Heavy on the seeded toppings, and on the cream cheese.

Goodness - Puddletown on Powell was a delightful place to celebrate a birthday breakfast. An everything bagel with scallion cream cheese made me very happy, and my wife was equally pleased with her sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. This location has a wonderful synergy with Zamora Coffee, that shares the storefront space. Both of the businesses have their own counter space and attendants, so we were able to order our food without sharing a lne with coffee drinkers. Puddletown is a small space, with the benefit of sharing a parking lot with a gym, a cart pod, a couple of retail spaces, and another restaurant, so access is easy and quick. I've found a new destination for freshly made, perfectly chewy bagels.

Just go to the grocery store and buy your own stuff to make a bagel. It will be faster and 100% better.

Best bagels in the area if you're a NYC bagel snob. Service was friendly, ambience isn't great but bagels make up for it. Seriously!

The seating area is a little Spartan, and it oddly shares space with a coffee shop called Cafe Zamora.

Cafe Rowan is hands-down my favorite brunch spot in Portland…read more The seating is limited, there's usually a line (be sure to put down your name on the list), and parking is limited so it can be a pain - but it's worth it every single time! They are centered around southern/seafood style menu. Their lobster roll is incredible, the oysters are always a treat, and the shrimp and grits are our go to! Their Bloody Marys come loaded and they have rotating coffee specials. You can even just pop in and grab a coffee to go like a neighborhood coffee shop! When I lived in SE, I came here at least once a month. Be sure to schedule a nap after your meal cause you're going to be so food happy it'll put you in a coma ;)

I waited a couple weeks to write this review so I could be fair about my experience. The bottom…read moreline is that I would rate their food as a six, and my service a one after being blown off by not one, but two employees. The whole experience just was a major turn off. Had a rough start. Walked in to the side of the restaurant where you can't see that it's an order first, then sit down place. A staff member, who we later learned was the chef, waved his arm in the general direction of the restaurant and said "We'll get you a......" and then trailed off as he saw a friend, made a beeline over to him, gave the guy a big hug, and then proceeded to completely forget that we exist and have a lengthy conversation. So now we're standing partly in the restaurant with no idea as to where we should be. So awkward. I almost turned around and left, but finally a waiter directed us to a seat and said he'd bring menus by so we sat awkwardly until we realized we would have to go up and order. He never did return with those menus. Although the food was delicious, the whole experience left me with a terrible taste in my mouth. To be treated like an inconvenience by the chef himself is beyond insulting. He sat for the entirety of our meal at his special table, entertaining people and greeting those that came by to grace him. The whole thing just was elitist, awkward, and frankly, rude. The quality of the food is still not enough to bring me back based on that kind of experience.

The drinks are that good - I'll risk the fury of a teen, once he looks up and realizes what I'm doing. The drinks are that good. Two days ago, I was getting a new fragrance (shout out Olo!!), and passed Yunomi on my way there. When I was returning to my car, I decided I try one of their drinks. The options were like nothing I'd seen at the other places around town. Foams of black sesame and sea salt?! I decided to really go for it - hojicha with a sea salt foam. There were a lot of people inside. There were several groups that ordered before me. Even with that, it was a short wait. New paragraph to emphasize that when I took my first sip, fireworks!! The hojicha was wonderful, and the sea salt foam! Before my second drink, I was already trying to figure out how to make sure every sip had that sea salt foam in it! That is why I am taking the risk of my son snapping - the flavor of Yunomi's drinks (maybe a matcha this time?) are worth it!!

Given the long line and continuous turnover, they move quickly and still deliver a high quality product. Music is also always top tier as well. Favorite bagel place hands down. We even clarified twice to the person working the counter that we want 'Just Egg' not Egg and she seemed confused by that, despite that being the name of the vegan eggs on the menu. I also ordered the vegan sausage, which they said after I paid for it that they didn't have it, so they offered to replace it with something else. I chose avocado, cucumbers and red onion which added up the same or close price as the vegan sausage, and they forgot to include the avocado. Overall it was a very poor experience especially because I broke two years of being vegan because of staff not paying attention.
