Totally mid. Server was friendly, but food takes a very long time to arrive. Their bread is not made from scratch, nor is it fresh, and it SUCKS; it tastes like toasted Wonder bread. The lettuce in their salads is also not fresh. Portions are tiny, everything is WAY overpriced. Have to admit my entree tasted good though. Fettuccine Alfredo had good flavor, and the grilled chicken on top was perfectly cooked and not dry. For a better Italian dining experience at a comparable price, go to MASA in Echo Park. I got the stuffed ravioli with beef with the Pesto Cremoso (my personal favorite sauce in general) and my friend got the ravioli stuffed with mozzerella and a pomodoro sauce. The pesto sauce was so creamy and wonderful, the pasta is very fresh and cooked to perfect, not too al dente for my taste. The pomodoro sauce was bright and tangy. The bread thats included is wonderful for sopping up the excess sauce. Get the pansu if they have it in stock! Fresh made pasta!!! This restaurant is a hidden gem! You wouldn't realize how great this place is from observing as you driving by. Inside is a nostalgic take on Italy, deli counters with fresh desserts and chalk menus on the wall. The food assortment leaves you asking for a recommendation as there's so much to choose from. I chose the seafood dish with fresh calamari, clams, shrimp and a simple broth with squid ink noodles that was the best i've ever had. My wife had the lasagna, made with bolognogese and she prefers a different style but she enjoyed the freshly made pasta with her lasagna. We started with a salad, and we asked for the evening candle lights to be brought out early to light up our ambiance as we were in the neighborhood before a concert at the greek. Came after seeing a show at the Pantages. This place is nestled in a small shopping center but the inside is very cozy. We were seated almost immediately and the service was superb. Oscar was our waiter and he was very patient with us and the translation issues we were having( our first time at an actual italian place! ). The stars aligned for our dinner at La Pergoletta! We immediately found parking in the small plaza which then had us arriving 15 minutes early to our reservation. We were the first to be seated in the Deli area at a nice corner table. The food -- EXCELLENT (as always). The husband was quite adventurous by trying new items. He had the Tagliata Classica with Filet Mignon and Fettuccine for his main, then chose the Troio for dessert. I went here for the first time with my girlfriend for our one year anniversary and was greeted very nicely by the hostess and was served by Jesus who was nothing short of amazing. My girlfriend and I initially chose to sit in the lower section on the inside portion of the restaurant as the ambiance was very welcoming. It felt upscale but still kept a nice "homey" vibe. Little did we know, until we sat down, that it wasn't personally right for us at the time. My girlfriend is pretty sensitive sensory wise, so I kindly asked Jesus, before we received our food, if we could move to the outside section (which was also just as nice and kept the same vibe), and everyone was very understanding and accommodating. The food was also nothing short of amazing. Very flavor packed, good portion sizes, and decent prices, especially given the experience. Pasta was cooked perfectly and hit the spot just as I needed it to. On top of that, they gave us a complimentary 1 year anniversary tiramisu, and as a fellow tiramisu fanatic, I was very impressed! Our waitress was very open and knowledgeable about the menu/making changes and extra charges (informally a group still only gets one bread bowl for free so we had to order extra so we could all have some). I can't believe how bad this place was. I've never been led astray so far by reviews. First of all, you walk into this place and it smells like urine. I should have left immediately but we sat in the other room where the funk wasn't so putrid. We had hungry kids so we wanted to fire in some orders quickly but the server was just MIA while there were very few people in the restaurant. Finally we get the order in and the best of the items were below average. The meatballs definitely came out of a frozen bag. The risotto was in a soup of average tomato sauce. The steak was overcooked. The minestrone was boiled vegetables in water broth. But at least they were consistently bad across the board. I think our server was too busy working on his fake Italian accent to actually check on us, bring the bread, clear the appetizer dishes or check on beverages. I was really hoping this was an old school Italian place that I could bring my family. Now I'm just glad I can cross it off the list. read more

Very sincerely, I have hesitated to write a review for years only because I fear that everyone will find out about this place. La Pergoletta in Los Feliz is without question one of my all time favorite restaurants anywhere. My wife and I call it our Lady and the Tramp place because it always feels like falling in love when we eat here. Very relaxed in feel and temperament with a dash of old world kitsch, a can't miss menu and a truly wonderful staff that treats everyone like family, Sweet Lorraine and I have been eating here for years and hope to continue for many years to come. Affordable, casual and comfortable with outstanding food that you'd pay a premium price for anywhere else. Some of my favorite items are the incredibly delicious and tender Polpette Filanti appetizer (their meatballs, small or large are the greatest anywhere!), Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan (when they have it... bellissimo!!), Tagliata alla Crema di Funghi (I like it with Fettuccine, they make all their delicious pasta in house), a great Caesar salad with Anchovies (if you so desire), Carbonara that really is to die for... and if you're really, really lucky, the moon's in the sky like a big pizza pie and the stars are aligned, their Osso Bucco is the best I've ever had!! We made reservations through Yelp and we ended up being earlier than planned and the hostess went out of her way to seat us, although they were super busy. I've been here for their dinner service, but recently came for their lunch special and was very pleased with my experience. I came right around 2pm on a weekday and it was such a peaceful time to dine. Their lunch menu is perfect and it comes with your pasta of choice, a soup or salad, and a soda for $21. I opted for the rigatoni etrusca which is basically like a creamy bolognese (yes it's as good as it sounds). If you like to chat, this is the perfect spot to go because you don't feel rushed lol, but if you're in a time crunch the servers can be a bit hard to track down. I came here for an work dinner in the evening - this is definitely a really great place for a team work dinner! We split the garlic bread and the bruschetta bread and they evenly served all 5-6 members of the table. They even gave us extra complimentary, and that was so kind of them! I originally ordered some kind of pasta with steak, but I ended up changing it to the salad version of the pasta - I DEVOURED IT! The steak was cooked beautifully medium rare (just how I like it) and the vegetables in the salad tasted very very fresh. Each bite had a perfect crunch. I really want to come here and try every dish! There was street parking in the neighborhood for free in case you can't find any in the parking lot.
