My husband and I wanted to try out a new spot for Indian food and found SC super close to our home. I didn't want the reviews to sway us from stopping by, I'm a firm believer of trying things out for myself. Well, I should have listened! Upon entering we noticed the place was a bit empty, about 3 other parties dining. It took them over 7 mins to acknowledge us, once seated it took we had to flag someone to ask for water. We promptly asked for recommendations on what to order and the "waiters" weren't much help. My husband is obsessed with Indian food so he wanted to try the best thing on the menu. I'm a huge fan of Chicken Tikka Masala so I ordered that, and my husband ordered the Chattinad Chicken Curry. Both were presented very nicely, the rice was amazing, my tikka masala was bland and only included 7 small pieces of chicken - my husband enjoyed his dish, the naan was ok, and the vegetable Samoa's were good. All in all, I DO NOT recommend Spice Creations. The service was one of the worst I've ever received, the food was average and overly priced for the amount thats given. Just me tonight. I was a bachelor. Decided to a try a new to me Indian restaurant. I found this place as I frequent the Mexican place next door. Came on a Friday around 7:30pm. Surprised I was the only one dinning. I guess I know why...everyone is at a football game. Several folks did take out as I was there. Very clean and simple inside. I ordered Kadhai Masala and a side of garlic naan. Never had Kadhai Masala before but this was fantastic. Chicken with peppers and onions. I had it at the highest spice level. I like it hot. It was deluxe! I ate it all up. The garlic naan was thin and they way I like it. It was a tasty meal. Yeah, I cleaned my plate and ate too much. The friendly gentleman that was tending to me did his job well. Kept filling up my water as I was hot. The dinner cost was $26+ with a 20% tip. Not bad for dinner I think and inflation that is occurring. This was a very high quality meal. Will definitely go back. I think this is another sleeper the folks don't know about. My husband and I recently tried Spice Creations and placed a take out order. We found this restaurant based on the positive reviews, but after receiving our order, I'm not sure how they have so many great reviews. We ordered pappad, and never received it. Instead, they substituted (or didn't thoroughly check the order before handing it to us) the pappad with potato bhajias that we never ordered. We ordered 2 entrees including chicken tikka masala and lamb biryani. ONLY the biriyani comes in a standard sized take out box. The food is WAY overpriced for the quantity that you receive. The containers are much smaller than what you'd find at your typical Indian restaurant, which is very disappointing and should be a red flag! We also ordered ras malai and gulab jamun for desserts! Y'all, there wasn't even ONE ras malai ball in the ras malai dessert!!! The ras was so course and grainy; it was nasty! The gulab jamun pieces were harder than a rock to cut into. We ended up throwing it away. You're better off buying the instant gulab jamun boxes from the Indian store, because those are guaranteed to be softer than here. This place is not worth it for the prices that they charge. We also came on a weekend and there was no one inside the store, which is VERY unusual for a top rated Indian restaurant. Stopped in for the lunch buffet and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of options given. Everything tasted amazing and I left very satisfied. I also ordered a mango lassi, which was small (maybe 8oz or so) but very good! The restaurant is very clean and staff are friendly and attentive. When I finished to go pay, my total was just $15 before tip. You cannot beat that price at all for buffet. We've been here 3 times now. The first time we came it was a chaotic mess. It seemed some of the staff came late and they had a late start since we got their right at open. We chocked it up to Covid since it was 2021 summer but now summer 2022 they got the staffing and service down. We've tried all the Indian buffets in a 30 minute or so drive from north Frisco. This is our go to spot now on Sundays. Let me tell you why: - They have the best quality items. Hands down while there are less trays out, each item you will try will impress you. The spring rolls, the naan, the butter chicken, saag, every curry, and the deserts stand out. - They bring fresh naan to each table so it's made to order versus a big tray that's floppy and cold on the buffet. - We come for a butter chicken that seems to have cloves or cinnamon in it. It's so much better than everyone else's in town. They also have the best veggie dishes. The carrots in the biryani and flavors have to be the most bright and amazing. We come here versus the other spots with more trays because frankly their food is a lot to try but nothing you want to go back for. Plus I'm not here for the goat curry or other strange food I can't remember. I'm sure there's a crowd for that but I have 4 kids under 11 and they eat everything on the buffet and LOVE it. Great local find! I agree with some of the other reviews in that it's tucked away in the back corner of a shopping center so it's kind of hard to find but it's worth the search. We were looking for a good, local Indian restaurant, found this place, and we weren't disappointed. The food is outstanding with good portions and they have a buffet option which is unique for the restaurant type. Prices were decent too; about $15 for the buffet and $12 for the Tikka Masala plate. The service is great too. They were always available and helpful. The only downside would be the lack of AC (which isn't helpful combining spicy food and Texas summers) so next time i'd probably order take-out. But I'll definitely be returning! read more

We did a carry out and it was unfortunately a disappointment in terms of taste. There are several restaurants focusing on South Indian dishes in the area and they tend to be very 'hot' spicy . Spice creations is good about that and does not drown the curries with hot chilly powder. But that's as far as it goes. Too expensive for dinner buffet, very few vegetarian appetizers that too pakoras were cold and hard, staff didn't bother to refill the stuff.. Food was spicy and was missing taste. Had 2 kids in the party, food was spicy for them so I checked with front desk member and ordered mild dish from alacarte, they still Charged me for one kids buffet and alacarte item.. Anyone who is a stickler for COVID precautions should probably not have the buffet. The dinner buffet is open, but there are no gloves provided. All of the buffet containers are covered, so everyone is sharing the opening of the covers and spoons. The two guys working in the dining room did not wear masks. Tables were pretty close together. Since these "back to normal" practices does not freak out Hubby and I we stayed to enjoy dinner... but there were definitely misses to fully enjoy. The buffet had decent choices when it comes to curry. The positives include tasty chicken tikka marsala and shrimp curries, and fresh hot naan brought to the table. Because the buffet is on sterno flames, the food was just lukewarm. The buffet was out of samosas, we asked for some, and waited our entire meal, but the server never replenished. The gulab jamun was room temperature and doughy without any syrup absorbed in the ball of dough. Phone orders were being taken by speaker phone, so be ready to listen to all the call-ins. Lastly, the $19 per person price is not a good value for the mediocre service and food. Perhaps ordering is better, but sadly, we probably will not find out. read more

I visited this restaurant just to try the lunch buffet, which is WELL worth the price. First, all of their dishes do not use lots of added refined sugar to balance out the spicy flavor like a lot of Indian restaurants do nowadays. The taste and texture of the food is all the more better for it, because the food is AMAZING. The naan was topped with ghee, which by first bite was pure bliss. It was so light, I felt just for a tad second I was taking a bite of some very light popcorn at a movie theater, not that heavy butter oil saturated popcorn that no one likes. It was a light crisp and was done. I couldn't stop smiling considering how bad the food is at other places --NOT HERE, the food is SUPERB! I grabbed an order to go just because I was so impressed by the food. Also, Drake, one of the co-owners, came out to greet me and ask me a few questions, being very friendly and welcoming. So long as you have an easygoing personality and are fairly level-headed, you'll get along with famously with everyone here. At no point did I complain, but they even had their cooks whip up more curry chicken and chicken marsala (though by the 2nd plate I was so FULL I could barely stand). Tandoori chicken was amazing, Veggie Korma, Veggie Pakoras, Saag Paneer, Daal, every did was on point and amazing at the buffet. So I was encouraged after great experience to order something to go. The food is good, very small portions. Wish I could give more stars on this review, but the staff is pretty rude when you call in an order. May be fine for eat in, but I'll go somewhere else. With all of the competition around them they should understand the importance of courtesy and good customer service. Update 08/07/19 - I haven't returned to the restaurant since my original posting date. We found a place with MUCH better service and food. Iravat Indian Cuisine off or Legacy Dr. the food is Excellent and the service amazing. I placed a to go order, and they forgot to include my Naan bread. The owner drove from legacy dr in Plano to my house on the far side of Allen to bring me the bread and apologize in person. Good luck finding ANY other place that would do that. My husband and I came here looking for Baigan Barta after I had it during their lunch buffet (the buffet was absolutely delicious, by the way). Oddly, it was not on the menu so either they changed their menu or they offer different items during their buffet. Nonetheless, I saw this as an opportunity to try a new dish paired with our must have - Chicken Tikka Masala. My husband asked our waiter about a comparable dish to Baigan Barta and he suggested Bagara Baingan, another eggplant dish. It turned out to be very similar and definitely fulfilled our craving. Instead of the eggplant being mashed up with green peas in the Baigan Barta dish, the eggplant was cut into pieces and was paired with potato. The sauce was well balanced with various seasonings that sent out tastebuds dancing. I will definitely come back for this dish alone! The Chicken Tikka Masala was creamer than we're used too but still good. The chicken was tender and packed with flavor. The chunks of chicken were cut nicely proportioned, which was great because we've had Chicken Tikka Masala dishes where the chicken pieces were huge, and they needed to be cut with a knife because the chicken was too tough. This was definitely not the case. Lastly, we enjoyed the rice, which comes with the dish you order, and the garlic naan. The garlic naan was perfectly baked as it wasn't crunchy nor was it too doughy. It also had just the right amount of garlic, which makes my garlic-loving self very happy. Usually I find that the garlic naan at other restaurants are way to sparing with the garlic. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Spice Creations and will be back! This review is based on my one takeaway order and the experience. I placed a phone order of a Chicken Luckhnawi Biryani and Chicken 65. The order was ready when I reached within 25 minutes of placing the order as promised. I was told that the food is cooked to order and I can specify the spice level but the default spice level is "Medium". While I did not dine in the restaurant looked spacious and clean. Now for the food. The Biriyani was cooked well and the chicken was fall off the bone well and flavorful. The spice level was higher than Medium but not high. The rest of the food was a bit disappointing. The Raita that was sour and the chicken in Chicken 65 was hard. The Chicken 65 had good flavor but the hard chicken pieces made it hard to enjoy the flavors. Not on the top of my list but neither on my "never again" list. read more

Great good and superb service!! We have visited spice creation a few times and always enjoyed their varied yummy lunch buffet and attentive service. Based on our many visits, we decided to have a private lunch party at this restaurant for about 70 people that catered to diverse food tastes. All our guests loved the variety of food served, the spice level and the outstanding service provided by Divya and team. The kadai paneer, Sekh kababs, lucknow biryani, nans, mutton curry, chicken 65, chilli fish and all the other dishes were delicious. The mango lassi was also delicious and very refreshing. Several of our guests told us that they really enjoyed the food and the excellent service provided by the servers and they plan to visit the restaurant again. The servers were quick to respond to our guests needs and ensured that the buffet was well stocked with food and remained hot. They went all out to ensure that our private party ran smoothly. We highly recommend this restaurant for their food and their service and we're glad that we chose this restaurant to host our private party. My husband and I tried this place out Saturday night, and we ordered to go from the Yelp app. Which worked extremely well btw! When we picked up the food it was already ready and waiting for us (for a Saturday night there were no customers in the restaurant). The server that gave us our food was super nice. We chose medium heat and it wasnt very spicy, the sauce was lacking a creaminess. I have had better and made better at home. 3. Kofta Curry (hot) - $11.00 I really enjoyed this curry actually. It comes with balls of potatoes and cheese i believe. Super great flavor, you could taste the spiciness! I would order again! 4. Plain rice - $2.00 The plain rice has pretty good flavor. It is cooked well and goes great with curry. 5. Naan - $2.00 This is made in house and you can tell, you get two large pieces for 2 bucks, but it doesnt have much flavor. Overall, the food was okay. I will definitely be trying them out again, I just figured with Tikka Masala being such a signature dish that it would have been executed better. Prices are a bit high as well. The weekday lunch selection seemed a little limited compared to other Indian lunch buffets in the metroplex but I enjoyed the offerings and there were a decent number of vegetarian options. Not a bad place, food is decent but on the pricey side. If you go at lunchtime for the buffet likely you'll have to wait occasionally for the cooks to prepare the dishes when they run out. Buffet had tandoori chicken, raita, cucumber/lettuce/onion salad, a paneer dish, chicken curry, chicken tikka, mutton curry, fish (tilapia?) curry, white rice, sauteed veggies, and maybe a couple other dishes. They only had one dessert: kheer which is my favorite so I didn't mind, but at the very atleast I would expect gulab jamun or gajar halwa. If you ask the waiters they bring a basket of naans to your table and they're are usually pretty quick. Overall not bad food. The kitchen faces the seating area with a window so you can see the cooks chopping vegetables, marinading, and cooking stuff which is cool. The decor is nice, classy, and there were a few work groups of people there. Can't comment on the al a carte because I only had the buffet here. read more

Who would have thought that the "little city" of Allen would become a battleground for Indian cuisine? OK, maybe not a battleground, but we've got some great choices now right here at home, and Spice Creations has just jumped to the top of my list. I visited on a Sunday afternoon to take in the buffet. The space is warm and inviting, yet modern. The buffet itself definitely focuses on quality over quantity, but isn't quality what you really want anyway? I loaded my place with a sampling of most of the dishes, and here's what I found: Naan - Brought fresh to the table by the server, this was an outstanding example of the traditional bread. It had the right amount of crisp, the right amount of browning and it was lightly brushed with either oil or ghee. Hara chara chicken - Served bone-in, this dish had a blend of spices, with coriander, mint and a little chili for spice. It was tender, moist and tasted great. Chicken korma - Another nice dish, with a good garlic taste as well as notes of ginger and cloves. The sauce was very savory without being overpowering. Chicken sikh kebab - If there was any of the dishes that were just really good instead of great today, this was it. Still, the chicken was moist and had a good flavor. Adding a little green chutney woke it up some as well. Chicken makhani - Also known as "butter chicken", I've never had an example that was as good as this one. One could actually taste the curry and other notes, instead of just a bland sauce like so many other places. This was a favorite. Chicken jalfrezi - The spiciest dish of the day (but still not crazy hot), this dish really brought the yum with chilis, cumin, coriander and a rich tomato sauce base. It was so refreshing to see this instead of the typical tikka masala. Kashmiri dum aloo - A potato based dish, I've read that this is often a sweeter (and non-authentic) dish, but this example had a mildly spicy sauce with just a touch of sweet flavor and tender yet not mushy potatoes. Methi malai paneer - Absolutely the best paneer (kind of an Indian cottage cheese, but more firm) dish that I've ever had. The paneer had a perfect amount of "give" to the bite, and had great flavor on its own, even outside of the outstanding curry based sauce, which featured nutty, spicy and methi (fenugreek) notes. If I had to ever swear off of meat, this would be a mainstay. Idli - I had not had this typically South India breakfast food before, and it was a very nice accompaniment to the meal. These little rice-based cakes were served with two chutneys, one tomato based and one cilantro based, as well as a bowl of sambar, a kind of vegetable stew. They were tender, with a mild nutty taste, and went well with the sauces. As you might guess, this was an outstanding meal. This place is right about putting "Spice" as the first word in its name, because they excel at this. And I don't mean "hot"; yes, there are some spicy dishes, but this restaurant is big on FLAVOR. These are not just bland sauces over forgettable chicken like many buffets; care has clearly been taken in crafting these dishes. I also spoke to my server about buffet rotation; he assured me that the dishes did indeed rotate and that goat curry, one of my personal favorites, was in that rotation. I'll be back to try that for sure. Well, if you've stayed with this review so far, you should really consider checking this place out. If you live in Allen or otherwise near here, it's a no-brainer. HOW did I not know about these guys? They are excellent! Some of the best Indian food I've had in Dallas and it's so ridiculously close to my house that I'm mourning the months I've spent living here without the knowledge of their food. I grabbed a ton of food for my friend and I to binge on while we hung out and I was very impressed. We started with some Gobi Manchurian (medium heat) and it was extremely flavorful. A perfect little appetizer, and I will say that the medium is a decent level of spice, but if you want to sweat you'll want to go hot hot. I think I'm going for that next time when my friend isn't there to whine about it! Then we had Chicken Tikka Masala (also medium heat) with two orders of their regular naan. I do wish an order of naan had more than two pieces, but two orders was perfect for my friend and I. The meal was big enough for us to split, and still have room for some gulab jamun which came as two large doughnut type balls in a sweet syrup. Perfect for one each! The rice was very good, and I like the way the household spices of India and cinnamon in the rice it added a very nice flare. The largest issue was: EACH INDIVIDUAL NAAN IS $3! So, if a table of 4 orders Naan, that's $12 worth of bread! Ridiculous!! Each person was $20! WOW! Update: the next day while eating my over-priced leftovers, I discovered a dark hair in my food that definitely did not belong to me, nor a family member. YUK!! Newly opened Indian house in Allen. Nice and clean with a bright modern look. Papadom and chutney were complimentary and tasty. Vegetable samosa to begin with were great. Tasted very fresh and had a nice kick to them. Entrees are offered with a heat scale :American mild, medium and hot and then Indian hot. There are some interesting variations on the menu - Curry/Mole dishes and others with Ancho chillis. A blend of Indian and Mexican. Also had Piri Piri Shrimp on the menu (Portuguese dish). Wife had Chicken Tikka Masala (Indian Hot) and I ordered Chicken Kolaphuri (also IH). We shared a pilaf rice. Both were really good. Just about the right spiciness but we both like hot food. We let Yelp decide lunch today. I'm glad, too, because Yelp led us to Spice Creations. With such a high rating, we decided to give this restaurant a try. While I mainly eat a vegan diet, my husband is a meat eater. No worries! This restaurant catered to both of us. We didn't realize there was a lunch buffet today, so I kind of worried there'd be nothing I could eat. To my pleasant surprise, every vegetarian dish on the line was plainly notated with a "V" on the name card. And everything was was very flavorful and tasty. My husband said his chicken dishes were very good, too. Today, I enjoyed little fried dal cakes that were SO very flavorful, tiny potatoes in delicious gravy, fresh salad, fresh fruit, piping hot naan, fried rice with a lot of veggies mixed in, and so much more. And every member of the staff was friendly and very attentive. I wonder what I'll get next time. Because there will be a next time! :) read more

Great restaurant! Has been open for only 1 year and as you can see the ratings speak for itself! Food is of excellent quality and the decor is modern- very different than most Indian restaurants I've been to. And the music is Indian but just instrumental, which is relaxing and pleasant. Buffet is $12.99 on weekends but totally worth it. The selection included, curry chickpeas, samosas (& everything to make your own samosa chaat!). They also serve Indo-Chinese dishes like fried rise, spring rolls etc... The food selection (buffet) is fantastic for meat eaters but they do have veg options as well as appetizers and desserts. You also get your own fresh naan brought to your table with additional naans at no cost. All dishes were cooked perfectly. This place is a 5 for sure! Too bad I live a 30 min drive away. Totally recommend if you're planning to come by the Allen area. read more
