I have eaten at J.J.'s for years. After Covid so many restaurants are still not recovering and the lack of waitstaff is frustrating. NOT AT J.J.s Grille...The food continues to be the reason we go there, not a single item on the menu is not home cooked and delicious. Fresh ingredients and healthy options as well as "sports bar" food. The wait staff is beyond AMAZING. They are professional, experienced staff who really love working there and serving the people. They are fun and cheerful and make the experience complete. Wayne is just the best and the women are SO GOOD,so friendly always knowing their patron's names..it is just a great place to eat! My wife and I mainly went on a Friday evening to hear a local band play. There was a cover charge to get in. The band set up is pretty good there and you dont get blown away by the music... or at least it didnt happen that night. The food is typical bar food and the beer selection list is ok. I've been to JJ's Grille about 4 times in the last 6 months..Never knew this hidden gem was only about 2 miles from my place! I have never had bad service whether sitting inside or out. The Tater Tots are so crispy and delicious, I could make a meal out of them! The Mozz sticks are amazing as well, nice batter and the cheese just stretches, it's not like you are biting into a heated/battered piece of string cheese like most places. Big entree portions of meat and sides! Meatloaf is always a winner, not dry, it's like grandma's meatloaf.. Pork platter, again-meat is juicy, slaw is perfect. The salmon is great for a little bar and grille and the Buffalo chicken wrap is out of this world. The fried pickles- delish! The one thing that has become a little but if a hassle is the Friday night music. My wife had 3 bad experiences with the food here, we said we were never going back, but some friends called and wanted to meet there on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered a "Club Melt". It tasted bad from first bite, but I was trying to make the best of it as to not offend my friends, who picked this place. After half the sandwich, I scraped the cheese and mayo off thinking that was the problem, but it was not, the rest of the sandwich tasted like it had some unrecognizable chemicals in it. I left it on my plate. This was my second trip and my LAST!. I am convinced that you have to be drunk to like the food in this hole. I think the cook must have a grudge against all the patrons here. This is the first time here and has a wonderful sports bar atmosphere. 5 TV's all with different events. Nikki was a great waitress...provided menu items to choose from that was the best and even mentioned one to stay away from. Her chose about the philly steak wrap was spot on. It had plenty of flavors and was filling...tator tots were great. My wife and son got the cheeseburger. While it had a great taste, it was a little dry. Been here a few times for dinner and most of the time it is good with good service. However, learned our lesson not to come when it's busy as the service was very poor. Waited 10 minutes just for a soft drink! Then ordered a refill and got water instead of the soft drink. Food came. Don't get the crab cake blt. When it came the crab cake was all mush as they had put it right on top of the mayo. It also seemed a bit undercooked. All the server said was it wasn't her fault but she would comp the meal. Of course by the time she came by I had eaten the French fries already and well didn't want to wait another long time for a replacement meal. I live very close by and have had good food here before but the difference was it wasn't busy. I'm not sure I'll come back again based on this experience. I've been to this restaurant/ sports bar about 10 times over the past 6 yrs... usually to see a band. I'm southsider so it takes almost 30 mins to get there, taking highways the whole way. It's small and a bit dark (no windows except where the band performs up front). The $7-$8 admission on band nights seems a bit steep, though I suppose they need to charge that much due to the limited number of seats. The crowd skews older most nights... 40's - 70's... most appear to be in their 50's & 60's. Some seats are padded, some are hard wood. If you get one of the non-padded seats, your butt will get a bit sore after an hour or so. The dance floor is very small ... only about 10-12 people can dance "comfortably" on it at a time, though it fills up to about 20 or so some Friday & Saturday nights, which means people have to just dance in place with nowhere to move their feet. Since the restaurant is small, if you're in one of the 20 seats surrounding the dance floor, you might want to bring ear plugs because the band amplifiers will be only a few feet away from you. (Most of JJ's seating is further off the dance floor.) They installed a large TV next to the band, so if you're seated off the dance floor, you can still see the band clearly in HD. Nice touch. They also show sports continuously on the 5 other TVs around the restaurant & bar. Service is quite good and the food "okay"... not bad, but not great. Some things are better than others. I'm an artichoke lover, but their few dishes that contain artichokes are bit disappointing... particularly the Shrimp Linguini ($!7). The small Caesar Salad that came with it was also uninspired and bland. However, the Crab Cake BLT Sandwich ($!2) is quite good. Their French Fries ($3) and Sweet Potato Fries ($3) aren't bad, but the best fried potato thing to get are the "Pub Chips"... which are homemade VERY THICK potato chips. They are served warm, right out of the fryer, and taste awesome. Cocktails are $4.50 for the rail variety, which isn't a bad deal. During Happy Hour (lasts until 7 pm) Domestic Beer is $2.40; House Wine is $4.00; And [non-juice] rail cocktails are $3.50. read more

My boyfriend and I have been going a few times a week for the past few months and it never disappoints. Nightly special- Tuesday= burger night and Wednesday = shrimp night. Other specials all other nights and live music Friday's and Saturday's. They also have trivia every Wednesday. The bartenders are super friendly and attentive. I usually go to JJ's Grille on Friday or Saturday evening. It's always busy. Service is exceptional. Bartenders are quick to serve and do a great job. Food is above average. The specials are usually good and I like the grilled turkey sandwich as a "go to" option. I always ask the staff for recommendations and they steer me in the right direction. They can cook burgers medium (yea!) when so many other places won't. Prices are moderate, and right in line with what they are serving. They have good local bands on the weekend and a lively, if somewhat older, crowd. The new owner seems very interested in customer experience and he's a nice guy to talk to when he's not running around. This is a nice little locals place. I think there is an active adult community behind it, and that is where most of their customers live, so that is cool.
