However, once you walk in, you're escorted through a huge dining space and if you get the chance to dine outside, their patio is stunning. There are so many plants, it's very nice, and there's an outdoor cover over the tables. Service was good. My friend and I got their salmon and pappardelle. The salmon was amazing and the papperdalle was rich and creamy. A bit on the pricey side for the portion sizes, but I can tell that the quality of food was there. Such a classic Italian American restaurant in LIC. Went here for a friend's birthday dinner and was not disappointed! They gave the traditional Italian meal service consisting of antipasti (mozzarella with roasted red peppers, fried calamari, margarita pizza), primi (salad and penne alla vodka pasta), and secondi (choice of chicken parmagiana or branzino). My partner and I had some friends visit and they were craving for some italian food so we decided to visit for dinner a new place for all of us! And wow are we so glad we did. The restaurant is connected to a pizzeria and it is very much a hole in the wall. We ordered a few pastas for the table and I have to say, the Bucatini was AMAZING! " Paraphrasing this quote from the movie Gladiator I've probably done a few times and so many times in my head, but I feel it works especially well for Maducatis Rustica and its embodiment of the old school, before the "industrial revolution" LIC it represents*. That's not to say Manducatis Rustica is a relic. Far from it. It is still the beating heart of LIC. Besides all the romanticism, this place is solid all around - great food, attentive service and cozy atmosphere especially in their outdoor back patio. They serve a delicious Neapolitan style pizza that may not score high points with the "One Bite" crowd, but I find it delicious and the toppings generous on the truffle artichoke with burrata one we had. I wasn't expecting much from the Chicken Paisano dish I tried, but was blown away by the flavor and how absolutely melt in your mouth fantastic the chicken breast was. We finished it off we some delicious gelato and I couldn't have been happier with my experience here. Manducatis Rustica is so central to everything LIC after a great meal here I suggest taking a stroll down to waterfront to admire the best view in the city. I attended an 80th birthday party at Manducatis Rustica and was treated to the greatest food and service I have experienced in a long time. I am Italian and I cook a lot of Italian food. What I was served was perfectly prepared, piping hot, delicious food. From the thin crust pizza to the Neopolian Birthday cake and everything in between it was an exquisite dining experience. Came here for an late afternoon/early italian dinner and their backyard garden was absolutely lovely. I love that it was hidden inside the restaurant rather then the outdoor seating, which can be distracting with walkerbys and loud cars. The staff was wonderful and greeted us with warm smile. Then asked if we had any preference and of course I opted for outdoor. With a lovely fountain the garden just felt spa like and their decoration was stunning. I loved every bit of it. Once seated, they kindly handed us our menu. We ordered their truffle artichoke pizza and a chicken dish and both were delicious. The dough was chewy and soft. Overall, I enjoyed this place a lot and can't wait to check them out for brunch. They also allow dogs in their gardens sooooo yeah...heads up but to play it self, call first to double check. I've bookmarked this place, and I finally got to go. It was strange how this we reserved it online on the website, but it didn't show up at the restaurant. Oh, wells. However, it didn't take long to get seated, and we were offered the bar or a table on the other side of the place we walked into. There was a wedding taking place there but they were able to accommodate us. Food wise, everything was really good. The group got mussels, which was seasoned just right. The burrata and verde salad went well as appetizers, too. For my entree, I had ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese, and I tried a little bit of the Rigatoni and meatballs. Came for brunch in a Sunday to meet up with family. At noon we were the only ones there aside from a bar crown watching English premier league soccer. Staff was super friendly as they accommodated my two young nieces (2.5 and 3.5 years old). The place was decorated nicely for the holidays and had a very old school Italian vibe, very cozy. We had our daughter's baptism lunch at Manducatis Rustica and it exceeded our expectations in all ways. Gianna was an absolute joy to work with and plan with - her and the team made it so easy, with beautiful menus and a gorgeous set up. The garden was gorgeous and the perfect place for a small party. And, of course, the food was incredible! All of our guests have been talking nonstop about how delicious the lunch was. What a lovely little family spot; I was there this weekend for my cousin's baptism celebration of their daughter, the food was tasty and the staff was friendly. But I had to write a review because they were so accommodating; my son has autism and eats very little, I pulled the waitress aside, and I asked if there was anyway they could make him a grilled cheese, which was far from what they were serving us. My family from out of town came to NY so we had to bring them to our favorite restaurant Manducatis Rustica. The gnocchi were divine, fluffy little pillows of joy. The gelato never disappoints. I had the caramel biscotti this time, but hazelnut is also a favorite. The service was also excellent. The ambiance is very calm and service was great, fast but relaxed. We started with the mussels which were delicious especially with the toasted bread it comes with. Not only is the food reasonably priced and delicious, but the place has such a great neighborhood charm. I am rarely wowed by service in NY, but this place really went above and beyond to make our night special- from our wait staff who helped with recommendations, to the owner Gianna who helped us pick our wine. We ordered the watermelon salad (special), two pizza pies (parma and Margherita), and the chocolate Nutella cake and a cannoli for desert- everything was great, but the pizzas and cannoli were the stars!
