When we went, the service left a lot to be desired. A man with earbuds in was behind the counter and never looked up to acknowledge us. Another man looked and disappeared. A woman called us to the other end of the counter and took our order...finally. Our drinks were mediocre and overpriced - plus my husband's hot latte was served iced. It wasn't even busy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although it's a cavernous space, one man decided it was his office and was making a lot of sales calls, so we were treated to hearing that unless we moved to the back side of the business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Next time, we'll save a few bucks (and our sanity) and go to Starbucks across the street! I come here when visiting for work sometimes. And it always feels kind of 'sloppy' but this time I stood at the counter, where five employees were behind the counter, and the one who apparently was supposed to be working the register was standing playing on her phone so intently I had to get her attention twice before she looked up. He was so loud over the rest of the staff that customers around be were putting in their earphones to drown him out. I stopped by a few days ago while passing through downtown Greenville and had a great experience. I was greeted right away by Emme, a blonde barista who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. She had such a positive attitude and made me feel right at home. They offer vanilla and chocolate ice cream, and have a lot of mix-ins to add into the ice cream. I opted for the vanilla ice cream with the Oreo mix-in. While the base vanilla ice cream was from a creamery, I felt it didn't really have a rich creamy texture, and was fairly ordinary in taste. Overall, I felt it was an average ice cream experience, and felt I would have been better off going to an ice cream place that didn't mix in ingredients to alter the flavor. While I probably wouldn't return to Spill the Beans for the ice cream, I would stop by for their coffee drinks if in the area again. read more

I came to this place to get a cone of ice cream I'm the only one at the counter 2 young people working behind the counter. A boy and girl they looked at me and when a white man walked up the girl took his order. Then when I addressed the issue she said nothing but oh. I walked out then I went back in and asked the boy for a manager he said no manager is here I told him what has happened all he said was oh sorry and turned his back. We came here recently during a trip to Greenville and love the atmosphere. We walked around downtown and needed a caffeine boost. STB delivered! It's right beside the main park downtown and it's in a huge historic building. It was so hot outside but nice and cool in the dark brick and stone interior. The staff made sure I had a full water bottle too. We both got iced coffee and they were not too sweet. Just right! I went in originally to get a custom frozen yogurt but was shocked at what I witnessed. First of all, the woman making the ice cream/yogurt was wearing her glove on the handle that worked the machine, but no glove on the hand touching the cones. Although the small cake coke has a small wrapper, much of the cone is exposed, so she and the red-headed associate she handed the cone to were touching the cone. Not to mention he was also working the register and had no gloves on. Then came the waffle cone...... which had an even smaller wrapper on it. So, their hands were touching even more of the cone. Keep in mind she was wearing the glove on the hand that didn't actually handle the one and he was working the register and handling the food without any gloves. I then asked another associate if I could just buy some of the sugar free Irish cream coffee syrup. And he asked "For What Purpose"? What business of it was his? But I said for my coffee at the hotel. He said very passively, "well i guess I could figure out a price for it." My reply..."Or you could just give it to me," kind of joking. He said "I can't give anything away. It's like 57 cents a shot." I said never mind. I walked out and told my husband and he said "once you saw the glove situation you still asked for something?" I just figured there was no way the guy could get his DNA on a side of syrup. I wish I said I was an undercover health department agent. SO GROSS!!!!!! It's Food service - Terrible!!!!!!!!! I would urge anyone to go across the street to Starbucks. I know it's not supporting local, but they typically know food service hygiene. read more

We ordered a single vanilla to be mixed with chocolate chips, and it was fun to watch them, but the only place the chocolate chips ended up was at the very top of the ice cream, the rest was just all vanilla. Quaint coffee shop with LOTS of seating. If you are here before 3pm you'll find a space to sit, easily. If you come after 3pm expect MASSIVE lines and not as much seating. Great space to work in the mornings though. And prior to 3pm, parking isn't hard to find on main street outside. If you're a Mexican hot chocolate fan or chai tea latte fan, they have great baristas! The owners are here 85% of the time as well, so you know they put their heart and soul into the business. Music is quiet and pleasant, though if you're unlucky enough to be here when a family with kids shows up, the echoes and acoustics can make it very hard to concentrate. I like that they have basic food options (oatmeal, bagels, muffins) as well! Pretty much something for everyone. We got here around 12:15 on a Friday afternoon and there were a handful of people hanging out with their laptops and sipping coffee. The space is huge and the different brick/stone walls give it the coziest atmosphere. I had an iced dirty chai with oatmilk and it was absolutely delicious. I do enjoy a good spill the beans ice cream! In fact, that is part of the problem. The past four times I have planned to go to spill the beans it has been closed. Their hours say they should be open and everything online says they are open for business, but when I arrive there has been a different sign on the door stating they are closed that day or closed early. This place is sure busy! It's located right by the falls and in true fashion our family will support it over the Starbucks any day. When we walked in they were taking orders and proceeding to make drinks. No biggie. We are easy going. We thought maybe we would get a hi... smile... one moment... nothing. *cross posted on Google I really wanted to make this one of my go-to local coffee shops. But after 4 visits over 8 months, I'm disappointed with the primary product.. the coffee. Most of their brewed coffee is very weak. I have had their espresso and that is a little better. They do have an assortment of ice creams that I've tried in the past. They are good. But this review is on the coffee shop element. The pros: cool atmosphere with a great vibe. Sit inside on an assortment of couches or chairs and tables or sit outside on the patio and enjoy people watching at the corner of main street. But the coffee....eh. The tagline on their website should have given me a heads up. "We serve deliciously smooth coffee gourmet ice cream. Daily." Since I am local and visit all the coffee shops, I'm willing to give them another try, but it'll be a while. read more
