Spinelli's Pizza downtown is right near 4th Street Live, making it a super convenient spot, especially late at night. They're well known for their huge pizza slices, and growing up in Louisville, I've been here plenty of times. This visit, though, felt a little different from what I remember. The place itself still has a unique vibe. It's clean, has its own personality, and even features a walk-in freezer you can check out along with a bar, which makes the experience stand out from your typical pizza spot. We ordered the Korean chicken pizza and the buffalo pizza. Overall, the pizza was good. The Korean chicken tasted exactly like you'd expect sweet and savory and the buffalo had that classic buffalo flavor. They did add some spicy chips on top of the buffalo slice, which I personally didn't like, but it didn't completely take away from the pizza. The slices are very thin, which is their style, but I do feel like it could be a little more filling for the price. Speaking of price, it was definitely more expensive than I remember. I don't recall ever paying over $10 for a slice before, but that could just be inflation catching up. It was late when we went and the place was busy, which might explain it, but the staff wasn't as friendly as I've experienced in the past. The overall vibe kind of leaned more toward a late night, drunk pizza spot, which was a bit disappointing compared to how I remembered it. Overall, I'd give this location a 3 out of 5. I ordered a Salad, Mozzarella Sticks and a Medium Mushroom pizza. I like the sauce and the crust. Its looks burnt on bottom but over all was good. Eclectic looking location and giant slices are the two main takeaways from my visit to Spinelli's. There is actually a 60s era Lincoln Continental that has been converted into a booth as you walk in. Second dining room contains some larger tables for big groups. They are apparently open until 5 AM. As for the pizza, giant slices, lots of flop but after that pretty average. I would give it a 6.2. Definitely fast and friendly service when I stopped in to grab a slice. read more

My brother brought me to this pizza spot. This is his second time coming here. He found this gem last year when he came on a business trip. Tried the downtown location based on a recommendation while traveling to Louisville. While I did rate it 3 stars, in fairness it was based on the sandwich, not a pizza. They were quick with the order and it is a nice establishment, but the Cheesesteak was light on the cheese and onions. Flavor was fine, just nothing to go out of your way for if a sandwich is what you are looking for. Right on a corner on 4th Street. We had the Chicken and Waffles pizza and the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza. The chicken and waffles was just the right mix of sweet and savory! Not overly sweet. With a light drizzle of syrup it hit that late night craving of something salty and sweet. The chicken bacon ranch pizza was great! Their thin crust is flaky and flavorful and the chicken bacon and ranch complemented the entire palate! If you're looking for late night options for a pizza craving this is it! Also get the Fried Oreos which are heaven sent! Nothing fancy, no frills, just great pizza. We did the slices which were literally about 3 'normal' slices per piece. First off, this was a 1:30AM drop in! But, the staff was friendly and interacted well. The place is simple, a bunch of tables, counter and display. Nothing special. Now the pizza. The flavor and size of the slices were great but wow big time flop factor. lol. But again to be fair I should go during the day and order a whole pie and judge from there. Visited March 19, 2025 I was in town for a conference pretty late, around 9 pm, and needed food nearby. Spinellis was right across the street from my Airbnb so I thought I would give them a try. My first impression when I walked in was that the place looked pretty cool. The decor was amazing and there was plenty of seating. However, I couldn't smell any aroma of pizza and the slices they had in the case looked 2 days old. Because of that, I decided to get a personal pizza so that it could be made fresh. I kept it simple and just got a 12" pepperoni pizza. It took about 10 minutes for the pizza to be ready. I took the pizza back to the Airbnb to enjoy. The pizza was just okay. The ingredients were fresh and the cheese-to-sauce ratio was great, but the dough was so bland. I have a lot of pizza in my life, but this one just didn't taste like a cohesive slice. read more

Great spot for a slice! It's definitely got a more polished vibe than your typical pizza by the slice shop, they've got rizz as the kids say. They have a bunch of fun shirts for sale with plays on bands, etc. The inside is really pretty with bougainvillea (artificial) throughout and it flows to the outside of the building, it was a really nice touch! Absolute worst service of any place I have experienced in the last few years. Ordered a pizza last week from our hotel (about 3 blocks away from location) and over two hours later we had still not received order. Called once to check during that time frame and was told that the local musical festival had them over run with customers. At the two hour mark, we began trying to call to cancel the order (by this time 2am) and either a no one would answer phone or they would pick up and say they were not accepting calls and hang up before you could speak. Finally after 3-1/2 hours from initial order, we were able to reach someone and cancel. But lo and behold, days later the charge appeared on our account. Therefore, we are now having to dispute a charge and battle to get a refund for an order we never received and an experience that was absolutely terrible. read more

Awesome pizza! Visiting from Chicago area and I fell in love with this pizza too. Yes, try it. There are other item there, but I just had pizza. Whichever was awesome. Did I say that already? The staff was minimal as we came.between lunch and dinner. Bu they were wonderful. One of them gave me a good heads up on cheaper gas outside of Lousville. It paid off well. They also sell t-shirts with their logo/brand/pizza related there as well at a very nice price. Highly recommend this place. I'll be stopping again whenever we're back in town. read more

I put an order in for delivery, the pizza was over 30 min late. No heads up. The tracking numbers link did not work, not to mention when I asked to get a refund they said to go leave a message online. So cold pizza with the topping incorrect and cheese bread for over 30$. My slice was super oily-literally dripping in oil- and so thin it was translucent as I could see on the other side of the crust. Not worth the price point. They don't offer tap water either. For that price point, the drink should be included in the price. Taste was a 3/10 and after finishing my slice I was still hungry.
