I like this location fine! I was wondering why it gets rated so low and it looks like it's primarily been a customer service issue. The only bone to pick (that I can tell) would be that if you need help on the floor, you sometimes have to comb the place for it. In their defense, the place is so large that they'd have to be significant overstaffed in order to feel like help was easily accessible. Pretty typical in the super large warehouse sized stores. They seem to have the things we need and when we need them. Customer service is friendly and helpful (thank you, Alex). This is absolutely ridiculous. I do my due diligence and look up available places to purchase my gun. Your website lists it available at 4 different locations. I make my purchase and get ready to pick it up. When I call to check on the order the guy at the hunting / gun counter was extremely rude. He acted like I was bothering him to check my order. He then Tells me that he doesn't even have the gun. The inventory online is a lie. He said he doesn't even know when or if the gun would arrive. I mention that online it's available at several locations. . I called the customer line. She was absolutely no help. I tell her AGAIN that the online site says the gun is available at 4 locations. SHe then gives me the worse bullshit filled excuse that inventories arent updated until after payment. Which again is bullshit because BEFORE I purchased my gun it was telling me it was available. And when I make her check to actual inventory it turns out the gun may possibly be at their Visalia location. If your online inventory can't be trusted or you have your employees lie about what is currently on stock , that is a problem. I canceled the order and OF COURSE it will be several business days before I get it back. Don't waste your money buy elsewhere. When will I learn? I went in to buy ammo. Saw a guy waiting to be helped while some other customers were being assisted at the counter. I asked him if there was a separate line for ammunition sales and he said no. He then told me that all he wanted to do was buy four boxes of ammo. When I asked him how long he had been standing there, he told me a half an hour. I walked out to my car and drove home. This location does not follow the company price match policy!!! I called to confirm the price match one of the competitors (Scheels) on the website and list. They confirmed they do. I then confirmed they had the item I was looking for in stock, they confirmed they did. I drove 1.5 hours (one way, from my location at the time) to the location to get the item I called about. When. I got there and was told, "that price is quite low, let me check with my manager". Upon the employees return, she stated the manager said they can not match the price per the manager, even though the advertised price meet all the requirements listed in the company's written policy. I referenced the stores policy and that I had even contacted the corporate customer service department, and showed them the email confirmation for the price match and showed them the price from corporate, but would have to order it online and wait. She stated again that the manager said they will not match the price, despite the other locations and corporate honoring the company policy. I have spoke to other customers that have had similar experiences with this store. This location does not seem to care about company policy, customer service or inconveniencing customers. I am the The only other person waiting to be helped. There are two associates helping two clients at this time. Some guy walks up who needs ammo. A man walks out from the back, not wearing a uniform signifying that he's an employee begins to help this gentleman, even though I was there before them so I thought to myself no big deal maybe that guy just wants to get some ammo and takeoff well apparently these two knew each other and the employee who was not dressed for Work was named Zach so Zach finishes helping his buddy and then walks back in the back. Then another guy walks up and Zack pops out again who starts helping him instead of me so now I'm like OK this is a thing again. Zach seem to know the guy that he was hoping the reason why I know this is because the guy said nice to see you again, brother have a great day so then I waited another 10 minutes for Jonathan to help me. Jonathan was fine. The crappy part was that Johnathon had me out of there in less than 10 minutes. Why couldn't Zach have done that now? Maybe there's only certain people that can deal with firearm sales but the reason why I know that Zach could've helped me was because in California you have to do a background check in order to purchase ammo, which means that Zach has the capability to release my firearm to me. Furthermore, I believe Zach to be the manager of that department so Zach if you ever read this which I'm 100% certain you want and based on the amount of surveys and reviews Sportsman's Warehouse gets, they're all roughly about 2 1/2 stars. I ordered a handgun from Sportsman's on 9 Aug, 2022, they charged my credit card on 11 August. I was scheduled to pick up the handgun on Aug 17, went into the store (there phones were down) and told their delivery from Carson City had not arrived, should be the 18 or 19 Aug. Called Customer service on 19 Aug to cancel the order as the website was showing expected delivery as 24 Aug. Was told and verified by email that the cancelation had been forwarded to another dept and I would receive another email with the "official" cancelation. Then expect my charge to be reversed in 7 or 10 days. It has now been 5 days still no official cancelation email and website shows expected availability of the firearm to be Aug 31. Either the mail order dept. is grossly incompetent or they are running a scam or both. I have now contacted my credit card company protesting the charge. Perhaps your luck might be better, I will never mail order/phone order from them again. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

Ordered my firearm online which was easy. Went in today and provided the documentation requested via email. When I went to the counter, the employee said I needed a copy of a utility bill. I drove nearly an hour to get here so asked if I can email it to them to print the one page that they need. I've worked in retail so I always be sure to be extra courteous. The employee checked with Chad who is the manager and he said no. I explained my situation and asked if they cannot accept the digital copy I can simply email it to them to print. Chad again said no and said they will not do that (although another customer in line said they did that for him a few weeks prior). I asked to speak with Chad but he was not available to come and speak to me and was only relaying messages through his staff. As I walked out I went to the customer service window because I saw a few printers back there and asked if I can email them my utility bill to print. I even offered to pay $10 for a single page. The two associates said that wouldn't be an issue but were paged by Chad and told to refuse my request as we were speaking. I was beyond irritated but made sure to still be polite to the staff. I walked over to RC Willey and begged an associate to print the bill for me and they did it no problem. Overall, it seems like they pick and choose who to provide good and reasonable service to which is disappointing. read more

This place deserves a lower rating. They were not polite at all and a totally different experience than what we've had before with the Elk Grove location. The person at the front register had a very stern face and when my husband went over to ask him about returning and item, he simply refused to take the item back without a receipt. My husband explained that he had a membership with the store and bought it under his membership. The guy still said no. My husband understood and asked to walk around the store to look for a better item for him. My husband left the item at the register with the staff member and walked around the store. When we returned he had said that there was still a line still attached to the reel meaning he looked into the box even though the item STILL belonged to us. We felt very disrespected that he took a look into the item even after refusing to take it back. We will no longer be coming back because he made us feel like we shouldn't have shopped there because of our ethnicities. We will make the trip to the Elk Grove location from here on out. I suggest other do the same. They are much more helpful and welcoming there. read more

This is my go-to store for outdoor and fishing items. In the fishing department - which is for the most part empty of personnel- the sales people leave you alone to find your own stuff. Appreciate it a lot. They do have a weird dude there that looks like he's mostly high - but that's okay. I am from NY and have lived in SF - weirdos are part of the scenery. I just ignore and/or ask him impossible questions so his brain fries and retreats to his murky waters. Anywho, the store is great. Good inventory and some of the sales people have a good sense of common customer service and know what's what. Ignoring the weirdos asking dumb questions - strategize. Reply with equally dumb answers and things tend to balance out. Example. Went looking for a pair of hiking boots. One of the weird ones approaches and says: "what are you going to use them for?" ... I paused and said: " well, they're for walking. So I will use them to go for swims in the river" Dude was flummoxed. Went on with my business and got me a pair of ocean-river swimming hiking boots. Service is slim to none. But when I got someone to help they were knowledgeable and friendly. Because it is a sporting good store, it will get 3 stars, but their supplies are so low that it is almost impossible to find what you are looking for. Prices are pretty decent compared to other retailers. For instance, small rifle primers are $5.50 per 100 pack. Of which you are only allowed to buy 2 packs, which would have been great if they actually had any. read more

Two visits in a row (first to purchase, second to pick-up) just absolutely blew my mind at how rude, holier than thou, and unprofessional some folks can be and still somehow have a job. Fantastic customer service! Stopped in today to pickup a red dot and had a really positive customer service experience with the two young ladies that helped me at the gun counter. This location is leaps ahead of the Rancho location (which is staffed by bitter, lazy fudds). This company's return policy is ridiculous. I went to return a product I purchased the day before with my membership number and the tag. Because I didn't have the paper receipt they would only offer back store credit. What's the point of a membership number, credit card info and computers of you can't record proof of purchase from 24hrs ago? First and last time here, people shopping without masks on--elderly at that so you think they'd be more preventative and cautious in their age range. I just think that if you're setting rules for people to follow in your store then make it so for everyone. At least hand these people masks. Not even worth the one star. Some staff wore a mask, but not all. Most of the ones wearing a mask had it pulled down (so why even wear it?). The line to buy a firearm was a joke. The staff would help one person,then dissappear, then come back and talk to other employees then dissapear. At one point there were no employees present for close to 30 mins. Not a single one.
