Had breakfast here -- my parents live in the area and they recommended it. Service was fantastic, food came out quickly, and eggs were made exactly as we ordered them. Plenty of coffee refills. My father did say later that they used to have great home fries years ago, and now the ones they serve are nothing great. I hadn't noticed at the time, and real home fries are something I always look for -- it tells me they really care. True, the potatoes could've been better -- so they lose a star for cutting corners. Go back to the original style fries and I'll give another star. read more

So sad to say that this is the hotel I chose for my wedding block 2 weeks ago and was not given much of anything that was promised to us, though I made sure to ask all questions of what would be available/allowed before booking, well in advance. At the very least, we were told the bar would be open until midnight to accommodate our guests, many of whom were from out of town and were excited to stay on the beach. The bar closed much earlier than midnight, and on my wedding night, I was treated with more disrespect than I ever thought possible by Joann, the catering manager, as I was standing there in my wedding dress. We were truly a bother to her. The way myself and my guests were treated on my wedding weekend still makes me sad to think about. Once we were finally able to go on the back porch with our own cooler, the staff would not turn the lights on for us. They proceeded to tell us to "yelp away," belittling us with their terrible attitudes. I will say that Leigh Ann at the front desk was kind to us. STAY AWAY FROM THE SPRAY BEACH HOTEL. This hotel truly should be on bar rescue. The customer is NEVER right in their eyes. I would give zero stars if I could. Disgraceful. read more

Came to the NJ Shore for a wedding, bridal party reserved rooms for us here. This is your typical beach front hotel/motel. Rooms a bit musty smelling, needs updating, beds uncomfortable. Great location right on the beac. staff is friendly and the service at the bar and restaurant for breakfast were very good. For the price under $100 a night, it's a good value. read more

For our family, it has been a tradition for all of us to meet here for breakfast on the day we all arrive in LBI for our week of vacation. The service at the Spray Beach is always excellent, they are always so accommodating to our huge party and are very friendly every time we come. The location couldn't be better. We love sitting outside for breakfast and listening to the waves over the dunes. The name fits, since you do in fact get the spray from the ocean haha. The interior decor could use a facelift, but the outside area is very nice. They make a nice breakfast- the waffles and pancakes are good and the eggs are great also. I always get a good ol' stack of pancakes with fresh fruit and a side of bacon. Yum! Although not perfect, definitely a great and friendly place for breakfast on this part of the island. read more

The main spot is on the water which is nice. Make sure you check the fine print with this place. You will end up across the street and the rooms are very small. They are a bit out of the way for the activities of Beach Haven. The staff can be a bit rude which seems to me that a lot of people get burned by the small print. DON'T BOOK ONLINE and think you paid for the whole trip. You will be sorry when they charge you a few hundred more. Honestly you way way way better off renting a small house their are houses and condos that cost less then this place and if you more then two it is very uncomfortable in the small rooms. Campy little motor inn on the beachfront. Got a huge laugh out of the push button phone circa 1972 that was in the room. Has tiki bar and a restaurant. Great for families, but I would have preferred a place with our own balcony. It was a last minute trip, so I can't complain too much. Service great, room clean but really outdated. read more

I had loved coming here for years until I saw a manager (White, bald, overweight, middle aged man), kick a couple out simply because they had been buying drinks for 2 hours after they finished dinner. Apparently the manager asked the couple to move to the bar, to which the couple understandably responded with anger, as they had been paying good money for hours and tipping the live music generously. The manager's position would have been understandable, if as he said, there were others waiting to eat dinner. There were none. After two tables of women, including one who was visibly intoxicated and over served (though not kicked out) left, there were three open tables. Minutes later, the music ended and we left along with others, leaving many more open tables. Perhaps most egregious, is the fact that the manager loudly verbally accosted this couple in front of everyone, and then threw a drink/glass in anger. All in front of other paying customers. Not to mention no one gave any tips to the live music after this disturbing display. Never seen such an unprofessional situation at a restaurant. read more

The view is INCREDIBLE! The convenience to the beach is amazing. The room is outdated, especially for the price we paid. But the bigger issue we had was that we were told, by the hotel staff that was checking us in, to make sure we keep the beach pass "on you at all times" ~ which my husband clipped it onto his shorts. It was lost in the water :( When I went to speak to the staff at the desk, they said we would be charged a $50 fee. When I explained that we were doing what they instructed us to do, a RUDE man (I assume the manager) came over and said "that would never be said by our staff" and then walked away as if he couldn't be bothered by me ~ it was, even the woman there said she was the one that checked us in, and that she tells people to keep it on them at all times. She then claimed she didn't mean pinned on your person. For the price we paid, I didn't expect that level of rudeness. Also, just an fyi - the pool is a kids pool. it goes from 18 in to 4 feet max, and then goes back to 18 in on the other side. Great if you have little kids, disappointing otherwise. read more

This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had! This hotel completely over promised and WAY under-delivered to our large wedding party. Refusing to turn the lights on in the back room, and keep the bar open past 10:30 pm, on a Saturday. Not only did they not keep their word, they were rude, unprofessional, and belittled the bride on her big day. They went out of their way to make what was supposed to be a joyous occasion in to complete chaos. When we were checking out, they began to laugh and say " go ahead and yelp away." Completely disregarding the feelings of their customers. These people should not be in the hospitality industry, they are the exact opposite of hospitable. I've been coming to LBI in the summer for 35 years and just recently moved down here all year round. I've always wanted to try this place and finally got the chance today. I'm not sure what the bad reviews are about but I had the best grouper sandwich I've ever had on this island ever. I've never stayed in the hotel or eaten inside so I cannot comment on that but it did look a little dated on the inside. From the moment we walked through the door the service was below average. Waited five minutes for a hostess. Seated us at a table way too large. Waitress brought bread after dinner was served, food before we were done with appetizers, and even the 5 year old at our table mentioned how bad her attitude was. The food was just okay. I recently came back to the Spray Beach Inn for lunch. Unfortunately, my experience was not as positive as the last time. I ordered a salad and it was extremely salty. My kids ate a chicken sandwich and burger. Needless to say, neither finished their meals. Food is mediocre and bartender/ wait staff not that attentive. I stayed here with my brother and nephew for Labor Day weekend. Of course it was overpriced, as most of these motels are for the summer and holiday weekends for what you are getting. The property was not kept up well. The room was old and the bathroom had mold on the ceiling. We The "furniture" to sit outside of the room had broken chairs. We mentioned this upon check out and was told oh ok we will look into it. We went to the pool area, which was filled with kids, and people were smoking even though it was a nonsmoking area. They were as well in the hallways outside of the rooms. There was no staff around to enforce these rules and when we went to the front desk to complain they said they would look into it (again), which didn't happen. The restaurant was dissappointing as well. The food was not good and service (kitchen) wasn't either. We waited very long for it and came out at all different times. Had to send something back twice and still wasn't right. Needless to say next time I go to LBI I will be looking to stay at a different property. read more

This place has such incredible potential to be a GREAT bar, AAA beachfront location, a great part of Spray Beach in Beach Haven that has almost no competition and it's decorated beautifully, they just don't have any concept of customer service. We stopped in to meet friends for post beach drinks and to catch "Elvis" and WOW, our perfect beach day cocktail which we would have gladly paid the overpriced premium for was spoiled by a bar staff that didn't really seem to care about anyone at the bar. Never a "hello, I'll be with you in a minute", patrons leaving in disgust, and it's just unpleasant to hear a bartender complain about the musician, telling patrons, "he'll be done soon." I know tending bar is often hard work, but if you can't at the very least be pleasant. find another gig. We come here once a year hoping upon hope it's changed for the better, but it always disappoints being the same mess. Bring you own cocktails to the beach, or walk a mile along the beach to the "Shell." Disclaimer that this is for the Tiki Bar only, not the hotel. read more

We've been to LBI twice now and after staying here the first time, it was a no brainer to stay again for our second visit. No matter what building you stay in, you have easy access to the beach and tiki bar. I personally prefer to not stay in the main building, but the building across the street instead. Although you don't have a view of the beach, it's quieter and there's no noise at all! The staff at the front desk and bar are so friendly and accommodating, super easy to talk to! I can't imagine staying anywhere else. I can think of nothing negative to say about this wonderful place! read more

We love it here! This is our 30th year of coming! There is NO place you can go and be this close to the beach! The price is affordable, the food is fantastic, the staff is wonderful! We use to come here as kids now my husband and I are bringing our son here! Love the pool and hot tub are fantastic as well! Great long Island ice tea! Horrible experience! Front office couldn't figure out if they had rooms or not. Checked in 4 Th. July weekend. Was suppose to have 1 room for two nights and then move to another room for last night. Room was so musty and smelled so much of mildew my son and I felt sick immediately. Refrigerator was brown! Spoke to manager. Original attitude was take it or leave it because they had no other rooms. When i said I was going to move all of a sudden an ocean front room opened up for all 3 nights? Manager was rude. On third day we got a call that we had to move again to another room because our room was booked? Different manager same take it or leave it attitude. Never an apology for our inconvenience! Was here for work. Check in and check out was easy and fast. Had a room on 3rd (top) floor right next to elevator, with a view of a room across from me. Not very attractive. Room was clean and decent. Bathroom looks to be updated fairly recently, whereas the rest of the room looked dated to at least the 70s. Restaurant and bar weren't open yet for the season as of June 7th,8th. read more

I just got back from a great weekend getaway at Spray Beach Hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. The room was extremely clean. I stayed in the Annex which was a bit cheaper but still so nice! The beach is across the street and the hotel provides passes for your stay. The pool and hot tub were relaxing and decently sized. The hotel is in such a perfect location and near all the attractions/restaurants. I would definitely come back and recommend this hotel to anyone interested in visiting LBI. read more

Came out for a b-day dinner... good thing it wasn't the gift. Totally disappointing. The waitress definitely wanted to be somewhere else. We ordered drinks. When my scotch and water, arrived, it had fruit in it. That was a first. I explained that it was not my drink and waitress said yes it is, taste it. Told her it was a whiskey sour. She took it back to the bar and returned and said the bartender couldn't read the order. The food arrived and it was nothing spectacular, very average. The entertainment could have used some improvement as well. The keyboard player was very good and could definitely add something to the place if it was just him with a piano, would have been a nice background addition. The singer needs to rethink his plans. If you expect to stay in business in a seasonal location, Spray Beach you need to kick it up a notch and raise the bar, especially on your service and staff. Good Luck! read more

Recently went to the Spray for dinner over 4th of July weekend and it was a great experience. The food was above expectations - the tuna was perfect and the scallops were great. Service was very good also. Sat outside which was also great as they now have sturdier walls to the covering to limit the wind - on a very windy night. Overall a great experience. I am writing this about the bar and restaurant. Ive never stayed there, but I do listen to the people outside talk about how much they love it there, the outside bar is fantastic. its old school. You can actually tell the bartender how you like your drink, and he does it. order food, food is great. Gary the bartender is the nicest , best bartender I have ever encountered, I actually after dealing with him numerous times had to ask his name. He is always nice. he can be super busy, but he hears you, and makes your drink perfect, I never order a margarita or a tequila sunrise out, nobody makes it right. Gary does, I dont know how he does it, but I would follow this guy, love him. I stay on the island the whole summer, this is from going there many times over. read more

This place receives one star because I can not leave a zero . My wedding day was tainted by the staff of this "hotel". The ownership down to the bartenders DO NOT deserve to be in the service industry. The amount of lying and deceiving throughout our time dealing with them was nothing short of astounding. We were promised by OWNERSHIP that they would accommodate our large wedding party( we had over 30 rooms booked). These guarantees turned out to be a ploy to have us book there. As the big day drew near the management began to take away everything. The breakfast buffet in the morning was denied because they did over "200" meals the prior year on mothers day weekend. At 11 o'clock I walked into the area where the brunch was being held, there were 8 people....8 . The bar was to remain open when we returned from the wedding at 11 oclock pm and we were even willing to pay for a bartender to remain on site just to provide something for our guests,we were denied in the lobby. Our wedding party was left in a back room ( a room in which the roof was leaking in multiple areas) IN THE DARK drinking our own beverages and eating our own food, trying to make the best of terrible position we were put in by the staff. Management refused to turn the lights on for us, making us feel as if we should feel lucky to be in the room at all. When we began to voice our frustration a bartender responded with "Yelp away", this was the last straw. I will never stay nor recommend this hotel to anyone I know. A inability to meet the most simple of requests leaves me with the feeling that this place does not deserve our hard earned money. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

I had my wedding on the beach this past weekend, and my reception catered by David. He and the staff did a phenomenal job. The food was delicious, the waiters and waitresses were pleasant and courteous and gave us anything that we asked for. Every one of my guests commented on what a wonderful experience they had at the hotel and how perfect everything was. Thanks again David and company for making our day so special. read more

My wife and I decided to take a last minute one day trip down to LBI and, based on the reviews and availability, we decided to stay at the Spray Beach Inn. When I called, I learned that the only rooms available were Oceanfront, which are a bit more than pool side. Luckily, we were able to secure a room on the 3rd floor, so we were able to view the ocean. Room: Nothing particularly special about the room. It had two double beds, table with two chairs, flat screen TV, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, AC unit and ceiling fan. For just the two of us, it was sized nicely. However, if we had kids or were with another couple, it would be a bit tight. The actual bathroom was a bit small (with just the shower and toilet), but the sink and counter were in your actual room, so it makes it easier when taking showers/getting ready if someone takes their time in the shower. While the furniture/decor is a bit outdated, the room seemed quite clean. As mentioned before, we were on the 3rd floor all the way at the end of the hotel (Room 312). The view was awesome to see the ocean as well as be away from street/pool noise. For some reason, I expected we would have our own balcony to view the ocean from. However, outside the door is just the walkway to get downstairs. It can be a bit tight if the hotel staff is cleaning rooms or people leave items outside their door. Pool/Hot Tub: While we didn't use the pool or hot tub, there was a decent crowd in there and it looked clean. However, there are a lot of kids in there and it can get loud, so if you're looking for peace and quiet either by the pool or in your room nearby, you may want to look elsewhere. There is a shallow end (about 1 ft deep) so the little ones could get wet. However, not that there is no lifeguard (or none that I noticed), so you need to be mindful when swimming. Make sure to bring your own beach towels, as they do not provide. Front Desk: I spoke to two different women when checking in and out. Both were pleasant and we even were able to check in an hour early. That may not always been an options during the high season, so may not always be something to expect. They also provide beach badges for you and your guests (you must provide a deposit). Location: Location is everything. Having a pregnant wife, it was nice to know we didn't have to walk far to take advantage of relaxing on the beach for a few hours. Other than the guests, the Inn is not located on the main road, so traffic noise is not a concern and well far away from any nightlife noise. Misc: After hitting up the area and a bar, we came back around 10:30 and the hotel was pretty quiet. We did not take advantage of their restaurant or bar, choosing to eat in town. Overall, this was a decent choice. I'm not sure if we'll be back as I would still look at other hotels that were, unfortunately, all booked when I had looked around. But this isn't a bad place to stay if we needed a place to stay. read more

Paper thin walls, the most uncomfortable bed anywhere, I can hear every conversation in the rooms around us, its 1:30AM and there is a party going on below us and the management will not do anything. Be careful where they place you, they stuck us in a room across the road Rooms are somewhat clean, had to ask for toilet paper, TV from the 1980s. Paper thin walls, can tell when toilets flush next to or below us, For a frat party this may be the place, for a family with kids stay away! read more

Stay someplace else!!! My husband and I booked at Spray Beach because they don't have a three night minimum stay requirement on the weekends. We booked the jacuzzi room, because we wanted a nice room and the one pictured on the website looked great. The room was $350 a night - very expensive, but we figured it would be worth it if the room was nice. Well, the room was awful!!!!! There was mold on the walls and on the paintings. The jacuzzi was 4 inches away from the bed. The beds were soft and uncomfortable. The pillows had an odor. There was water damage on the furniture. Crumbs and dirt were under the bed. My husband found a colony of dead bugs (bed bugs????) behind the plastic corner guards on the walls. When we took pictures and informed management, they eventually offered $150 dollar credit - not enough. Stay away.... read more

Since there are 2 building the Inn & the hotel, this review is for the oceanfront Inn. 1st thing you should know as the Web page shows there is a bar / restaurant on the oceanside so be prepared for live music til at least 930pm. It can be loud and you will hear that loud drunk at the bar.... this past Memorial Day was "Tyler with an awful cough". Anywho, rooms were decent, mattresses were horrible, ugh, institution quality. Window wouldn't open because it was broken on the track. We just left the door open since we were on the 3rd floor and the foot traffic past our room was minimum. Room cleaners did a great job. Views were gorgeous and wish we would have ate at the restaurant sooner then the last day because the food was very good, not the best plating but quality was there. Staff was nice even when I asked if there were any rooms available away from the bar area since I had 2 young kids and the noise was a bit much at first. Overall, it was a good deal with the package price we paid but not sure I'd pay the full season price and feel the same. read more
