Monkey bread
Reyna R.

Cannot believe it took me so long to try out this place. Very cute shop, very family friendly. My favorite pastry was the salted caramel passionfruit thumbprint cookie. The monkey bread was moist in the middle and caramelized on the edges. The coffee and cream shortbread was too strong for my taste. My favorite drink was the strawberry matcha. I cannot wait to go back and try their loaves (banana and almond) and some more of their specialty matcha drinks.

Ok here's what's so...nice, quaint, cool lil spot.....food looks totally scrumptious. I had the oatmeal raisin white macadamia cookie. Coffee was good. Smooth. Not bitter as my SB( Not saying the name). Cool that they make everything literally right there. The reason I gave it such a low rating....it would at least be a 4 if not higher. However, you can't have a coffee house and no internet these days. Can you? Peo0le were phenomenal. But really, no internet? I guess next time I come, I will bring a book......check it out but that's a HUGE issue for me.

The 4 stars are for the pastries. They're really 5 stars. Every baked good I've had here has been amazing. Key Lime pie is incredible. Scones, cookies, quiche--all good. Breakfast sandwich I had once was barely edible, but don't really count that. The baked goods are amazing. But beware of ANY drink modifications. I ordered an Oat Milk horchata steamer. Which "starts" at $5. I needed caffeine but love horchata. "Can I make that a horchata latte?" "Sure. What size?" "Large." "It usually comes with 3 shots, and is oat milk still ok?" "Yep." The drink was $11.00. Eleven Dollars. So I got a scone and a drink. And the total for those 2 items with tax was $17.44. This place is regularly expensive anyway. But this was...extra. That's really a 2 star situation, that. But the baked goods are really top notch. So.

Cute small cafe/ coffee shop in the oak park neighborhood. I stopped in to grab a drink and check out the ambiance on an early morning Wednesday. I decided on a small oat milk horchata steamer. It was a Fall 2023 special. It's incredibly small for the size to the price of $3.75 but was insanely delicious. I believe the cafe could stand to put their prices on the boards regarding the food selections that way patrons are aware. My only only reason for four stars was the price of the drink versus the size. The prices are fairly high but the quality being served is amazing. I will return to check out their savory quiche options.

Clean, warm, welcoming. Beautiful mural on back wall painted by local artist. Nice open artisan bakery where you can watch the bakers in action through the front windows. Cookies, pies, croissants (two choices on the Sunday I visited: 1. Almond. 2. Ham and Gruyère.). Freezer with take and bake options. A few well chosen books, chocolates, etc available as well. Excellent espresso, long draw. The almond croissant was beyond phenomenal. Flaky, lots of slivered almonds, sprinkled with powdered sugar, just the right amount of almond paste. Again, phenomenal. I must confess, about six months ago I had a negative experience with poor service here. But now, it appears the service issues have been addressed and resolved. Five stars plus. Of note, opened at 8a, by 830 no more almond croissants available.

Service was exceptional. Light deserts and bakery items were good. Very cozy environment. Definitely worth checking out.

Delicious pastries. I especially enjoy the Mexican chocolate cookie and almond croissant. Coffee is mediocre but I had drip coffee rather than my typical espresso. Even so, drip coffee can be a litmus for custom coffees. The shop is beautiful with a little seating inside. There's more seating out front and a patio in back. Ambiance is lovely, as is the staff. Everything is pricey but delicious. Parking can be a little difficult but there is some paid parking across the road and a few hours free parking of you walk a few blocks.

Tart cherry pie- deliciously flaky crust

My friend used to live in Oak Park, and she gifted us this delicious sour cherry pie. The crust is flaky tastiness and held up to the tart cherries. Can hold its own among pies from Hoosier Mama, Bang Bang, and First Slice.

This is such a pastry shop, I wanted to buy things I did not need. It is nice to see everyone working while waiting on our goodies to be ready to go. Be prepared to be strong down some gorgeous looking pies, cookies, breads and more. Truly delicious food, nice quality and packaged perfectly for travel.

Cute and cozy sitting area.

Key lime pie = BONNNNNNKERS. They also make a nice iced chai not too sweet. It's a nice place to get some 'zerts after YUMZ at Maya Del Sol.

Boom, our family is in LoVe with the pies. Even our dog ended up finishing the leftovers :/ It is worth the money to have the experience.

spilt milk: definitely the place for artisanal sandwiches and some smooth coffee. If you are there check out the preserves.

Reviewing their "Courageous Cones" ice-cream: one of the most delicious soft-serve ice creams I…read morehave ever had. You pick a waffle cone (vanilla/chocolate), an ice cream flavour (vanilla/chocolate/non-dairy coconut) and a fruit (strawberry, blueberry, plantain etc.). They blend the actual fresh fruit with the ice cream to produce an incredibly delectable, flavourful soft-serve. I got a vanilla waffle cone with chocolate ice cream blended with strawberries. It took maybe three or four minutes to serve because all of the blends are freshly made, and I had to wait in line for about twenty minutes, but the wait was worth it. It was nice to take the ice-cream cone and sit on a bench at the park nearby. The shop/window is attached to Courageous Cafe, but the operating hours are not the same as the cafe's, and one has to wait in line outside rather than indoors. The shop is about five minutes from the Oak Park Green Line CTA station. Highly, highly recommend this place to those visiting Oak Park! I might even make a trip all the way from the city for this ice-cream - it was that good!

There's a certain point where a bakery stops being a bakery and becomes a gravitational force, and…read morethis place crossed that line the moment I tried the pastries. Everything I've had so far has been spot‑on -- flaky, buttery, and made by people who clearly understand that "good enough" is not an acceptable standard for laminated dough. And then there are the cupcakes. The pink velvet and vanilla bean have basically derailed any attempt at exploring the rest of the menu. They're that good -- tender crumb, real flavor, none of that cloying sugar‑bomb nonsense. They even offer gluten‑free and vegan versions of some, which somehow manage to taste like actual cupcakes instead of punishment for dietary restrictions. There is a full breakfast menu, and it looks legitimately appealing... but I keep getting ambushed by the pastry case before I make it that far. One day I'll branch out. Today is not that day. If you're in Oak Park and want a bakery where the classics are done right and the cupcakes are dangerously habit‑forming, this is the one.

I loved that they had a small outdoor patio to enjoy the weather and be connected with the busy downtown. Their menu had starters, pastas, pizzas, and entrees in a curated format. They serve wine and beer regularly but have a rotating specials menu for cocktails and food. Our server let us know that the bruschetta rotates weekly which is cool. For mains, I got the Ricotta Gnocchi. All of that pastas are clearly homemade. The gnocchi was certainly pillowy and paired nicely with the creamy truffle sauce. My husband got the Orecchiette pasta which could have had a more prominent sauce to it. Overall, the pasta was fresh and ingredients tasted of good quality. The portions for price point seemed a little off as dishes didn't come with a bread basket nor side salad. I wish we would have gotten either a bit more pasta or something else to make the price feel of value. Either way, this was a nice spot to enjoy good company at. Our server, Nina, could not have been nicer and more attentive to our group.
