I took my aunt to visit her daughter in Hesperia, California. Twice (once for lunch and once for breakfast) we stopped in to the Spring House Restaurant and couldn't be happier with the food and the service! Cheery, positive waitresses and great food with generous portions. Not just the usual ham & eggs, sausage & eggs, bacon & eggs. They also had corned beef hash & eggs, kielbasa & eggs, as well as Italian sausage & eggs. I had kielbasa & eggs and all of the combos came with hash browns or home potatoes, toast or pancakes. My aunt had a spinach omelette with a side of sliced tomato and my cousin had a (large!) fruit bowl. We all had scrumptious coffee and the waitress was very good about keeping the coffee cups filled. The really cute thing about this restaurant is the train system going around on a track up on the walls of the entire inside of the restaurant. Really cute setup, and a must-visit for any railroad fan or children. Behind the trains running is a background of Hesperia city history painted on the wall to make it look like the train is passing through. read more

Took my family in here to eat this evening, I ordered a sandwich with potato salad - the potato salad was spoiled, the waitress returned it to the kitchen where she said she tried some and yes in deed it was spoiled - they offered me something else which I refused so credited me for my drink. Have had issues with hot food being cold one other time and just thought they were having a bad day - but after very spoiled potato salad we will not be coming back - ever! Please beware! read more

We came in at 12:00 on a Monday. There where 2 servers that took forever to take our drinks and order. They didn't even come to ask if we needed anything. We did not get a refill until we asked for our check they only refilled the coffee and not the other drinks. Our food sat for a good 15 minutes before it was served. I know this because we sat in front of the "chefs corner." Apparently they where waiting for our appetizer to be ready before serving our actual meal. By the time we got our food the butter on top would not melt; everything was cold except the fried zucchini on the appetizer. If you like extra oily hash browns with no salt, this is your place. We didn't even try the bacon. The egg was good. The pancakes where good. The French toast tasted like egg and bread. I don't recommend them. The appetizer was the best part. My kids liked the fries, they didn't eat them all but they poked at them. The mozzarella sticks where ok, they where not hot at all. Had they actually been heated correctly they would have been great. The zucchini was the only food item that was served hot. The chicken strips were good and also cold. Overall I would not recommend this place. We pay the same amount for delicious hot food at Ihop. read more

We have driven past this little cafe many times, its kind of tucked in a corner off a busy road, it was worth the u turn to get to it. We ended up being very happy we stopped by to have our lunch. Maria was super friendly and helpful in choosing our companions diet restricted lunch items. The portions were perfect- even needed a to go bag for some of it. The quality of the food shows when it still tastes good the next day. When we inquired about the train tracks displayed around the ceiling they started up the train for us, whistle blowing and everything ,it gave it the feel and charm of an old time cafe. There are alot of items on the menu here which is a real red flag for me. I figured I was safe with a cheeseburger and vanilla shake. Boy was I wrong. The shake was ok but the burger was dreadful. It was dry, grey and inedible around the edges. I should have realized when the waitress did not ask me how I would like my burger cooked. A restaurant with this "homestyle" theme should be using fresh ground beef cooked to order. read more

My friend and I went here for lunch the other day. We were in Hesperia to check on her horse, and the trainer suggested this restaurant for lunch. We had my five year old son with us as well. I ordered the Monte Cristo special and she had the sliced beef. We enjoyed the trains and our food arrived quickly. WOW! My sandwich was fantastic, and the portion was huge. Parking for the disabled is located close to the entrance, however, there is a sign on the door " "not to use that entrance". Ordered the Blt with avocado and coleslaw. The blt was amazing, nicely put together with even amounts of everything. The coleslaw was rancid, very yellow and soggy. The waitresses were very friendly and on top of it. Not as fun and exciting as it used to be to come here. read more

I have gone there for the past many many years and it was OK the Waitresses were always the most friendliest but wow the improvement with the quality and quantity of the food was amazing this morning with breakfast. We've lived in Phelan over 30 years and never been to Spring House until today! We both noticed right away how clean, bright, and comfortable it was. We went for a late breakfast and the food was delicious! The biscuits and gravy were especially good. Prices are quite reasonable too - lower than usual for breakfast and dinner options and prices looked good too. The atmosphere was just so nice though - the tables are super-clean, the staff cheerful and friendly, nice decor (we liked the model train) and the outside is even clean, trimmed, and raked. I've never been there for anything other than breakfast, but they do have one of the best breakfast menus around. There are a million different omelet options to choose from, along with many other great breakfast choices. This is a little out of the way unless you happen to be in the area, but if so, it is truly a worthwhile breakfast stop. I especially recomment the fruit instead of hash browns. They actually cut up real pieces of fruit in a bowl - usually apples, bananas, grapes, melons...very fresh and very good. The other recommendation I have is the sourdough toast. Not store-bought sourdough bread, but thick slices of bread...much easier to justify if you've also ordered the fruit! read more

Used to love taking my kids to this restaurant for the train and food. But every time I have been there over the past year the train is off or feels like a burden to even ask to turn it on. When it does work, it shorts out. I just recently visited this resturant and the food was okay, but do not used the table creamer it is left out at room temp and it Cleary says keep refrigerated. My wife's Grandparents took us here as a treat. It was excellent restaurant with a great Reuben sandwich. Loved the fries. My kids enjoyed the Train moving around the restaurant. My friends and I have breakfast there every other week. The prices are reasonable... the breakfast menu has a wide selection of items and the food is very good. Spring House is a family restaurant with many regulars. Counter service is available. Most of the seating is booth style, four to a booth. High chairs are available.There are three larger tables seating four to six people, one of the tables will seat eight when extra chairs are added. If you are looking for super speedy service, go to a fast food joint. The waitresses at Spring House take time to attend to your needs, our favourite waitress is Maria. Certainly you can't satisfy everyone... sometimes it gets busy because people like the food, the awesome service and the homey atmosphere. Oh! And then there's the trains. read more

I've been eating here on and off for about 15 years. It used to be really good. It changed ownership several years ago and has steadily gone down hill since then. The burgers are horrible. How can you screw up a hamburger? They figured out how. Breakfast. The cooks don't know how to scramble eggs. Every time I order eggs they are burned, hard and rubbery. They also burn the bacon every time. The hash browns are dry and flavorless. The portions are definitely generous, but who needs a lot of bad food? I'll take good food and less of it rather than a large portion of burned, rubbery eggs. I can't believe that this place has gotten so many good reviews. The food is crap. Having said all this the service is very good. All the servers are very friendly and pleasant. They make you feel right at home. read more
