Quality/Quantity - Princess Cruise, in my opinion, is a medium priced carrier. We have been lucky with some good values this year, 2023. We have logged a hundred days at sea just this year with just this brand. But you would already know that if you are following. Food is good, you can have even better food if you are willing to pay extra. Ports are good, for the most part. See all reviews for the best ports and the just okay ports. Entertainment is just okay; we feel their competitors do a better job. Even some of their parent and "sister" companies do a better job. Activities have been good with the exception of one ship. But it was not the ship or rather it was the culture of the "captain" probably cutting costs? This one ship gave out point tickets rather than actual prizes. We participate in most everything, otherwise we can get very bored. And the more sea days we have, the longer the cruise can feel. But you know you are getting older when you actually start enjoying sea days, LOL. Atmosphere - Depends where you travel to, see all my previous Yelps. We take exceptionally long cruises, so typically very few kids are on board. Service - Our experience is that longer cruises have better service and smaller ships have better service. Due to our status, we were invited to the Captain's Happy Hour (discounted drinks if you do not have the package) daily. And also, to the Captain's Party (with free drinks). Price - Again, a medium priced brand. It also depends on where you go, if you have been before ($$ shore excursions), etc. And most importantly, how much you drink and if you have the drink package or NOT. The Highlight -- Leo the Tour Guide The best part of the entire day was our driver and guide, Leo. He was kind, informative, and thoughtful from start to finish. You could tell he genuinely cared about the guests and took pride in sharing the history and making the ride enjoyable. He truly set the tone in a positive way, and he deserves recognition for that. The Biggest Issue -- Time (or lack of it) The main problem with this tour is simple: everything felt rushed. We arrived at Pearl Harbor National Memorial around 8:25 AM and immediately started moving. By 8:27, we were already trying to quickly go through the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park. We barely had time to walk the submarine itself and didn't have any time to explore the museum building before needing to head across the complex for our 9:15 AM call time for the USS Arizona Memorial. Even though we were on time, we were initially placed on standby. After realizing we might miss our 10:40 AM bus return, we had to speak up just to get onto the correct launch. Because of that, we missed the 20-minute documentary that plays before visiting the memorial--which is a pretty important part of the experience. The memorial itself was meaningful, but the visit is only about 15 minutes, which felt surprisingly short given the significance. Ford Island & Missouri -- Not Enough Time Next, we headed to Ford Island, where we had lunch and visited the aviation hangars. These exhibits were good, but again, time was limited. Guided tours weren't clearly explained, and it felt like if you joined one, you'd miss seeing other areas entirely. The biggest disappointment for me was the USS Missouri. This was the main attraction I had been looking forward to my entire life. I could have easily spent half a day exploring the ship--but instead, we were rushed through it. I didn't get to fully experience the areas I wanted, missed out on exhibits, and didn't even have time to properly explore or enjoy the ship at my own pace. On top of that: We weren't informed ahead of time that the front turrets were under restoration It started pouring rain toward the end of our visit, and we got soaked The rushed schedule meant we didn't even have time to browse shops or grab anything onboard It turned what should have been the highlight of the day into the biggest letdown. Suggested Improvement One major area for improvement: transportation logistics. There were multiple hotel drop-offs at the end of the day, which took about 1 hour and 40 minutes before we even reached our stop. When you factor in pickup time as well, that's easily 2.5-3 hours of the day spent just driving. If the company reduced the number of stops to 2-3 max, they could significantly cut down travel time and give guests more time at the actual sites, which is what everyone is really there for. Final Thoughts This tour has potential, and Leo was outstanding--but the overall structure made the experience feel rushed and, at times, stressful. If you: Want to take your time Are a history buff or military enthusiast Or want to fully experience each site ...I would honestly recommend visiting Pearl Harbor on your own. Don't bother with this group…read more We booked a tour with them to see Spouting Horn and the Waimea Canyon on Kauai via Disney Cruise Line (we were on the ship). Let me be clear, Disney was not responsible for anything that happened on this tour. First, the bus (think Greyhound sized) was 45 minute late arriving. Then, even though the tour had been advertised as "no wheelchairs or scooters," there were 2 on this tour, 1 of which was able to be folded up and stowed, but the other required the use of the lift, which the driver didn't know how to operate. Turns out they were short on drivers and flew her in from Oahu that morning... Once we were able to leave, we got to our first destination (Spouting Horn) after about 20-25 minutes. During this time, our driver ground gears, stopped suddenly and generally had issues driving the bus. We were then told that the brakes had failed (!!!!!) and that the company was sending another bus to replace ours. This took an hour. Several people (including the person in the powered chair) elected to bail and head back to the ship. Wish I'd known that was an option. We endured, and ended up finishing the tour 2 hours after our scheduled return time, but still in time to make all-aboard. The driver was just that - a driver. She was NOT a tour guide and didn't know much about the area, the stops or seem to be terribly concerned with the fact that we were on a schedule. Suffice to say that we checked with the excursion desk to make sure none of our other tours used this operator. Epilogue: Disney Cruise Line did their best to remedy the situation by refunding us half of the tour cost. We also recommended they reconsider this company for future bookings.

LOST is my favorite TV show, and I always dreamed of going to Hawaii. This past April, my parents…read moreand I set sail from Sydney, Australia and ended our cruise in Honolulu. Naturally, since we left Sydney and ended up on "the Island," taking a LOST tour would be the perfect way to end our trip. When planning the trip, the only day we could spare for a full day tour of the island was May 2. I quickly found KOS Tours online which seemed to have the strongest and longest history of giving LOST-centric island tours. They had several half-day options to choose from, but we wanted the full circle tour to see the most in the limited time we had. So I pushed the button without hesitation and we were booked. When we got there, it turned out to only be my parents and me with one other person, so a great small group experience if you want to avoid large tour groups. Like many in other reviews, we had Greg Berquist as our guide. Greg was an extra several times on LOST, most notably appearing at Santa Rosa in scenes with Hurley. Some in other reviews had mixed feelings about Greg's opinions and theories about the show. Honestly, even though I didn't agree with everything he said, he argued his points well. It reminded me of how much I missed watching LOST when it first aired. Theorizing was fun back then and it's still fun to talk about the show now. So I truly appreciated the dialogue and thinking about the show differently than I was naturally inclined. Greg made the day fun, often engaging us in conversation. He used his film experience at times to direct us in taking some quirky and memorable pictures. As we drove from place to place, he loved giving us trivia which in some ways gave me confidence in how well I knew the show. However, he did stump us several times. According to Greg, we were the only group ever in all the years he has run this tour that correctly named all ten Dharma stations from memory. So that's cool. We visited so many places throughout the day, too many to list. But some notables were Sacred Hearts Academy (Eloise's church), Santa Rosa, the Byodo-In Temple, several key beaches from the show, the waterfall at Waimea, and Camp Erdman (the Dharma Barracks). Visiting the Dharma Barracks was the highlight of my day, walking around those famous cabins and taking pictures. What struck me the most is how it still looks just like the show, only with the buildings painted blue. Greg brought us to Ted's Bakery for lunch which was a really nice stop and a much needed pause during the day. So, if you're considering this tour, don't worry about food. Whether you stop at Ted's Bakery or somewhere else, you'll have time to eat. Do I recommend KOS Tours for a great LOST experience? Absolutely. We had a wonderful trip overall, but I think we really saved the best for last. We enjoyed our time chatting with Greg and seeing the sites where so many amazing scenes were shot for such a legendary show. This LOST fan was not disappointed. And if you ever take the LOST tour and I see you in another life, don't be surprised if I pull a Jack and say, "Now you're like me." Namaste!

Prior to booking the specific tour I had questions which were answered quickly upon emailing. We arranged to meet at a soot in Waikiki (hey shoppers pick a meetup at A La Moana so you can shop after your tour). We headed down the ramp and wondered how we would find him but it was pretty easy with a license plate that said Lost on a grey Dharma van! First, I had absolutely no idea that the tour would be conducted by an actor from the show! Greg was in several scenes filmed in HI for Lost and greeted us with a smile & promise of visiting many Lost sites. I won't list all the sites as they may be different for your tour, we wanted ours specifically focused on Lost. I am a huge Lost fan, my husband and teenager were ambivalent. Greg had tons of trivia which we were terrible at but it made it so much fun for all of us. I loved that the tour wasn't rushed, I was able to spend as much time at the beach and the temple as I wanted to reflect on how much the show meant to me. They were both emotional moments and I really appreciate being able to absorb the reality of being there. While I loved every site that we saw (penny's boat!) those two were the highlights for me. I binged Lost on hulu last year and was grateful that for every site we stopped at Greg had pictures of the scene on his iPad to remind us of what occurred there. He gave a very detailed explanation and we had discussions where appropriate. Don't forget, he was an actor in the show so he had a lot of personal input which I loved! My teen said that was his favorite part. Greg and this tour company are unique, there was no attempt to upsell or bring their own camera to sell us pictures afterwards. At every site Greg asked if I wanted a picture and even had some special magic shots for certain sites! I can't tell you or it would be a spoiler for your experience. Greg I still want tshirts when you create them! He even has a custom made CD of his favorite Lost music, which was a treat. This tour with Greg was without a doubt the highlight of our trip, he was incredibly knowledgeable about Hawaii and Lost which is exactly what we were looking for. Not a Lost fan? He has lived in Hawaii all his life and the tour would have been just as meaningful without the movie references. I only wish that we planned to come back again as I would book the Jacob lighthouse hike as well. I guess at some point I'll say "we have to go back!". You could certainly make a list of what you want to see and tour Oahu on your own but you don't get to have the same experience as having a native guide you through it.
