Open for dine-in until 9pm. We ordered pad Thai (#10) with chicken and steamed tofu and mixed veggies, Thai extra hot, pad prik (#40) with chicken and steamed tofu, mushrooms. The pad Thai is pretty good, it's definitely extra hot. The noodles are nicely cooked, slightly chewy too. The pad Thai comes with a lemon here. The Thai chillies were left whole too. Pad Thai here is about a 3.5-4 star for us. The pad prik has decent flavor. Hint of garlic for sure, I like it. Chicken and tofu is plentiful. A few chicken pieces that were gristly. Dish overall wasn't bad. There's onions and green onions in this dish, a tad too much for me. It's 3 for me. Service was good here for sure. It's mostly a carry out spot. It's really not that great. Pad Thai is sub par. It was very dry and not enough juice when stirring it up to bring it back to life. The flavor also is pretty bland. I did like the texture of the noodles though and the spice levels here are nice! It's hotter than most Thai places in the area but I like that. Medium made my nose run! My wife got pad see ew chicken and she did not like it. I tried it and I felt the same way. The flavor can best be described as watered down bbq sauce. The sauce was so runny it barely stuck to the noodles. Sad experience because I have friends who recommended this place to me. Maybe it was a bad night or one of the cooks is better than another? 6:30pm on a Friday night and I was the only one getting food here. Whenever I get an order here, usually in a group, it is a toss-up on the heat level. You ask for medium, it is a 50/50 chance whatever will torch your mouth and soul or a comfortable nose run. Mercy if ordering hot. What I don't understand is that when you ask for no spice and still get spice. I'll stick with stuff that does not require a spice level like the soups and rolls. read more

Delicious looking photos and wonderful reviews made this place look like a diamond in the rough, and walking into the restaurant to grab my carry out I was assured my food was going to be delicious from the pleasant smells and the especially friendly girls working. The atmosphere looked clean and it had an authentic feel. Only a few minutes in and I was already excited to plan my next visit. Drive home, get inside, open up my carry out and bam. Instant dissatisfaction. The Pad Thai looked absolutely horrible. And the taste was right there with it. The lack of flavor put my mood into pure misery and complete disappointment. Our curry was a bit better although I still believe it only tasted good because I hadn't ate basically all day and was starving. And that says even more about the Pad Thai. I even asked for no mushrooms in the curry and they still put them in there, and that's beyond frustrating. And it had WAY too much bamboo shoots in it. The portions of the meals were decent, but it just wasn't enough. Pad Thai should be one of the best options to get at ANY Thai Restaurant. But if I hadn't had Pad Thai before, and this was the first place I ate at, I would probably never eat Thai food again. Perhaps I'm cursed when it comes to carry out, and I need to just eat inside certain restaurants. I think I would be willing to give this place another shot, eating inside of course, because of the beginning of my experience. Went here for lunch while waiting around at the dealership. The food came out quick and it was delicious. Got the shrimp springs rolls & the fish pad ped. Everything was hot and fresh. The fish was cut up pieces that was deep fried to crispness. The curry was kinda spicy for me and i got mild. So if you don't like spicy, don't get any spice. Prices were also good for the price. Decent thai food when you are in a crunch. Got a lunch order of chicken pad thai and kow pad pak with beef. Off the bat, order the spice one level down. I always order my thai food hot but it was off the hook. So anyway, the pad thai was 95% noodles. A few tablespoons of peanuts, did not see any bean sprouts, onions, egg or anything else. Food is always good there. They no longer do eat-ins but take outs are quick and fast.

One of my fave thai places around! Spicy Thailand curry noodle is delicious. And they're happy to do custom orders with additions or substitutions. The restaurant itself is very small, better for carry out. Other than that I love this place. read more

I'm a huge fan of Thai food and have been to many restaurants around the Metro Detroit area. When Spicy Thailand opened, I was quite excited to try it, particularly since it was close to work. I was impressed on my first visit, and also a bit surprised that their spice level was considerably higher than everywhere else I'd been. I was a little unhappy that the waitress told another table ordering after us "Order one level below what you usually do -- we make everything hot!" My mouth was on fire that day! But my brief love affair with Spicy Thai has been over for a while now. They have cut down on the amount of meat in every dish I've ordered, to the point that if I find anything other than a peanut-sized piece of chicken it's like I've hit the jackpot. Their prices may be reasonable, but if all I'm buying is rice and sauce then it's not really a good deal. I suggest going elsewhere for Thai food. Somehow my order got defaulted to an address one mile away and the delivery driver gave me the hardest time about bringing my food one extra mile. I even offered him an extra tip. He told me he had two other orders now in front of me when I've already waited 45 min. Very upset with the customer service and ended up cancelling my order. I wouldn't even give this one star if that was the option. I had my food delivered to me at work and was starving! I opened it up and started eating and when moving the food around I found something black that had hair on it! I'll post a pic but it sure looks like a roach leg or something of the sort. I am beyond disgusted! And when I called to tell them the guy in the background just told the lady on the phone to tell me to call the delivery service and ask for a refund there. I love this place! I've been eating here for years and it's never disappointed. Kow Pad Pak aka the number 36 is my favorite! The parking can be spars during peak hours but not a big deal. I have a huge appetite for Thai food and have eaten at a countless Thai restaurants. I have never been to one that can compare to Spic y Thailand. They always have the freshest vegetables, high quality meats, quick turn around times and a nice wait staff. Just one caveat, the spiciness level is a little tuned-up, so beware when ordering. The one and only downfall of this place are the portion sizes. It wouldn't hurt to be a little bit larger, but their prices make up for it. A typical dish is $6.50 add spring rolls and soup and it's still under $10! read more

I'm shocked by the praise this place is getting. Either I can't trust most people's reviews or I went on a VERY off day. I usually go to Sunny Thai but I wanted to try some thing different. We actually tried to go to Amarin Thai but they were closed. We stumbled upon Spicy and I was a bit leery when I walked in and they were playing country music, when in Warren I suppose. The menu did a good job of explaining the dishes, the problem was the ingredients in the food didn't match the menu. Here's a breakdown: The Shrimp Rolls (on the menu it says ground chicken and shirmp) it was actually a spring roll wrapper wrapped around a piece of shrimp and deep fried. NO ground chicken in the roll at all. Tom Yum: it was by far the worst I've ever had. When I ordered it my server asked me how hot I wanted it. Um, Hot, I said. Normally Tom Yum isn't made to order. This soup was literally hot water with crushed chili, two small shrimp and some onion. No ginger, no kaffir lime, mushroom etc. It was actually so unbearably hot the server was shocked I ate as much as I did. Pad Prik Khing with chicken (Hot) it was okay (my bf's order) and the only thing that matched the menu. It was just chicken and green beans in a red curry. The big let down was my order of Gang Pah, the menu says it's a red curry with onion, pepper, bamboo, green bean, eggplant, baby com, pea pods, broccoli, napa, carrot, and rhizome (no mention of coconut milk). My order had coconut milk (which I like to avoid) it had no napa, no pea pod and little to no broccoli. The spice level was nice and spicy but the dish that was delivered didn't not match the menu description. Yet another great strip mall restaurant. As you enter you are greeted with warm, smiling faces and clean, stark room with small works of Thai art and tapestries on the wall. The table cloths are vibrant pieces of thai silk. What really makes this place 4 star is the food. I started with a Thai Ice Tea - perfect - it had a nice sweetness to it but one could still taste the smooth undertones of the tea. For my main course I had a rice, noodle, and curry dish. All were excellent. We ordered the Kow Pad for a rice dish which left a little fire on the tongue. I don't know what noodle dish we order but it was yummy. Flat noodles with fresh veggies, the spicy was offset with a sweetness. We choose a red curry, Gang Gai that didn't disappoint - huge chunks of tofu! All of our dishes were ordered spicy--- had a nice bite without loosing the flavors of the dish. The ingredients were all fresh. This is my new favorite Thai restaurant. All in all, Spicy Thailand is a small, clean local Thai restaurant where the owners are awesome and the food is excellent. I can't wait to try more like the Tom Yum, Pad Kee Mowl (basil noodles), and Vegetable curry. We are fortunate to live in an area were there is such a diversity of cultures. Love going to lunch here! Very affordable and very good! The people who work here are very friendly. And the food is always great! Be warned hot is very very spicy and not for the weak at heart. During the lunch hour it gets pretty full and seating is limited. But carry out is very fast and a great option if your on a time limit. This place is under new ownership but the cooks still rock the dishes! Brand new wait staff (that can comprehend English...always a plus). My favorite is the Gang Gai chicken! They're sauce is always on point. I haven't had anything here that disappointed me. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food. After a dozen or more visits, I figured I'd do an update. Experiencing the other Thai restaurants in the area, this place easily takes the top spot. Good service and consistently delicious food earned this place 5 stars. The phad thai has an amazingly sweet taste that just makes you want more.. and thank you to the chef for spicing it up. Best Thai food for 50 miles. Excellent noodle dishes and soups. We enjoy spring rolls, chicken satay and soup for the apps. We like the spicy me Thai with either chicken or shrimp. We go mild on spice but my extended family love medium or hot spices and are never disappointed. Don't forget to try a Thai iced tea: sweet and creamy! Update: things have slipped a bit. I have also eaten at MANY different Thai Restaurants throughout the greater Metro Detroit area. This one is good, their food is quite good. I, personally, wouldn't give a rating of "5-Stars" to a place like this just because of the dining room (if you can call it that). The service is great, I am surprised at how quickly they fill orders during peak hours. The parking lot is rather small as it is located just north of the corner on the northwest corner of Van Dyke and 11 Mile Rd. I am normally not a big fan of Asian cuisine since I've grown up eating homemade Asian dishes. It's become a staple part of my diet to the point I'm not really excited about it in the same way I am not excited about breakfast cereal or orange juice. Anyhow, Spicy Thailand's dishes are pretty standard fare for Thai dishes. Their new menu makes a lot more sense with better descriptions. The prices are reasonable, you'll eat your meal and walk out after paying tip for just under $10 on average. I'm not a big fan of spicy foods, so I usually order the Mild or no spice. Mild still feels like it is burning my mouth with each bite. If you don't mind squeezing in during peak lunch hours, go at anytime. If you want some space, go there around 12:30 or later, as the lunch hour has passed and people are on their way back to work. read more

First time trying this place. I was a little worried based on some of the other more recent reviews. However, everything was great. The pad thai was good, the crab rangoon was good, and the spring rolls were good. Nothing bad. Everything tasted fresh. I wish I would have taken photos because it all looked good even considering I had it delivered. And it was all still hot as if it came right out of the kitchen. Spicy Thai is better than average overall. The place is always packed at lunch, so that has to tell you something. Pad Thai is the best. I usually eat Gang Gai or Patsy Yue, but not here. The waitress is very nice! Free soup is a nice complement to the meal. Portion size is on the smaller scale. It was cold, wet and snowing when I landed in Detroit, MI. I had another 45 minute drive to my final destination which was Warren, MI. I was starving and drove by this place called Spicy Thailand which peaked my interest b/c I LOVE spicy food! I quicky went to my hotel to check in and left for the restaurant up the street. The menu was simple which kind of scare me but I was hungry and cold so a nice big bowl of soup was on my mind. I saw a soup called Kow Theel Namh and asked the owner (I think) if it was good and she said yes but she then told me that dish is best served with beef which I had no problem with. (You can have different meats or seafood if you like) I asked them if I could also have the egg noodle mix in with the rice noodle which they allowed, AWESOME!!! I tried it and I was blown away it was FANTASTIC! Reminded me of some great Thai soups I had in the past but really did not expect it from here! I'm def. coming back before I leave Warren.
