    The Shroom

Very good experience. The service was great, as was the food. Several of us got smash burgers. I find that smash burgers tend to be on the dryer side, since they are thinner. These patties were anything but. They are very juicy and flavorful. We opted for the Parmesan fried upgrade and that added an extra kick of flavor. I got to try the Island Shrimp and they were zesty and cooked perfect, no overdone and chewy shrimp. The party was very pleased. Next on the agenda to try are the mozzarella fritters!

My boyfriend and I decided to go get burgers here one evening before seeing a movie at the Pointe theater. It was our first time trying them. When you first enter from the side with the parking spots, you see the bar immediately first on the left. If you walk down the hallway on the right you get to the regular seating area. There are tons of seats both inside and tables outside along with what looks like a firepit. We decided to sit inside for our meal. The restaurant looks like it has several specials throughout the week, including one night of the plain burger being on special, but we decided to try the southerwestern burger and the shroom burger one with fries and one with brussel sprouts. Both of them were tasty, but with our total being $38 for two burgers and one sweet tea, they were not phenomenal for that cost. The brussels were super tasty- definitely recommend. Maybe we'll try another special or go just for drinks, but that's alot for burgers.

Great lunch spot! Has a separate dining , bar and outdoor area. There were so many different options on the menu to choose from, I went with the Patty Melt and it was huge and super filling. My husband got the wings and said they were good! We had great service and they have $5 mimosas can't go wrong!

My friend saw a photo of a Reuben sandwich on facebook the other day, tagged me and we decided to try the place. The sandwich looked really good, which was piled high with meat. My friend and I went today and told the waitress we wanted to split the sandwich since it looked so big. Not so. While it was tasty (the French fries were great), it didn't stand up to the photo. The amount of meat was on the skimpy side. Back to the drawing board to find a good Reuben. We had very good service by our waitress.

I started following Spindle's on Instagram when I heard they were opening. Every post showed great pics of food and drinks so I'd been meaning to go. On this particular Monday, I saw a post for their burger night and a chance to get one free and I won! So now I had to go! It's in a nice location in Barclay and was a clean spacious place with a nice outdoor patio. The hostess was super friendly and so was our waitress. I got a choice of 6 different burgers and went with the Southwestern. It was an average burger but I really liked the fries. My husband got the trash can nachos which were good but the queso was watery and the pork needed more seasoning. They have a large menu and a lot of happy hour deals and specials so I'd check them out again.

This new restaurant is right across the Pointe 14 theatre. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Free Wi-Fi and the password is posted in the restaurant. The food was good, nothing spectacular. We tried the grilled salmon, Baja fish (mahi mahi) taco platter, and fish & chips. The salmon had basic seasoning but was cooked perfectly. I liked the asparagus that came with it, tender, tasted like it had fresh thyme seasoning. I didn't care for the "smashed" potatoes. It was like chunky mashed potatoes flavored with heavy cream or half and half. My partner really enjoyed his fish & chips, thought the fish was fried well and liked the Cajun sauce (mustard based). The fries were thin cut, crispy, and arrived hot. My sister in law liked that the taco platter presentation was good, tacos were in taco stands, but there wasn't much flavor in the guacamole and cabbage slaw. My partner rated the bloody mary 3/5. Our waitress Miranda gave options of different vodka. Miranda was nice, polite. Didn't see a dessert menu. All of the tables were full as it got closer to 6pm. But then again this was on a Tuesday, which is discount movie day. This place could be a good place to grab a bite to eat before or after watching a movie at the movie theater.

Great food at reasonable prices! Lots to choose from and it all looks good I went with a friend at lunchtime on a Saturday. Our server was really friendly, but she kept disappearing, so we had to flag down other servers to get her for us twice. There is a patio outside for warmer weather. I brought my husband back for lunch on a Tuesday, but they don't open until 3:30, so check the hours of operation before you drive over there. Absolutely recommend this place and am looking forward to going back!

We were seated promptly and our server was extremely friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very similar to when it was Tavern 17 (sports bar restaurant). We started with mozzarella balls and they were good. I did like that you had plenty of marinara and I think there was 8 of them (easy to share). For my entree I went with surf and turf. It was okay. Nothing special really (could have used some steak sauce for sure - I don't always use steak sauce only when flavor is needed). My son had chicken parm and said it was good. His portion was huge. My husband had the wagu meatloaf and liked it. He said he'd like to try something new next time. The table behind us had trash can nachos and they looked and smelled amazing! Wish we ordered that! They also ordered birthday shot flights which looked super fun!

16 Bone-In Buffalo Wings, 1 pulled pork taco, and 1 bangin' chicken taco.

Had been trying to visit this restaurant since we heard about and saw signs they were doing 25 cent wings for the month of December. The first time tried, the house was packed and it was going to be a long wait. The second time we tried, they were closed. But luck finally shined on a friend and I after we finished watching a matinee movie at The Pointe and saw they would be opening soon (holiday hours) We walked in, we're greeted and promptly seated. Haleigh took our drink order and returned promptly. She did a good job of checking in on us throughout the meal. We already knew what we had come for so that part was easy, but we also noticed that they have regular daily specials as well, so we decided to add a couple of tacos. Boneless wings had a 1lb minimum Bone-in had an 8 wing minimum. Not a problem for my friend and I. He ordered 16 bone-in buffalo wings. I ordered the pound of boneless tossed in teriyaki. We both asked for extra ranch (because duh!) which was 50cent extra per ranch. He added a pulled pork taco and a bangin' chicken taco. I ordered a bangin' shrimp taco and a Chicken BLT taco. All the food came out pretty quickly and at the same time. The wings are not breaded, which honestly I was fine with. They were flash fried. I found this to actually be helpful as I was not filling my stomach with breader. It was all chicken. The wings and sauces were good. The ranch was good (very important) The tacos were fine. I felt they could have been simplified. All the tacos came with guacamole and pico de gallo, which honestly could have been left off some of them. Pub/bar tacos aren't going to be authentic, so why not lean into enhancing their individual flavors. The chicken BLT would be good to just have lettuce, cheese and a smoky sweet bbq sauce. The bangin' shrimp would benefit from being tossed in the sauce rather than having a drizzle over it, and then add more of an Asian slaw. The chicken and beef would be fine to keep to the traditional Latin flavors, but maybe offer a side of sour cream and/or salsa for dipping. The pulled pork could have benefitted from a smoky sweet bbq sauce as well OR to give it a Carolina flair, maybe a vinegar based sauce. These are by no means deal breakers, as the tacos were only $2 - just offering possible improvements that could elevate the tacos. Overall, a good experience and already looking forward to coming back to try some of the other items on the menu. (Which I so appreciate a simple, 1-page , front and back menu) Give them a try!

    House Margarita
    Wanda M.

Hey moviegoers, we now have another option for lunch at the Pointe! They are now open everyday at 11:00! Had ate lunch elsewhere, but had some extra time before the movie started, so we grabbed a couple of drinks at the bar! House margaritas were on special $5 as well as My husband's favorite, Tropical lightening! Bartender was super friendly and provided great service! On the chalkboard they showed a lot of nightly specials, Monday-Burger night, Taco Tuesday, Wine Wednesday and Hibachi entrees on Thursday! Also they were having 50c wings, 8 minimum for happy hour from 3:30-6:00! Not sure if that is everyday? So we decided to stop back in after the movies to try the wings, Buffalo and Thai Chili, both were great! Will definitely stop in again!

We had been dying to try this place it is just on the other side of town which isn't the most convenient. However, we made a trip to celebrate a few birthdays and it was totally worth it. Food was great. Service was a little slow considering they weren't busy. But we would totally come back!

What a fantastic evening at Dram Yard…read more We were a little concerned we might miss our 5:30 reservation after getting delayed by a seven-car accident on the bridge, but we arrived just a couple of minutes late and it wasn't an issue at all. From the moment we arrived, the experience was relaxed, welcoming, and exactly what we needed. We chose to sit in the beautiful courtyard, and with temperatures in the 70s, sunshine overhead, and a gentle breeze, it couldn't have been a more perfect setting. The outdoor gazebo bar creates a wonderful atmosphere for enjoying a cocktail before dinner, and if the weather isn't cooperating, the indoor dining space is equally inviting. A special thank you to Sarah, whose service was outstanding. She was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. The restaurant wasn't crowded, which made for a peaceful and unhurried dining experience. For drinks, I ordered the Ghost Town, while my wife enjoyed the Venus Flytrap. Both were beautifully prepared and easy to see why they're among the restaurant's popular cocktails. The food was equally impressive. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara, and it was exceptional. The kitchen even accommodated my request for extra freshly cracked black pepper, which took an already excellent dish to another level. My wife ordered the Little Gem Salad with shrimp, and it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We also shared the Tuna Tartare Tostada, which was outstanding--beautiful presentation, fresh tuna, and a great balance of textures and flavors. Adding to the experience was a bottle of Albariño that paired wonderfully with the meal. What stands out most about Dram Yard is its atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can settle in, slow down, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail, and forget about the stresses of the day. Whether you're looking for a date night, an evening with friends, or simply a quiet place to relax, Dram Yard delivers. Excellent service, creative cocktails, outstanding food, and one of the most relaxing outdoor dining spaces in Wilmington. We'll definitely be back.

This was the 3rd time we've been here. The first two times we did not make it to the table because…read moreof the service. They generally do not care about the customer at all. The star of the show is definitely the food. The chef is super proud of his food, and he should be. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 on food instead of a 5 is because there was no iced tea (in the summer in the carolinas - not really forgivable) the water was nasty and the biscuits on my Benedict were towards the burnt side on the bottom. Honestly, everything otherwise was amazing. What was really great: The restaurant itself is AMAZING! It's like being transported to a Parisian cafe. I love that when you walk in, you immediately see the fully in view kitchen. I'm assuming a chef owns the restaurant and designed the layout. The patio is quaint and delightful and surprisingly private for a downtown sidewalk restaurant. The eggs on my Eggs Benedict could not have been more perfect. I'm not a fried potato person; however, the pan fried potatoes here are mostly whole and they are out of this world. They were exceedingly crispy on the outside and completely soft on the inside. My son ordered the dutch baby. It was delicious. The accompanied fruit was perfect and truly ripe. I feel like they would have to toss a lot of fruit to get the ones that were truly that perfect. What did not work: The water - it was about 85 degrees out and humid. There is nothing here refreshing. Water is served European style meaning no ice and out of the tap. Warm tap water on a hot day in South Carolina is just nasty. It's ironic that while Europeans visiting the US for the World Cup are posting social media reels raving about ice in drinks in the United States, meanwhile The Dram Yard is insisting on pulling all of the worst parts of eating out in Europe into their restaurant. I truly dislike restaurants that serve canned and bottled beverages. It screams, "nickel and dime". If you bought your cans of soda at Costco and charged $4.00 for a can, I'd have to drink 9 cans before you're losing money. There is literally no reason to limit beverages other than driving higher profits. I hate price gouging. At the very least get a fountain and serve iced tea. SERVICE - the service staff simply makes you feel like they're doing you a favor by being open. Don't expect anything after that. When we arrived, the restaurant was at about 25% capacity with 2 food servers, who also double as the hostess. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated (yes...even at 25% capacity), service truly went downhill from there. It wasn't that the staff was rude. They were just not present and extremely slow. It honestly seemed like they were doing everything they could to not be seen. We needed salt, a refill of the water carafe and our check. That was it. The staff would come to our part of the dining room but then not even glance around or come by to see if we needed anything. I'm giving them a 2 because they were exceedingly slow and not present. When we did chase them down, I felt rude asking for help. The chef delivered our food. He was very proud and should be. However, here's the rub. The chef needs to learn that being in the restaurant business is not only about creating great food. It also requires front of house service and an overall dining experience that people are happy with. Right now, I'm walking away feeling: 1. great food and great atmosphere 2. terrible service 3. nickle and dimed me on drinks 4. doesn't have the sense to serve iced tea in the Caronlinas So - as much as I loved the food - there are too many restaurants in Wilmington that are good enough to overcome 2, 3 and 4 above. The Dram could be fixed so easily: 1. hire servers who want to be there and smile a little 2. put ice in your water 3. serve iced tea - at least in the summer months 4. get a soda fountain - it's 2026 Unfortunately, we won't be back because there are simply other options that, at the very least, hit 1, 2 and 3 with good food.

The Food We went straight for what matters. * Chilean Sea Bass -- cooked right, flaky, moist, and seasoned without trying to show off. That's how it's supposed to be done. No nonsense, just good fish handled properly. * Fish Bites (house specialty) -- lightly battered, crispy without being greasy, and paired with both Thai chili and tartar sauces. That combo works. You don't fix what isn't broken, and thankfully they didn't. * Ponzu Tuna Tacos -- these were the standout. Fresh, flavorful, balanced. The ponzu brings just enough bite without overpowering the tuna. If you're going there and skip these, that's on you. Sides held their own--fresh vegetables with a good sauté, and coleslaw that didn't taste like it came out of a tub somewhere in the back. Service Our server, Kali (K-A-L-I), did things the old-school way--attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake. That's getting rare these days, and it's worth mentioning. Value Two people, solid seafood, no corners cut: $67.15 total. In today's world? That's not just fair--that's impressive. Final Take New ownership can sometimes mean a place loses its identity. That didn't happen here. Fish Bites still delivers what made it a favorite--fresh seafood, straightforward preparation, and consistency.
