This is a dishonest company and I will describe why in specific detail. I started calling around different moving companies earlier in the week. Most moving companies indicated they had a 3 hour minimum requirement, but since I only had a fridge and a few pieces of furniture that needed moving, I was looking for a smaller minimum. On 12/5/17, I found the website www.spendlessformovers.com and it read: "$85.00 an Hour for Two Men, One Truck, Mileage, Fuel, Tax, and Insurance All Included. No Hidden Charges. Two-Hour Minimum." (It still reads this as of the date of this review and I have screenshots.) I called the number from my work phone to confirm by voice to make sure the website was still accurate, and the person I spoke to did say it was $85/hour, two-hour minimum. I thought, Great! A two-hour minimum and good reviews on Yelp! Just what I'm looking for! So I sent an e-mail to the e-mail address on the website later that evening. The person I was communicating with (presumably Eric Weiss) eventually confirmed the next day, 12/6/17, by e-mail and by text that I was booked for Monday, 12/11/17. Then on Friday morning, 12/8/17, I get the following text (excerpted): "Good morning Patrick Eric Weiss with spend less for Movers 949-836-2074 we have you scheduled to move December 11th Monday ... 2 men one truck mileage fuel tax and insurance are all included $85 an hour start to finish add a half hour for drive time that's it no hidden charge ..." So suddenly it looks like he's changing it to a 2.5 hour minimum. Adding an extra half-hour charge that isn't advertised on the website and wasn't communicated by phone on 12/5/17 is the very definition of a "hidden charge". I responded saying that I don't agree to those terms. He responded with this (excerpted): "I sent Amanda an estimate on Thumbtack I also told you the same estimate we charge $85 an hour for two men one truck mileage fuel tax and insurance are al I included there are no hidden charges we have a 3 hour minimum the time starts at your door we load up the truck drive to your new place we unload the truck and put all your items where they belong and we add a half hour for drive time start to finish add a half hour for drive time ..." Now it's a 3.5 hour minimum! It goes from 2 hour minimum by phone (consistent with their website) on 12/5 to 3.5 hour minimum on 12/8 (By the way, I have no idea who Amanda is or what "Thumbtack" refers to). We go back forth by text and the person was not only condescending but so dishonest that when I point out repeatedly that his own website still states "Two-Hour Minimum" he is completely unfazed and does not acknowledge the fact. Even on the morning of 12/9/17, he had the gall to text me again to try confirm the booking that he had already reneged on the previous day. I will reiterate that as of the date of this review, their website still states "Two-Hour Minimum." I have it downloaded and screenshots. This is a dishonest company I will file a complaint with the CA PUC. I don't normally write reviews but this person's dishonesty is egregious enough to compel me to warn others. read more

Once moving day came I was a little nervous because I've never used a moving company before but when the chips were down I was really happy with the results! This is a long post but I want others who haven't used a moving company before to know the ins and outs of what I dealt with so they might get a better idea when they decide to try one. First of all, Daniel and Ryan, the actual movers, did a fantastic job at wrapping all the furniture, were polite, asked us many questions about item placement and made sure everything went as smooth as possible! Such hard working guys! I do a physical job for a living and was even impressed. We didn't have to go far once everything was packed and ready to go and we moved all of our own boxes over the course of a few weeks. This was a nice luxury so if you're able to do that you'll save time and money! My point is that you will most likely need more than the minimum 4 hours (with a half hour minimum for drive time) because we basically only moved furniture from a 1200 square foot condo to another condo. These guys worked at a great pace with little stopping and we barely came in under the wire, FYI! I had to give five stars because of the quality of the work they did but dealing with Eric, the owner, was a little challenging at times. I was disappointed that I had to call him the day before at 530pm rather than him calling me like he said he would when we setup everything. He then had the gall to ask the night before if we would switch our appointment to the afternoon instead of the morning when we booked many weeks prior. However, we denied his request and the guys showed up the next morning ready to go! Eric did call to confirm his guys arrived and called again to make sure I was satisfied, so after a few bumps in the road it went great. My Wife and I recently relocated from a Buena Park CA apartment to an Orange CA home and were in great need of assistance. Our move also included a 10x15 Storage Unit at another Buena Park location. After reviewing several moving companies we chose Spend Less For Movers about a month before our move because of their positive reviews. We initially spoke with the company owner Eric Weiss who patiently shared their policies, prices, and related details. Through an email one day prior Eric confirmed the movers ETA, as well as the morning of the move. The morning of the move, a 2 man tag team Taylor and Gerry arrived in a brand new truck. Taylor and Gerry said they'd worked together for years which quickly became apparent by how well they worked together. They had moving down to a science. Taylor and Gerry either plastic wrapped or covered with a blanket anything that was fragile or breakable to prevent anything from breaking or becoming damaged. Unfortunately Gerry and Taylor were pre-scheduled to move another family today also, but we apparently had way more stuff to move than we originally informed Spend Less For Movers, so due to no fault of their own, only lack of time, Taylor and Gerry came back the following morning on time again to complete the move. They even helped us pack smaller items into extremely large boxes for easier off-loading. During our 1 1/2 day move not one item was broken or damaged. Gerry and Taylor also removed the plastic wrapping and were always polite, respectful, and complete gentlemen. Gerry even helped level our refrigerator before leaving because the door wasn't closing properly. Although my Wife and I were exhausted Taylor and Gerry were very fast, never seemed to slow down or stop moving. Best movers ever!! We can't thank them enough!! Thank you Spend Less For Movers!! Wanted to leave a good reviews for these movers. They helped my mother pack up her storage and relocate it. After seeing how much of a good job they did for her, I hired them to help me. They were the first moving crew that I have ever hired to help me. I called them in the late morning and they were able to get to me same day. Three movers arrived within a few minutes of their quoted arrival time and got straight to work. I had a 10'x25' storage unit in Orange County (that was not conservatively packed, but had a lot of stuff) and they loaded it into a 26' uhaul, while really packing it tight for the move up to Idaho. They managed to take up only 16' which left me about 10' of room to load other things from the house which I didn't think was possible. They did repack a few things to save on space. The load consisted of furniture, boxes of belongings and an entire family library that must have consisted of 100's of books. They managed to get it done in less than 3 hours saving my girlfriend and me a lot of time and energy and gave us peace of mind. I would highly recommend them due to their professionalism, but also for their quick service and friendliness. You won't be disappointed. Thanks guys for the help. read more

I have moved myself lots of times but this time we needed help. Eric, Juan, Ryan and Gerry were professional from the start. Eric made sure we had everything we needed and we were going to get the best for our money. On the day of the move, Juan, Gerry and Ryan showed up on time, they looked around, came up with a plan and started. My 3 bedroom condo was loaded in the truck in 3 hours. They wrapped my furniture in blankets or wrap to ensure no dirt or scuffs damaged it. Once the house was on the truck, they didn't stop. They took all the loose stuff you can't box, vacuum, etc. onto the truck. They even went through our backyard and put plants, the dog house, and kids toys into the open space of the truck. I can't express how much I was impressed with the customer service, price and friendliness of this company. Customer service is a dying art and this company knows how important customer satisfaction is. read more

I called Eric Feb 1st for a move day of Feb 4th. I got a quote from Eric and set the move date Feb 4th. A nice big 26ft truck showed on Monday morning of Feb. 4th With a two man crew, Liu and Juan. They surveyed the premises and went right to work loading up the truck. Liu and Juan were fast and efficient and were able to handle and move some very heavy and large pieces of furniture with relative ease. The move was completed within the time quoted in the estimate. Liu and Juan went above and beyond by moving a large storage shed for me that I had overlooked and not mentioned in the quote detail. Liu and Juan were still within the time allowed and so there was no extra charge. I would highly recommend this moving company, and would use them again. Good job. read more

These guys are AWESOME!!! Jerry & Juan helped me during my recent move from Huntington Beach to Irvine... there is NO elevator in the new building which I was very concerned about but, these guys did a fantastic job (hoisting my furniture over the balcony of the new building)! They brought all the necessary equipment (dollys, shrink wrap, wardrobes boxes etc...) with them and they were able to bring it all up to the 3rd floor.
