The first day I tried I was disappointed when I arrived at 6:15pm and not realizing that they close at 6pm. Bit of a shock for a NY'er only Wall St. closes that early. However, the next day I gave them a try during lunch time and it was definitely the proper choice. I visited because of a recommendation from a coworker and I'm so glad I followed through! Their curry chicken was so tasty and the portion size is great. Went in hoping for the best as the other one a few miles south was a complete disappointment. Ordered beef patty and soup. Started eating patty in car and have to say that outside of Ja and queens this was the best I tasted. Flaky, spicy, hot and flavorful. It is worth stopping for another on my way back to PA. Ordered chicken soup haven't eating as yet (waiting on moth to cook off) as of now the patty was worth the trip. read more

There are a few JA restaurants in DE, but this 2 store chain is the best JA food experience I've had so far in De. I've been going to them from their days when they only had the 1 (Spice and Nice) restaurant off Route 9--still there. It still doesn't comes close to a Flatbush/ Utica Ave Brooklyn experience, but for a DE experience it's on top! The Patty is really good and always fresh from my experience. Oxtail, Curry Chicken and stew Chicken are my favorites. The only negative to this chain is the wait time as they're clearly on Jamaican time! I highly suggest anyone thinking of making a 'quick' stop in to get that out of your mind. You'll just end up going there and wait forever on the food and probably get so annoyed you probably not got back. With that said CALL AHEAD and with that add a few minutes of wait time in the planning on top of that. After many times getting there and twiddling my thumbs I've come to just accept its just a JA ting. I've just come to realize it's part of the experience and I plan accordingly as I suggested earlier. The food just keeps me going back! Tip: when calling know that they're actually there. Customer service sucks. They never answer the phone and if you watch them inside, they will watch the phone ring even if they have no customers in line. I gave this establishment 3 stars as the food is okay. However, I don't understand a restaurant business that is supposed to sell a product but never has any within the timeframe that it's supposed to be served! Every time I go in Saturday mornings to get breakfast there is never any left. I'm assuming that they have specific number of repeat customers that they have platters waiting for and maybe an additional 2 platters if that. I travel a good distance and get there before the cut off time of 10:30 each time I go (which has been about 4 times now) and never am able to get breakfast. It's frustrating and annoying. The food speaks for itself. I get the jerk chicken with rice and peas. Order early they will run out. I just got back from a week long Caribbean trip, had Jerk chicken on every island we went to and none of it came close to this place. Spice & Nice 2 formerly known as Cottoys ( different owners) has very good Jamaican food. Being from NYC, I can attest this restaurants will meet your expectations. The oxtail is incredible and always fresh. Curry goat is delicious. The jerk chicken is good but I had better. I think jerk chicken is better off a grill than in a oven. The jerk pork is rich with flavor and beef patties are made daily on site. I do have few negative things to point out but not about the quality of the food. The service could be better. Meaning, greet me when I come in the door. Don't make me wait 10-15 minutes before speaking to me and it's not even busy. Now, I don't mind the wait because the food is that good. Also, it seems like towards the end of the day the menu is limited. They're running out of food. That's something that the consumer does not want to hear. This place is horrible. They hardly answer the phone when you call, and when you do get an answer they never have what their menu says they offer. Also, the food isn't really good, it's okay. They say they close at 8pm and sometimes if you call they say "we are out of food, and closing early". What kind of business does that? This business location, Spice N Nice 2 should be shut down for board of health issues. I had ordered cabbage, yam and plantains. I live in North Wilmington and was in the area having my car serviced. I had a taste for some Jamaican food so I went on line on my cell phone and found this restaurant closest to my location. Read the reviews and decided to try them. I'm giving them a POOR rating because after I told the girls I couldn't eat a certain food due to allergies, I found the item on my platter and could not eat any of the food. When I try to call to try to rectify the problem, the phone just rang, then went to voicemail and the mailbox was full.
