A friend introduced me to spielman and I am sold. The bagels are so good! I don't like cream cheese so I am so glad there are lots of sandwich options for people like me. The sausage egg and cheese was really good and a generous portion. I ate half one day and half the next day. The staff are really nice and I love being able to watch them at work in the back. Inside is very cozy with some tables to sit at. You'll have to park on the street so beware of that.

Great tasting bagels! I arrived around 9:30am on a Saturday morning, and there was a small line. It took a bit to prepare my lox bagel, but it was well worth it. The line was out the door when I left. The bagel itself was perfectly toasted, and they were generous with the salmon and cream cheese. The staff was friendly, and it was a good experience overall.

You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy a good bagel, but it helps. I think it's genetic, maybe that is why we are referred to as the chosen people? Either way I am glad my life has been enriched by the bagel, and I am more thankful that Portland is starting to get a good selection of bagel shops that see the benefit in boiling those rings of happiness. The staff was very nice, which you cannot always say about some bagel shops. I walked in and told the lady behind the counter it was my first time at this location and she was very patient while I scanned the selection. Really, how can you really judge a place like this? The Everything bagel! Why, you may ask? It's all in the topping, the amounts of poppy seed, fennel, salt and other ingredients, not enough salt makes it lack flavor, too much and it overpowers. Happily Spielman's has a good concoction. The smoked salmon schmear was a little too fishy, it would be better if they blended it less and utilized small pieces of lox. It wasn't bad, it was just a lot. The space is really nice, very comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. Parking seems like it should be harder, but every time a space always seems to magically appear, if not in front then right around the corner. If I have one problem here it is the prices. There are a selection of boiled bagel places here now and of them all this seems to be the priciest. It is a darn good bagel but I have had better for less at other places. Now, will that stop me from getting my bagel fix here if I am close? No, I don't mind too much for a bagel and schmear, but I don't buy my dozen here. The staff makes up for it.

I highly recommend ordering the roasted tomato, greens, veggie sausage (substituted instead of the bacon) & mayo sandwich on the everything bagel! This bagel sandwich has been a go-to of mine for years and it never disappoints. Make sure to get here early if the bagels are what you're going for though! I went a few times this week and they were sold out of bagels the first two times (both times were after noon) but third times a charm

This location is very spacious. I don't believe dine-in is available currently but there's a cute patio out front with tables to relax and eat at. I'm from NY so I admit I can be a bit jaded about bagels but I like the quality offered at Spielman.

Came here 4 days in a row right before work and loved every bite !!

Great bagels and coffee. Good vibes with the local clientele. Highly recommend Lox #1 and a cappuccino, well that's what I love!

The closest thing to NYC bagels. My favorites are the lox cream cheese, breakfast sandwich, and the arugula/cream cheese/bacon/jam bagel.

Split pea soup was amazing. Bagels were good-garlic bagels were our favorite, with spicy pepper cream cheese.

Nor exceptional. Staff was distracted and didn't seem to care despite there being few customers. The bagel was ok, coffee, blah

Not gonna lie, some of the worst bagels I've ever had. Way too chewy, it hurt my jaw to eat them. Would not return.

Does this location offer the vegan bagel sandwich options (v bacon, v ham, v egg, v cheese)?

YES! There is always a vegan option available for cheese, egg and bacon. Unsure about consistent substitutions for ham, but have seen specials every few weeks involving vegan egg and sausage sandwiches. All are yummy by the way.

Does this location offer vegan bacon, vegan cheese, vegan egg like the other locations?

When do they have the rainbow bagels?

Yes! 🌈 ...at least right now they do. 😉 6/30/19

Lots of people hanging out in the shop, some working, some talking, but it seemed like a good spot to get some stuff done. There was music playing that set a welcoming mood. Overall, highly recommend if you enjoy flavored lattes.

The two-tops are fairly snug together so it can feel like you're eavesdropping or being listened to. There's counter seating along one side which had some refreshing morning sun- when a couple seats opened up there, we moved and were very comfy. There are a couple of cozy chairs in the front window and some additional counter and lounge seating in an adjoining room. The drink quality and presentation were high quality and delicious. The cost of a 12oz latte ($7) with no special milk was higher than other cafes I've been to recently around Portland including places that create their own syrups for specialty drinks of the month. That said, I don't begrudge the cost of a masterfully hand-crafted, drinkable cup of art and that is exactly what I received. I think the cost stuck in my head because the welcome did not feel particularly warm at the register. They were having an animated conversation with the barista and I couldn't help but feel like we were inconveniencing them by saying good morning and trying to order. When we picked up our orders, the barista was warm and friendly. Overall, it's a delightful spot in an equally lovely neighborhood.
