I had a really nice mix of both sour and sweet candies. I really enjoyed them. I received some of those soft candies and they were good but, not amazing. I am not a fan of black licorice. There were several types in my bag. That was the major negative about not being able to choose the candy myself. The quantity of candy was larger than I expected.. A yummy experience. I look forward to going to the store and choosing an experiencing with the entire selection.

I thought it was interesting that this place offered something I rarely see. The young man was very welcoming. He said the place has been here since 2005. He said the owners are elderly and not into the latest business trends like Yelp and Google. He put the business into social media including Yelp. He said he has been really cleaning up since he became the manager three months ago. He added that the carpet is going to be replaced and shelves put up on the walls to better organize the merchandise. He was proud of his addition of the pastries and fresh coffee. He made sure I took note of the tea they also serve. The back counter has his register and lotto tickets. He came out to talk to me and when another customer arrived he returned to the rear. It's a very small space that's uncomfortable with more than one customer at a time. I really had a good experience and I can't wait return for coffee and my next lottery ticket. I'm looking forward to seeing the improvements they plan to continue at this small business. The new manager is doing a great job.

The…read moretaproom area is spacious and rustic, like most tap rooms, and they seem to be kid-friendly, though most folks, of course, were of drinking age. Our small group was here after a long walk, and everyone was in the mood for a drink. In terms of food, they have some snacks, and there are food carts outside on certain days. Sunday's option was Mom's Momos right outside, but the cart was unfortunately out of most of their things, but this is not the brewery's fault. For my selection, I decided to get a few of the 5oz (or 5.5oz) sampler/tasters of two $4 beers, and eventually a third, instead of getting a 10oz pour, though the pricey Cuvée Barley Wine sounded interesting. The bartender, who appears to be the owner from the photos online, was friendly and gave good suggestions. My favorite of the bunch was from their rotating cask selection, which was a bit surprising as I tend to like sours and stronger beers. This was the Billy Neverwilly, a 5.6% APV English Pub Ale, or Bitter. As expected for the style, it was very pleasant, being malty with a little bit of bitterness. For the percentage, which is higher than the typical pub ale, it was surprisingly drinkable. If I got an $8.50 20oz pour, it would be very dangerous, as I could easily drink another few. More unique, but still tasty, was the Grätzer, a 4.0% Grodziskie, or smoked wheat ale, a style originally from Poland. Previous to this, the only smoked beer I ever had was the German Rauchbier, using smoked barley. The most well-known one is the original from Schlenkerla, and it is pitch black with an off amber head, very smoky, and very tasty, and you can find it at Karczma in Greenpoint. The color in this case looked like any typical wheat ale/witbier with white foam and had a very mild smoky smell. The flavor was interesting, with the initial sip tasting like your typical citrusy wheat ale, but with a smoky aftertaste. The last of the brews was the Guava Goggles, a 5.5% Sour Ale with Guava and Lime, which he recommended over the similarly named Berry Goggles. It was primarily sour, but had some mild sweetness from the guava and a bit of tang. Occasionally, I find guava a bit overpowering, but it worked here. This was again refreshing and easy to drink. I would go back here, and next time, I would probably go with the Infernal Optimism, a 6.7% Smoked Porter, which seems available frequently. I also wouldn't mind trying something else interesting, as everything was good, which is rare for the number of styles I tried. Nice rotating taps, nice staff, and a good, large space. It's hard to dislike this place.

We also ordered a small vegetable dish, pea shoots. We liked it being fresh and not greasy at all. The servers are nice and friendly, and the place is welcoming. We may come back to try other things if we happen to be in this area.

Brian said he would ship replacements but once I saw they were the individual ones and confirmed they were still fine to eat, I was happy, my sister was happy, all was well. But Brian wasn't having it, he was unhappy that UPS failed us both. Imagine my surprise when a few days later I received another box of the Lamington cakes! I was not expecting that. I was perfectly fine with the outcome but Brian again is an amazing person and he didn't appreciate that this was a representation of his bakery by UPS's failings. So now I have plenty of Lamington cakes and they are freezable so I put a few away so I can enjoy them later. As far as being true Lamington cake like the original in Australia, it took me right back to Adelaide where I had my very first one! Oh my goodness they're so good! And did I mention they're gluten-free?! I cannot thank Brian and Sans Bakery enough for making my Unbirthday amazing and tickling my palette enough that I sent pictures to my cousin in Melbourne Australia taunting her a little. The ordering process was simple and Marchessa is timely in giving her response. The cakes come in 8", 10" rounds with options for buttercream or fondant with a few charges for customized things like the bear in the photo. The pick up process was easy and smooth as well and our order was ready by the time we had agreed on. The cake was aesthetically beautiful! Gave Marchessa and photo as an inspiration for the cake design and her cake came out wow! The cake also survived being picked up on the morning of the 15th, a 3 hour drive with subpar air conditioning because my mini van could not blast enough cold air to possibly maintain the ideal cool temp for a cake and about another 24 hrs before we could cut and serve it because the kids were already so tired by the time we got to the resort and the kids had been swimming. When it was time to cut and taste the cake, everyone raved at how delicious the cake is! The cake itself was moist and tasty. The buttercream was the perfect sweetness and pairs perfectly with coffee! The 10" round served 16 people and that was just half the cake because the slice is big enough for 2 people to share! Then the cake pops! They were crafted and shaped meticulously and were delicious. The bear cake pops we ordered tasted like brownies! It was definitely love at first bite (and second, third, ... all the bites!). So when it came to planning for sweets for an event we were having, it was a no-brainer to hire Marchessa. What an excellent choice: this lovely and talented person did an excellent job of sending a major variety of all her exquisite treats, and in such a generous and quick manner! Her donuts, cupcakes, and beautiful cake were all a huge hit at our event and I'm now a forever client!
