Cute, charming, local feel, great service I've been here for breakfast several times, and really like it -- it has a great local vibe, very down-to-earth. It has an expansive menu (coffee shop / diner), and they're very accomodating to substitutions. The prices are fair and portions are large. This is nothing fancy, for sure. It's a nice coffee shop. Just ate here for 2nd time yesterday morning. I had one of the specials: 2 Pancakes, 2 eggs, one sausage, one bacon and hash browns for $5.99, it was delicious My husband had another special with kielbasa, eggs, hash browns and toast for $6.99, also delicious. My husband said it is now one of his favorite restaurants. Told an elderly neighbor (whose 87) about it. So disappointed, for the past few years I order the Rueban sandwich that's always been very good. Paid $12 for a sandwich full of fat and the bottom bread was soaking wet (don't know from steam?) This is by far the best place for kids in the high desert. Every weekend you can find many grandparents with their grandchildren in here. A lot of older people come here during the week and have breakfast while they read the paper. The reason kids love this place is because they have trains along the entire restaurant. I didn't get pictures because I didn't think about it when I was eating. The trains run around the room and go through little tunnels to come back. They have a few different sizes. My sons just watch the trains as they wait for their food when grandpa takes them here for breakfast. They prefer to go with him because it's their special thing to do. The food is good. The employees are friendly and the service is fast. The prices are pretty good. read more

Hesperia actually has a lot of great breakfast spots, but this one is just okay. It gets very crowded on the weekends and there is often a long wait. The food is pretty average, but not cheap enough to qualify as true diner food. But it's charming, and the train running around the entire restaurant is pretty cool. read more

However, within the last year, it seems as though this place has lost its touch. Waitresses would give us the wrong drinks and the wait for our food lengthened with every visit. I have been to this restaurant several times over the years, always for breakfast. The food has always tasted good and is reasonably priced. ($5.99 for 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a big fluffy biscuit - salsa too, which was very fresh and flavorful) What I want to comment on today is the service. I came alone on a weekday morning and was warmly greeted by the server. I asked about a newspaper and was given the local paper to read. While eating, I enjoyed watching the "locals" come in and be greeted by name. There were a couple of booths with older gentlemen enjoying their time together, and when a gentleman came in and sat at the counter, the cook called out, "Hello! How have you been?" Throughout my meal, the server was attentive and friendly. So while the food was good, it was the staff that especially made this a positive experience. :) read more

A good enough place for breakfast of lunch. It gets the job done. It's a nice little independent diner of the Denny's variety. It's got sort of a small town feel to it. The Monte Cristo was a major disappointment. We went there looking for Monte Cristo. We found it on the menu. We didn't find it on the plate. It had some of the ingredients but was prepared like just another sandwich. Very thin batter cooked on the grill. No jam or confectioners sugar in sight. The place sits tucked up by a viaduct on a very busy street. The driving maneuvers required to get into the parking lot where not rewarded when we sat down to eat. If you happen to be within walking distance and just want an average meal at a place with a train running on tracks on the wall, give it a try. But don't put any great effort into getting to this place. There are plenty of better choices nearby. read more

We stopped in one day because we were tired of eating at the same boring restaurants in Victorville. We were hesitant at first, but when we entered, we were greeted with a huge smile and welcome. Let me tell you...the food is delicious! I have a habit of judging restaurants on how good their ranch dressing is. This place has THE best ranch. Mmmm. I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and every plate that I've ordered has been delicious. The portions are huge and the prices are more than reasonable. The other half and I had lunch and it came out to under $13. When we took the kids, we paid just under $26 for the four of us. I can't say enough great things about this place.
