Absolutely loved it here! I was already excited to try Spin but the white sauce completely surprised me!! A lot of places have a white sauce and then it's just Alfredo, and tastes like pasta not pizza.. but this Spin white sauce actually has its own flavor and it was phenomenal! I'm honestly so happy they offer it because it made it possible for me to enjoy some pizza, I can't have red sauce. So this felt like a really nice inclusive option that made me feel excited to get pizza here now! Definitely one of those spots where I will come back just to order the same thing again? It was so good that we actually went twice! We were in Lawrence for the KU Relays and needed to feed our team. They were so accommodating by getting our pizzas ready before they closed and leaving them in the warmer until we could get there. They food was delicious and the service was simply exceptional. We were in Lawrence for a business event and needed a good meal late in the evening. We were so lucky to have found Spin! Pizza as both my wife and I are truePizza aficionados and found their pies VERY impressive in a true Neapolitan style. Initially the sausage, pepperoni and ham toppings may appear scarce, however their pies are perfectly proportioned in a "thinner" crust true Neapolitan style. The crust and outer edge had a perfect char and the entire pie was "just right". Equally impressive was their Mediterranean salad, which was equally impressive as their pie. Upon first glance, the handy box that served the salad appeared to house a small portion of salad, we were very impressed regarding the total amount of salad. We were fortunate to have requested an extra "side" of dressing as we often prefer to have more dressing as is our personal preference. While waiting for our order ( as it was a carry out ) I became interested in their display case of many different Gelatos. After requesting a taste of the one that included a variation of the word "Lemonade", as it was bright yellow in appearance, I was very pleased with the modest sample that was provided- which prompted me to order a large serving to be added to my order. This was prepared and paid for separately- and upon my request this purchase was gladly stored within the display case to prevent melting while I was waiting for our pie to be completed. Upon taking the entire order of our pie and Gelato to our hotel room, we were treated to a truly wonderful Neapolitan pie, great salad and extremely nice Gelato. Great environment, not too busy on a weekday early evening. Staff are friendly and responsive. Meatballs are awesome and when hot, the cheese filling should be stringy. The hummus appetizer dish was poorly plated - use a smaller plate please. Cucumbers were frozen or had "fridge burn", and the olives were strewn about. I asked for a to go box for the hummus since the meatballs were sufficiently filling and I got what asked for... a pizza box. Really? To put the hummus, tomatoes, olives, bread and cucumber and feta? In my previous review update, I complained about confusion with the restaurant's frequent diner club following the change in ownership of Spin. In particular, I had difficulty getting my credits transferred from the previous system to the new one. But the new one is now working fine, so the problem is fixed. In addition, I am finding the new management to be very competent and helpful. So Spin now is better than ever! read more

Straight up, I love SPIN! Pizza. I don't know if I truly appreciated it until I scoured the food scene high and low and realized it's so hard to find a well-priced, consistent place that also offers amazing salads. In fact I could just order salads here and be alright, but throw in some tasty "Mini Mia" sized personal pizzas and I'm all in. The Lawrence location is out west in an area I don't go as often as I used to, but is convenient for those in the Free State HS neighborhoods. It's as easy-going and quick as the other locations that I go to. My personal rec is to get a Mini-Mia combo with literally any of the salads (Spinach, 8-Color and BLT jump out) and then for pizza I like the sausage and apple pizza. It has a fancier name than that, but c'mon it's early in the morning man, I can't think of that. Gelato here is also bomb, and you can get a small that won't make you feel like you're overdoing it. My husband and I came in here last week to get a bite to eat. I had the "Mini" with sausage and apple on a cauliflower crust and a "Sanoma" salad on the side. My husband enjoyed a "Mini" with sausage and caramelized onions on regular crust. The pizzas were done perfectly and tasted great. The salad was amazing and the "Mini" meal was the perfect amount. They were very accommodating when it came to having my meal gluten free. Then came the Gelato...WOW!!!! So many flavors to choose from. We sampled six different flavors and had a hard time choosing just one. The staff was really friendly, especially the GM, Hannah. She took some time to come and visit and was very knowledgeable about the pizza place and the town of Lawrence. She made our experience complete. We definitely will go back there on our next visit to Lawrence!! read more

Nice assortment of options - carnivore husband & Grandson loved various meat choices for pizza. I was pleased that they tried and enjoyed the eggplant appetizer too! I thoroughly enjoyed my mini duo garlic spinach pizza & Greek salad. Spin offers different crust options, to include hand tossed, gluten free, and cauliflower crust. I paid $18 for a 10" Gluten after pizza with 1 topping, extra cheese and this is what I received. It's horrible pizza, certainly not worth the price. Half of the pizza was hard and ends were burnt. Barely any cheese even after paying for extra, because they have skimped on cheese before. I also requested extra sauce on the size and didn't receive. This has happened same exact situation before, but I decided I would try them again and will not purchase pizza from them again, very disappointing. They have amazing Gelato, which we purchase often and still will, the atmosphere is great, and staff is nice and helpful, but the pizza is not good at all unfortunately. read more

Spin, you won our hearts over last night, and then some. In January we attended a Yelp Elite event here and had talked about returning for months but just never made it. Of interest, even though we are not vegans or vegetarians, we were so impressed by the vegan pizza we tasted we had to verify. Was it possible it was really that good? But first, a hitch in our meal, and all my fault. Walked in and assumed there was only one type of vegan pizza so ordered along with a couple of red vinos and a nice salad and was assigned a cheese pizza. We were after the Primavera, so when our order came out and the server saw the look of confusion when I asked if this was our order, she checked. A manager came by and we had a discussion about what we thought we'd ordered. I explained we'd attended an Elite event here several months ago and had wanted to retry the pizza from that experience. What happened next was pretty unbelievable. "I was working that night, we served the gluten free, vegetarian Primavera" she said. I remember you both because you arrived an hour later than everyone else, right?!," she said with a smile on her face. Bingo. Yes, we DID arrive an hour late because we had our start time screwed up (apparently something we only do an Spin, screw up things). She proceeds to give us the cheese pizza on the house and has a Primavera delivered to the table. Yea, it was as good as we remembered, but this is service beyond what is reasonable to be expected and then some. Whoever that lady is, Spin corporate, she's worth a million bucks and then some. Someone needs to point out the importance of customer service. I just did, and now it's Spin's turn. We will be back, forever fans of the people working there and the most excellent foods they serve. read more

I just had my first meal here and the experience was great! Service: very good. I came in for an early-bird dinner (4.30pm) so there weren't many other patrons fighting for attention, but I got a lot of personalized service. The gal at the register was very helpful; I didn't see a name tag but she had long red hair. She explained the menu options without my having to ask, and was friendly. Joey was my server and he was attentive. I really liked that they swipe your credit card at the counter but then give you the receipt to fill out AFTER you've finished your meal so you can actually feel good about tipping based on service offered and not feel that pressure to tip before you've received service. Food: I ordered the Pizza Mia- a 6 inch pizza and half salad combo (caesar salad without croutons and a Spinach and Pine Nut pizza on gluten free crust). Both were delicious. The salad was perfectly dressed in my opinion- it was probably pre-made but the dressing was more oily and light rather than creamy so the lettuce wasn't total mush. The pizza was delicious! The gfree crust was perfect- crispy on the outside and bottom, but slightly chewy too. Gluten free crust is difficult to get right- you typically either get a hard cardboard cracker or weird tasting mush. Theirs was great! Price- the total for my meal with a drink and including a 20% tip was $18 and worth it. I'll definitely come back when I make my way out to West Lawrence again. read more

Honestly... it does not get any better than SPIN! I love pizza and SPIN! is one of the best. The restaurant in Lawrence is very cozy and comfortable. I love the lighting and the ambiance. It is intimate without being dull. There is a huge variety of items on the menu and SPIN! does its best to provide healthy choices. They have yummy appetizers, comfort-food soup, fresh salads, hearty sandwiches and a wide variety of pizzas on their menu. The pizzas here are, uh, different. They are not your typical slop-on-some-sauce type pizzas. I do not like how some people think pizzas should be swimming in sauce. You won't find that here. You will find carefully concocted sauces and just-right amounts. They have everything from reds, whites to olive oils. Their combination of spices and spins make their pizzas exquisite. I love the 8 Color soup because it is chock full of beans and colors and veggies in a delicious sauce. Also love their white hummus and other appetizers. The margherita pizza is another favorite of mine. SPIN! also has a wide variety of gelatos to top off your meal. It is the perfect touch to end a great meal. Not to heavy and not to sweet. The staff at the Lawrence location is top notch and very attentive to their diners needs. They are friendly without getting in your way and they know the right moment to approach your table. The prices are just right, too, for their food. Honestly, they could charge a great deal more and still do well. I enjoy the moderate price of their delicious food. The Turkish coffee gelato was some of the best I've ever had and paired very well with the taihitian vanilla. We will probably come back just for that and skip the rest. Without the delicious gelato, this would be two stars from me. The flatbread sampler was the best part, food wise. The bread was perfectly warm and well seasoned. I wasn't a huge fan of the ricotta but I think that's more of a me issue. If I come again for food, I would just order this as my meal. Salads were good, fresh, etc. nothing too creative but maybe that's just because of the ones we ordered. The grilled cheese was kind of meh-- it was greatly improved by the soup but the soup by itself was also meh. Not really sure how to rate those. I wouldn't pay for them again, if that says anything. Everything came out in sort of a weird order. We got the sampler last (which would realistically be an appetizer) and my fancy grilled cheese first. Soup came out a long time after everything else but it was supposed to go with the sandwich so by the time it came sandwich was cold. Not super worried about it but just struck me as odd. The service was also lackluster. The woman at the register seemed uncomfortable and our waiter was attentive enough but never kind. There was one woman walking around who was super nice, unfortunately I didn't get her name. For the price, this food should taste better, in my opinion. Headed home from Topeka and we stopped in for some dinner. I love Spin but this has to be my favorite location so far. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. I felt like I was at a full service restaurant and if you are a Spin regular you know the drill; order at the counter, sit down and they bring it to you and check on you once or twice. Not here, we had full beers always and plenty of napkins then a box ready for us without asking. I would have to say the pizza here is better than other locations, it didn't sit at all so it was crispy and piping hot. This is just our go to place for a family with different needs, we all walk away happy. read more

This was my first trip to Spin and we ordered takeout for five people. We all decided on the Mini Mia which included a small lunch size pizza and a small side salad. You got to choose any pizza and salad from the menu for $9.75 which was a good value. I got the #17 white pizza with prosciutto, spinach, and fig marmalade with the Sonoma salad. The salad was really tasty with lots of fruit, goat cheese, and a sweet vinaigrette. The pizza was an average Neapolitan style pizza. It had large slices of prosciutto that covered each slice making it hard to eat without the toppings falling off. The spinach and cheese mixture was good but i didn't taste much of the fig marmalade which was disappointing. I would probably come back and try some other flavors if I'm craving gourmet fast casual pizza but there is just so many competing options. read more

This pizza place is right next door and you get amazing pizzas Ambience is super lively. Great place to watch games and hang out. Price is slightly expensive. 12-13$ for a 12" thin crust pizza. Service was great. We got red sauce based pizza with olives, capers, onions and artichokes. It was super delicious. When a friend suggest SPIN for dinner the other night, I jumped at the chance to check out this new addition to the Lawrence dining scene. First of all, its location is on the pad of the Walmart. I guess it is what it is, but no matter how cute the outdoor patio will be in the summer, you are still going to be sitting on the pad of a shopping center. Oh well. Know before you go that this place doesn't have full table service. It's more like fast food where you order at the counter, get a number and then they run your food out to you. This isn't my favorite way to eat. The odd thing is if you pay with a credit card, you don't get the total at the register. They basically leave your card open so if you want another drink, or dessert, they can just add it to your card without running it again. I left a tip but I'm not sure who will actually get it (maybe they pool the tips) as there were several people running food to our table (there were a few misses that had to be corrected) The good news is if you want pizza, they have many options from gluten free to whole grain and the pizza is cooked in a stone fired oven so it comes to the table all bubbly and hot. Those at our table who ordered pizza did better than I did with an entree salad (yes, I know- why go to a pizza place and then order salad??) I had the large Greek salad and asked them to add a double order of chicken to it. This salad was pretty disappointing as the chicken was more like lunch meat chicken versus a grilled breast or something more expected on a salad. And I ordered the dressing on the side and it came on the salad so I had to have them remake it which was a bit of a hassle. But I guess that's my fault for ordering a salad. The good news? They do have a few offerings of wine that they sell by the glass or the bottle so that makes everything better! I'll probably stop back in to order a pizza and some of their tasty gelato. A great restaurant with fantastic management and ownership. Pizza cooked perfectly everytime with a variety of crusts! Try the cauliflower crust fantastic! My favorite is the Mini Mia a salad or soup with a personal size pizza. All of the salad dressings are really great. My favorite soup is the tomato basil. They also have a selection of gelato and sorbet. Try them all, they give free samples. I would recommend signing up for their rewards program you get rewards quickly. Make this one of your go to pizza places. The only thing that could make it better is having signature cocktails. read more
