You can't lower your prices any more, so you had better work on your lackluster customer service to prevent Cabala's from stealing your last gasp of retail air. How do I know this? Years of business consulting! Oh, and a few unsavory customer service experiences at your Kennewick store (5 total). Here is the Cliff Notes version for success as my gift to you: 1. Greet the customer (with a smile) when they enter the store and help with wayfinding. 2. Have salespeople roaming the store looking for opportunities to help. This also serves a loss prevention function. 3. Upon checkout, have the salespeople interact with the customer (again, with a smile) and have them thank the customer for choosing Sportsman's Warehouse. All of the sales people I've ever encountered at this store have been unenthused and unfriendly. Shopping is about the availability, price, and shopping experience. They discriminated against me when me and my partner were looking at guns...they openly embarrassed me in front of other customers questioning my motive as to why I was buying a rifle. Wow. My wife and I went there as beginner fishers and Adrian from the fishing dept totally hooked us up. His customer service was OUTSTANDING. We were treated so well from finding the best rods for what we need, to getting set up with our reels and lures. read more

Had a nice Kayak on layaway. Canceled the order and was told I'd see the money in about 5 days. Since the girl didn't quite know if she was doing it right. I called back a few days later, see if it's done right. They said yes it was done correctly and I'd be receiving it still. It's been almost a month and several phone calls later still haven't received my money. They say it's my bank. But after checking with my banker there has been absolutely no activity of any returned money. And Sportsman doesn't really care about one individual getting their money back. I can get a print out to show that I haven't received any money from sportsman's. They haven't even offered a gift card or anything to alleviate my anxiety of the store stealing from me. Bought and paid for pistol July 4th. Due to lack of custom concern they didn't let me know my background check had come back clean and I could pick up my pistol until Aug. 3rd. I drove over from Tacoma the next day only to be told I was just hours over the 29 day limit and I was now not able to get my pistol and must start the process over again. What ? The clown I talked to could have told me I was disqualified over the phone and save me a 10hr. trip + price of gas. I had called over and over for updates. Did everything I could to simply buy a pistol, They just don't give a damn. A third grader with a crayon could have figured this out but there team of professionals just couldn't get it together. Save your self the grief and buy elsewhere. read more

This place is a great place to visit. I spend way too much money on hunting/fishing/camping for my own good, and much of that money goes here. Good points: Friendly staff Clean store Well organized Fishing department help is great Things to work on: Prices can be high (a couple of times I ordered the product online right from my phone while still in the store). Gun counter gets busy...need to come during hours when they aren't busy so you can actually look at a gun As a fly fisherman, they need to do a better job keeping flies in stock and offer more of a selection. They are the only game in town for flies...guess I will just keep ordering online. But small complaints aside, this place is well worth your visit. read more

Seems like a nice enough place. Some of the taxidermied animals that are provided by other local businesses look a little rough but that isn't a reflection on this store. They have a ton of outdoor equipment and some really nice firearms. The store feels a bit cluttered but they seem to have a ton of supplies that they offer in somewhat of a limited space. Don't get me wrong this place is pretty big but it seems like they could do with a building upgrade. Very disappointed in the greed of this company and the customer service! We love this store and support it when we can, given the high prices. Our kids enjoy the all the animals when we shop. However the return policy of items WITH a receipt is a joke! A company this large and that has numerous supporters in our community would need to be so greedy. We needed to return a hunting/hiking pack that was no longer needed - never used - 37 days after purchasing it. We had the receipt and could've used the cash back, but the store would ONLY allow us a STORE GIFT CARD. They said that we had to return WITHIN 30 days to get cash back, however we missed that mark by 7 days and they still would not honor it. I feel that if anyone has a receipt to go along with their item to be returned, that has not been used, should get cash back. I do agree 100% that if you do not have a receipt for your item or your item has been used, that should most definitely warrant a store gift card, not cash back. read more

I'm not sure who does their buying now but this store has gone way downhill over the past year. Use to be the only place I bought ammo. Over the last 4 trips in a month the shelves are just more bare and the ammo I want is never there. Just empty spots. Done giving them chances, it's not worth going in anymore to even check. Back to the competition. Price doesn't matter much when nothing is ever in stock for months. Taking my business down the road from now on. Update: went to locally owned competitor that had full shelves, two grains of the ammo I wanted to choose from, and $3 cheaper per box. read more

This store has improved. Probably the the strongest aspect is the knowledgeable people at the gun counter. The stock is intermittent, but that is the theme these days. The store is well staffed. Prices are not low, but some items are more competitive than others. read more

Well, I may move the star to 2 after the store manager redeemed herself. I bought a raft here, got home, and realized it was used, damaged, had dirt all over it, holes in it, and duck tape in it. When I went to return it I asked to talk to manager...he was an elderly man and offered no explanation about why he sold us a damaged item. He seemed confused why I was upset and quietly returned our item. BUT, I emailed the company and made a formal complaint and she consequently VERY professional and mailed me a gift card for my troubles. But, as for the in store service....BOOOO! This place is now called "Wholesale Warehouse" and let me tell you by the time you get to the register you feel like you over paid for everything. This place since it's old name has always been overpriced and out of the things you need the most for the beginning fishing season. Although, sometimes you might catch a great deal on shoes or ploes. Lazy workers. Boyfriend waited over 30mins for someone to help him with a new boot size that we asked to put on hold a couple days before.

Was very disappointed in the salesmen's lack of knowledge, helpfulness, and motivation. Visited this location to buy items for kayaking, and I was shuffled around from one end of the store to the other end making about four rounds through the entire store. I spoke with at a minimum of 4 employees not including the employees who spoke to other employees for help themselves. An older gentleman wouldn't even look up from the sleeping bag he was stuffing in it's bag, when I asked if the particular whistle that I was holding was nautical or not, his response to me was "well did you read the back of the package?" Other employees only pointed to a general location as to where I could find the item I was looking for, one employee kept saying "um, I'm not sure, I don't know, I guess I could ask for you", I ended up walking off from her. By the time I was ready to check out I was met by a cashier that looked over a life jacket for about 3 minutes looking for some type of code. I believe his name was Brice or something near that, he moved with absolutely no motivation, he reminded me of a sloth, and that is no exaggeration. read more

Listen, I've been going to this store since I was a kid. I've always loved it but today that changed. I went to return a pair of boots and the customer service I received was awful. My husband and I went there today and did some Christmas shopping. There were 0 cashiers. But two people at the tag and return counters and another guy standing in the background. After standing for several minutes waiting for the the guys that were picking their tags out, I asked the gentleman in that background, is this where I am supposed to buy my merchandise. He said yeah. So after waiting a few more minutes, we left my merchandise and walked out. What a waste of two hours of our time. They have very nice knowledgable people behind the counters, to bad they dont seem to have a Manager on site to see where to pick up the slack. read more

Very happy that it has been sold back to Sportsmans Warehouse. New management is better, and the store is more involved with contests and seminars to attend. There is a better selection of products than it was the other store, and they even price matched what I wanted to buy. They were willing to go the extra mile to ensure I got what I wanted.
