The restaurant is large and has indoor and outdoor patio seating as well as a bar. It's nicely decorated and is bright and airy and offers views of the marina across the street. There are parking lots on both sides of the building. Since it's been a while since we last visited, we ordered a lot of food: clam cakes, fried mozzarella, calamari, a stuffie, plus a baked seafood platter and a small portion of the baked scrod. We ate till we were full and brought the rest of it home to enjoy later. The food was fresh and delicious and we enjoyed everything EXCEPT the fried mozzarella which was like a super crispy hockey puck - gross.

This was yummy, I liked the flavor combinations it used, but there was too much rice for me especially for the price. For my entree I got the broiled scrod with fries and broccoli. The fish was nice, I liked the breadcrumbs. The fries were those really yummy extra crispy ones, and the broccoli did its job. The staff was helpful and nice, and the locale was very on-theme with the seafood, but in a very tasteful way! I would definitely recommend this place!

Clam cakes were tasty, freshly fried, with lovely crisp skin but not much clam. Asked the nice counter lady to recommend the version of doughboy to try and she suggested original or cinnamon sugar. Selected cinnamon sugar on the side. The original, quite fluffy, was somewhat bland tasting. Dusting with cinnamon sugar elevated both texture and taste. The doughs were light with a beautiful golden brown glow. Rhode Island clear chowder (extra broth) was okay but could be better.

We usually have dinner next door at the restaurant, and before heading home we walk over to Iggy's to grab a box of fresh doughboys to take with us. Somehow there's always room for doughboys. One of the things I appreciate most is the consistency. It doesn't seem to matter how busy they are, the doughboys are almost always fresh out of the fryer. They're light, golden brown, and cooked just right. I've never had one that was burnt, greasy, or raw in the middle. They strike a nice balance between having a crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy center, and they're generously dusted with enough sugar to satisfy a sweet tooth without making a complete mess. The menu has plenty of classic Rhode Island favorites if you're looking for chowder, clam cakes, or other seafood, but for us it's always about the doughboys. They've become part of the ritual whenever we're at Oakland Beach, and it's one tradition we don't plan on changing anytime soon. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because this place is incredibly popular, especially during the warmer months. Depending on when you go, you may find yourself standing in line for a while. That's not necessarily a knock on the business because a busy restaurant usually says something about its reputation, but it's worth knowing if you're in a hurry. The prices are fair, the staff keeps the line moving as efficiently as they can, and the quality has remained remarkably consistent over the years. That's becoming increasingly rare. If you're spending the day at Oakland Beach and leave without stopping at Iggy's for doughboys, I think you're missing out on one of the area's best traditions. We'll definitely keep coming back.

The response was we only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. Fair enough. I said I'd like to drive up and pit my name in for the next available table for 4. We arrived around 6:30 and I put in my name. I was told it would be 30-45 minutes. No problem. I ordered drinks at the bar and sat outside enjoying the night. At 7:20 I went back and side and saw two 4 tops open and asked the waitress if either of those were for us. Her response "We can't sit 4 people at those tables only." Found that odd seeing as the other 4 tops had 4 people sitting there. She said she was waiting for the table in the back to finish and we could have that one. I said ok and ordered more drinks and went back outside. At around 8:15 a couple came strolling by us and asked what the wait was like. I said we had been waiting for an hour and a half, but they could go check if the bar had seats. 15 minutes after they went in I went in and saw them seated at one of the 4 tops that was open earlier. I asked the waitress why she would sit 2 people that just walked in at a table that fits 4 people that have been waiting for close to 2 hours. Her response "They had reservations." First off that's a total lie as I just spoke to them before they went in. Second, you said you don't take reservations for parties of less than 6 people!! To make matters worse, 2 other staff that my brother in law and I spoke to about the situation all gave differing stories about reservations. Again, you told me on the phone no reservations for parties under 6 people. And to top it off, no apologies, no offer to fix it, no offer of apps or dessert or anything. Not looking for freebies, but literally no remorse. All they did was hide in the back and try to ignore us until the bartender helped us. We have been here many times, always good food, service is good, but the host station is always chaotic. This time took the cake. Will not be back for a while.

A hostess will seat you and during our visit the weather was good and we had the option of inside, outside or bar. We were given menus and a waitress came by after a few minutes to take a drink order. We ordered a variety of foods: fried fish platter, chowder and clam cakes, pasta and baked fish. The food was prepared in a timely manner. Not overly long, not quick. The waitress kept an eye on us and refilled drinks when needed. Everyone enjoyed their meals. No complaints. Parking is in three lots before the building with handicap spots closest to the building. There are a few on street spots available to anyone (not just restaurant guests). They also have a 'take out' window with a video menu on the building. It changes pages quickly so it may take a few rotations to decide. Restrooms inside are at the back and are clean. An ATM is just inside the door along with merch and the specials menu. Iggy's is a RI institution and with the addition of an outdoor bar and picnic tables near the beach there is more room for guests. Still, plan to arrive early or be prepared to wait for a seat. Order pick-up, make a reservation and view the menu through their website. You can also purchase merch there and have it shipped.

We stopped in at 5 yesterday and were worried the restaurant would be busy, but we were sat immediately. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with lots of nautical themes. Our waitress was lovely and explained the menu to us in detail. As it was our first time at a seafood boil she was very patient with all our questions. Ultimately I had the 2lb boil with 1lb of mussels, 1/2lb of shrimp, and 1/2lb of clams in the captain Loui sauce with a side of garlic noodles. Our waitress came back quickly with a bib, gloves, and a bucket for shells. Not long after our meals came out and let me tell you everything was excellent! The seafood was cooked perfectly, plenty of sauce, and even the corn and potato were out of this world. I ordered the sauce medium and it definitely had a nice kick to it. The garlic noodles had great flavor, a little clumpy but with a little of that captain Loui sauce added on top it fixed the problem. It's not cheap but for a once in a while special occasion treat I can not recommend this place enough!
