    Beef kabob sandwich

This was my first time trying Spicy Water and they did not disappoint! I love places with great customer service and this place is one of them. I had the beef kabob sandwich with a side of plantain and it was the perfect lunch. I can see Spicy Water becoming a DC staple.

My experience with Spicy Water was phenomenal. I got the grilled Red Snapper plate, with fried plantains, french fries, and yucca. The Snapper marinade was mild, but very flavorful, and they provide a sauce on the side for extra spice. I recommend pre-ordering to avoid the lines and also secure a plate before they run out (Instagram: @spicywaterafricangrill). Also, the grilled Red Snapper plate is $40, but it can easily feed two people.

I came across Spicy Water African Grill at Eastern Market one Saturday and knew I had to try it. You can smell the stand around the market and the chicken just looked so good. They were cooking fish as well, but I went for the chicken and fries. It was delicious. Very well seasoned and I enjoyed the thicker, steak-cut fries. I'm obsessed with the sauce though. It's spicy and flavorful and when I return, I'll likely buy extra sauce. I'm hoping they add more sides to the menu. The chicken and fries travel well and are excellent reheated. Definitely a new favorite spot.

Then, check out SHYSTERS!…read more Owned and run by Mr. Isaac, the menu is pretty straightforward, as it only has 2 options: The Correct Hot Dog is topped with spicy brown mustard and sauerkraut; The Hot Dog with the Wrong Toppings is your choice from ketchup, pickled onions, relish, giardiniera, etc. HA! We, obviously, went for the Correct version! Steamed perfectly, simple, and tasty! I love the fact that they serve RC Cola - they also have moon pies, stickers, and even treats for pups! The owner, Isaac, is super friendly, and he genuinely loves his patrons! Get there early, as the line builds up! The gluten-free bun is something super special. It's not the cheapest but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I even enjoyed the spicy brown mustard when I usually go for yellow mustard on a New York hot dog. In addition, even the non gluten free buns seem specially baked and not your average buns. Overall, I took one star off mainly because of the location and the hot dog meat by itself while kosher isn't going to wow you necessarily. I would recommend going during daylight. Noma smelt like weed and I was approached by a homeless man who grabbed my hands closer to Union market. The area the stand is in seems a bit safer thankfully.

We sat directly in front of the band and speakers. Id suggest pushing tables back a bit. We ordered from the late night menu. Pls note after 10pm the menu is limited. We ordered the honey hot wing and fries as well as the jerk wings. I assumed the jerk was grilled and it wasn't. They were very spicy if you like spice. We didn't order cocktails. The jerk chicken sandwich was kinda small and Chicken thighs are used. The overall vibe was decent and the price wasn't bad at all. I would visit again

It's a small but quaint spot with a mix of booth and table seating, making it a nice place for a relaxed dinner with friends. As a picky eater visiting for the first time, I kept my order simple with wings and rice. The wings were the highlight of the meal--crispy, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The rice, however, was disappointing. It was dry and lacked seasoning, and I found myself wishing it had at least a little butter and salt to enhance the flavor. The mocktails were delicious and complemented the meal well. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The music was at the perfect volume--easy to enjoy while still being able to carry on a conversation without shouting, which made for a pleasant evening with friends. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout the meal. One small note: the ladies' restroom was clean but very small and narrow. It had a hook-and-latch style door but no place to hang a purse, which would be a nice addition. Parking on H Street is always a hit or miss, so plan accordingly if you're driving. Ratings: * Food: (3/5) * Atmosphere: (3/5) * Service: (4/5) * Dinner with Friends: (5/5) Overall, Lydia on H is a pleasant neighborhood spot with friendly service, tasty wings, and excellent mocktails. While the rice missed the mark for me, I enjoyed the company, the conversation, and the relaxed atmosphere. I would consider returning to try other menu items.
