She explains everything in depth and provides all options available. Ryan and Jeremy are the best Veterinarian Technicians around! I have two shepherds that they both come out to great and love on. Most importantly my dogs love Dr. G, Ryan and Jeremy! The front desk girls are very friendly and accommodating to you and your pets needs. My nonverbal adult autistic son and I had to take Jill to the vet yesterday morning -last notice. Dr. Amy Redeker is a fabulous Veterinarian- not to mention very accommodating to my son's autism listening to Thomas the Tank Engine pretty loudly. My little Jill would cry in pain once in an awhile. I had thought it was her teeth. Little Jill's teeth are fine- it's her neck/ shoulder area that is tender from acting like a flying reindeer all over my yard last few days. Dr Redeker is such a kind and gentle veterinarian. She stayed and talked to Jill to calm her down. Then even gave Jill a cookie! Sent us on our way with medicine and she is feeling better at a reasonable fee. read more

This was my second experience with this clinic. The first visit went well. I had no issues with the staff, and they had no issues with my dog. Unfortunately, my second visit was very different. We came in for a rabies shot and a general checkup. The check-in went smoothly. but things changed when the assistant, John, took my dog to the back. My dog is anxious and needs patience, but John pulled him instead of guiding him calmly to the back. and when John brought my dog back, he was muzzled, and I was told he was aggressive and uncooperative--something I've never experienced with him at any vet nor the first visit. During the exam, my dog became nervous on the table, and John handled him roughly, pushing my dog into the back board of the table. speaking harshly instead of reassuring him. When I expressed that I was uncomfortable with John handling my dog, John became angry and defensive and took no accountability, which felt unprofessional and upsetting. The doctor even apologized for the terrible experience, and the rest of the staff was kind. Even during check out he refused to take accountability. I've never written a review before, but after my horrible experience with John, I had to. he should not be in veterinary if he has no compassion for animals. read more

We've been bringing our pets here for 30 years. EVERYONE is so kind and loving, and treat our animals as if they were their own. I currently have a few very senior animals and the care they receive is amazing. From surgeries to check ups, everything is always outstanding. The cost is affordable and a lot lower than other vets (I was quoted over $7k for a dog surgery at a hospital, Springhill did the surgery for just over $1k!) I called to ask about pricing to get my poor dog who's been in pain for two weeks euthanized and the receptionist shamed me and made feel horrible for thinking about it. We've done everything we can for him but he's suffering. I feel so hurt and judged, this is the last thing I want to do and to be treated this way is heartbreaking. I brought my dog in after I suspected a infection after his rabies shot. like any other dog he hates the vet so he was terrified. My dog spent 5 nights in an intensive Care Unit and we spent an incredible amount of money but we finally have her home. Please take your pet elsewhere. Spring Hill Veterinary Clinic does not even understand the basics in veterinary care. Their incompetence and misdiagnosis had put my dog in the emergency room fighting for her life. The ER said this should have never have happened and it could have been prevented if Spring Hill had done a simple blood test. It's just standard practice. I am someone who believes the only reason why Yelp exists is so the public can get an honest opinion of experience. This Veterinary industry has become INFECTED with Dr's / owners who are heartless business owners who don't give back enough to the community or the shelters who are rescuing animals locally. In my opinion, It's important to give back to the community that you take from. This was not my experience with this place. They gave back. If you're someone who wants to see some sparkle when you walk into a vet...trust me...judge the Dr and the staff. NOT the building! If you are from the area you understand there is a lot of growing pains going on here. Spring Hill Vet worked with the adoption agency where I adopted my cat and they saved his life when I thought I had no choice but to let him go. I have had adopted 5 dogs, 7 cats, 2 birds. All lived 10 to 15 years I've dealt with many Veterinarians in the NW burbs. If I give them five stars I promise you they are worth it. I don't have kids......I have lil souls that accompany me throughout my life. Spring Hill Vet, REALLY helped me out in a very difficult time in where I'm telling you....Not many vets would do this unless they were invested in the neighborhood, local shelters like "A heart for animals" great adoption agency or all the animals that exist locally here that need our daily attention. A business like that defines what kinda neighborhood we are all living in!! As far as some of the other reviews....I feeeeel you. I have been that crazy person in the vet that demanded better service whilst everyone looked at me like a crazy person. Do it! The owner will become your friend and thank you. We went to this vet for years and it is not what it used to be. All they are focused on is make as much money as possible and that is it sad to me how much this vet has gone down the drain! We had 2 dogs that went to this vet and when my one dog was dying they weren't there and said the soonest that they could get us in was an appointment 5-6 days from that day I called. The staff is also very rude every time you call which I am sorry if you hate your job or you don't like dealing with people.... Maybe you should choose a different profession! We took our dog Coke (brother named Pepsi) to Springhill Veterinary Clinic last week. We adopted Coke from an Aussie Rescue Organization about 7 years ago when he was 2 or 3. He had been very abused before he was rescued, so he was very anxious and frightened of many things and situations. He has improved a lot, but is still very scared in several situations, on being riding in the car, and another being entering strange places. He was very anxious when we brought him in, but the people at Springhill were so king and calming. We brought Coke in because he'd been acting pretty sluggish and not at all himself. We had Dr Rettinick (? sorry) and she was wonderful with Coke and with us. She was very thorough and did some tests for Senior dogs. The next day, she called and told us Coke's tests were good, but he was just a little dehydrated. She said we'd keep an eye on that. This place is really good. I know we will take Coke to Springhill Veterinary Clinic for years to come! read more

Dr.Redeker and her team saved our bunny!!! \(^0^)/ My bunny did not eat, drink and also he did not defecate. Dr.Redeker saw our bunny, and she checked him. She checked his mouth and teeth. Her staff held my bunny, and Dr. opened his mouth and put a tool in his mouth to keep his mouth open. She cut his sharped teeth. Her way to cut his teeth was so fast. They took care of our bunny gently and kindly. My bunny got medicine and food for his intestines. Two days after, my bunny defecated, which made us happy (^0^), and after three days, he completely recovered. \(^0^)/ I was happy that I could see how the doctor and her team opened my bunny's mouth. Showing their way to take care of our pet in front of the owner makes us feel trustworthy！！！ Of course, Dr. Redeker's explanation about her treatment was easy to understand.！！！ Thank you so much for your great help to our irreplaceable bunny. read more

They repaired my Labs torn ACL and went above and beyond to care for him. The staff is so nice. The phones get busy so bear with them especially now during the pandemic. They are worth it. Their prices are fair for the care they offer and they treat your pet like a child with lots of compassion for the animal and its human. I came here for the first time yesterday with my turtle, whom I was worried about. I heard about this vet clinic through the Internet and I was extremely impressed. First of all I was pleasantly surprised that they service exotic animals! Some other veterinary clinics have exotic veterinarians but are only in on certain days of the week or are few and far between. Secondly, I was very impressed with the staff, they really made me feel like I was part of the family. I found out that Dr. Redecker is the primary vet and his daughter is also a vet and his son is a vet tech. They were all very warm and welcoming. I will definitely be back! read more

I made my first puppy purchase last summer and we were advised to take her here, Spring Hill Veterinary Clinic, by the people that sold me my puppy. It was not easy to spot this building as you would have to turn into it right after a light. You would literally have one car space from the light and traffic wasn't nice either. When I was walking in, I noticed that there were animal feces left and right on the pathway leading into the building as well as on the lawn surrounding the pathway. Upon entering the Clinic, I noticed that everything within the office was very rundown and "old". I wouldn't trust any doctor using those tools on me, that's for sure. As I'm sitting in the waiting, the receptionist was horrible. She was sitting there eating some chips and tell me to "hold on, I'll be right with you" but clearly, she's not busy with work. She finally gets me when the Doc was ready to see me and I walk in to see a Vet Tech instead. She seemed as if she was just right out of college...(possibly high school)...and just grabs my pup and "hugs" her. Then she tells me the doctor he will be right in. I found out that the Doc and his daughter owns the Clinic and the daughter was out on maternity leave...so it was just him, ALONE. I waited for about 25 minutes until he approached the room. He then uses his old school tools in performing basic check-ups on the pup. His assistant was a sight for sore eyes. The assistant had some big sores on his face that made me not want to look at him. (i'm sad, i know but you would have said the same!) He does wan he needed to do and that was it. He didn't explain anything else to me nor were the tools he used on the pup even seem sanitary. WHen I'm at the DOctor's office, doesn't matter if it's for me or my pet(s), but I would like to know what's going on. I don't think anyone likes to pay medical bills if they don't understand where their money is going, wouldn't you agree? My family has gone to this vet for years and I recently set up my own dog to be a patient here and we have been billed and given many medicines that never seem to help, but they sure will tell me that the issues I go in are not the real issue. Instead they try to force other operations and set up appointments for things I never originally came in. We are gonna change vets, we felt no one took their time diagnosing our dog, we paid for urine analysis we didn't even get results, we were told we had an appointment 2 weeks after indigos last visit and u guys didn't call or answer when we pulled up. I was referred to Spring Hill Veterinary Clinic by my usual vet, Algonquin Animal Clinic, when my bird had a bad injury and the vet was caring for an animal in emergency surgery and couldn't see my bird. After examining my bird, Dr. Redeker determined that he couldn't do anything for her and that "it didn't look good." He had his staff call around to 24 hour vet practices that specialize in birds to see if anyone could see my bird ASAP. They were able to get us in at a 24 hour bird E/R in Elmwood Park. I was expecting a bill, and they told me there was no charge because they couldn't do anything and had to refer me elsewhere for care. I thought this was fantastic, and I really appreciated the care and courtesy shown to me (and my bird) by Dr. Redeker and his wonderful, caring staff. read more

Dr. Redeker & his staff are top notch! When my cat Kizmet was diagnosed last year with Kidney failure I knew we were in the best hands! No need to refer me out to "Specialty" clinic. They do all her labs & testing right on site. I have the results & plan of action before we leave. Dr. Redeker is extremely through & always takes the time to talk with his clients. Kizmet can be a bit cranky & HATES getting her blood draw but the staff is extra patient & cautious with her. They are a very knowledgeable & compassionate clinic. They are state of the art but still have the family practice atmosphere. read more

Horrendous service and treatment of my pet. Only a handful of the workers there are friendly people, the rest are not. This place has given my dog multiple unpleasant and traumatizing experiences; just from getting checkups done. The treatment of my anxious dog was very unprofessional here, and was actually abusive. I had such a wonderful experience here today! Everyone was super friendly and super loving to all the animals that were there for their visits. I appreciated the way they treated and handled my cat Boo with tender love and care. They were super informative, more so than any other veterinarian office I have been to. I have used this vet for the past 10 or so years. I would not go to any other (which I have before because of where I was located) vet for my beloved pets. The office staff are always very friendly with both my dog/cat and myself. They remember my animals by name and always comment on them and ask how they are, etc. The Dr. is so professional and genuinely cares for the pets, as you can tell by his expansive knowledge and information he gives you in regards to your pet. He also does house calls for when we had to put an old dog down due to a tumor on her leg. I have also used his son's services for house sitting my dog/cat and he is very professional and flexible to watch my animals. I wouldn't trust anyone else when I have to leave them. In all these 20 years that I have taken my pets in for medical attention, treatment, or yearly exams, Dr. Poynor and staff are amazing and have ALWAYS gone "over and beyond" when they have been accommodating to me and attentive to my pets. Dr. Poynor has always taken her time to answer all of my questions to my satisfaction. She has never given me the impression that she's in a hurry or wants to be somewhere else during my visit. Even after my dogs' appts., she always stays for 2 mins to talk. She obviously cares. In all of these years, I have NOT ONCE had an issue with any of them. They are trustworthy, reliable, and efficient in what they do. Not only are they cheerful and encouraging, ANYONE can tell that they are there because of their love for animals. And they deliver: Whenever a dog has had a problem, Dr. Poynor and staff would get the job done.......whatever the issue. This is a stellar place. There's no one here who's shady or just trying to take your money or who doesn't know what she's doing. I used to live in Spring Hill but then moved to Brentwood. I drive miles and miles to come here because I know that my animals will receive the BEST attention. As a result, I leave with happy pets. My doggie goes here....my last dog went there as well, but unfortunately she had to be put to sleep (Lymphoma). They sent a condolence card which I still have, so sweet of them! Every now and again I have to wait, but that happens at any vet. Just don't schedule on a Friday, especially before a holiday. I waited an hour the Friday before Christmas last year, Was not amusing at all, especially with a packed house. Usually though I can get seen within a few minutes of checking in. They are kind, thorough and professional. They are a bit more expensive but they are convenient to me, and always make me and my Jessie feel at home. read more

Spring Hill Vet is a very good clinic. We took our dog there for many years. He was a Great Pyrenees/Alaskan Malamute, so he was over 100lbs. He lived to be over 13 years, well past his life expectancy! When he had to go, the staff was caring and understanding of the situation and gave us time to say good-bye to our family member. I cannot believe the stupid review given by "Mai T." My family, as well as many others, have been here multiple times over the years. The ONE time we saw feces on the walkway outside, a clinic staff member was in the process of picking it up. The Dr. and his staff are completely professional, as well as very knowledgeable and caring. They spend as much time as you need for them to answer all of your questions. They will even take care of injured and sick wildlife that you bring in, for NO CHARGE. The building and office are not at all "run down and old" but were attractive, modern, well maintained, and not at all difficult to drive into from the traffic, as "Mai T" claimed. Their receptionists are usually busy, but don't leave you waiting for long at all. Mai T. seems disturbed that it is owned by the vet and his daughter, who was out on maternity leave, so that he was ALONE (not)! God forbid, how dare his pregnant daughter leave!!! Better family owned, than some cold, uncaring chain. Mai T. says her puppy was examined with the vet's "old school tools." What the hell is she talking about? What kind of tools are necessary to look over a new puppy? How does she even know what kind of tools a vet uses? Also, neither the tools nor the examining rooms are unsanitary. Extremely rude customer service . I booked my dog and cats appointment with a nurse for 11.30 and when I get there at 11.30 . This old lady with brown hair looks up and down at me and asks if I need something . I was thinking to myself I have a dog and a cat and I'm at a veterinary clinic ...what could I possibly want . I tell her I have a appointment and she says "oh are you the one with two animals at 11? "Your appointment has passed and then I tell her a nurse already booked my appointment at 11.30 . She then tells me " Oh well your five minutes late , there's no point now" . I'm like seriously ? That didn't even make any sense ! I am furious at this point and I leave . I wait till Monday to call the owner "Dr. Carter " . I explain to the nurse on the phone why I'm calling , she brings I'm Dr.Carter. He tells me " I don't want to work with you . Bye" . I can't believe a Doctor reacted this way ! Before knowing the customers side he acts in such a rude way . I can't believe what I went through . Please anyone do not go to this place ! We just got our rescue pet and this place was on the list to go to to get our free exam. So I figured we'd go and this would be our new vet. Nice and close to home! I didn't mind that it wasn't state of the art, it had a old-town rustic feel. I showed up 10 minutes early because I knew I would probably have to fill out forms. Any one else find it strange that a vets office not only asks for all my personal info, work etc. drivers license number but bank and checking account number??? If they have such a problem with people paying, only accept cash or credit. I don't know, I found this off putting and didn't give them that info. Long story short I waited 20 minutes after my appointment time. Went up to the counter to find out how much longer, waited another 5 minutes for her to acknowledge me at all and when that didn't happen, I just left. Funny thing is the receptionist and vet assistant watched me walk out and still never acknowledged me. I guess they don't need new business. They called me twice to remind me of my appointment and tell me they will only accept cash (I thought this was a free exam) and then never had the courtesy to call me to tell me they were running at least 25 minutes behind. read more

I have used Spring Hill Vet for about 10 years now, for my 2 dogs and 3 cats. They are very professional and knowlegible. I trust them, and when I have a question, they listen and answer thoughtfully. They will be my small animal vet for as long as I live in this area. As for Mai T's complaint about feces on the sidewalk, I believe it says more about the owner who did not clean up after their animal than it does about the clinic. Extremely overpriced and always wanted to conduct a ton of tests on my dog, which my new vet says may not have been even necessary. When my old vet looked at my dog's file he even questioned why one test was done! He ordered it! My bills were always $100 plus, and since my switch I have already saved hundreds of dollars! read more
