Mediocre food ambience could be a bit better. Tried to rush us. Don't know if we will be back

We loved our experience at Spice Route! We had two vegetarian dishes that were to die for. Our baby also tried curry for the first time, and we think he is now a lifelong fan -- the service was excellent, especially with a baby (high chair, changing pad in the restroom, etc). Umesh was a great server and we appreciated his attention to detail and thoughtfulness in helping us select the perfect dishes. We will be back! read more

My daughter wanted to eat here so I did it for her. It's not my type of food but I did enjoy the chicken and broccoli. Everything was just too spicy for me and I normally like heat. I really did like that mango drink though. read more

It's more of a 3.5, but I'm not that guy to round down. The cauliflower appetizer was tasty, but a little over done with sauce for my taste. I did enjoy my goat and the pistachio kulfi was just ok. Given all that, I do need to mention value. Those of you who read my reviews know I only do that about once every 90 days. I can tell you that with tip, my meal...an app, goat masala, the kulfi and a Diet Coke came to $46. In Boston or NYC I get it, not in Stroudsburg. Having said all that, if you like choices (Thai, Indian) maybe you'll like it. read more

Was there today with my SIL. Haven't seen her in a while and we accidentally took a 2.5 hour lunch!!! The service was amazing. The guys let us chatter away and kept up with our water!!! The restaurant is a very interesting concept and has Indian food flare I'm every bite regardless which Manu you order from. Everything is spicy (you can ask for less spice). The folks who work there are lovely. The place is clean. The food is fresh. We love that we can get three different cuisines for all family members in one restaurant. I found this place on my recent visit to Stroudsburg. Being from India, it is a constant struggle to find authentic Indian food outside of New Jersey so I was very happy to try them when I saw the reviews. Now I would definitely give them a shout out for the selection of items on the menu. They had a HUGE menu. Indo Chinese (Yes, it's a thing!), tandoori, North Indian curries. Ask and you shall receive. They have a yelp offer of free mango martini with dinner but it's only one per table. So if you come in a group of friends and are splitting the check, then you have to fight for your right to a free drink. They have a full bar and service for take out was pretty good. Now for the food, we ordered an American Chopsuey (Yes, it's another Indian thing!) and chicken manchurian from their indo chinese menu. I wish they had asked for our spice options because the food was not spicy at all. I know American Chopsuey is on the sweeter side but this one was too sweet. Chicken Manchurian was passable. Manchurian with gravy comes with steamed rice so keep that in mind when you're adding fried rice or noodles to your order. I was quite excited about this place and would have gladly come back for Sunday lunch before we went back home if the food was anything to rave about. I would want to try the Indian curries next time though. read more

After leaving Camelback Resort, which is a MUST btw, with my family we yelped and found Spice Route. Everyone but me was hungry and had decided to pick off of everyone else's plate. After smelling food that was brought out for another family I quickly decided to order a kathi roll. My family ordered: aloo gobi, Dal Tadka, Eggplant Szechwan, Lucha paratha and Garlic Naan. Everything was delicious. The kathi roll was a little oily but the flavor and the green chutney were amazing. Eggplant was the only thing I wasn't crazy for. I ended up finishing up the food. The person who was not going to eat anything when we walked in. Point is, if you are craving Indian and are in the area, you can't go wrong. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner as we have been meaning to try for a while. I had been craving samosas so we ordered those. My husband loves wings so he ordered those as a starter. The samosas were perfect with the traditional tamarind and mint chutneys to accompany. They were very large so we should have split an order. The wings were also very meaty and SUPER crispy which was a plus for me, nice with a drizzle of the sweet chili sauce provided. The menu is somewhat overwhelming so we had a hard time choosing. I ended up with chili noodles that the waiter recommended and my husband got a massaman curry (both with chicken). Both were good, though chicken slightly dry. If the breast meat were velveted both dishes would have been improved. Spice profile was very good and the rice was cooked to perfection. We did order naan but it was forgotten so can't comment on that, but we ended up bringing food home as it was, so asked that they just remove from bill which they graciously obliged. We ordered catering for a birthday gathering, we ordered trays of the Manchurian cauliflower, wings, chili garlic lamb, Hakka noddles and chili garlic fried rice, per the owner all the meat except the duck and dumplings were halal. Everything was delicious and flavorful. It was made spicy to our liking and everyone enjoyed it. Highly recommend for catering or even dine in/take out. Restaurant is located where pizza Hut used to be. The decorations inside are amazing. It is really a gorgeous atmosphere. All the staff is friendly, down to earth, very neat & clean clothes. While coming from Poconos we visited this place with friends. The food was really good. We ordered variety of dishes, soups, chicken vindalu, chettinad, veg Manchurian, chicken Manchurian, goan fish curry, drums of heaven, paneer roll and samosa chat. All dishes were very tasty. Specially to mention Indo chinese. everyone was very hungry after 2 hrs of trek and finished each and every dish like hungry lions. Now some of the negatives - Goan fish curry was not authentic but making fish dishes is a rare skill. Naans could have been better. Soups were ok. The service at the restaurant was very luke warm. The person who took our order didnt even smile at once and didnt give us a welcome feeling. Whatever questions asked were answered with a straight face. For that matter little on rude side. With 18% gratuity included in the check for a big group you can smile a bit. Same was with server. Not much of a smiler. The owner once came and asked if we r ok. That was only saving grace. We had the cauliflower appetizer, which was extremely sugary. They were out of the appetizer I had originally wanted. I had the mulligatawny soup which was very delicious. We were surprised to find an Indian restaurant during our trip to Poconos. The food was fresh and delicious! We polished it in minutes. We ordered-Apps: Momo's, louts stem chaat, chilly paneer (beware has actual chillies), achari paneer, entrees: malai kofta (was heavenly) and dal makhani (very delicious). Our family had a great lunch experience at this place during our visit to Poconos. I am not sure if we were in the right place at the right time but the experience still haunts us and every dish that we ordered from the menu came out to perfection. Yelp came to our rescue again when we were spending our memorial day weekend in Poconos and were craving for good Indian food. The interior was sublime. We were a party of 7 people and were seated right away. We found it odd for an Indian restaurant to not offer buffet especially during weekends. Their menu was pretty extensive and true to their name it reflects a cross-marriage between Indian, Chinese and Thai. There are options for everyone. We ordered Fried shrimp with garlic, onion and chilli, Lamb beijing and Lettuce wraps with chicken for appetizers. The portions were good and very satisfying. The main entree was Lamb roganjosh, Murg Kadhai and Shrimp with Hot garlic sauce. Again i don't remember the last time i had such a wonderful Indian food experience!! I am still second guessing myself as i write this review if that was only a 1-time experience. Hopefully it is not and the next time i am around Poconos, i have a place to go!! read more

We ordered take out from here. I will start by saying the Hakka noodles and pineapple fried rice were good. But the lotus stem appetizer was thrown directly in the garbage. It was uncooked and extremely hard. When we called the restaurant they tried to say we were incorrect - not well handled. Don't order the lotus stem appetizer. The restaurant was full when we went at 8 ish after going to Aquatopia. We ordered the Chicken Taki Marsala. For $18 the portion was indeed small and $3.50 for naan. The thai tea was watered down. We also had pad thai and hakka noodles which were great. Pretty busy so the food took long but they opened past scheduled hours. The chicken masala was a bit too spicy for me but the shrimp was perfect and they definitely don't skimp on shrimp. The garlic naan was nicely flavored and crispy and I wish we had gotten more. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because this place was significantly pricier than most Indian restaurants I've been to which were comparable in quality, and they only give you a tiny amount of rice so if you want more you have to pay. read more
