This was my first time at Spring Lake Tap House and it definitely won't be my last! The restaurant was decorated so perfectly for the holidays! Their brunch is also absolutely delicious! You can purchase a boozy brunch package for $45, everyone at the table must. This includes, unlimited pitchers of mimosas, sangria, bellini, or your choice of beer and an entree. You can either choose from the sweet or savory section of the menu for the entree. The red sangria was very good. I had the S'mores French Toast, which was so tasty. There was the perfect ratio of marshmallows, chocolate syrup, and graham crackers on the French toast. The breakfast pizza was also delicious. The amount of flavor from one bite was incredible and nothing was overpowering. I'm excited to go back and try more of the menu here! Bad Santa Brunch on a football Sunday, no regrets. Met up with some girlfriends today for brunch and walked into a Christmas Wonderland equipped with football game broadcasts - ideal set up. No bread, no salad and who serves chicken Parm in a bowl? It's impossible to cut chicken in a bowl when it's on top of bare naked plain spaghetti. Our waiter was pretty stoned and came by once,no refills on drinks, he just took the order and disappeared. Someone else brought out the food. If you go here only get like pizza or a flatbread, avoid entrees as they are the most low budget sad meals in the place. Honestly eat somewhere else, then come here if you only want to drink beer and watch whatever sports game might be on that night. My husband ordered a beer, and I ordered the Nutcracker Old Fashioned---your specialty drink that specifically lists Angel's Envy. However, the bartender, Patrick, made the drink using a different, lower-tier bourbon without informing me or asking whether a substitute was acceptable. When I realized the drink was mine and questioned the change, he immediately became combative, stating with attitude that it was the only bourbon available after a busy weekend. I explained that regardless of inventory, substitutions must be confirmed with the customer. He then grabbed the drink off the bar and said, "Fine, you want something else?" At that point, I no longer wanted him to make anything for me. I enjoyed a raspberry mojito and an Aperol cocktail. There was a server circulating out by the party but they probably needed more than one person out there. A highlight for me was the pretzel sticks! They were fluffy and salty. They were some of the best pretzel sticks I've experienced. Despite some of the poor reviews about service, I think the Spring Lake Tap House is really trying to turn things around - they sat us right away (even without the whole party being there), our waitress was attentive and apologetic when drinks took a little while to come out, and food came relatively quickly. They have a decently sized beer list with mostly local beers (but wish they had the prices of the beer on the menu), and basically everything you expect to see on a tap house menu. We had the pretzel sticks and sweet potato skins to start; both were really good. My friend got the BYO burger which looked pretty good; although the starting price of $7 is appealing, everything else is an added price - even lettuce and tomato. Stopped by Tap House for an early lunch on Sunday morning before heading to the beach. We got there at 11:30 am and it was empty - two parties inside and a couple people sitting at the bar, no tables seated outside. We were seated immediately inside but for no good reason, it took another 5 minutes before the waiter returned to bring us our menus - 3 of the young adults working there were just standing around looking at their phones before coming over to give us menus; they even passed by a few times. I know restaurants all over are having issues hiring staff, however, this establishment had plenty of staff and it was empty - so no excuse for this. We started with the fried pickle planks. These were tasty but you don't get many to an order. The honey mustard and jalapeño ranch dipping sauces were tasty - we saved them for our fries/onion rings. For our entrees, I ordered off the T.A.B.L.E Which sandwich which comes with fries & a complimentary brunch cocktail. I requested no lettuce but instead it was made with a ton of lettuce and no tomatoes. My server offered to have the kitchen remake it - I said to just bring out a few tomato slices and I'd take the lettuce off myself. After that, it was very tasty and filling. My boyfriend ordered the Meatball Parm sub with onion rings. It was a giant sandwich and came with a big side of onion rings. The sandwich and the onion rings were good. We stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon in June. The server was great, but food service was slow and they were out of so many beers for a "tap house." They literally have a sign that says "Featured" beers - Icarus & Allagash. My wife and sister in law ordered an Allagash he came back and said they are out. Ok no problem, ordered an Icarus - he comes back and yup that's out too. Ok then they ordered a Sam Adams Summer, which they actually had... well not really. I ask waiter he says "oh yeah I just heard someone inside say this isn't Sam Summer and the bartender said they just changed it to Sam Mango." WAS ANYONE PLANNING ON SAYING ANYTHING?? Nope. I was pretty underwhelmed with the food from Spring Lake Tap House. My husband and I got takeout a few nights ago, so maybe it's better if you dine in-house. To start, they weren't answering their phone when I tried to place our order. I finally got through after calling four or five times. Here's what we tried: - Buffalo Wings: Very spicy and came with too much sauce for my liking; they were drenched. However, the wings were tender and otherwise tasty. - Turkey Club Sandwich: Granted, I think it's hard to mess up a club sandwich, but this was one of the better items we ordered. It came with plenty of fresh turkey and crispy bacon and was a large enough portion that I had leftovers for lunch the next day. - Side of Sweet Potato Fries: My husband loves sweet potato fries, so you know they aren't good when he barely makes a dent in his order. These were extremely soggy and needed some salt. - Tap House Dip Sandwich: The meat was very dry. The dipping sauce helped, but it still was overall average at best. - Wasabi Mahi Bites: No frills, just grilled Mahi with a light teriyaki sauce. I tried two Hazy IPAs from different local breweries, and both were delicious. As someone who has explored breweries in the area, I appreciated the opportunity to try their offerings all in one place. Spring Lake Tap House has some of the best food around for a setting where one should just expect a burger and a beer. Nothing they put on the menu is done half-hearted. You want a burger? You can customize that to the moon. And don't forget the fries- they're the best around. Want a pizza? You'll get as good a pizza here as any of the top spots in NJ. Seafood? With the ocean a stroll away, you best believe it's good and fresh. I've had Cajun, Tex-Mex, it's all delicious. And don't forget to save room for dessert, with cakes and pies to die for. At full stock, the beer selection is wonderful. The specials offer great deals on the most popular drafts and with TVs everywhere, it's a good place to catch a game. As it is now summer, outdoor seating is available and you can enjoy a meal al fresco as opposed to potentially cramped quarters inside, but even indoors the seating is pretty well spaced out and plentiful. The parking is a little snug when packed, so allow me to recommend parking down the road at the nearby Spring Lake Train Station lot and taking a short stroll to the Tap House. Or just take the train if you can and have the best designated drivers in NJ Transit take you home. This is the best place to spend a night out in the area or to have a nice lunch. Trivia nights are fun, too. I wish they were open early for breakfast, but one can't have everything. Come on down to the Tap House, and come early so you can get a decent table and stay late. Got off to a terrible start. My friend made an outdoor reservation and they sat us inside. It was a beautiful day, too. Not cool. I think our waitress thought she was being super attentive and resourceful but it was honestly just obnoxious. She came up to our table seemingly every ten seconds asking us what we wanted, how the food was, etc. Never gave us a chance to catch our breath. She asked us how our entrees were right after they came out, before any of us had a chance to even try our food. It seemed like she wanted to get us out of there as quickly as possible. I'll give credit where credit's due. The domestic beer buckets were a great deal. Amounted to about $3/beer. The cheese steak egg rolls were a solid app as well, although I don't think the spicy ketchup made any sense as a dip. A spicy aioli would've made more sense. My grilled chicken wrap was atrocious! How do you mess that up?? Whatever. My friend's entrees ranged from pretty bad to surprisingly tasty. One of my buddies got the sizzling steak sandwich - the steak was gross and the sandwich itself was open-faced, which the menu description did not specify. The Italian beef sandwich was dry and forgettable. On the other hand, the margarita pizza, burger, and chicken & waffles were surprisingly fire. Would order again. I had run into this problem once before myself and been warned by others that it happens time after time, but the Tap House continues to advertise different specials to get you to visit only to have the staff insist no longer exists even when shown them on a sign in the restaurant or on the restaurant's website. The feeling is that they do this so that the bill will be bigger, thus making the tip larger, but it sounds like people are getting fed up by how blatant it is. In this latest case, my wife and three friends went to get the $10 special at the bar advertised for every night after 9 p.m. They were told it has not been in effect in more than six months even though I had gotten it six nights earlier and it is still prominently advertised in the bar and on the website. So the group got taken for a bill of $120. I had this problem previously and the manager addressed it, but this is just happening too often to be a mere coincidence. The advertised specials look good, but it is very likely that you will have great trouble and frustration trying to get them. read more

Needed something light after going to the art show in Spring Lake and this place popped up on Yelp. I admit that I read a number of reviews in Yelp to find a place close by - but discounted the remarks about it being very, very loud. My mistake ... The menu is a good one with a great variety - something for everyone and we chose the Open Faced Tuna Melt (my wife was very pleased) and the Chicken & Waffles (excellent, by the way - I didn't say this was going to be a "good for you food" stop). The wine list was nice and my wife found a nice J Lohr Cab while I was able to put together a nice flight of 4 beers (the flight is priced at $15 for four 7oz pours - not bad at all). My problem here is that I found that 3 of my choices were not available. It might be due to the fact that we went on a Sunday evening and they might have had a crazy weekend. Two bartenders who didn't do a very good job of providing good service were servicing the bar. They just could have been a little more attentive, Our biggest complaint, however, was the overly loud live music. It is like sitting in a wind tunnel and conversation is impossible. We were quite happy when he took a break and we switched to piped in music. Overall, a nice place with good food and the potential for a good beer experience but the noise level is off the chart - maybe I am just getting old.
