Derby city pizza is a chain of pizzerias that are in the Lousiville area and surrounding cities. I've noticed most of the locations are former neighborhood pizza chains that they still pay homage to. This particular location off of greenwood road is the former "prp pizza" or pleasure ridge park pizza. Me and my family enjoy the derby city pizzas quite a bit. They are a tasty and easy bite. There pizzas are the thinnest of crust so it's easy to consume a lot of slices but they do pack good flavor. We usually go with an extra large cheese and sometimes get a pepperoni or bbq chicken (my oldest dish here favorite) pizza. My wife is a big fan of there lasagna. Said there sauces and cheese on it is great. They are heavy on the sausage but they are pre made so they can't help that. This location compared to other ones is very similar. I'd say they have more TVs then the other locations but it is filled with that areas local High school teams decor and some university of Lousiville and Kentucky decor as well. Service we received on our trip to Thai location was pretty solid. Was a Friday night with a Lousiville game on so decent crowd But the waitress kept our drinks full and got our food to us in a reasonable time. Overall we enjoy the derby city chains. Pizza and food is the same but I enjoy visiting different locations and seeing the support they do for nearby high schools and to see the vibe. Some of them definetly have a big neighborhood pizza vibe which is good as it stays true to there origins.

I been here before when it was PRP Pizza, and once Larry Davis (Owner) opened more stores, it became Derby City pizza, I want to say this is the first location but I'm not 100%. There are many more around the city but, this is one of them that has been around a long time. This one is located on Greenwood Rd. Parking is spacious depending on the time of day you get here. For me it was unusually busy after 2:30 when I got here. They do have the best Happy Hour specials of any place I've been to. It's $1.75 for long necks and $1.50 for drafts Mon-Thurs. 2pm-6pm. Fridays is $9 buckets 3pm-6pm. Can't find those prices anywhere else. Cheesy bread not the stix are $5 and so are the wings. When I asked about the Cheesy bread during Happy Hour, the bartender/waitress said she has never rang it up like that during happy hour however, I mentioned it was advertised at Valley Station location so I thought all locations were in sync when it came to that. Luckily it was rang up for $5. I ordered one of their happy hour draft beers and a water to start off with. I told the bartender/waitress I needed a minute. Of course I wish I hadn't said that beings customers came in, got busy and it was several minutes before she came back. I ordered the $5 cheesy bread as mentioned earlier and a small Pepperoni Pizza. There were only what seemed to be 2 people working the front, waiting tables and working behind the bar. It was a good 45 minutes before I got my food. I'm not complaining but, I will say I feel bad for the ladies working up front and idk how many cooks were in the back but, I saw one coming out of the kitchen a few times. This store out of all the ones I been to seem to have the least staff of them all. I don't fault them but, they did work hard and kept it together. While waiting for my food, a DoorDash driver came in and I heard bits and pieces but I heard one of the ladies telling him that the order had been picked up, he cursed under his breath where I could hear him and left frustrated. I'd be mad too but, save the swearing for when you leave. So my tip is if you use DoorDash, don't use it here, there seems to be a communication problem there. After the wait, I got my Cheesy bread first, a few minutes later my pizza came out. I asked about the Xooker scan for the Cinnamon stix and they knew what I was talking about but, didn't know where it was because it wasn't used enough according to them, I told them it would be for another visit not this one . I was told they would look for it and I said not to worry about it since the place was busy. It was eventually found (Yay). So now I have free cinnamon stix for next visit. My reason for 3 stars. Location. Depending on the time of day it may be tricky to get in and out. I went after school let out and it was tricky to get in and out. Next up interior. The interior does look good after the remodeling but, it's still dark in there and I guess a black ceiling will do that. I feel it's a bit dark for a family restaurant. Now the staff I give 5 stars to. They were total rockstars with little staff and a busy restaurant. I will be back for the Cinnamon stix.

I love their individual pizzas. It's just enough. We ordered pepperoni pan pizza and a hamburger, bacon and green peppers individual pizza. It's not to expensive. The pepperoni was a little over $5. The hamburger pizza I created. Was a little over $6. Each additional topping was $.49. I thought that was a great price. I asked for my pizza to be ready at 12:30. It was ready as soon as I pulled up but I could tell that it had been ready for a while. It was warm when I got home and I don't live that far. Maybe they cooked it so early because they were not that busy. I would've liked for my food to have been hotter. We also got the cinnamon sticks. I honestly would not order them again. They were not what I expected, but they may have been better if they were hotter. The icing was weird on it. I would probably order it on the side next time to dip instead of it being drizzled on top. I've been before and I do plan to go again. I really like their food. I just think it was just cooked too early this time.

I performed a search for keto friendly and Derby City popped up. I was surprised to see that the have a crustless pizza option and decided to give it a try. To be honest, I was a little skeptical at first. But it was really quite satisfying. Think cheese and any topping, minus the bread. Since there is no crust, you have to eat this with a fork. Bon a petit.

We ventured out to try a new pizza place Saturday night. Derby City Pizza in PRP was close by while we were out & about. They have a decent sized parking lot outside. There was a sign posted to seat yourself. So we decided to sit in a booth. After looking over the menu we ordered a loaf of cheesy bread & a large pizza with sausage & pepperoni. Two loafs of cheesy bread came out with a side of marinara. It was toasted on the outside, soft on the inside & loaded with cheese. The pizza unfortunately didn't really do it for me. It honestly reminded me of a frozen pizza. I do enjoy thin crust pizza but this crust was just blah. Our waitress was friendly but was MIA for quite a while we waited for our check & a box. The inside was clean with plenty of seating. There are several TVs all around the inside making it great for watching sports. Overall our experience was fine but nothing really stands out making me want to go back.

What a fantastic lunch Derby City Pizza had to offer! After hearing such good things from a family member, my mother and I decided to come in for lunch, and were soon very happy that we did. Our server was attentive without being pesky, making sure our drinks were full and that we were enjoying our very well-cooked meal. One of the items the menu boasted was their own home cooked lasagna, which I'd hoped would match the photo on the menu. Imagine my surprise when it certainly did, but also lived up to its delicious presentation. Every bite better than the last, the meat was hearty, with a great blend of cheese and a seasoned sauce. My mother opted for the smothered steak sandwich, which was adequate and filling for her. The only thing I took a point off for was the parking lot, which wasn't filthy but did feature some visible garbage that might not have taken long to remedy. Aside from that, Derby City Pizza was a tremendous choice, and one we'll soon be making again!

We all drank water, soda or tea and they kept our glasses filled. We ordered the pork chop dinner that came with risotto and vegetables. My husband loved the veggies and risotto but was not thrilled with the chop. He wishes he would have asked for a steak knife as it was difficult to cut with the butter knife provided. It was tender enough but neither of us cared for the flavor. I had the Primavera. It was a bit bland. I had to salt it several times. Our favorite part of the meal was dessert. We had a piece of lemoncello cake that was flavorful, creamy and light. We both thought it was great. We had about $20 left on our gift card and were disappointed we couldn't use the balance as the tip. So we ordered two more desserts to bring home to use the balance of the gift card. We brought homemade a piece of Italian cream cake that was as good or better than the lemoncello cake and it was a huge piece of cake. We also have a piece of caramel sea salt cheesecake which was pretty good. It was loud in the small space and a bit difficult to have a conversation across the table. The background music did not help with this issue. The staff were friendly and helpful boxing up our leftovers. Tables have white cloth tablecloths and the owner was making rounds to greet all the patrons which was nice. We discovered there is parking in the back of the restaurant, as so many of the spaces in the area have signs indicating you will be towed if you park there. We had to park on the street about a block down.

I ordered the shrimp and grits, and without exaggeration, they were the best I've ever had. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the balance of textures throughout the dish was incredible. Every bite had the perfect amount of crunch, flavor, and toppings. Nothing felt overwhelming or out of place. It was one of those meals where you find yourself slowing down just to enjoy every bite. Even the water deserves a mention. It was clean, crisp, and refreshing. If it came straight from the tap, I would have never known. It's a small detail, but it speaks to the overall dining experience when even something as simple as water stands out. The service was great, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It's easy to see why this restaurant has built such a strong reputation. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to accessibility. As a person with a disability, parking can make or break a dining experience. Unfortunately, there was no handicap parking available, and there were no nearby parking spots open when I arrived. I ultimately had to park in a hotel lot about a block away, which cost $25 for just two hours. Not only was the cost frustrating, but the additional distance was challenging given my mobility needs. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth trying, but I do hope accessibility becomes part of the conversation for future guests. For those without mobility concerns, this may not be an issue, but for disabled patrons, it's something important to consider before visiting.

Tucked away on Frankfort Avenue, it's a little off the beaten path, and parking can be an adventure. There's a small lot by the restaurant with overflow parking further down the hill. Somehow we managed to snag the only open space right outside the front door, which felt like winning a very specific Louisville lottery. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and the place was already buzzing. It was packed with locals, which is usually a good sign. While our table was being bussed, three different employees checked to make sure we were being helped. We let them know we were just a little early and waiting on our table, but it spoke volumes about the attentiveness of the staff. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a neighbourhood pizza spot: relaxed, lively, and unpretentious. The soundtrack quietly floating through the speakers was a crate-digger's delight, full of songs that have been sampled throughout hip-hop history. Hearing Lynn Collins' Think (About It) while waiting for dinner felt particularly apt following the recent passing of Rob Base. The song's iconic break became the foundation of It Takes Two, one of hip-hop's most recognisable records, and it was a nice reminder of how deeply great music connects generations. To start, we ordered the Olives & Togarashi, a bowl of Castelvetrano olives coated in a wonderfully aromatic blend of spices with notes of fennel, sesame and citrus. My son tried his first olive and was genuinely shocked by the flavour. He'll come around eventually. For the main event, we ordered three large pizzas: the DOP Margherita, the Funghi and the Original Sting. The DOP Margherita showcases imported buffalo mozzarella from Campania alongside basil and San Marzano tomatoes. The Funghi is loaded with an incredible blend of mushrooms, taleggio, pecorino cream and mozzarella. The Original Sting combines soppressata, fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato and spicy local honey in a sweet-and-savoury combination that completely works. Now, let's talk about the crust. It is perfect. Pillowy and light, yet substantial enough to give you that satisfying chew. The wood-fired oven creates just the right amount of charred bubbling around the edges. Our server offered house-made ranch and other dipping sauces for the crust, but we politely declined. This pizza doesn't need any enhancers. The balance of flavours across all three pies was exceptional. I've eaten pizza all over the world, and Pizza Lupo belongs in that conversation. It really is that good. We had a plan: sample all three pizzas and leave just enough room to split the tiramisu. Thankfully, we stuck to it. The tiramisu was fresh, light and beautifully balanced. Not overly sweet, nicely moist, with just enough espresso flavour coming through. It was the perfect finish to an outstanding meal. The service was fast without feeling rushed, friendly without feeling scripted, and genuine throughout the evening. We left full, not bloated, and happy as spring lambs, already talking about what we'd order next time. We'll defo be back. Cheers, Sam

It was fluffy with a crunchy exterior, perfect for dipping into the sauce of our entrees. They have lots of pasta options, including a build your own pasta with a choose of noodles, sauce and meat. I was torn between the piccata or Marsala, but wanted something fresh and bright - the piccata did not disappoint. the chicken was moist, the capers were huge and the sauce was bright and tart. I would definitely order it again. I've already made reservations to go back in December!

If you're looking for a place that makes you feel like you've accidentally stumbled into an Italian…read morenonna's kitchen--minus the guilt of sneaking extra lasagna--di Fabio Casapela is your spot. From the moment we walked in, the service was so warm and genuine. Now, let's talk about the food because holy cannoli--it was chef's kiss worthy. We started with escargot, which was excellent. Then came the caprese pasta with grilled shrimp. Imagine tomatoes, basil, mozzarella, and shrimp having a delicious little party on your plate. The lasagna and manicotti, bathed in pink sauce so rich and creamy, made me question my life choices up to that point. Of course, this Italian feast needed wine worthy of the gods--Chianti, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc all played their parts beautifully, like the perfect musical trio backing an epic food opera. If you want authentic flavors, a staff that treats you like family, and the kind of meal that makes you want to book a one-way ticket to Italy (or at least come back here next weekend), di Fabio Casapela is your new happy place. Mangia, mangia!
