I've followed this brewery on social media for a few months and have noticed their pictures consistently feature pours with an inordinate amount (2-3") of head on them. As someone who absolutely hates foam, I asked up front for no head. The bartender winced and explained they had to pour that way or they'd get in trouble because the ownership "wants the aroma expressed." I was taken aback...not only by the total lack of regard for the customer but for levying that threat against an employee. I was waiting to meet someone somewhere else for dinner, and put aside my disdain and capitulated as I didn't want anyone getting in trouble over a beer. So, I figured I'd make the most of things out on the patio. Alas, you can't take glass out in the patio, only plastic cups. What?!? If this were a college bar on a Friday night, sure - pour into plastic. But happy hour in Midlothian? The bartender did say they could pour no foam for a plastic cup though, which I thought was funny - they're so precious about their beer the foam is mandatory, but yeah, just dump it in plastic for the patio. All in all, a negative experience and one I won't repeat. My advice is to give the customer what they want, don't threaten employees, and eat the cost of a few broken glasses. To be clear: I get the notion of aromas and such, but this isn't Russian River or Alchemist, or even The Veil (none of which have foam mandates). I could even understand if they were busy (I was the only one ordering), but I wouldn't have asked for a longer pour under those circumstances. The beers are average regionals and customer service and good treatment of employees are non-negotiables. I hope ownership sees this and chills out; the person who pays for the beer dictates the pour, not you.

Mekong Cafe in Richmond, VA, was an incredible dining experience! If you're looking for delicious…read moreVietnamese food with authentic flavors, this is definitely a place worth checking out. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff provided friendly service that made the visit even better. We started with the spring rolls, and they were fresh, light, and full of flavor. The vegetables, herbs, and fillings all tasted fresh, and the dipping sauce added the perfect balance of flavor. They were a great appetizer and a perfect way to start the meal. For my main dish, I ordered the pho, and it did not disappoint. The broth was absolutely amazing, rich, fragrant, and full of depth. It had the perfect balance of savory flavors and spices, making every spoonful comforting and satisfying. The noodles and toppings were prepared well, and the portion size was generous. You could really tell the pho was made with care and attention to detail. What stood out most was the quality of the flavors and how fresh everything tasted. Mekong Cafe captures the heart of Vietnamese cuisine with dishes that are comforting, flavorful, and made with great ingredients. The combination of great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere made this a five-star experience. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more dishes from their menu. Highly recommend Mekong Cafe to anyone in Richmond looking for amazing Vietnamese food!

Service was attentive, organized, and pretty quick for such a large party. Open layout with plenty of seating, so it felt comfortable even with a group our size. It's a Vietnamese spot, so if that's your vibe I could see it being a good place to check out. I normally order Pho , which was pretty decent, and also tried the dumplings. The dumplings weren't really my thing, but the menu is huge and has a-lot to choose from. Overall, based on this first experience, it's probably not a place I'd personally go out of my way to recommend, but if you enjoy Vietnamese food and are looking for a solid spot to grab a bite, it could be worth trying.

I absolutely adore the Cask Cafe!…read more ***LOCATION*** The Cask Cafe is located in The Fan. It's down Robinson St not far from Pizza & Beer of Richmond. There is free street parking around and it's not too hard to find. It's also close to the 5 bus. ***EXPERIENCE*** I don't come here often, but when I do I adore it. They have the absolute best sausages in town. If you're going to get anything, order the panini with kielbasa and your pick of melted cheese. It's heaven. If you're a beer person, you're in for a treat. They have so many types to pick from. There is outdoor and indoor seating. When the weather is nice, they open the windows and let a great breeze in. The people who work here are really cool and kind. If you can't do a cheese dish, order the Full Cask, that way you can try another incredible sausage and an assortment of goodies. ***PRICE*** They have great prices here. It's affordable and worth it for their beer and sausages. ***BATHROOM*** They have single mixed gendered bathrooms here. ***CONCLUSION*** If you're looking for good beer, good food, and a good time The Cask Cafe is a great place for you. It's super casual and a wonderful, cozy spot. I highly recommend checking it out.
