Meh. ridiculously expensive for mediocre food. -oyster mushrooms were terrible. They were burnt and that's the only flavor I could taste, they also had a rubber texture and I couldn't cut them with my bread knife. I can't believe it was $18 for 4 strips of a mushroom. - zucchini blossoms were weirdly breaded with breadcrumbs and the ricotta wasn't smooth and whipped with herbs like most are. It needed a sauce as it was a tad dry and didn't have much flavor -lamb pappardelle was ok I guess, it was swimming in sauce and the lamb was cut into pea size, it wasn't bad per say but wasn't great, and definitely not worth the price which was kinda the theme of this meal. -the squid ink pasta with branzino was the worst dish. Who puts seafood with marinara sauce?? It was also swimming in this crappy acidic sauce that just didn't go with the fish. Needless to say there were only 3 tiny like pieces of fish in the dish which made it an absolute rip off for the price. We decided the dishes we had weren't good enough to keep ordering more and so we skipped dessert. They also charged us for bread which is absurd considering it's an Italian restaurant and dinner should come with bread. The bread was also burnt to a crisp like couldn't eat it burnt. Absolutely hands down NOT worth the absurd prices. $150 for 4 dishes and NO drinks, just tap water. I'm still mad about it. read more

I wanted to love this place as it came highly recommended by a friend. I also read the reviews comparing it to other LA Italian restaurants. I was EXCITED and maybe that's why I was so disappointed. My basic pasta with a red sauce was too salty and this is saying something, because I'm a chip-aholic! (Yes, there is such a thing. Definition - someone who loves salty things). I could barely eat half. My husband had their duck in a red wine reduction and this was too sweet. It reminded us of having turkey smothered in cranberry sauce. My son had the bone marrow risotto, which was disappointingly just risotto (rice fyi) with 2 beef bones plopped in the middle. It was small and meh. Beet salad, garbage ($22), no taste, so sad, maybe beets from can and then a couple beets that were thrown in that weren't ripe?? Our pasta plated on a soup of olive oil. Any cheese/meat listed in the description is minimal, especially cheese, like you need a jewellers eye to see it for real. Service was mmm.. meal dropped and no check in for 15 minutes. Also, the 1st 3 things we tried to order, they were 86'd, but we weren't told when the server first came to table after we had been looking at the menu for a bit. And, then, even when we re-evaluated the menu, one of the items was also unavailable. Hard times are just hitting, because of screaming carrot, but this is not because of that. I cannot recommend this place enough. The entire experience top to bottom was amazing. Went here recently with a friend, it's a smaller restaurant, but very intimate. The whole kitchen is in view so you get to watch the pasta masters at work while you wait. The server was super friendly (I wish I could remember his name so I could shout him out here!) and recommended an amazing bottle of Pino Grigio. We split the Cacio e pepe and the branzino, and oh my god. This might be the best Italian spot in the area. Definitely will be returning soon. There are no reservations so it's first come first serve, but I promise it's worth it (there are a few cute bars in the area to hang out if the wait is too long). Ordered a $45 pasta, asked for no truffle. I asked the waitress if thats ok and she asked the kitchen and came back and said yes. I even shared if asking for no truffle is an issue ill order a different item, no big deal. They brought out the dish with truffle. I told the runner, he made a face like are you sure you did that? The waitress acknowledged the mistake and said she'd send another one. No problem, mistakes happen, no big deal. The second dish comes out and it's raw. Literally raw pasta. They probably rushed it but now I've had two pastas brought out to me, one incorrect and one raw. At this point I didn't want to say anything and just wanted the experience to be over. At the end of the service the waitress asked if I wanted to box up my left overs. I told her "No, if I'm honest the pasta is raw." She said nothing, charged us the 45 bucks for the terrible pasta and we went on our way. Terrible experience. The overall ambiance of the inside is extremely chaotic. It's far too cramped inside, the waitress and runners keep running into each other, every time food is taken to another table I thought they were going to drop it on someone. One waitress was borderline sprinting through the small space and her coworkers kept giving her dirty looks. Fun for people watching the chaos, not fun when you drop 120 bucks for raw pasta. This was my third time dining at the restaurant, and unfortunately, it will be my last. My first experience, right after they opened, was easily five stars, with fantastic service and unbelievably great food. I've gone back twice now to share it with others. However, I have been embarrassed both times. My second and third experiences, from start to finish, consisted of bland appetizers that I would expect from Fred 62 (no disrespect to Fred 62, as you're not being unexpectedly disappointed there). The overly loud music drowned any attempt at conversation between guests, in what could be a cozy atmosphere. Putting all of that aside, the main courses were the final disappointment as they didn't live up to their names in terms of flavor and were rather bland themselves. I had high hopes for this restaurant to become a favorite, but after my third visit with poor service, constant attempts to upcharge for water, forgetting to serve dishes that were still included on the bill, and disappointing entrees that originally were fantastic on my original visit has settled for me that this won't be the case. read more

The staff is so friendly, the woman who runs it is very hospitable and will chat with various patrons to make sure everything is perfect. As much as how saddened I am that Blossom has closed, I am just as happy that Spina has opened. Wow! Everything that we had was so good. From the pastas to the fried calamari to the Branzino to the steak, everything was executed perfectly. All of the staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Even though it was pretty busy, we were seated within 15 minutes and the staff was extremely attentive. The food was impeccable, simple and delicious. Although my boyfriend thought the salmon was overcooked, I preferred it done well. What stood out most about the food was the flavors. We ordered dishes with punchy profiles, yet we were impressed by the subtlety (in a good way!). As appetizers, we ordered the garlic bread and brussel sprouts. Both were delicious. I'm not usually a huge fan of balsamic, but it combined well with the salty pancetta (at least I think it was pancetta), and the sprouts themselves had a perfect charred crisp. As for the pasta, we ordered the spinach & ricotta ravioli, and the sausage & truffle pasta. Honestly, these were risky orders, but they both paid off. Truffle is so hit or miss and usually just makes me think of Trader Joe's potato chips, but its use in this dish wasn't overpowering at all. We both preferred the ravioli, which was rich and cheesy. However, the sauce was rather thin and even a bit on the watery side--and the pasta itself is what brought the rating down, as neither dish had that chewy bite of truly fresh pasta. Also, the price and wait time brought the rating down. Considering we both walked away thinking "good but just OK," the price was hard to justify, as well as the wait which was around 90 minutes. They do come out and give you a fried risotto ball if you wait around the entrance, which was a kind touch! read more
