A local in the Apple store that grew up in Franklin recommended this place to us. He told us, if you want genuinely fresh, authentic, wholesome Nashville food, come here. He warned me, it was a little funky and hasn't been updated since the 70's, but the food was still just as amazing. He wasn't wrong. This place also has a salad bar with purchase of an entree (and who doesn't love a great salad bar). I got steak frites- you could have cut the steak without a knife it was SO TENDER, so juicy, melted in your mouth. My friend got the salmon and the portion was HUGE. Amazing!!! My mom and I had a lovely dinner here. I made a reservation and we were seated on time. They have a very nice selection of meat and seafood entrees. Sperry's is very consistent! I come here all the time for the Prince William steak, but beware it is stuffed with blue cheese. The Sunday brunch is really good as well. One time we had a brand new waitress that took slightly longer than normal (we were in no rush anyway), but to insure we were satisfied the manager gave us a bottle of champagne on the house. Park in a regular looking Cool Springs strip mall and walk into elegance. Salad bar is a favorite with lots of choices including just about every dressing I've heard of. Caesar Salad is also a winner. The filet mignon can't be beat. Service is superb. Wine and liquor lists are extensive. And Cool Springs Sperry's is open for lunch. Wow. What can I say?!! Sperry's is OUTSTANDING. From the service, ambience, FOOD, and every little detail in between, I would give them 10 stars if I could! We were visiting my friend in Nashville for the week and she has literally been to EVERY restaurant in a 20 mile radius of Franklin, TN except for Sperry's, so when a local recommended the restaurant to us we had to give it a try. The restaurant is very large and has dim lighting which puts off a romantic and intimate vibe. We started off with the BBQ shrimp & grits and crab cakes as an appetizer. Both were absolutely excellent, mouthwatering. For our entrees all three of my friends had steak, which they were raving about the entire time. I had the halibut with sweet potato fries on the side. Suppppeer delicious. For dessert we had bananas foster and the espresso brownie sundae. HOLY MOLY!!! THEY WERE BOTH SO GOOD BUT WE WERE STUFFED like pigs lol we couldn't finish it all! Thanksgiving meal was more than delicious! We made reservations for a party of 10. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. Our waiter, Carlos, was fantastic. The restaurant was full of eager Thanksgiving guest but we didn't feel hurried or delayed in any way. Our party ordered the Turkey special; prime rib (oh my delicious and cooked to perfection ; shrimp and grits and of course the salad bar was yummy with all fresh items. Our Thanksgiving meal was complete with a trio of desserts; carrot cake; peppermint ice cream and the unbelievable Bananas Foster. Everything about dinner here was excellent. The service all the way to the food was fabulous. We came to dinner on a Sunday evening.(half off bottles of wine) which was a score for us. We ordered the escargot , crab cakes and oysters for appetizers and we both got steak for dinner. Our steak was cooked to the way we like and everything was delicious. Dessert omg the crème brûlée and banana foster is a must!! It is so good ! The presentation for the banana foster was nice having it table side cooked in front of us. Excellent steak house - a nod back to the past. Salmon appetizer is a WOW! So tender & with toast & sauce it's spectacular! (I could order this as main course with salad!). Steaks are perfection. We have done our real estate staff holiday dinner here four times over the last few years, and it is always our favorite place. We love getting the private dining room at the Coolsprings location. The staff is always excellent and knowledgeable, and never misses a beat. Food is absolutely delicious, and they always have a good selection. (Old School) steak houses seem to be hard to find...but I'm happy to report I have found it in Sperry's. My niece recently visited and we wanted to take my mom to an "Old School steak house" and I had visited the Sperry's in Nashville last year, (where I very much enjoyed the experience!) but wasn't sure we would get the same great experience at the Cool Springs location, (don't let the location fool you!) This visit might have trumped the Nashville location! Once you pass through the dark, heavy doors you step into a true Old School ambiance complete with cozy fire place! We went with our high expectations and were not disappointed! Starting with frosted salad plates, house made blue cheese dressing, (I'm a dressing snob!), perfectly cooked food, (steak, lobster, escargot all cooked correctly), fabulous taste and above average wait staff and service, (shout out to our server William!! Who really put a great effort into his job and made us feel like his personal guest before we left!) We stuffed ourselves silly and ended with a yummy, moist carrot cake! (I don't know how we had room!) I still have to drive 20 min. or so, from Columbia, TN but I so will! So happy to add this place to my growing restaurant list here in TN! read more

Couldn't decide where to go for dinner and chose Sperrys for their happy hour. And I'm glad we did. Half price gin & vodka martinis, and wonderful bar bites offered in the cocktail/bar area. We got the smoked trout and it was delicious. For entrees, I got the blue cheese filet and my partner got the prime rib. Both were cooked to perfection, tender, and juicy. We were too stuffed for dessert, but will be back to try the bananas foster. Service was excellent. Only downside is the salad bar is so dimly lit it was hard to see what they offered! read more

I am torn between giving a 3 or 4 start to this place. I have to say, the ambiance, the wait staff, and the overall experience is very nice. My issue is with the cook staff. Whoever is responsible for grilling their steaks really needs some additional training. My wife, my 13-year-old son, and myself went here for dinner on Valentine's Day. We each ordered steaks; my wife ordered a filet medium well, and received a very rare steak. My son ordered his medium rare and received well done, while my order for a medium rare steak came in medium well. Needless to say, all three of us were disappointed. All three steaks were different; my wife having a filet, my son a mew york, and mine being a rib eye. So, it wasn't like we were served each others orders. The rest of the food was outstanding, especially the appetizers. But, the situation with the stakes being grilled incorrectly really overshadowed everything else. Sperry's has an old school feel to it: dark, lots of wood, heavy chairs, etc. Reminds me of an old library or someone's smoking room. It's not a good or bad thing, it just feels more retro. We we went for Sunday brunch, without reservations. We were seated promptly. We both had eggs benedict. Mine had the crab and fried green tomato. I also got the grits as a side. The food was fabulous. Everything was perfectly cooked. Probably the best grits I've had in Nashville: thick, creamy, buttery, with a hint of cheese. The tenderloin on the dish was perfectly cooked, pink in the middle. The tomato was crisp, and the english muffin was buttery. They ran out of the homemade donuts. :( Service was excellent.
