I frequent The French Workshop and love everything they have to offer. Started with the one in Bayside. Then a closer location in garden city opened. And now an even closer location in Plainview! Pretty soon they're gonna open one right in my backyard or something haha. It is a lovely spot for authentic French-inspired pastries and coffee. I've had everything here including cupcakes, brownies, croissants, macarons, cookies, madelines, etc. I've also come here to get a small cake for special occasions. It is also a very nice place to come with friends and enjoy a coffee and pastries. The elegant, pristine interior with marble accents and beautiful displays creates a welcoming Parisian vibe. Perfect for a quick treat or relaxed sit-down. I love the cookies here, they're soft and chewy unlike the Plainview FWS I always leave with a giant bag of 5 of every different flavor of cookie(chocolate chip, nutella, oreo, pistachio, etc) because the texture is so soft and smooth. My new obsession is the fruits of the forest cake. So delicious! Its a must try!!! It gets packed in here, but the line moves quickly! If you haven't tried FWS yet, what are you waiting for?

Stopped in this afternoon for some desserts. Got a Dubai chocolate croissant for myself and a cheesecake brownie for my husband. I noticed right away that the croissant was stale, like the croissant was hard to bite into. I asked my husband if his brownie seemed stale and he said that it did. This is a first for both of us and it seems to be a place that's always busy and packed, so we're not sure why this happened with both items. Hopefully it's just a one time occurrence.
The French Workshop cafe was very busy when we visited, but the service was quick and efficient. Our server recommended the raspberry pastry for me, and my wife selected her own pastry, which she enjoyed very much. I loved my pastry too. The combination of the fresh raspberries, cream, and cake was super yummy. The seating arrangement was very classic French cafe style which we loved. We didn't eat in but we saw that the spots were filled when we entered the cafe so my advice to you is to get a spot before joining the line to order. In all it was great experience and we would recommend the French Workshop to our friends and family.

Went here for a quick coffee date with the wife. The pastries and food was good. The coffee was even better quick service which is especially great with how packed it gets. Would definitely recommend. I wish I could try every single pastry and delectable in there with more visits. I hope to try most of them lol
I was going to go to a café, not too far away, but there was a long line so I opted for the French workshop. The place was crowded which I expected. But there was a table readily available so we took it. I don't have to say I asked one of the staff to pass me a wipe and I would've wiped the table. She asked me if I wanted a table clean? I said yes. She said she'll send someone over to clean the table. This person never arrive. So neither did I get the wipe to wipe the table myself nor did someone come over to clean the table. So we have to sit at the dirty table. The only one available. Would I go back? Never. If I'm willing to wipe the table myself, why not just give me the wipe? I ordered a cupcake and a coffee. I asked for a vanilla cupcake and the girl proceeded to hand me and Apple spiced cupcake. I asked her, are you sure that's vanilla or apple? She said oh this is all we have. I said so you do or do not have vanilla? She said no. I think if I ask for a vanilla cupcake, you should say you don't have vanilla and offer me some other suggestion instead of slapping a completely different cupcake on my plate And pretending it's OK. I like bakeries. I go for the baked goods. So I am very specific when I want something, and I expect to get what I want and what I pay for. There was an extremely long wait time to get our drinks. For the price I don't think I would visit this establishment again. The other issue is that there are no napkins. You have to ask them in order to get napkins. They're very stingy with their napkins.
When I passed by this shop I knew I had to visit! Entering I was overwhelmed by all the pastries and options available. The service was quick and staff were nice. I tried the fruit tart and the millie feuille. Fruit tart was my favorite with ripe fruit, not overly sweet pastry cream, and a well baked tart. The millie feuille was good aswell. Would come back to try the other options.
This place is fantastic!!! The beignets are a cloud of deliciousness! The cookies...soft chewy and so tasty. you can taste the quality. 10/10

Great bakery and coffee spot! I have been there twice and have had three of their pistachio croissants! The flaky croissant withe pistachio filling and a little drop of raspberry jam is so wonderful! It goes great with their coffee! Love the choice of indoor and outdoor seating. It is a very bright spot and constantly being cleaned for customers! Love this place! read more

Love the garden city location. It's got a great patio and the inside is spacious and bright just like the others. The barista was really kind and let me switch up my lemonade when I realized there was a pineapple option after not seeing it on the kiosk! read more

Been wanting to check this out and had the opportunity to do so yesterday morning while our SUV was at Mazda for its check up service appointment. I just came back from Paris last week so my expectations would be pretty high. The place is spacious and immediately to the right you'll see the space for tables and it's pretty crowded. The vibe is certainly not relaxing but like a bit of a mad rush as people are standing close wanting tables from the next ones leaving. To the left is all the queue and there are certain sections, starting off with cakes, then sandwiches and cookies then french pastries like croissants etc and the 2 cashiers. If you're ordering multiple items, try to remember it once you get to the cashier because nothing is written and documented, I actually forgot a cookie. So for me, it felt frantic and rushed and can be more organized. The coffee section feels lacking in staff and there's just one barista and one other assisting on milk etc. This took longer. I will say though that the croissant, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, and chocolate beignets were delicious! My husband liked the pistachio cake too. The hazelnut cupcake was too dry. We decided to get more stuff to enjoy for the remainder of the weekend. Looking forward to come back and try more stuff, just wish it can be a little more relaxing so it feels like you're transported to France temporarily. Oh and both the Hot white chocolate and Nutella hot chocolate were good. Not too sweet but wish it was warmer. read more

This place is great. I have been coming to the French Workshop since they opened. I live 5 minutes away. I cannot give them 5 stars because the Baristas are Not nice. Most of them have a bad, negative attitude. Not sure why this is the case. Almost all of the barista's seem very unhappy and it shows. The last time I was there, I asked a question & the barista was Not Nice at all!!! Nasty. I had to mention this because it is such a nice place with great tables outside on the corner of 7 th Street but the bad barista attitude makes me want to go down the block. Nonetheless, I will return for my favorite iced coffee. read more
I came back to this location after not being back in a while for some lunch and tried new items! I got the egg white wrap which I loved as a healthier option. I also tried the Iced honey latte and it was great as well. I would come back for this latte again. The service was also friendly and fast. Despite people coming and going the tables were clean as well. I recommend! read more

I used to work nearby during its opening years ago and never get the chance to swing by - so happy that today was my night. As me and girlfriends were craving for coffee and sweets on this rainy night, we decided to pop up. Boy, we're not disappointed with the choices on their display cabinets. The location is bigger than our Queens home branch and its outdoor setting is so relaxing. If not for rain, we preferred to be outdoors. There are multiple entrances that make it convenient to get in and out of the store. What made me more happy was seeing my favorite cream brûlée and profiterole as if plenty of stocks are still on display on just hour before it closes. Got to take home these pastries to hubby as what I thought right away. Share the blessings (lol). Was a pretty fun experience being here. Location on 7 th St is just perfect. In the curbed if a popular street but has plenty of parking spaces. read more

The French Workshop is one of my favorite bakeries on Long Island! I love their coffees and matchas but their sandwiches are not to be missed!! They have a wide variety of desserts too, some which can be overly sweet even for someone with a sweet tooth like me but they are great for many occasions and really beautifully made. The cafe has a nice seating area which makes it great to grab a snack or coffee break with a friend but given how popular it is, it can get pretty noisy. Overall, service moved really quickly and the workers are so nice as well! read more

The French Workshop has multiple locations. I've been to their Garden City and Bayside location. Both are similar with the open concept workshop showcasing their signature sweets and savories and the patissiers. There are tables inside and outside for you to enjoy your purchase. This location has street parking and parking lot spaces. I came on a Friday morning around 10:30am and there were lots of customers ordering and at the tables. I got on line and purchased 2 slices of the Oreo Cheesecake. Their pastries are mouthwatering and delicious. Service was wonderful and friendly. Definitely stop by The French Workshop if you haven't done so already. read more

Watched this bakery grow and expand from their first location in Bayside. They continue to kill the bakery/coffee game. Their selection of baked goods and pastry has broadened tremendously as their expansion grew as well. I have no complaints about any of their desserts, cookies and cakes there. It is catered more to the sweet tooth population who appreciates dense, rich, and luscious desserts. If you are one who likes things light and only a little sweet, this is not the place for you. I can always expect great quality and great satisfaction from any of their selections. They also have a selection of savory sandwiches and quiches, which I haven't tried too many of. My favorite baked goods there are definitely their cookies and cakes. Their cookies are soft and fresh, come in different flavors and sizes. Their large selection of cakes makes me want to try each one. The chocolate tarts and cakes are rich, dense and give you a satisfactory OMG as soon as you take the first bite. Their pistachio cake and raspberry cake are very moist, dense and rich as well. If you're a chocolate lover, their melody cake (with the perfect light crunch/crisp on the bottom) and chocolate noir definitely delivers. The French Workshop is always a win for me! read more

First Impressions - N/A Hubby picked me up from work and surprised me with some sweets ... next time I'll be sure to visit and get a look at the place in person since it looks so cute! The Noms - Macarons: delicious and perfectly fresh, even a few days later. I wish they had the flavors listed because I didn't know what I was eating, all I know was that it was good! Raspberry cheesecake- very delicious and rich and creamy. I liked the tarty sweetness of the raspberry topping. Perfect compliment to balance the sweet creamy cheesecake. Wish there was more crust, but that's a personal preference since I love a graham cracker crust! Chocolate ball - sorry I don't know the name of this one and my husband can't remember either but it's chocolate covered hazelnut with a vanilla mousse? It tastes like a large Ferraro Rocher. Excellent taste and loved the nutty crunchy bits. Added lots of texture to what would have been too much creamy mousse. In Conclusion- 10/10 would come back here. I need to see all the sweets and pastries and pick out some goodies... but I'm glad the hubby thought of me and surprised me with something sweet after work! read more

Came by on a Sunday afternoon for a pick me up. It was pretty busy inside with patrons chatting or doing work. Ordered a creme brûlée and mixed fruit tart to go. The sugar glaze on the creme brûlée is done beforehand. While the creme was good, smooth, and creamy. The sugar gets stuck to your teeth easily. Might be because it's brûlée-ed ahead of time. The fruit tart is good. Not much of a sugar coating on top of the fruit. The tartness of the berries complement the sweetness of the custard. The line is kind of in disarray. Depending on what you order and how you move, people can get in front of you. If it was a busier day, it might be more chaotic. read more

Yes, there is seating indoors in addition to outdoor, umbrella seating. It is a lovely place for lunch, pastries, yummy breads and cafe au lait. A definite 4 star place tucked away in Garden City.
Do they sell coffee beans?
Yes we do! We can also grind them for you depending on what machine you have at home.
How are the macaroons?
Sometimes they are hard. I purchased a box and half were hard already. But if you get them fresh, they are great!
Does this place offer quiche?
A most excellent quiche with some fresh bread on the side.
