Website is so slow and has such bad search capabilities that it's just not worth using. Often has incorrect information as to what is currently available in stock. Makes shopping there a real chore. Shame, because they have lots of quality items. Staff far too often has to call for additional assistance. read more

This is an awesome Retailer in Rochester. staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. We have bought 5 Kayaks here along with camping gear, clothing, ammunition, fishing gear and tackle. I came here for a gift for an avid outdoors man..but I was quickly overwhelmed with so many gift options ( I went with a gift card lol) I did love all the displays with wild life and creative scenes through out the store. We shop here all the time for fishing gear/supplies, and everyone is always so friendly! Unless you have to deal with manager, Kyle. We had bought a pair of waders and soon after, they began to leak. We emailed the company who made them, and were told to return them to Sportsman's in exchange for a new pair. We brought a printout of this email with us. The cashier didn't know how to do an exchange, and called the manager, Kyle, up front. Immediately it felt like Kyle was on this weird power trip-- said they don't do exchanges and mansplained how the store would just have to "eat the cost" because of us. We even said we've definitely exchanged other products before, so we're a bit confused, and he said "I've been the store manager for years, you have not." The fishing selection here is top notch. Both the sport fishing and fly fishing selection is vast but not overbearing. This is my favorite spot to go and check out different kinds of tackle and flies. read more

Very pricey and rarely any sales. Employees are like crows, you walk near one to ask a question and they scatter. I placed an online order for a shotgun and when I call to talk to someone in the gun department I am constantly told they are too busy to take my call. Not very customer friendly. This store is wonderfully organized and decorated (for the outdoors person). Everything is neatly placed and taken care of. When you walk in there is a gas fireplace and oversized comfortable chairs for those who are tired and just waiting for their outdoors person to finish shopping, brilliant! Wish this place was still Field and Stream. Since they've switch over I've gone 2-3x and it's been awful. Their computer systems are god awful and it took 30 min to do a simple return for a pair of shorts that still had the tags on them and everything. I even asked if I could just swap them out for the exact same shorts but in a different size and was told no can do which I find ridiculous coming from working as a manager in retail for many years. Also, the employees should be a little more cautious who they are around as an employee was talking trash about another employee they spoke to over the headset right in front of me and my son. Will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. Luckily Dicks sporting goods in across the way. read more

Seems like no one knows what they are doing. Purchased a gun and it took 3 different people to figure out how to write up the paper work. Also their website is NOT iOS compatible!! Huge mistake. This is why I purchase 99% of my stuff from Amazon. It's just easy and friendly. read more

I just visited this place. It has tons of great stuff, and the ambiance is amazing (there's a beautiful fireplace and leather furniture right when you walk in) but really feels like a place for men not women. I left and went to another place. Highly recommend it for men though. read more

Great store, excellent fishing department. By far the best multi brand fly fishing section of any store around here. Reasonable prices as well. Decent float fishing section. Lots of Carhartt and Wolverine clothing. They also carry some nice higher end Men's brand clothing like Filson and Woolrich. Fat selection of beef jerky too, and thats cool in my book. read more

This place is great. Guys at the gun counter take the time to ask what you are looking for and are happy to talk you out of buying the wrong gun. I watched them talk people out of expensive guns that weren't what they needed. Honest and willing to tell you what you don't need. For a big box store they are really good. read more

I just visited Field and Stream for the very first time. I w as very excited to do some Christmas shopping for my Father, who is an avid fisherman, however that did not happen. While the store is wonderful and nicely organized, my customer experience was less than magical. When I and my Mother were walking around the store, no one and I mean no one said hello or asked if we need any help. Thus I walked out and did not buy anything. As someone who holds a degree in hospitality, greeting your customers is a basic of the service industry. Field and stream....up your customer service game! read more

Nice place for the outdoor lovers. No sports gear or equipments. Nothing but stuff for anglers, hunters, campers, outdoor living supplies. I was told that Dickssportinggoods was the parent company, but F&S seem s bit more pricey than Dicks. The same Carrhart jacket goes for $119 at Dicks, but priced at $139 at F&S. Be smart and do your research when shopping. $20, that's a nice meal!!! read more

Probably the largest selection in Rochester for outdoor gear, sales staff is hit or miss friendly staff far more often than not, however expect to pay full retail price on everything there are really no good deals to be found here and methinks by the pace of traffic in store that it shan't be round much longer, i feel similarly about gander mtn. but they have better deals, and ems is kinda meh, here's hoping that Bass Pro Shop will be better when/if it comes. I'm surprised with all of our great outdoors here we don't have a better store like rei.. though I know we don't really get out there like they do in the West, we do have some outdoorsy people here ok /rant. read more

Very nice store and presentation. Great addition to the retail footprint in Henrietta/Rochester. But... Unfortunately, no military or veteran discount available here. Somewhat ironic when looking at the huge American flag mural on the wall by the check-out area. Would a 10% discount (like Lowe's) affect their corporate profits that much? Field and Stream, please consider implementing a military discount. I have to believe there are many military members and veterans visiting your stores. Great selection, beautiful store, awful customer service and prices. Went in with my girlfriend to buy some camping supplies and pepper spray. (which is legal and available at Gander Mountain and other retail locations throughout NY) The camping gear was significantly cheaper online (Eno hammock and etc.) and the older man at the gun counter rudely told my girlfriend pepper spray is illegal in NY and not to bother with it, which is highly incorrect and incredibly unpleasant. I was disappointed and frustrated after leaving this store I think I'll just go to Gander Mountain next time. read more
