The food and service amazing! We went there my boyfriend and I and I ordered a dirty martini with extra olives. The bartender was friendly and made a great martini. The best part is we went back a while later for a second visit, and she remembered exactly what I drink, and the estra without me saying a word. The food came out of timing dinner and was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxing and pleasant Update ----- I live down the street and applied for a job bartending . Went to this awesome restaurant and bar and we had a great time and great service , the food was amazing and delicious, tried the seafood stuffed mushrooms, the one of there famous bowls, I ask then separate the layers and they did. And everything was fantastic my wife had the blt it was perfect great selection of beers. And we met Chris the owner. One hell of a guy. Went here for the first time last night with my son. The food was excellent! Would recommend the pulled pork mac and cheese. The service was fantastic. Came here after a day in Manchester geocaching & flying kites with the kids. We were famished and in search of pizza. When the place we tried to go to had a 30 minute wait, we ventured to restaurant.com and ended up here. From the outside appearance, I wasn't sure if this place would be appropriate for kids, and after 9pm it's probably not, but at 6pm it was fine and the inside was actually nicely appointed for a meal. We were sat, and immediately the host asked if we were using a restaurant.com certificate (they must get alot), i replied, "Yes", and we were handed "coupon menus". Coupon menus?? WTF. I asked my brother-in-law to reach behind him and get me a "regular" menu, as i suspected they were raising the prices or something. They weren't, phew! But they were restricting some of the higher priced dishes, like Filet Mignon. If one were to use a $25 GC from restaurant.com, and order the filet, and 2 beers, you could walk out w/ tax & tip for about $16 (that's a steal). So we settled on shared apps for the table. Buffalo wings, nachos & sausage grinder. Everything was pretty delicious. The wings were perfectly spicy and crispy, but still tender & juicy on the inside. The sausage grinder had great flavor, and the sauce was really good. The nachos were exactly how nachos should be, piled high, still crispy and not drowned in toppings, but not skimped either. Service wasn't exactly outgoing, but was prompt & courteous. $33 w/ tax & tip after our $25 GC, not a bad deal. If i'm in the area i would return. read more

One of my favorite bar/restaurants in the area. Classic; been here for years. Food is great always home-made with fresh ingredients. NEW to the menu (on occasion) is smoked bar-b-que. Really, really good! Yesterday I had smoked St. Louis ribs. So good, so juicy that you don't even need to use your hands to eat. The meat literally falls off the bone with just a fork. Getting hungry again just thinking about it. Homemade baked beans and French fries out of this world. Another nice touch, you can get a half size order. Try it sometime. To start, let me say I've always been a fan of this place, though I'm a bit biased since it's so nearby. Either way, it can be a good choice if you're looking for a place to hang out with your friends and not be crowded out, or yelling just to hear each other. There's a patio too, which will be even nicer once the weather warms up and STAYS that way. Most recently I've gone in for a couple hours on the weekend, and came to find out they had a live band playing (which is apparently always the case on Fridays/Saturdays?). The last one was really good, particularly the guitarist. Between the two most recent trips I recall hearing covers of Petty, STP, Pearl Jam, Weezer, Jet, etc. Food: The loaded nachos are still bangin, and I had a burger recently that was very nicely done and for once a reasonable size, unlike the behemoths at other places. I had the South of the Border burger. The jalapenos on it could have been crisper and hotter, but the rest was perfect. Insider Info: Parking behind the building and in front of it on the street can get full quickly, but there's a perpendicular road (like if you walked out the front door, crossed the street and kept going) that you can park on. Back in the day bar. Like going back in time. Definitely a locals bar. but they were very friendly to this non-local. I wasn't planning on eating and then I found Escargot on the menu. Snails are very difficult to find these days. They were baked in a ceramic dish with cheese, butter and tons of garlic. They were delicious and there had to be at least 10 pieces. It is also served with two pieces of sourdough like toast that is great for dipping in the sauce. They have a nice selection of craft drafts. The barkeep is super friendly and did the follow-up that is rare to find these days. Nice ambiance. Plenty of off street parking in the rear. read more

NEW POLICY: there are two menus: the menu for regular customers and the special menu for people with restaurant.com vouchers (FYI - they are purchased coupons and not handouts or free). We don't care for "special menus" or any "special" (aka lesser) treatment so we won't be back until we've heard they've returned to regular menus for all customers. BTW, we did visit twice twice before I wrote this review just to be sure of what I'm writing here. The special menu is a smaller, abbreviated version of their regular menu. So you aren't going to get a little side salad with your entree or even a vegetable with it. When I asked our server if they had any fish that day, I was told the fish wasn't available for customers using the restaurant.com voucher. BTW you can't use those coupons for the daily specials either. How's this for ambiance?: you start your meal off with a special menu that's headed with a disclaimer about the coupon menu RULES. So hungry you, sits there and reads a couple of paragraphs about what you can and can't have. And really what you're reading is an extended excuse to not give you - the customer - the option to order what the person at the next table is having. So don't look around. Just check your special menu for what they're willing to give you for your money. IMO, this is a really stupid, insulting idea. NO ONE goes to a restaurant to be treated differently or given a special aka "lesser" menu. If we ate out only to save money, we'd eat cheaper food. We buy the coupons so we can choose from their menu, not a lesser one. And we buy them in advance so when we want to eat out, it's partially paid for. For that investment (because that's what it is) we get a discount. Supposedly it's a positive for everyone. Their prices aren't exactly inexpensive even WITH the coupon. I hate to say this, but this isn't what you'd call a high end restaurant where one would expect to pay extra for a vegetable a la carte. FOODWISE my husband's ribs were dry, my pot roast came with too much fat and gristly meat. No salads (we could BUY them) and no vegetables although I assume they were available for purchase as well. I'm surprised we were served a couple of slices of bread but no water even after asking for them. With a coupon, we ended up paying quite a lot for one appetizer, two entrees and drinks (minus the $25 coupon WE PAID FOR, plus the tip they automatically factor in at 20% - stellar service rate which is just fine but not when you won't serve someone a glass of water. Sorry, no. My message to HRC management: STOP THE CHARADE - EITHER RAISE YOUR PRICES TO COVER THE COSTS OR STOP SELLING DISCOUNT COUPONS VIA RESTAURANT.COM. We definitely got the impression they're giving the shaft to any fool who takes them up on buying one of their coupons. Apparantly if you want their regular menu - don't buy the coupons. Looks like we won't be back which is kind of sad because we considered HRC a good local place to eat in spite of that last meal, which was pretty bad. :( This entire experience went over with us like a lead sinker. We have been to HRC several times. It's a bit loud and the crowd is a little "rough around the edges" but the food has been OK. USE CAUTION if you are going there with any type of groupon, restaurant.com, etc. They now have 2 separate menus - one just for their "coupon" customers - and you guessed it - that menu has higher prices, none of the regular stuff included in the dinners, and no free refills on your soft drinks! Shabby tactic and poor business practice. If you don't want to give a "deal" then don't participate in the coupon sites! We will never go back. read more

The meal served to us was decent, but it was really nothing special. I had a buffalo chicken wrap with some fries, very basic indeed. And of course, the crowd stinks. Mostly consisting of smelly old men and smelly young softball teams, The Hartford Road cafe is not exactly the place to host your wedding reception. Additionally, this place is way too dark. Don't get me wrong, I like mood lighting and all, but when you can't see your food, it becomes an issue. I went here on a second date with my, now, girlfriend. She raved about their wings (the current main photo for the restaurant is actually one she posted), though we didn't eat. We had a couple drinks and everything was okay. Nice selection of beers and reasonably priced (I got an Arrogant Bastard and I think it was only $5... not bad). If I'd never gone back it would probably have gotten at least 3 stars from me (again, food untested). Unfortunately I went back a second time a few months later, again for just a quick drink. The drinks came out quickly but it took forever to get the bill. I think we waited about half an hour with empty glasses before my impatience became somewhat more vocal and the bill finally arrived. I live within walking distance to this cafe and prior to visiting it, I had dubbed it the "biker bar" because there are often motorcycles sitting out front. Didn't think it would be my kind of place so I never went in. I finally visited it for the first time a few months ago with a date (who seems to love hole in the wall dive bars so it was perfect for him!) and we have been back a few times since. It's obviously a local watering hole with tons of regulars who all seem to know each other. Not just a biker hangout, it seems to be mostly 30-somethings and up. They have had bands almost every time I've been in - including on the outdoor patio which is the best feature of the place for me as I'm a fan of outdoor seating on beautiful summer nights. The food is okay. Nothing spectacular, but the wings are delicious! The wait staff is excellent. Even on our second visit, the waitress remembered us and remembered what we drank. That's good service. I would recommend this place to any locals around Manchester or even if you're just passing through and looking for a comfortable, friendly atmosphere where "everybody knows your name". read more

The Drunken Steak was supposed to be rib eye, but was tough and full of gristle. This, too was accompanied by a thick garlic-laden gravy. I love garlic, but this was ridiculous. To think they charge $24.00 for this meal just blows the mind. The meals took so long to arrive we did not have the patience or energy to send them back. We threw out the leftovers. Definitely what you would call a 'local's bar'. Right off Rt 384 on Hartford Rd. this little bar has surprisingly good food and a very cozy/warm atmosphere. Often go in the winter time for some casual drinks w/ a group of friends. Fireplace is usually on in the colder months. If looking for a 'hole in the wall' to enjoy some laughs with people you most likely grew up with in Manchester, this is the place to run into them. Kind of a middle of the road place for us. 3.5 star if I could. Went after work because we heard there was a happy hour. The bar was full so we sat outside. The outside area is great! Loved it. When we asked for the happy hour specials, we were informed it was only for people sitting at the bar. Kinda bummed. But all in all, it was okay. Great little place! Especially with restaurant.com coupon. Clam chowda is as good as it gets. 1st time I've have clams that were NOT chewy....anywhere. Chicken parm excellent, as good as any 'Italian' restaurant & the lasagna....wow....about 7"x7" square & buried in awesome sauce, both served with warm fresh bread. The martini's are in very generous sized glasses & surely priced better than the 'fancy' establishments. Folks at the table next to us were equally thrilled!
