I called at 9:30 and got an appointment for 11:30 (2 hours later) on Saturday morning. I got there right on time, and was on my way home with a smog cert by 11:45. There is 1 employee here whose rude attitude is ruining it for everyone else who is employed here. The rest are wonderful, the short fat guy is a real piece of work. Wow. Truly amazing customer service. Textbook service really. 1. When asking for a quote for car repair the service tech said he would call me back in 15 minutes. He called back in 14 minutes with a quote and ready to book an appointment. Noticeable already. After the car was delivered to the shop they had my appointment said hello using my name and had me sign the work order. 2. Was told it would be 5 hours work time on the car. In 3 and a half hours later I get a call saying they are into the work and that there is no need to replace the water pump as that part is still sound. Saving me $125! They just wanted me to know that is what they recommended doing. 3. And they had it done in 4 and a half hours! All of this with a smile. It doesn't get any better than this! read more

My brother introduced me to this station several years ago. As a single woman who doesn't work on cars it is always difficult to know where to go and who to trust. This station is by far the best place I have ever been when it comes to honesty, friendliness and quality workmanship. Yes, I am always up for a good price and/or coupon. But the truth is that I have saved far more money, time and frustration by using Spring Street Mobil over the years than any coupon or "good deal" could have provided. I love being greeted with a smile and being called by my first name every time I go in here. It's like having a family member work on my vehicle and I always feel great when I leave knowing that I will be safe on the road and no one has tried to sell me something I don't need. I'm really shocked at the previous post! But stuff does happen. I have been having my car serviced at Dennis's Mobil since 2003, regularly. My parents got their cars serviced there along with their gas so I thought I'd give them a try, as I travel back and forth monthly. I have never had a problem of any kind and the service has been professional, the personal have always been friendly and professional. I do acknowledge that Dennis has a new hire, that I kind of find abrasive, it wouldn't surprise me if that is the person those poor folks ran across. That's no excuse; But out of a professional heads up to Dennis and all the crew at his shop, I'm calling that in so he'll be aware of the trouble. It's a shame to have one fella ruin the reputation and good work ethic of the whole crew. Dennis has been very good about creating his team, over the last eight years I've been giving him our business. I'm certain there are lots of others that would be surprised to hear of it, but things do happen. That's a shame. The gas is always the lowest of all the Mobil's too. My wife's car had failed its smog test and I called to see if we could get the repairs done here. Gave the make, model and year of the car over the phone and was told there would be no issues, and just to bring in the paperwork from the failed test to find out how long the repair would take. Brought in the paperwork and showed it to them. They told me that my engine was a 'Big Pain' and they would not work on it. Was not informed of this over the phone despite giving all of the information they would need. This is unacceptable in my opinion. If they did not know how, or did not have the tools I would understand, but refusing a job because you don't feel like it, or because you think its just too much of a pain for you is stupid. I will never come back here and warn others away from here as well. read more

I was in the middle of a horrendous drive from Davis back down to Los Angeles - I had picked up a friend in San Francisco whose flight had been canceled due to bad weather and we ended up driving through the storms in stop and go traffic for five hours only to have my truck suddenly overheat as we pulled off the freeway into Paso Robles to get a bite to eat around 7pm. It was the classic steam and smoke pouring out from the hood scenario. I had just had a new radiator put in two months before, but was aware of the fact that I was still going through coolant too quickly, but did not know what the problem could be and hadn't had a chance to have it diagnosed before the trip. I called TripleA, but my membership was expired - they put me in touch with a local tow company, however, I did not feel that the truck necessarily needed to be towed: I needed a diagnosis. When I called the tow company I asked if there was any place that might be open where I could have someone look at what was going on. They recommended the Mobil on 14th and Spring. I let the engine cool and proceeded to fill the radiator with 2 gallons of water. It turned out we had exited just a few blocks from the Mobil and were able to drive there. My friend and I could not believe it when we drove up to the station. Just the fact that it was full service and open at 7pm seemed like the most incredible miracle. Even more miraculous was the fact that as we pulled up to the brightly lit work bays, our eyes fell upon the reassuring sight of two friendly looking young men literally just standing there as if they had been waiting for us. They were two brothers, Brian and Juan, manning the station. They were immediately helpful and diagnosed the problem right away: a failed coolant intake valve and hose. There was no way we could continue driving as the leaking was to severe - the minute one put fluid in, it spewed out. The only problem was that all the tool boxes had been locked up at 6. The only things they worked on at that hour were tires and such. After some discussion and pleading from my friend (who really needed to get to LA that night for her business meeting the next day), the brothers decided to call their other brother, a mechanic just starting his own shop in the next town over. We were incredulous: there's another one of you?! Juan called Carlos and told him what the problem was and which parts were needed. Carlos went to the auto parts store (also still open!) and got the parts and then showed up with his tool bag. Carlos did most of the work with Brian and Juan as his assistants. They ran into an additional problem with a corroded socket that they had to re-thread, but in the end they got us back on the road by 9pm!! This should really be a review for Carlos and his brothers, but I never got their last names or the name of Carlos' business. I think he might be working out of his home. Anyway, these guys were unbelievably amazing and we were so grateful! Thanks again, guys!! read more

the two mechanics that were smoging my car couldnt find the most basic parts under the hood and for that reason they didint pass the smog test. i had no check engine light and the car ran great.when i ask them to fix what was wrong with the car they had no answers. thats why i would never go back to them again. read more
