I remember when Cannelle started off in East Elmhurst as a bakery tucked away in a small shopping center. I'm glad to see that they had expanded to LIC since then my favorites here will always include their espresso cakes and gateau bretons. However, I decided to try something new the last time I stopped by this included a pistachio custard tart of some sort as well as the flan parisien. The former was absolutely delicious, with the pistachio custard, being fantastic and the shell of the tart being buttery and tasty. The flan parisien, however, paled in comparison. In addition to being so soggy, there was a weird apricot I believe jam on the bottom, which was offputting all in all, stick to the classics here but don't hesitate to try something that catches your eye. You might love it, but if not, you know not to try it again. read more

I've had many pastries from here over the years. I'm always blown away by them. The high quality and presentation are always consistent. Today I had two desserts and a sandwich. The sandwich had ham, pickle and cheese, the French baguette was crunchy with a nice balance with the other ingredients. The hazelnut chocolate pastry tasted like a rich chocolate that was smooth with touches of hazelnut. The layers of the cup were great to get so many different flavors in one bite. read more

The location is on a corner and walking into the store, what comes into view first is the counter with pastry displays and register. For pretty late in the day, I felt lucky there were still quite a few items left! Getting a cannelle was on my mind though these were sold out by the time I arrived, so a pain au chocolate $4.25 and an apple turnover $4.75 it was. For ease of transportation the staff member manning the cashier was able to provide an extra paper baggie for the croissant, though it's extra (I think $0.2?) for a larger bag with handles. Their quality is very consistent and delicious. Buttery, properly laminated and risen, I appreciated the dark chocolate in the pan au chocolate so it wasn't too sweet. this bakery has such a special place in my heart. we've been buying birthday cakes from this bakery for the past year and everything we got (the napoleon, chocolate mousse cake, black forest cake, espresso 31) was delicious! i think the standout is definitely the espresso 31 as it has so many different elements (almond chocolate cake, espresso creme brulee, chocolate mousse, and chocolate pearls). there are lots of different flavors and textures that worked well together. the cake is so good that i've requested it for my birthday again after having it for my last birthday. the rest of my family tried it this time and really liked it too. we've also gotten other goodies like the brownie, cheesecake (amazing), carrot cake, and a roasted chicken and sirarcha sandwich and they were all good! this place is such a gem and we will keep coming back for sure. read more

Delicious desserts. Had their croissants and palmier which were so yummy, flaky to perfection. Also go their sandwich with tuna but it was really hard bread. Tough to chew. A rich almond paste was encased between the golden pastry layers. Surprisingly, the sweetness level of their frangipane is the lowest (compared to Dominique Ansel and Frenchette). Also the mini ceramic they hid in the king's cake was so adorable. What a cute surprise. I enjoyed it both warm and at room temperature, but I do prefer having it reheated in oven before serving to gain back the crispiness. The L size costed only $30 with 8 servings. The most affordable galette des rois I've ever bought. It can be pre-ordered online 24 hours before the pick up date. I've passed Cannelle a couple of times when I walked through Long Island City to the waterfront. On a nice, warm, Sunday morning, I had the chance to check it out and order a morning coffee and a baguette sandwich. The coffee was good and the sandwich was great (salami and cheese with mustard). Would have liked it to be a bit more cooked. Again tasty and not-too-sweet, quality ingredients. Open until the evening, which is nice. The space is a welcoming minimal wood design. It might be possible to work or have meetings in there, but feel the traffic in and out, of the mostly rectangle space, might be distracting. Wouldn't mind trying some other sandwiches or quiche for lunch and just a plain croissant. Decent prices for this quality. About a 15-20 minute walk from the Courthouse Square subway, but worth it! Bought a vanilla panna cotta with passionfruit to go on a Monday night. Didn't end up eating it until maybe 2 days later, but it was still pretty good. The panna cotta itself wasn't too sweet, and there was a good vanilla flavor to it. It was very smooth and creamy. The passionfruit syrup on top was so good. It tasted fresh, the seeds provided a nice textural contrast, and the tartness complimented the panna cotta really well. The price for the panna cotta wasn't terrible either. $6.50 for the panna cotta in LIC, is pretty good pricing for the quality and taste of it. read more

Coco fraise is filled with strawberry and coconut mousse, it was delicious and spongy with perfect amount of sugar. Though I wish they added more of real strawberries than the mousse. I'm conflicted about the Praline, it was a heavenly first bite but you can immediately feel the sugar rush hitting you. Too sweet for my taste. Nice bakery to drop by but only if you are in the neighborhood. I don't really think it's a lot different than any other average French bakery near you. read more

So if you can, look at pics online and have a general idea of what you want before. The gelato is pretty good for the area, but not the best that I've had -- definitely pretty good enough. This bakery is amazing !! My mom got me a Coco-Fraise birthday cake from here - it's a Vanilla Sponge Cake with Strawberry & Coconut Mousse and Strawberry Syrup. I was so happy with what she bought. The cake was sooo delicious. It was very light and fluffy, wasn't overly sweetened, and tasted fresh ! The texture was also soft. I also happened to try their Oreo Cheesecake and Pear Tart pastries and both were really good. I was expecting to taste some Oreo inside of the cheesecake instead of only on the outside, but I still really enjoyed it. Prices were fair overall. I really liked that these desserts are not overly sweet, but they would still be really well paired with an Americano! Cannelle LIC is the 2nd location of the Jackson Heights' Cannelle Patisserie bakery. This location is easier to get to, located near Gantry Plaza and the 7 train. Nice clean location that isn't crowded. They offer delicious cakes and pastries just like the Jackson Heights location and also has gelato. Prices are higher here though. I tried their Midnight Passion dessert, which I believe is a new item as it is not listed on the website menu nor have I seen it at the other location. It was so decadent and delicious! The dessert is covered with chocolate syrup and the inside is so smooth and creamy with chocolate and passion fruit mousse (not sure if the terms are correct). It is topped with a piece of brownie and hard chocolate. This is my favorite dessert that they offer! Try this if you see it! read more

When I'm feeling like devouring their vegan sandwich, I always come here. I can't get enough of the fact that I'm eating all veggies and not missing meat at all! Cannelle also serves other delicious goodness from French pastries to other delicious baguettes. They make a variety of fresh bread too. As any cafe, they sell espresso drinks but the usual so I usually opt for coffee with my bread. It's a very "classic" pastry shop. Customer service is always quick and easy. Located just a few blocks from Gantry State Park, you can have your food by the park and sight see or in the shop, although they only have a limited amount of seating since it usually gets very busy from the locals. There's also a communal table by the entrance where you can sit and work since they do have wifi available. Accepts cash and card. Bathroom and wifi available. Bon appetit! read more
