This place is honesty terrible. It's only for small children the water park is so small ! There isn't even a pool to actually swim in. No early check ins available. Towels are so tiny they're more like hand towels. This place should just shut down its old and run down. Not much to do here. Kids will get bored fast. EIGHT EMTs due high chlorine levels - This place can not maintain the Chloramines in the air. We were there last weekend and it was a horrible experience. Literally everyone was coughing. Several people threw up, including my husband, and many with eyes burning. Two life guards had to be asssisted out by EMTs. One fainted in the lobby. There were people throwing up in the bathroom and out side the front door. One girl I spoke to said she was hallucinating. Two kids threw up in the pool and one had a bloody nose. Their reaction? To shock the water with a high dose of chlorine resulting in giving someone a chemical burn. NO MANAGEMENT IN SIGHT!! No one asking if people were okay, no one helping the young man give people returns. The water park was not shut down until the fire department, being called by a guest, came in and demanded the place be shut down. 8 EMTs were on site checking people out, including my son and husband. Luckily they were okay. The girl in the ambulance with us not as lucky. She was shaking uncontrollably and couldn't breathe. Management submitted a statement to channel 7 saying "it was handled excellently - chlorine levels were checked and normal". I sent an email to Jeremiah Whitman, the operation manager, and no reply. There are reviews on Yelp from 2015 saying the same thing happened to them but the place wasn't shut down. Nice water park for children under six especially because they have a low level area. Lots of life guards made me feel a little better. Dunking waterfall bucket thingy, lazy river and a low level water play area for my 3 year old grandson. The older kids had a ball which is all that matters. Crazy crowded so not enough seating for parents/ watchers. I spent most if my time walking/ watching kids. Food was not too expensive. My daughter had a room with 2 bunks, small but nice neat and looked clean. i stayed one night at connected hotel next door.which also had an indoor pool. Well that was a hot mess. Got a groupon over the summer, and decided to cash in before it expired. I understand it's wintertime, and I went on the Saturday of a long holiday weekend, but wow, just wow. Please note, this is a review for just the water park. So here are a few of the things that helped me form my opinion of this place: Location- right off of 23 in Dundee, this place is closer than most other water park places for us. Also located next to a cabelas- not a big deal for us, but maybe a draw for others. Entrance- the entrance for this place (if you're not staying at the hotel) is in between the hotel and water park. The entrance is not well labeled, so we had to drive around a little bit, and worse, walk around in the cold for a little bit, trying to figure out where the entrance to the water park is. And the parking around that area is very limited. If you were staying in the hotel, not a big deal I suppose, but for us, this was an inconvenience for sure. Prices- we had a groupon, so it was about $11 a person. Otherwise it's 24.99 for an all day pass, and 12.99 for twilight passes (5-9 or something like that) Front desk- going along with their lack of labeling, when you get there, it's not very clear where you're supposed to purchase tickets to go to the water park. There was a line to check in for bday parties (which looked to be the place you would also buy tickets), but in fact, you are supposed to go into the gift shop. No defined line, so you kinda just roll up on people. Water Park- again, this was a particularly busy day, which I get, but that aside here are a few of the areas and what I thought: Lazy River- where do you get a tube? Really, REALLY crowded. Play area- pretty cool. There are a number of buckets of water scattered throughout the playscape that eventually fill up and dump on unsuspecting victims. There's even a large bucket that pretty much drenches the entire group. Slides seem to be at your risk as they don't have anyone monitoring when you should go and not go. Changing area- for a place this size, the locker room (or rather restroom) was frankly too small. 5 stalls for people to change, and the floors are covered with water. Yeah, not great. Slides- didn't actually get to go on the two big ones, but they looked pretty elaborate and fun Little kids wading area- the water in this area is approximately 15-20 degrees warmer than the playscape and the lazy river water. Kinda makes you wonder if this was done on purpose, or the water is warm for some other reason (eww, you know what I'm saying?) Arcade- right next to the swimming area, they have an arcade with games that dispense tickets. Decent selection, but coming from the swimming area, it felt like you were stepping outside. Pool- why is there no pool in this place? OVERALL- not a fan. the huge crowd probably didn't help, but combined with the inadequate changing area, lack of signs, and overall chaos happening, we will not be coming back. When you ask a question they look at you like you're an alien. Pizza was cardboard. Nacho cheese scorched, hot dogs burnt. Soda machine was running too strong. The breakfast buffet is where you get the prison feel. Tables are sticky. Food was burnt. Eggs tater tots and sausage. Over flowing trash cans. The restaurant/bar ceiling is leaking on the tables. A mgr and staff fooling around, standing around while there's a line of people waiting to be checked in. You can't even check in until 4. They refused a late check out. They starting pounding on our room door at 10:20 am to kick us out. Our check out was 11!! The room was nice. The food was disgusting. The pizza was like cardboard. Cold. The cookies were as hard as a rock. The breadsticks were hard and burnt. The kids enjoyed themselves. The people are of another breed inside the park area. Kids running around and rude. Parents watch your teenaged daughters!! Grown ass men trying to pick up my 14 yr old. Staff did not care and did not patrol the rowdiness. Save your money!! read more

The absolute WORST experience I've ever had at a water park. Over chlorinated water packed with people like sardines in a can. Lifeguards that just walk around doing nothing. Kids running everywhere with NO adult supervision. Puke in the bathroom and entrance to the bathroom. 35 minutes just to get my credit card back after ordering one beer.... and the room??? We should've just made this a day trip. We got a Family Suite for my niece's birthday for the weekend. Reserved the room about 2-3 weeks in advanced and paid an extra $50 for a late check out. Got here and was told we didn't pay that $50, even though we did the reservation over the phone. We got charged for that again. Then we paid for 8 wristbands per day (with the reservation) for the weekend and was told we got 4 per day but then they said "Oh, but we can give you the other 4." We were surprised that they even got our room right at this point. The waterpark is very unorganized and seemed like they broke the capacity level every day. You couldnt even stretch your arms in there. No one keeps an eye on their kid so if you got a baby, be prepared to fight some kids cause they will jump on your kid. Lifegaurds pick and choose who they say things to. "One person at a time on a slide" but two grown adults can go together but when i hold my 2 year old neice down it its a problem. They don't monitor how many kids go down at once and kids pile up at the end of each slide. The guests here are of another breed. Not all, some are very nice and have basic manners but the others are like feral animals. Our upstair neighbors were "bowling" all night, kept the 2 youngest up all night. Every night after 10:30pm these people started jumping, stomping and god knows what else. Even the first night, we called the Front Desk about it 5x but no answer at all. Our hallway smelled like marijuana the whole weekend and I have nothing against a weed smoker but when youre staying in a kid-orientated hotel, smoke it outside, seriously. This place is a joke. We were so excited to try a new water park!!! Well the disappointment hit hard and fast with this place. This place is DIRTY from the disgusting bathrooms with warped doors (wont shut all the way) to the NASTY concession stand (staff threw my sons dip-n-dots to the point it almost slipped off the counter, flies all over, spilled food in the back, and the fryer OMG how old is that oil?) The lazy river has parts of the sides that are chipped and sharp, slimy, and just GROSS! The outside play area was closed down and rusted. The adults only hot tub was in a dark unlit corner , chipped and dirty. Not a place we will be back to and I'll warn others to pass on as well. I did get a call from the manager but she never returned my calls or emails after her one attempt to reach me. I also heard from a family that had stayed in the hotel that their bed sheets had dark smears on them that looked to be from the person before them... This is the perfect place to go with little kids. The waterpark is pretty timid. It has a very small lazy river with inner tubes, two water slides, a zero-entry pool, and a water playground. There is also a hot tub for adults only. We went on a weekday and it was perfect for a quick getaway. The price of the hotel stay includes waterpark passes, which you can use the entire day of checkout. The waterpark was clean, open, and well staffed with lifeguards. The hotel room was very clean and although we just stayed in the basic room, we did take a look at some of the family suites and they were very nice. The rooms have a cabin or "up north" theme to them. Since this hotel/park is right across the street from Cabela's, the central theme is animals. Dead animals. There are a lot of taxidermy displays in the front lobby at check in. If you are in to that kind of thing, you will love it. If it creeps you out, (like it did me) then you might want to stay out of the lobby. Continental breakfast was basic, but well set up for families. There isn't much in the area except Cabela's, the hotel, and a few restaurants. If you want a low-key get away with the younger kids, this is a good place to do it. read more

I have been to this water park on a few occasions and find that on the whole it's a great place for a fun, and fairly inexpensive family get away. Although, this resort seems more geared towards kids, it is still possible for adults to have a good time. Unfortunately, there's not much to this place and after a day or so it loses some of it's appeal. Despite this, it is worth visiting at least once. One piece of advice I can give you is to stay away from The Treehouse Pub and Grub Restaurant on the second floor. Although it is conveniently located, it is such a lousy restaurant that if I were reviewing it as a stand alone restaurant, I wouldn't give it a single star. This place serves up a lot of poorly cooked garbage that you can get at any grocery store and tries to pass it off as restaurant food. One bite and you'll be hugging the toilet later. read more

Horrible. I requested a rollaway bed when I made the reservation and was told I'd have one, only to learn upon arrival that they are first come first serve. No one at the front desk cared at all and it took a half hour on the phone to get us accommodations with enough places to sleep. Cost only $20 to upgrade my room, which was worth it, but I was treated like a burden the entire time I tried to straighten out the issue when I just wanted everyone to have a place to sleep. I realize that's a lot to ask of a hotel. The food court in the water park was out of a lot of items too. I emailed customer service about my experience a few weeks later and didn't even get the courtesy of a response. I will never go back. They do not care about their customers. read more

It was like thirty dollars a person, and you don't even get a towel at the door. While there is beer, and there is a hot tub for people 18 and older that's very roomy, this place is swarming with kids. It didn't feel big enough. The lazy river had so many people in there at once it wasn't relaxing. There is no water that is deep to swim and play in, it is all shallow water. We purchased 6 passes to your waterpark for a family trip for Christmas. We were All excited to ride down the slides and enjoy the lazy river as a family for New Years Day! Upon arriving the place was packed we had a long wait to get our wristbands because the gift shop/tickets counter had one young lady doing it all and still smiling. We get inside and it's insane busy, we then realize we have to go back to that very busy counter to get in that long line again to get a locker. UGH! We finally get situated and realize that the water is as cold as our outside pool temperature and there goes our plan spending time with the kids on the slides. I can't even put my feet in the water it's so cold. My kids wouldn't even go in the lazy river it was too cold! And only went down the slide a few times ther lips were blue They wanted to hang out in the toddler area which is what we did ankle high water. The restrooms were a disaster and all but one stall was out of toilet paper not wiping your bottom then going back to the slides is pretty gross. I wish that we were informed of the No heat & NO hot water situation when purchasing our tickets , we would've come back another day. Needless to say we had a very short visit here. Also they have two tube slides , lazy river, kid splash and play area with small slide & toddler area, the only place with somewhat warm water And a seculded adult hot tub that burned your eyes out of it's sockets from clorine because its in a cave and way back in a corner so you couldn't see your kids. Best ages Toddler to 12 years. My 10 years old wouldv'e enjoyed it if it wasn't FREEZING! My 15 & 18 were bored said it was lame and were cold that didn't help. There are two big waterslides. Where there are waterslides and kids, there is fun. With a hot tub for adults only, there is a break from the noise and rush of the rest of the park. The lazy river is inviting, but it's not so much lazy as crazy, with half the people in the park trying to float down the river at the same time, causing multiple traffic jams. Still fun. Just not lazy. Food is overpriced, as expected at a water park, so we stopped for a snack at Tim Horton's just down the block before coming in, just for this reason. Small towels are provided, and there are many private changing rooms in the bathrooms, freeing up the toilets for people who need them. Speaking of people who need to use the toilet . . . Please, if you or your child is sick, stay out of the water. Having the park close for a half hour because somebody throws up in the lazy river just isn't right, and is avoidable. I have very mixed feelings about my stay at Splash Universe hotel and indoor water park. The room was nice, the bunk beds with their individual lights were especially cool for our 6 and 8 year old boys. Decently clean and mildly comfortable. The restaurant was decent, but very limited seating especially since there was a family who allowed three young children to sit at an 8 person table, not the businesses fault, but I feel something could have been done to accommodate us better. It was the waitresses first day so things were slow, but accurate. The special was smothered chicken, and it was DELICIOUS! We ordered their drink special : Love Potion #9 and it was a treat itself! The breakfast in the morning was fantastic! Huge variety of food choices from cold cereal to eggs and biscuits and gravy! The water park was a blast! The only thing that would have made it better is the water being warmer, we were shaking cold unless we had our bodies completely submerged in the water, which was only possible in the crowded lazy river. Our boys had a BLAST though, and that was the whole point of our stay at Splash Universe. All together is was a great family "vacation" experience! read more

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. When we got there we got early check in so that was great but everything was extremely unclear when booking the room. No one said the water park wasn't included In the package and No one Said a thing about the entire water park being closed on Wednesday's. I mean why would people come and book a bunk bed suite if they knew the whole park was closed on Tuesdays at 6 and all day Wednesday?? No where on the site is that clear when booking a room. I booked on line and confirmed on the phone so there is so excuse for not letting me know at some point. We were planning on having dinner in the restaurant but that was also closed. After that they over charged my card. They were supposed to take care of it the day before and they did not, so the next day I went down to clear it up (I was extremely nice about it) and I heard the manager in the office talking crap about me!!! I heard the lady I was taking to say to her "she is standing at the desk" I think she thought I was on hold on the phone. Completely unacceptable. After that the lady I was taking to came and apologized but the people that were taking about me didn't say a word to me. I really wish I would have gotten their names! This on top of the blankets being smelly and gross. It's too bad but I can say we will NEVER return. I am not going to be disrespected by people where I am paying to stay when it was their mistake in the first place. EXTREMELY disappointed with my visit and feel like we wasted money and time coming there. My stay was July 24-July 25 2018. Edit*** the actual park was extremely overwhelming with chorine, my eyes stung the whole time in the water park area and I didn't even want to take off my flip flops because it felt pretty dirty in there. We had a good time here over Memorial Day weekend.... however it was EXTREMELY crowded. It seemed the staff, which consisted of what appeared to be high school students, had a difficult time keeping the water park and bathrooms clean and keeping up with the guests at the snack bar. We could not find open seats anywhere... we ended up renting an overpriced cabana. It was nice to have our own designated seats, but pretty pricey. Wait staff for the cabana were attentive & friendly, drinks were good, food was average and overpriced.... however we didn't have to wait in the long snack bar line. The temperature inside the water park was brutal... unless you were in the water, you would be sweating! The lifeguards were alert and attentive. They seemed to pay close attention to all guests in the water. There were multiple lifeguards in every area. I saw them tending to a young girl(who may have been 8 or 9 years old..maybe overheated?) for quite a while... no parent or adult in sight for the 10+ minutes I observed them tending to her At least one life guard was by her side at all times, getting her water & an ice pack for behind her neck. Great job to the many lifeguards!! Overall it was a fun experience for my girls and close to home. An easy overnight get away, hopefully there will be other options like Splash Universe in southeast Michigan soon! read more

Let me just start by getting it out of the way, among all the horrible things at this hotel that we encountered, the number one, bottom line reason that you should never venture to this hotel is BED BUGS! We found actual live, crawling around on the bed, BED BUGS. Nothing like hauling your two children out into the cold December night at 11:30 p.m and telling them you have to leave the waterpark they've been looking forward to all of Christmas vacation! NO TOWELS available in the waterpark either. NO TOWELS for well over two hours in a PACKED facility. Seriously, get it together Splash Universe. EVERY BAD REVIEW YOU GET SAYS NO TOWELS were available. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Guests did not have rooms available at their 3pm check-in time. This is a repeated, documented problem as well. FIX IT. NO WIFI connection. The hotel states that wifi is available and assured me every room has it but we could never get connected. Not one time. Staff was not helpful, did not know any information, did not know what was going on or how to do anything including check-in. Staff was high school aged and obviously have a high turnover rate. BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS, BED BUGS. DISGUSTING!! NEVER EVER EVER EVER GO HERE. You will be very disappointed. read more

This place isn't so bad if your traveling and need a hotel anyway and maybe the package with the room makes more sense. It was certainly setup to accommodate hotel guests more than day pass users. The park is OK as far as what they had Brenda's review describes it adequately, but I was disappointed from the time we walked in. Here were my issues. This was for a family of 3 (parents and a 4yo). - cost for 1/2 day pass for the 3 of us was just under $80 (no problem if its worth that) - "Changing Room" has no benches just a wall of showers, some bathroom stalls, 3 stalls with plastic lawn chairs for changing and no shelves. So the process of getting geared up was a huge pain, had to sit my bag on the bench in the handicap stall (btw that shower did not work) to keep it dry and pull the plastic chair over to negotiate the process of getting street clothes off while keeping them from getting wet on the wet floor. Locker room style benches would have made it a non issue, but it was very poorly setup. - After we got through with that they have a couple banks of those, quarter in to release the key, lockers, except for they are the 1'x1 variety so not so easy to get a bag into with street clothes for 3 people, didn't matter anyway because they were all occupied and the place did not seem overly busy. We had to stash our bag with all our valuables over against the wall near a collection of bags from people in our same situation. - We were disappointed to find out that on the intermediate slides our 4 yo could not go down with us, solo runs only. He was too scared to go by himself. This is their policy for safety so I don't hold it against them just disappointing as we are able to do this at other parks. - 2 features in the kid area were not functioning properly - Stairs to large slides had some cracks that could pinch the skin, some areas were "repaired" with duct tape - This last one seems nit picky but... They use ty-raps (zip-ties if you like) to secure some cording on the kids play area. This cording is on the rope rails where you would grab on to get yourself up a net ladder to the next level. These ty-raps were not cut flush. Seems nit picky but this is actually a safety hazard as the protruding hard plastic ends which commonly come to somewhat of a sharp angle can cut you. All in all for this kind of money we expected a step up from Zhender's in Frankenmuth which is a great water park and where we've gone in the past, but what we got was a huge step down and spent more money for it. Might be OK if you need a hotel on the way through but I would never go as a day user and we'll never be there again. read more

It was seriously filthy. I'm not a germaphobe at all and I have no idea how this places passes code. First of all, there isn't a separate entrance into the locker rooms so people just walk in with their street shoes right by the pool to get to the locker rooms. There isn't enough drainage so you're literally walking in mud around the pool, in the locker rooms, etc. the locker room was something nightmares are made of. Filthy floors, toilet paper, no place to set your items down while you change except a few plastic chairs. Dirty diapers just sitting in the showers. The water in the kiddie pool was really cloudy but warm, unlike the rest of the water in the other areas. The pools and slides were fine, but the air! There was no much chlorine that my eyes were burning and my head never went underwater! The wait in line for overpriced snack bar food was an HOUR. All the trash cans were overflowing (including the bathroom ones-EWW) by 3pm. So very glad we tried this out at a special price. Definitely NOT worth the regular day price of $32! Drive a little further and hit another, bigger waterpark in Ohio. read more

The restaurant manager is rude and food takes over an hour to come and will still come out cold but don't complain cause nobody will help.. they just will greet you with rude comments and tell you the food is hot and you don't know what your talking about.... the arcade has an average price of $3.00 a game.... the pool area will have your eyes burning from the chlorine in the air you don't have to sit in the water for that to happen.... trying to get into your room and visiting front desk because your room key doesn't work is another story.. we needed to have 10 keys remade because the key cards wouldn't work... and to top it off they will over charge your credit card on the day of your reservations so you will need to call in or visit the front desk to have that fixed or so they say... 2 days later and no changes in my bank account. So in theory you pay the premium to stay in a "resort" and get zero customer service.. read more

Extremely disappointed with this water park and hotel. The water was cold, bugs in the lazy river, and ALOT of chlorine. Water park doesn't open until 4 on Friday which is fine but nothing was ready at 4. No towels in the water park (at least for a good hour and then they were TINY), food areas not ready... We had the family fun suite....water in shower wouldn't turn off. Had to call maintenance 2 times. We had a king size, 2 bunk beds and a pull out couch. Went to get into king size bed and sheets were covered in long strands of hair and some unknown stain. Tried calling house keeping and guest services multiple times, no answer. Finally called main line from my cell and got through. Was told it would be 30 minutes (It's 10pm at this time and I'm tired!) Call back an hour later still no sheets. Finally the front desk person brought me sheets only to find they were NOT king size.... when I spoke to manager in morning all that was offered was an arcade gift card.... This place is disgusting. The changing area floors and even inside of the stalls were soaked and smelly. I get an occassional wet trail here and there but the floors were so wet that someone could easily fall and hurt themselves. Someone should be coming through maintaining the cleanliness of the the changing and restroom area at least once an hour. The arcade area had games that didn't even work and weren't worth the prizes. Sadly I took my grandkids and my son here yesterday - the food was awful (burgers) how can that be messed up? Well they were like pressed meat...so nasty and expensive on top of that. I'm glad we didn't get a room after reading about the bedbugs today! The pools were not very nice read more

We recently visited on New Years Day, the water was freezing. My husband, two 13 years olds, a baby and myself were all shivering!! I mentioned this to a lifeguard and you get the same usual response you get from teenagers....no help! The bath/change rooms are gross and don't even have benches to dress the little ones. We bought online tickets for 17.99, but prices go up to 31.99 (totally not worth that much). Not to mention a large locker for the day cost $15. We were trying to get out of the winter cold for the day but it was instead a pretty disappointing experience and a waste of $100 bucks. read more

The water is fine. The lifeguards are fine. But whatever you do, don't go there expecting food or service in any way shape or form. I literally waited two hours for service. Not going back. Ever. read more

My 2 year old enjoyed himself, and it seems to be made with the younger kids in mind which was great! The life guards on the other hand are still in high school and you can tell some were kind of power happy. The food is water park priced which is over priced. For the only waterpark in the area, it's nice that it's there. But that's the end of it. They sold passes thru a fundraiser but would not honor them when presented and claimed "they were sold out". The pass didn't say that you had to make a reservation. When you've told small children that you're going to the waterpark and then have to turn around and tell them that you cannot get in, it's extremely bad for future business. Extremely crowded for a small area. No place to sit and the restaurant doesn't open until 4. Not worth the value unless you can go when there isn't a crowd. Even with the crowd, the line for the slides goes fast. Doubt we will be back. read more

WAYYY too much Chlorine in the water....people were literally struggling to breathe because of the high chlorine levels. Waterpark itself is ok (not bad but nothing special) Hotel Room was acceptable, but we weren't blown away The Restaurant at Splash Universe has a very strange set up, you have to go up to them and order instead of a waitress taking your order. The food was pretty good though. All in all not a terrible experience but not great either. They seriously need to tone down the chlorine levels...as I mentioned before its overpowering, and annoying to say the least! read more
