I have picked up a pie for dinner, picked up a few late night slices, and now I have stopped for a slice and salad for lunch. Maybe just don't go for lunch because that was disappointing. The slice I got was clearly a pepperoni slice that they tossed my toppings on top of and warmed. All the toppings were loose and just fell off. The crust was dry and crispy-- it wouldn't fold, it just broke in pieces. And the salad is just not worth the money. read more

Solid pizza, easy going vibes, and with late night hours! Personally, I love to snag some of their grab and go items when I'm in a rush for lunch--they have some solid salads that make things nice and easy. I also really enjoyed their chicken parm--which surprised me! It wasn't a huge, saucy, overload-of-cheese vibe, which is what I come to expect. Rather, it was a nicely-fried medium to small-sized cutlet, with a yummy red sauce and a modest amount of cheese. But it was well balanced and good quality, especially for the price. It's become one of my go-to items to order! The service is helpful, but chill, which I personally appreciate when I'm just trying to be in and out. read more

Slice shops hold a special place in my heart, especially the ones that go a bit above and beyond, like Pizza Donisi. For starters, I missed the whole menu. I thought it was just a mandatory sign on the wall. Once I saw it, I realized this wasn't the average shop! Slice of the month? Now that's rad. Naturally I had to order one and I wasn't disappointed either. Braised pork, Asian fusion bbq sauce, kimchi, mozz, and green onion, all on some east coast style crust? Sign me up! This was the perfect pie to end my night, and it paired pretty well with the Manhattan at a nearby bar too. The menu said they also made their own sausage, so naturally I had to get one of those slices. Good too! Overall I wish the slices had been reheated a bit more to give the crust a bit more crisp, but these ate like the perfect late night floppy slice to me. In general, slices never hit a home run for me, but these certainly had all the hallmarks of some of my favorites. I def recommend checking them out. read more

First time ordering a personal pizza (10inch) ... it was barely bigger than my hand and was over $15. It was equivalently to 1 & 1/2 of their slices. By the slice is really the only way to get pizza from here and not feel like you're getting ripped off. Vegan pizza alert! I've had my share of good, nay, great pizza in my life (I can perhaps eat pizza every day) and Pizza Donisi is really damn great. I imagine it can only get better as the night goes on (and you've been drinking next door at Mag). This is what you're craving, a vegan pizza deluxe with pepperoni, sausage, peppers, mushrooms and onions. I loved it and I hadn't even been drinking! It's a tiny place, no indoor seating (head next door to get beer or a cheap drink-- they even have booths), but two picnic tables outside if you're nowhere near home or you just can't wait to get home. They have a bunch of vegan options, three sizes and it was served piping hot, cheese all melty which isn't always a thing with vegan pizza. read more

OMG I cannot be more stoked! I have not only found a spot to get a gluten-free pizza, but ALSO with dairy-free cheese. For years I have missed being able to just pick up a pizza to go, being gluten-free and dairy-free, I typically make my own pizza at home. I have found my PIZZA GO-TO in Old Louisville! What I love even more is that it is a small business, with the coolest staff ever! The staff was super informative, patient, and overall had an infectious positive energy! They explained to me that the only gluten-free pizza size they offer is a 10" size. Their meatless meatballs are homemade, as well as gluten-free and vegan. They have numerous vegan meatless pizza toppings as well as vegan cheese. They make most items homemade and cut their vegetables freshly daily. They offer outdoor seating with a couple tables where you can sit and eat, the inside is small and has two stools where you can sit and wait on your order. Cute little spot next to Mag Bar. There are two tables outside to sit at, but no place to sit inside & eat. There are a couple of stools instead to sit on while you wait for your pizza. We had the Sting Like a Bee. Wishing it had been a little more spicy. We also grabbed two single slices of pepperoni and one of sausage. The pepperoni was delicious! While we were waiting in line we chatted with some other customers who happened to be frequents there. They said the Buffalo wings are amazing. read more

My first time here, wanted to have a quick lunch and Pizza was on my palate. I got to the store, it was small, two seating outside, friendly staff. They have a chef monthly special of pizza, if you are daring enough. I had pizza by the slice, sausage and cheese. Let me tell you it was fantastic. I don't like thin slice pizza as I love pizza crust, but I was pleasantly surprised with this as I could overlook the thin slice and enjoy the pizza. It was hot and not too dry as thin slices then to be, and the sauce was very very good. Love the sauce the best, just thick and fresh tasting. Definitely eat here again and try some more different toppings. I also had the Knots which was also very very good, very friendly staff, which helped me make my choice and recommended different options to me. All in all a very good bargain, and one which I will return to as it close to my work and I can order by phone and drive by and collect it right out the oven. Just perfect. Meh. Just okay -- I only ever order the cheese pizza / mozz sticks from here & they're just okay. If it's late, everything is closed & you don't mind paying $20 for a basic pizza, order here. It's right next to my house so it's convenient on a late night... BUT Papa John's $7.99 thin crust cheese pizza is 10x better if that tells you anything. Donisi's crust / breading has 0 flavor or oil which makes the food pretty bland. read more

I always wanted to try this pizza joint, as I live downtown and pass by it a lot. I ordered it for dinner tonight and was actually pleasantly surprised ! I can't speak for the interior because I doordashed it. The pizza dough was thin and it had a nice texture. The sauce had a nice flavor. My favorite part of the pizza I ordered was the bacon. It had whole slices of thick bacon on it. I've never had it that way in pizza and it really stood out to me. I also ordered the deep fried ravioli and those were packing with lots of flavor as well. Everything was really satisfying. I am a small person, but I ate the entire small pizza. With the thin crust it is lighter. I'd definitely recommend and I will definitely order again. I've had Pizza Donisi several times and the pizza is always great. I have no complaints about their pizza. They stay open super late which is a plus. My only complaint is the 3 cheese wontons. I tried them on my past visit and they were so strange. The wonton itself was nice and crispy; it was the inside that wasn't good. The cheese wasn't completely melted and there was a spice or something in it that gave it a gross taste. Their special wontons might be better, but I do not recommend getting the 3 cheese wontons. read more

A good pizza place on Louisville, KY. Ordered after a concert for some late night snacking in the hotel room. We got a large with pepperoni, sausage, and onions. Sauce was good, typical red sauce, with lots of Oregano. Decent amount of pepperoni and sausage, cheese. The 3 stars were for the crust, a thin crust, but just average. No taste, almost like a cracker, very bland. Rest of the pizza was good enough, but a better crust would've gotten the review to 4 stars. read more

They refuse to serve you 90% of the time I've visited past midnight. I understand it is late but if your posted hours are for a certain time, I don't think it is unreasonable to order 45 minutes before close. The workers are not friendly and this is not a "one time" experience. I've visited many times and this is a reoccurring issue. The pizza is a little pricey but is generally enjoyable. Got a slice while waiting to get an MRI downtown. I'm from the easy coast, and this by FAR is the best pizza ive had out here. Legacy Pizza in New Albany is a close second, but this was thin, crispy, NY style, and tasted fantastic on a walk in the sun. 10/10 will try again. read more

First time here, and on National Pizza Day. I wanted to try this place for quite some time after passing it on quite a few nights out. It is conveniently located next to Mag Bar in Old Louisville so..... there is the street parking and depending on how busy it is, you may park close or not. Small cramped space is the best way to describe this place. Only one table to dine in on. It is a great late night spot to eat at before going out to party or after partying, they are open pretty late. The place was kinda busy when I went in, the guy that took my order didn't come off as a people person, he wasn't rude or anything more like a can we get this going kind of thing. Now on to the food, I got a 10 inch 1 topping pizza, I thought it was absolutely delicious. I do anticipate on returning. Everyone that ordered behind me was getting the 3 cheese wontons and I'm curious to try those. read more

I would like to preface this review with the fact that I am Old Louisville and it's small business community's number one fan. Even if a small business is not great I'm the first one to give the benefit of the doubt. But this place is an exception. The pizza is decent I will give them that. The service however is despicable. The few times they actually answer the phone they either leave you on hold for a literal hour, or they hang up on you all together. And when you call back to get back on hold they have the worst attitude. The average employee looks and sounds like they hate their life, (First of all get in line), but they definitely make it your problem. I have never experienced such unprovoked rude interactions with a business. This might be the only time I would recommend a Karen type you run up in there and cause a customer service scene. And this isn't just a one off. I have been going back to support them on and off for the past two years, hoping the next time would be better, because everyone has their bad days, but to no avail. They are constantly unreasonably rude, and treat you like your bothering them when you order. It's silly. I truly don't know how they stay in business. If I ever met the owner, I would suggest better training, paying these people better and/or take their ordering process completely digital even for those ordering at the store. Because the customer service element is less than nonexistent it's the opposite of service. Like I said the pizza is fine, some of the employees are fine. But the overall vibe is whack as hell and the customer experience is an amalgamation of unprovoked rudeness, lack of compassion and stupidity. It's truly a shame. It is pretty a-ok, y'all! Pizza is always great. But it took a while for Pizza Donisi to make itself known to me. Located immediately next door to Mag Bar (a place I avoid like the plague because I don't want to contract a plague...), they both offer delivery AND are open late. That you can buy by the slice makes it a triple threat of goodness! They have daily chef specials and several specialty pizzas. They do not have dine-in space. The yelp page *currently* says that they don't have a delivery minimum...but that isn't true. I don't know what it is, but when I called and asked one time, they asked ME what I was planning to order and told me that I "was good." I have only ordered delivery from Old Louisville Brewery, and I thought it took them an unexpectedly long time to deliver, considering that they are only about 4 blocks away from each other...but you know, then there is the convenience of them bringing the food to you... What it comes down to: - The pizza is tasty. - The specialty pizzas are interesting. - You can get single slices. - You can eat late. I dig it. read more

Small hole in the wall ny style pizza place. Only two small tables inside and two small ones outside. So not an idea place to dine in. No public restrooms and no fountain drinks (cans or 2 liters only) Experienced what I would call bad customer service. I am a utility worker and was here on my lunch break. My hands were Filthy and I asked worker if they had a restroom or sink I could use to wash my hands. Now when I asked this I could visibly see a sink area away from food that would of worked great. The worker said "no, you may want to go the bar next store". The pizza itself was just decent. Nothing special. Honestly if I had to compare to anything it was extremely similar to the type of ny style pizza you get from a food vendor at a fair or carnival. No real substance or flavor. I had high hopes for this place and they failed to deliver. I noticed "the bar next door" served food so next time I have a lunch break in the area I'll probably go there. There's a definite cool factor to Pizza Donisi, one of Old Louisville's most iconic businesses. Adjacent to and operated by the Magbar folks, this is a walk-up stop with pizza by the slice and a robust carryout menu, which includes one of the larger lineups of pizza toppings in the area. The prices really aren't bad for a local joint and it's a Groupon staple, so your buck can go a long way here. To be blunt, the pies are inconsistent, although I won't necessarily call this a hit-or-miss pizzeria. That implies that you could end up with a Spinelli's-level dud here, and thankfully, that's not the case. You're almost assuredly going to walk away with an average/decent pie at the very least. Crucially, the toppings are downright distinguished here and still shine even when the pizza itself is overcooked or under-sauced. And at its best? Pizza Donisi, when firing on all cylinders, can compete with any pizzeria in the city. Go for the triple threat of capicola, gouda and artichokes; you won't regret it. I've had the fried ravioli and wings here as well. They were pretty nondescript and I've stuck to the pizza in subsequent visits, although I've always heard the cannolis rock and intend to try them at some point. The customer service gets polarized reviews here but for what it's worth, I'm the complete opposite of the Magbar Mold and have always had pleasant experiences nonetheless. Donisi deserves a roll of the dice. It occupies a nice niche within Louisville's pizza scene thanks to its topping variety, distinctly East Coast crust and solid value. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my pizza from Pizza Donisi last night. I wish I would have taken a photo, because it was truly a beautiful creation. I asked for a lil extra sauce, cause I like it saucy, and it had the PERFECT amount. Also, the sauce is amazing. I could tell that my food was crafted with care. When I went inside and told the person at the counter my name, they said that they had just taken it out of the oven. It was ready in the exact time they said it would be. I always pop the box open and look at it when I pick up, and I said "wow that looks incredible" and the individual said "thanks, I made it myself" and I said "great job and thank you for caring" and they smiled. Pizza Donisi is a hole in the wall pizza that stands out among the best if not the best, most delicious pizza in town (cheese and meat lovers) Located on a tiny local road, next to a hipster/dive local bar, open for late hours, still doesn't fail to astonish with a 10/10 consistency of the pizza taste (both dough and marinara). Reasonably priced pizza, large slices size (or decent), with limited to no space to dine in. BUT, they work together with Mag bar, next door where you can actually place your order at Donisi and they'll bring to you to the bar, they even carry Donisi menus at the bar. I had also tried their wings, which tasted 4/5 and the one star fell because the size of these wings are so tiny and they wouldn't make their sauce spicier than the hot buffalo despite request simply because it is not hot enough for my taste buds. Ed the cook or owner or manager is amazing man and would answer any questions you have, the staff are always friendly and great. I once came 30 minutes before closing and wanted to slices of cheese, they still made a new pie. How courteous isn't it? Parking never been an issue. Bon Appetite ! read more

There are two reasons for my one star review. The first is that, having placed my order an hour and a half before getting the food, I found out that it had just been left at the hotel front desk. The delivery person had my contact information. The front desk manager suggested that he contact me, to which I was told, he was met with a shrug and the guy left. The manager didn't contact me because there was no information on the order. So the food sat, according to the hotel front desk, for forty minutes. The second reason was that, although I ordered a small chef salad, wings and a bottle of Sprite, for which the total, (with a wholly undeserved 20% tip) was over thirty two dollars, it was HIGHLY overpriced. The wings alone, which were eight dollars and forty cents, were comprised of five very small wings. I will never order from this place again and, if you don't want to be ripped off for a small amount of cold food, I would strongly encourage you to follow suit. read more

Placed a delivery order and got a 10" Pepperoni Pizza and it arrived a bit cold so I had to reheat it. The sauce on the pizza was too tomato based for me personally as it tasted like a cheap pizza, there's definitely better in the area but this place was open late. I also got the chicken wings which had a nice BBQ sauce flavor, kind of a sweet and spicy vibe but it's too bad it doesn't come with dressing or veggies. The canned soda was probably the cheapest I've found from a food order but the cans were dirty so I had to wash them off first. Donisi has been my favorite pizza spot since I permanently moved to Lou in 2014. Usually very delicious, decent service, good ingredients. Knocking down a star because the quality seems to have gone down a bit in the way the pizzas I've been getting are made. Tomatoes cut excessively large so they don't cook in the oven, like an inch of just or almost all sauce by the crust. If less cheese needs to be used that's fine its hard to get ingredients and such, but at the very least having it evenly distributed would be nice. I'm guessing there was a change in staff or something else that could've contributed to the quality decline recently. Back to positives though the cheese bread is my favorite in town. Their wings are almost always awesome and cooked perfect. The pizza even though different still tastes good enough. Thanks to Donisi staff for sticking with us through the pandemic! read more
