    Espresso martini flight
    Holly K.

Overall we had a lovely dinner at Blackstone. My only thing is that for the price it made it feel a bit more of a novelty spot vs a spot you'd want to head in regularly. Like I did enjoy it, but $19 for a very small piece of rib eye to add to the board, felt a bit much. With that being said our server was great, friendly and very on top of things. The pasta flight was tasty and fun and I did enjoy the fry flight. For the land flight, I just wish it would have come with a side, maybe a veggie on the board. Would have love to have seen a dessert flight! The interior is neat and you can tell a lot of thought went into it. If you are in to espresso martinis, definitely worth heading in to try out a flight at the bar!

Another great visit at Blackstone! We sat at a table and Matt was our waiter. He was awesome, very accommodating, attentive, and friendly. We tried to get a seat at the bar, but it was full at 7pm. We got the trio of fries, shrimp, ravioli, and tuna. Every one of them were delicious! We were a party of 4 and our hunger was satisfied with the 4 appetizers. The Tuna and cucumber was definitely my favorite. The lobster ravioli was unbelievable and the bacon wrapped shrimp...omg! Fresh oysters rolled in and the chef brought 6 of them out for us. Oysters were definitely on point, fresh, small, and delicious. Can't wait go back for some more. This is a great place to go with your foodie friends so you can try different things. All of the food and drink are really some of the best around.

I love everything about this place & think everyone needs to try it out! The entire menu is broken down into flights (appetizers with shrimp, calamari, french fries) pasta, protein from land and sea, drinks etc. There's a small menu on the back of regular sized plates and I think every menu item can also be made full size instead of a flight. We got the mojito flight, regular order of truffle fries, and the pasta & land flight. From someone who hates the taste of alcohol the mojitos were literally the best alcoholic drink I have ever had. Specifically the blueberry flavor. The truffle fries were absolutely amazing and the fry itself was the best kind of french fry you could ask for. The pasta flight was good, we did the alfredo, pesto, and penne vodka. Alfredo was a little too creamy and cheesy for me but if you like a heavier alfredo sauce you'd enjoy this. Pesto was a little disappointing at first but we realized it really needed to be mixed to get all the flavors together. The penne vodka was the star of the show and tasted sooo good. THE STEAK TIPS. I wish I got three orders of them, I don't even like steak that much and they were so flavorful and yummy. We paired it with the chicken parm and meatball. The chicken parm was good, kind of tasted like every other one from any restaurant. The meatball flavor was good but the texture kind of freaked me out but that might just be a me problem. This experience was so good and I love that you can try a little bit of everything. Each flight is customizable and the pricing is based off of each individual item. There is a full bar area and great options for seating, it gets a little crowded in there when every table is filled, but overall a great experience.

calamari, ahi tuna, mojito--blueberry,strawberry,rose and ... I forgot which was the fourth one. VERY cutesie presentation!!!

My best friend and I checked this place out on Friday night. Super busy in there and we were seated in just under 10 minutes! Really cute decor but unfortunately the service and food/flights were sub par. We did not do a full dining experience--the mojito flight, calamari flight, and ahi tuna flight. Mojitos: tbh I thought they tasted non alcoholic. Calamari: RI style was not great, honestly pretty oily. Same with the pesto flavored-- both of those flavors had about half inch of oil in the bottom of the bowl which made me feel so sick it was so oily. The sweet chili calamari was my fav of the 3!!! Ahi tuna: pretty alright but didnt have anything exciting. All 3 varients were kinda the same vibe too nothing very interesting or crazy flavors. Quite bland. Overall I would not prefer to dine back there again it felt more of an ambient and aesthetic place over the quality of food and service. I definitely think there is room for improvement.

Verrrrry gooood!!!! Drinks: We had the old fashioned flight ( Me) and the espresso flight. ( wife) both were good Espresso flight was the bomb!!! Especially the butter pecan. (Note, I wasn't able to drive after 1.5 hrs. Those drinks were small but mighty!! Fortunately wife's weren't as strong so she drove) Dinner: Had the flight for dinner with the New York strip, cowboy steak and the bourbon steak tips and shrimp. For sides we got asparagus and mashed potatoes Everything we had was as described, well presented, and very good. Service: great, nice and attentive staff we got everything on time and drinks refilled quickly and all the meats were brought out in a briefcase to display the options.

    Restaurant week special

Love the flight concept! We ordered a restaurant week special and the choices were good but instead of putting all the courses on one board we wished it was spaced out. Food was decent - steak and chicken was very salty. Ambience was cute but the service was a bit slow. Definitely want to go back and try ordering off the regular menu of flights.

    Setting was pretty

This is a recently opened steakhouse in EG, they also have one in Coventry. We made reservations, the inside is very pretty and the ambiance, moody, the service was a little slow but they only had 1 waitress. I ordered the wine flight it was ok not with the price. I had the steak flights and they were perfect, truffle Mac and cheese was heavenly! The French onion soup lacked passion and flavor wouldn't get that again. Overall it was a nice experience, def on the pricey side and I'm not sure it's worth what they charge. I think it will be a one and done experience for me, good luck BLACKSTONE

    Lobster tail flight

I had originally planned to go to a restaurant down the street, but fortunately they closed on me and I just happened to walk into Blackstone. Dope and modern ambience. I'm from California so of course I was searching for some sort of seafood. I ended up ordering the calamari flight, lobster flight, and scallops for the sides, I had asparagus and cream spinach. I highly recommend all of it! The bartender/server and her cohort were hella cool and pleasant to talk to. The Cooke/co-owner happened to come out and chop up some conversation with myself. It was a really good experience because I don't interact that much while I'm on business trips. I'm glad that I was fortunate to have eaten at this restaurant and I hope to come back with my wife someday. I'll post the pictures of the lobster tail and calamari. Thank you!

We drove up to the building and there really is nothing special about it, very few windows and some over grown trees in the parking lot. I didn't have high hopes. When entering into the restaurant the appearance of the bar and dining area was actually decent. Wood floors, wooden tables and a nice atmosphere at the bar. There was a bit of a cleaning supply/bar smell when you first walk in. Again I wasn't expecting much. The kids ordered a small Caesar salad and pasta with butter as their main dish. My husband and I both ordered the marinated grilled chicken with vegetables and potato. A fresh hot loaf of bread with butter was placed on the table right away. It was definitely out of the oven hot and delicious. The kids devoured most of it and we ordered a second one. The waitress, Grace was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed for the table. I have to say the service was excellent as expressed on other reviews. Definitely a plus with kids! Our kids devoured the Caesar salad. It had fresh lettuce, shredded cheese, croutons and well mixed in dressing. They loved it! When our main dishes arrived, it looked promising, two pieces of nicely grilled chicken on the dish. When I tasted it, I was impressed! It was delicious! Perfectly grilled, not rubbery, and very tasty. The meal came with a side sauce of our liking. I chose the lemon butter on recommendation of the waitress. Perfectly paired! The kids pasta and butter was buccatini and was nice and hot, with a side of potato chip fries. Very good and very unique. They ate it all! Overall, ChopHouse Grille exceeded my expectations. While it isn't on the same level as a special occasion restaurant like the Coast Guard House, it offers solid food, excellent service, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We never felt out of place dining with our kids, and the staff made the experience easy and enjoyable. I would definitely return to try one of their steaks next time. If you're looking for a comfortable spot for a family dinner with consistently good food and service, I'd happily recommend giving it a try.

The taste was nothing like a good steakhouse French onion soup. The cheese was off and the broth was a totally different flavor profile. The croutons were soggy. Why can't restaurants ever get soda right? Like I said. Hit or miss. I won't be back.

I love that they have a good amount of booths at any given time. But when they have to combine tables together for big parties, it's a little annoying because they're smack in the middle of the restaurant and it can get pretty loud. But otherwise the volume of the restaurant isn't that bad at all. We were greeted very warmly and sat promptly. The first table they sat us at was directly next to the kitchen entry/exit, I asked to be sat somewhere less chaotic, and was warmly told we could and we were moved. The table we were brought to the seats were dirty, so I asked for them to be cleaned, she half cleaned them. I saw stuff still on them, and then they were wet instead of her drying them so I did it with my hand ( not ideal, but also not sitting on a wet booth) . I opened my utensils and my knife had stuff on it, so it's clearly not clean. I asked for a new knife. My waitress apologized and brought another set and said if there was any issues with that she would personally shine a set herself. My server was Kelly, beyond amazing from start to finish. Very attentive, funny and a great server- for sure. They probably earned this review more stars honestly. We ordered the big boy steak, the shrimp and lobster chowder, 2 lobster tails with asparagus and loaded baked potato and we had bread for the table. The food was so delightful. From the tasty chowder to the entree, even the bread was sweet and so good. The food was amazingly delicious- I was shocked. And the price points are actually pretty good. We were shocked to see all of that and we had 2 drinks as well ( Texas margarita and Jack and coke) total without tip all under 100.00 that's amazing for 2 people. The food is so good. We got to dine outdoors but in a covered setting. The menu had my favorite foods, all food was impeccable, and I was there celebrating my 20th anniversary with my husband. Our trip was all about our anniversary, and we celebrated every day and night doing our favorite things... sightseeing, relaxing and eating fabulous food. It started with some great bread service. We then ordered two appetizers... stuffed artichokes and crispy calamari. The grilled artichokes were stuffed with spinach and pecorino romano cheese and drenched in a green goddess sauce. It was very tasty. The calamari came with 3 different peppers tossed throughout. The calamari had a thicker batter than we typically get, but it still tasted quite good, maybe with a zip of spiciness added, too. I think we just prefer a lighter, more tempura-like batter, but we still kept eating it. As for our entree, we actually split one order of the rack of lamb. Each rack was 8 oz., maybe more. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and we had more than enough meat for each of us to eat. We ordered a Bearnaise sauce to go with it. Ironically, as much as I love a good Bearnaise, I ended up eating the lamb without it because it was prepared so well on its own. We also ordered a trio of sides... their mashed potatoes, which were so creamy and buttery (my mouth is watering now just thinking about them), as well as mushrooms and asparagus, both of which were so well seasoned. This was a meal fit for a king and queen, to be sure... and certainly, for an anniversary celebration. Last but not least, no celebratory meal can end without dessert, so we ordered their chocolate mousse cake. It looked gorgeous as we saw other tables ordering it, so that was enough for us to want it. It definitely was as incredible as it looked. A perfect ending to a magnificent meal. Such a great way to close out the last evening in Newport and first stop on our 12-day anniversary road trip. I so wish we lived closer, and if I have anything to say about it, someday we'll return, but in the meantime, thanks for the great memories.

Ambiance: 5/5 This is what carries the place. An elite spot in Newport, Rhode Island with fantastic vibes. The location and atmosphere are just exceptional. Five out of five, no question. Service: 2/5 Not what you'd expect at this price point. Drinks took a while, and we never got bread while other tables did. The waiter wasn't rude, but at a premium steakhouse, I expect premium service. Simple as that. Food: 3/5 My wife and I ordered the New York strip, two lobster tails, lobster bisque, and a side of asparagus. The lobster bisque was fantastic -- loaded with lobster, incredibly tasty. My wife called it a top five lobster bisque she's ever had. Only knock was it wasn't piping hot when it arrived. The lobster tails were the star of the show. Truly excellent -- warm lobster butter, cooked perfectly. But I'll be honest, you're in the lobster capital of the world. I expect that. Other restaurants in Newport probably deliver the same. The New York strip was disappointing. I ordered medium rare and it came out closer to medium well. For a $55 steak at a place known for their steaks, that is simply not acceptable. The cut itself wasn't impressive either. I've been to great steakhouses around the world and this does not belong in that conversation. Overall: 3/5 Come here for the vibes -- it's a genuinely great date night spot in one of the most beautiful settings in New England. The food is good but expensive, and the service needs work. What gets them through is their location and atmosphere, and they know tourists will come and pay the premium regardless. If you're expecting an elite steakhouse experience, look elsewhere. If you're expecting a beautiful night out in Newport, you'll leave happy.

The meal was prepared by the sous chef with the chef away on a break. (We have been here with better meals prepared by him.) My starter came way before the other appetizers (not good). For once, we were generally unimpressed and unhappy with our food, which did not deserve more than 2 1/2 stars. I gave it a low two.. I was going to recommend the restaurant to gourmet visitors who will coming from Paris in the later summer, but decided that I will not do so. We will probably return again, but not for a while.

They serve creative seafood and meat dishes, have an extensive wine list, and impeccable service. They have often had at least one plant based main on the menu for as long as I can remember. My diet has changed in the last ten years since going plant based and eliminating animal products. I saw a social media post from Mill's about their new vegan offerings and booked a dinner resy. These folks made our meal memorable: Marcus (our gracious host), Katie (our friendly server), the bartender (I didn't get her name), and the chef who worked hard to craft vegan dishes. The drinks, apps, mains, and desserts were 10/10. Fresh pasta, veggies, mushrooms were cooked and presented perfectly. I'm so happy to still support this place and have a chef that created sustainable options for vegans. Already looking forward to my next visit.
