The Spigot is a nice casual bar to go to whether it's right after work, or on a Saturday afternoon when you have some down time. Cold beers and quality selections on tap. Don't get me wrong, this place is a dive- No windows and cash only but something about it is comforting. I really do wish they would take cards though. Paying an ATM fee to buy some drinks in 2017 is a bit insulting and can lead me to other local options when cash is not on hand. read more

The Spigot is one of my favorite bars in the Hartford/West Hartford area. Really great draft and bottle selection. Good specials including $3.50 drafts on Tuesday and $3.00 micro-brew and import bottles on Friday. The bar has lots of TVs, a jukebox, and a serious darts set up. Eclectic crowd including (but not limited to) sports fans, old men, and hipsters. Only downside is that they don't accept credit cards (they have an ATM) and there are no windows. read more

Cash only dive bar on the West Hartford/Hartford line. Can get pretty crowded at night with locals. Beers here are dirt cheap, and they have a great selection to choose from, including many fridges filled with bottled beer of every style and from all over the world. They have darts and a jukebox for entertainment. There's some takeout food nearby which I believe you can bring into the bar if you're looking for food too. Then again, I'm used to NY bars that serve a ton of craft and international beers so maybe I've been spoiled. The spigot is my second home on Sundays - Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays get a bit too crowded for my taste, but the other days it is nice and peaceful. You really expect better from bars you've been a patron of for years, but tonight, this is what happened: "I've got $X, and I'm looking for whiskey for myself, my girlfriend, and my best friend. What do you suggest?" "I'm not gonna recommend something for you." "Ok...you know my price range. What do you have?" "We've got whiskey. What do you want from me?" "I just..." "What do you think? We sample everything we have? I'm not gonna recommend anything to you." "I've been coming here for years. I've gotten some pretty great recommendations in the past." "I've worked here for 20 years. Just recently went to the spigot for a birthday celebration and I am a huge fan. It's a dive, but a glorious dive that focuses on its craft of serving booze and that's it. That's right people, you won't find any food here, but you will find tons of beer from all around the world. And it's cheap...go to their fridges and pick up $3 craft beers. Yup, $3. That will leave you with enough cash to order a pizza...right to the bar. How glorious is that? Yup, the Spigot is BYOF...bring, or in our case, get your own food delivered right to the bar. For all the posters complaining about the lack of cultured conversation and ambience....suck it. Any cursory glance of the exterior would indicate that it isn't a martini bar. If you're looking for the quintessential dive bar (and i mean that in a good way) this is the place. Great beer selection and weekly specials, TV's, darts and a jukebox. Clientele consists of interesting mix of blue collar locals, west enders, and students. Bottom line- if you're not into getting tanked on $3 draft beer, then do us all a favor and move on! read more

This bar is awesome. I'm not much for clubs, dancing, and douchey rich kids so this is my go-to spot. I would classify it as unpretentious instead of divey. Clean, an amicable crowd, good tunes, and to cap it all off a great (and cheap) beer selection. Keep tabs on the "best by" dates on some of the bottles in the fridge. I've had one or two that were past their prime. If you go on a weekend and want to get a table I'd recommend getting there before 9. If you want a dart board get there even earlier. And when I went there before it was just dirty (the bathroom was a mess) with a bunch of angry uninviting employees who snarl as I ordered my drink (which by the way are over priced for such a casual place). Its like drinking in your Dad's finished basement. Sports memorabilia everywhere. The drinks are very cheap (think $2 cans of Red Dog) and there are 3 dart boards on the wall. Tons of TVs to watch various sports. There is always a newspaper above the urinal to read, and that makes my day. read more
