Heard a lot about this shop so finally got to check it out. Look like they have a few locations but visited 23rd. Mostly indoor seating and was very busy on a Friday mid-morning. We arrived before 11am and they were pretty much all of out of bagels except for a few of the basics so was bummed to not be able to try a unique flavor of bagel as it looked like they had a good amount. Not sure if that's normal or not, but I got a Sesame Breakfast Sandwich with egg, cheese, & bacon. It was solid, but between the limited options and the hype, was left with wanting more. A good solid bagel. Lots of flavors, but only one made with whole wheat. The flavored spread didn't have a particularly strong flavor. Ordering ones fast and easy, and my order came quickly. This is an unpretentious bagel shop with chill, friendly employees. We ordered a turkey on sesame bagel and was able to easily customize it. We were also able to skip a bagel and order a BLT on sourdough. The employee told us (and was right) that the sourdough was great. We were pleased with both of our sandwiches. The bagel was the perfect texture. The BLT had hot, fresh bacon, with crisp lettuce and tomatoes. My partner also tried the blueberry lemonade. It was a beautiful color and tasted great. The restaurant was bustling, but the feel was casual. Everyone in the restaurant was enjoying their meals; I didn't hear any complaints. read more

I always love coming to this bagel shop every time I'm in Portland. It's conveniently located right on NW 23rd street alongside the local shops and restaurants. The service is always fast every time I go, and the menu has a great variety of bagels, cream cheeses, and bagel sandwiches to choose from. They have some sit in tables as well as some outdoors but it is frequently busy on the weekends and sometimes tougher to find a spot. Overall, I would highly recommend this little shop it youre looking to grab some breakfast/brunch or just want a bagel to walk around with while you walk the street! read more

A NYC-style deli in Nob Hill. Immediately, you get transported to NYC with their ambience. High ceiling, booth seatings, and unique deli chairs and tables. The only difference is the staffs are much friendlier than in NYC. We got the Egg, Cheese, and Meat Sandwich with sausage on an everything cheese bagel. The sandwich looked amazing. Loved the gooey cheese on top. While the flavors were good, I thought the sandwich was pretty dry with no sauce. Tapatio helped here but maybe having some cream cheese in there wouldn't hurt. We also tried the Pastrami Knish which was a small potato pastry. I enjoyed the peppery pastrami filling. Unique but nothing to die for. Food was like a 3.5 for me but the ambience was 5/5. I stopped by this morning to check out this new (ish) location on 23rd. I was really sad to see Kornblatt's close, so it took me a while before I was ready to try it's replacement. The interior of the restaurant is much the same as Kornblatt's, with a small indoor eating area with diner like tables. I assume when the weather is warmer they'll put up tables outside too. Service was friendly, with the cashier recommending a bagel to complement the sandwich I wanted. They offer rewards if you enter your phone number at checkout, with 10% off after 5 visits. I've tried the bagels from Henry Higgins on the east side, and I'd had mixed experiences. But I'm writing this review solely on the one bagel sandwich I just had, which was almost perfect. I am rounding 4.5 stars up to 5. I had a lox with all the fixin's (tomato, red onion, capers, dill) on a pumpernickel bagel. It was so delicious, I really took my time and savored every bite. My only wish for it to be truly perfect: I prefer a denser cream cheese than Henry Higgins uses. When I take a bite I want to be able to see my teeth marks left in the cream. I love It dense and rich and absolutely delicious all on its own, where I want to eat it by the spoonful (but I won't, I promise). Spielman's used to have the best cream cheese in town with the perfectly dense rich cream and excellent flavor, but recently it's been a bit more "spreadable" like everyone else uses. Still, what a great bagel. Good chewy bite, and you can see the little bubbles on the shiny surface (that mean they do boil them), just the right texture where it holds its shape bit it's too too dense. For the lox sandwich, here are the reasons it was above and beyond other lox sandwiches I've had: 1. It was served with lemon wedges. Lemon really marries all the flavors, brings out a brightness in the salmon, and it also slightly pickles the red onion. I got my bagel to go so there was some time for this to happen which was delicious, though letting it sit is not ideal for the perfect texture between the bagel and cream cheese, but it was a choice I made. Honestly if the restaurant doesn't, I would love them to soak their red onions in lemon juice, maybe with the capers, and then you'd have this bright flavor right away. 2. The red onions were very finely sliced. Nothing can ruin a sandwich quicker than a bit fat slice of raw onion. 3. Tomato slices were firm and flavorful. 4. Little sprigs of fresh dill. What only 11 reviews? This place was packed! When I was here today from 915-12. Started to lessen for lunch hour. Huge groups of people here laughing, having fun with absolutely delicious bagels. I never went to kettlemmans (?) bagel before they were bought out. But this is how I'd imagine it. Boiled bagels are different and so delicious than other bagels. It's so inviting to dine here. Then scour the many other hidden gems here. So many fun shops to see to be explored. The decor here is deli style, and so inviting. With a mixture of Half booths, and tables with the metal retro diner chairs and wood paneling walls. They pulled off the NYC Traditional Deli style. You walk in and to the left they have the bagels displayed in a case with baskets. And another deli case nearby with the matzo ball soup and a collection of cream cheese for the delightful Schmear! Many other deli selections! Can I also say Yummy Pickles!!! I ordered matzo ball soup, a pound of their plain and scallion cream cheese - which they're known for. Also a turkey sandwich on Rye bread , it was~ "delicious! And some bagels to go with that cream cheese "of course" some sesame seed, and jalapeño! On my visit to Portland, my Airbnb host recommended this place for breakfast so I came because I wanted a bagel. Theres so many flavors of bagel and some items to eat on display here. I got the eggs, meat(sausage), and cheese on the everything bagel. Super fresh and amazingly delicious bagel. On the side, I got a 16oz americano. This was the perfect little breakfast to get my day started. There is plenty of dining space and particular charm to this bagel spot. Also in great neighborhood! Service was friendly and the interior looked okay. The bagels that I bought were 2 raisin, 1 sesame, 1 poppy seed, 1 plain, and 1 pumpernickel. I've just had the raisin so far. They have really good matzo ball soup, the shmaltzy flavor is outstanding. However, the matzo balls themselves are a bit of a miss. I think I might have gotten some old ones, the soup was best by the day after I bought it, so they might have been near the end.
