    Customized turkey bagel
    Heather B.

This is an unpretentious bagel shop with chill, friendly employees. We ordered a turkey on sesame bagel and was able to easily customize it. We were also able to skip a bagel and order a BLT on sourdough. The employee told us (and was right) that the sourdough was great. We were pleased with both of our sandwiches. The bagel was the perfect texture. The BLT had hot, fresh bacon, with crisp lettuce and tomatoes. My partner also tried the blueberry lemonade. It was a beautiful color and tasted great. The restaurant was bustling, but the feel was casual. Everyone in the restaurant was enjoying their meals; I didn't hear any complaints.

I always love coming to this bagel shop every time I'm in Portland. It's conveniently located right on NW 23rd street alongside the local shops and restaurants. The service is always fast every time I go, and the menu has a great variety of bagels, cream cheeses, and bagel sandwiches to choose from. They have some sit in tables as well as some outdoors but it is frequently busy on the weekends and sometimes tougher to find a spot. Overall, I would highly recommend this little shop it youre looking to grab some breakfast/brunch or just want a bagel to walk around with while you walk the street!

Great bagel and lox -- excited to try more items on the menu. HOWEVER, the kitchen was playing heavy metal at 10am, loud enough to be heard throughout the entire place. It completely ruined the vibe and took away from the overall experience.

We haven't been here in awhile, but decided to stop by since we were in the area in the morning and they are one of the few spots that are open earlier. I ordered the breakfast bagel with sausage. The breakfast bagel did its job and satisfied my morning hunger. The people working here are friendly and also patient, as it to me awhile to decide what bagel to get. I do need to come back and try their lunch items.

    Everything Bagel with Schmear ;)

Been here and other HH shops multiple times. Nicely sized, just rightly toasted, chewy inside, tasty Schmear loaded for definite napkin followup. Classic NY style vibe at this location. Fun to sit and people watch the continuous stream of walk-ins in the morning. Classic NY service, they take your order.

This is a Blueberry bagel? Where are the blueberries? Other side looked plain also, but I had covered in cream cheese.

I was hoping for a great bagel. Service was very personable. I don't like it when you order a blueberry bagel and it's made with, I don't know, ground up dried blueberry flakes? That's a disappointment to me. How about a few blueberries you can see?

Pastrami Hot w/ Tomato Herb Bagel

Order: Tomato Herb Bagel w/ hot pastrami General Notes: The sandwich was just okay. You get a really small bag of lays with your purchase. The wait and pick up section is a little confusing! Cons: the bagel was toasted way to hard and the seasoning didnt really come through like I wanted.

Egg Meat & Cheese Bagel and Pastrami Knish

A NYC-style deli in Nob Hill. Immediately, you get transported to NYC with their ambience. High ceiling, booth seatings, and unique deli chairs and tables. The only difference is the staffs are much friendlier than in NYC. We got the Egg, Cheese, and Meat Sandwich with sausage on an everything cheese bagel. The sandwich looked amazing. Loved the gooey cheese on top. While the flavors were good, I thought the sandwich was pretty dry with no sauce. Tapatio helped here but maybe having some cream cheese in there wouldn't hurt. We also tried the Pastrami Knish which was a small potato pastry. I enjoyed the peppery pastrami filling. Unique but nothing to die for. Food was like a 3.5 for me but the ambience was 5/5. It's super nice on a not so busy day, sipping away on a bottomless drip coffee and snacking on some bagels. Would be back to try their lox sandwich!

bagel w/ meat cheese and egg

mid bagel that fell apart at glance the cheese was alright but the bagel and meat were the Star. couldn't get through the other half tbh (shown) service was nice but no one responded when i said thank you, twice ambiance was interesting, couple of people dining when an un-housed person walked directly into the kitchen. kitchen staff was polite and redirected the man. 3/5 : came around 8:30am paid $14 for 2 bagels

The breakfast sandwiches are good but their bagels are pretty small and now that they raised the price to $10 this is my last time coming here. That's a ripoff for a bacon egg cheese bagel. I already don't go to spielmans for that reason and this move just convinced me to just buy a breakfast sandwich maker from Amazon. Where I'm from a much better quality breakfast sandwich costs $5. Portland has gotten outrageous. Just go to McDonalds and get two McMuffins for $4

Boiled bagels are the absolute best, fresh, tasty and chewy. Curry chicken soup was also pretty good.

The food is solid, the service is not. To go order missing potato salad that I paid for, cashier did not listen to my order.

It is simply the best bagel in Portland. Great bagel egg sandwiches and also a classic with just cream cheese always hits the spot.

As i approached the building, I noticed that it was full of people. I fell into the street. I was in and out of consciousness. My heart was racing at the thought that I drove 15 hours and could not get a seat at SCREEN DOOR. As I walked into the building a humble man greeted me. He told me that they would clean off a table for me. WOO HOO. I bursted out crying at the thought that I finally got my seat. As I sat down a soft chair graced my bottom. Beautiful. I looked around and the scenery was beautiful. As I looked at the menu, my eyes sharply turned to the chicken and waffles. Deliciously perfect choice. I ordered my food and got a coffee. My chicken and waffles arrived and I took a bite. I started floating. My soul left my body. I looked down at my body as I floating away, I was enjoying every bite. I reached the heavens. A loud voice said "Its not your time yet. Return and enjoy the rest of your meal." I ascend back to the chair and every chicken and every waffle was gone. The servers were SO kind. I got my check and shead a tear, knowing that was the best meal of my life. Over all from kind servers to and delicious food, SCREEN DOOR was an awesome experience. I also loved my Sonnen Farm beets & baby spinach salad. The space is super cozy and homey. I highly recommend eating here for good food and great service.

There was a short line forming. The large windows give you a sneak peek at the opulence waiting inside. Upon walking in the main entrance, the first thing I noticed were the chandeliers. The inside is gorgeous. The walls are painted various shades of greens making it bright and gives off a soft and natural feel. Given I was dining solo, I decided to seat at the bar located off to the left. It seats 12 comfortably. A big plus for me are the seats. They had a high back and are super comfortable. I could see sitting for hours gabbing with friends. Nice upbeat electronic music played in the background. Loud enough to hear but soft enough that you can hear who is next to you. I ordered the Omelette du jour - Three egg omelette special with bacon, spinach, caramelized onions, gorgonzola and blue cheese. It was fantastic. The first thing that hit my palate was the blue cheese and caramelized onions. Delicious combination. I was happy to see that the omelette was overflowing with caramelized onions as I love them. The accompanying roasted potatoes were cooked perfectly. I also got an espresso martini to wake me up and give me a buzz to start my day. Upon first impression, if I lived in Portland, I would come here weekly. I could see this being the place for brunch with girlfriends to catch up over cocktails.

I really dig how superb the service was here considering how many tables this place had. I also wanted to applaud the manager on duty that morning to offer a homeless man coffee / food / emergency services when he was saying his head hurts. Between the genuinely friendly hospitality and the flavor combinations, this spot hits it out of the park and is a must for sandwich lovers. Griddled Mortadella (5/5): An incredibly delicious sandwich that perfectly balances rich, salty, and savory flavors. It comes loaded with a generous portion of grilled mortadella and melted provolone cheese, perfectly moistened with a tangy mustard aioli. The fresh lettuce and bell peppers added a satisfying crunch to every bite. Chefwich - K-Town Steak Sandwich (5/5): A limited-time creation packed into a banh mi roll. It had a generous portion of perfectly tender and sweet bulgogi steak that pairs with their melted jack cheese. The gochujang mayo sauce had a subtle and sweet heat, while the fresh kimchi added crunch and slight acidity to balance the rich meat. Elote Tater Tots (5/5): Definitely a creative side dish.
