Downers Grove Gerber is horrible. they wanted profit over expediency. I needed my car and it took over 2 weeks for a single radiator!!!! they got my car from north Aurora bc they were busy. tried a used radiator instead of a Hyundai part. Over 2 damn weeks. the downers grove secretary and the tech fixing my car is the worst. get an uber from north Aurora to dg, THEIR PROBLEM. read more

I came in for my initial appointment to assess the damage to my car and it went smoothly and they seemed to know what they were doing. I bring my car in the following week to get it fixed and it takes me calling to get updates for the next week. When I got my car back, I looked underneath as best as I could and saw that the plastic covering on the bottom was still scraped and broken, and wasn't screwed back in. I was fine with the scraped, but I didn't want the plastic hitting something and ripping off so I asked them to screw it back in, and they generously did. When I started driving away, I noticed that it was still making the funny noise that it was previously making and when I brought it to the dealership they pointed out numerous things that were still messed up. There were screws near the engine that weren't screwed in, my muffler was bent and never replaced, and the bumper wasn't completely clipped in. I took pictures and called Gerbur to let them know. The lady I spoke to told me to email her the pictures so they could get it sorted out, and they ghosted me. I never heard back from them. Thank goodness the dealership was nice enough to screw in the screws, properly attach the bumper, and somewhat bang the muffler back to how it's supposed to be. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

I had a great experience here at Gerber. The staff was very helpful (thank you Alicia). I was kept up to date on my car's progress the entire time. Most importantly, the work they did was beautiful. My front fender had to be replaced, and my car looks better than before. They also washed the car and cleaned the interior, which was an added bonus. Fantastic! Dennis? Fantastic Customer service? Fantastic Repairs? Perfect Service? Quick, punctual Communication? Excellent My car was dirty as hell when I dropped it off. It was super clean when I picked it up. I chose a closer shop to where I live but almost every shop is closed on Saturday's but luckily I called Gerber since it says they are open 9-12pm on Saturday's. Dennis answered and even though they don't typically take cars in on the weekend at other locations he was willing to accept my car and told me he would call me Monday. He called me Monday and provided me an update. Throughout the week, he sent me text messages with updates. When I came to pick up my car, it looked great and again Dennis was wonderful and took his time in walking me through every detail of what was fixed, what to do, what not to do with the new paint job etc. I had a rental car throughout the time my car was getting fixed and I was able to leave it parked at the car shop and they had it picked up by the rental company for me so that I would not have to drop it off. So, I was driving and a rock hit my front windshield, and I was like FU((((((KKKK!!!!!!!!!! So, I called here on a Wednesday morning and asked for a chip repair. For a chip in the front windshield, it cost $60 (cash and card accepted), and the guy came over to my place. I could have gotten it done same day, but I was at work, so he came two days later. Open on Saturdays for chip repair as well. Professional and fast, would highly recommend! read more

I was in an accident at 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning and by 11:30 AM, I was on my way to work in a rental car. This is my second time going to this location and I won't be going anywhere else; no matter what. They are professional, friendly, and have the repair process mastered. Particularly on the client-side. I received frequent updates from Kimberly with my cars' status and was called on numerous occasions to make sure I understood the costs, etc... After nearly $7,500 in repairs, I am extremely happy (which is saying something). They worked seamlessly with my insurance, partnered with a nearby rental provider, and I didn't have to do any excess work. After a little over a week of repairs, I found my car in better condition that I would have hoped (or expected). They took the time to clean it (inside & out) and take me through all the work; which is under warranty for life. I'm sold. Anyone going elsewhere for body repairs is really kidding themselves. read more

My car received hail damage several weeks back and after much wrangling with my insurer and their repair shops, I finally asked to go outside. I selected this Gerber Location based on proximity and really that was about it. I had seen other Gerber shops ranked well, so that factored in. I know it sounds cheesy, but I felt immediately welcomed by them, and confident they would do the job right. It was a lengthy repair but the office called me frequently just to keep me up to date. The repair was completed on time and the actual cost (to my insurer) was within a few % of the estimate. It looks like nothing ever happened to my car. Very friendly. Great work. I was in a minor accident and received some damage to my right rear bumper. When I came to Gerber for my initial estimate, I immediately knew I had made the right choice. I was referred to by name every time I walked in the door and was treated with nothing but the utmost kindness and courtesy, especially by my estimator Mr. Carbone and the young lady at the front desk (I believe her name was Kimberly). Mr. Carbone took the time to explain everything that needed to be done, and they coordinated my rental flawlessly with Enterprise. My repairs were done at a lightning speed (I was called the day after I dropped it off to say that it was done!) and they even took the time to buff out some additional unrelated scratches I had on my rear bumper. I was very disappointed with my service here. I had a broken rear view mirror which made it really hard to drive, especially with traffic in Atlanta. I went in on a Monday to get a quote on the mirror and the lady said no one was available to give a quote at the time. She asked that I come back on Wednesday just to get a quote, with no telling how long the mirror would take! Don't go here! That's awful service. Scheduled a windshield replacement, technician called and said he would be there around 11-12. I arrived home at 3:30 excited to see my new windshield and realized no one had came, or called. So I had to call. Operator put me on hold for 5 minutes while she tried to call tech. He didn't answer. She said she would find him and call back. An hour later I called again. She offered to try and call the tech. again. What??? I canceled and called Auto Glass Atlanta. Guy arrived exactly when he said he would, was done in an hour, and charged $30 less. Unfortunately, between my 2 teenage sons and me, we've had several occasions to take our cars to Gerber over the past few years. The first time we went there, it was because it's where our insurance company sent us. Since then, we've been back repeatedly, and we've referred friends there. They are extremely helpful--this past month, I worked with Kimberly, who was knowledgeable, friendly, and very flexible about working with my schedule to do the repairs. She also took care of a few additional unrelated minor things when I came to pick it up (replacing a light bulb in the tail light, for example) that would have taken an afternoon to do at home. In our various visits, they have helped us navigate not only repairs, but insurance claims, and they've been a huge help. Definitely highly recommend. read more

I am posting this review under the Decatur location because that is who I tried to have come fix my car. Gerber is a national chain of shops and although you may dial a local number, you will be transferred to their national office/scheduling center. At least for mobile glass repair this is what happened to me. It may be somewhat unfair to blame Decatur for a complete failure of their corporate offices. So, sorry Decatur, you may want to have a chat with your higher-ups. On to the review... Here's the timeline of events. I called because my truck's rear window had sprung a leak. Spoke to a very nice rep who quoted me a fair price (she even gave me a discount) and scheduled an appointment for a glass tech to come to me four days later. The morning of the appointment (a Saturday), the tech called and said he could not find my replacement glass but would do his best and call me soon. An hour later a different person calls and tells me they received a broken part and would have to reschedule. I say no problem, things happen and we make an appointment for two days later. Two days later (Monday): I call the office at around noon and leave a voicemail as I was told the tech would call me and give his ETA. No one shows up. No calls returned. I think perhaps I got the day of my next appointment wrong, no worries. No more calls from Gerber until I next call them five days later... Friday afternoon: I call and speak to someone who tells me the tech will be out the following Monday. They tell me that if I do not hear from a tech by 9:30am, to give them a call. Monday, 12 noon: I call and speak to someone. "The replacement glass we received was broken and the tech called you a few hours ago." Again?!? I ask incredulously. Also I had never gotten a call so either this person was lying to me or her glass tech was not being truthful. The person tells me that someone will be out the next day, no apologies for my inconvenience and she seems to be in a rush to get me off the phone. The tech will call me in the morning, she says. Tuesday, 11am: I call and am told they will try to reach the tech and get back to me soon. 30 minutes later, a glass tech calls and tells me he is running a little late and will be there by 3-3:30pm. I say "no problem, the vehicle is just sitting there unlocked and waiting." Never hear from the tech again. I get home from work, my truck is untouched. Just for laughs, I have not called them since. They have never called to follow up. Luckily I found a how-to on the internet and sealed my window. I'd much rather have had someone do it for me with a guarantee, but I saved myself $300 as well. Now I know $300+ isn't much to a national chain of body shops, but it's pretty bad to let a potential customer fall through the cracks like this. If I'm ever in an accident, I'll bypass Gerber for repairs. read more

I have been to Gerber Collision three times now. Each time they were extremely helpful and honest. I took my car in a week ago and was initially told I may need a new steering rack, which would cost much more money than I wanted to spend! They called me back later and downgraded the severity of my problem. I trust their integrity and willingness to make things right for their customers. My car was repaired quickly, and their pricing was fair for what needed to be fixed. I hope I do not need to go back for collision repair, but if I ever need to I will certainly be heading back to Gerber in Decatur. Keep up the good work! read more

I had a great experience at Gerber. I was in a fender bender that caused more damage than I thought and they were able to make the repairs in a week and did a fantastic job. Everyone was so nice and helpful. They called enterprise for me and I was picked up at Gerber and able to leave the rental car there when I picked up my car. They even did a small touch up without charging me that was from before the wreck. All in all I had a great experience and would highly recommend! read more
