Omg, I got a few cupcakes last night for my daughter's BD and They were all horrible!! I was shocked and disappointed how bad and below ordinary they become. I remember the first time I tried them and flavors and freshness took me to a magical world. Last night was a complete opposite, stales and flavorless. I paid $5/cupcake and I was so disappointed. I could have just gone to Ralph's or anywhere else and get a much fresher and tastier cupcakes. So shameful that they just raising the price while lowering the taste. Don't waste your money. This "sniffs in" at about 3.5 stars... The wife grabbed us some to go. This flavor was a go-to (when available) for us here ages ago. We used to go here often and I knew then that it was an above average gourmet cupcake joint but far from perfection. As a double decade plus amateur baker trying my hand and achieving great success with certain recipes I could sniff the shortcomings here. The reality is that their FROSTING is better than many of their cakes. Many cakes are drier or not very moist and tasty. They were notorious for letting their frosting be the "game saver". Some cakes barely have any visual or taste indicators of what they are supposed to be. Today's LEMON BLUEBERRY CUPCAKE had pretty decent lemon flavor and medium plus sweetness. The cake part was lackluster and not that moist nor very blueberry. Of course blueberry is a lighter flavor compared with lemon but still. Portion SIZE is SMALL towards MEDIUM. Overall taste is good enough but not noteworthy. RATING = B+ CARROT CAKE is still my favorite here as the no raisin factor and very moist cake and cream cheese frosting stands out. Although it has been years and I have found solid options elsewhere so I'll have to see how it stacks up now if I get a chance. read more

This is a great small location for them directly out front of the theater. I did a mobile pickup for a bday cupcake and made an error on an order but Jordy, the Bakery Manager, basically gave me my order plus one on the house, which my toddler was very psyched about. He sent me on my way and fixed it later so I wouldn't have to wait around. He was thoughtful and kind which honestly you don't get a lot in customer service anymore. He even emailed me after he completed the fix, confirmed it for me and wished me a happy birthday again. The service I received was great and will be the reason I return. read more

the service was subpar. When we were asking about flavors etc there wasn't much help given other than check out at the kiosk and your order will be out. It was very bland and unwelcoming experience/ambiance. To make matters worse we got home to discover ALL of the cupcakes were Stale. We ordered 2 red velvet 1 salted caramel and a strawberry in addition to 2 pupcakes. I tried calling the store and to simply replace them with fresh ones but that's not an option as all of the numbers are for a Texas corporate line where you have to leave a voicemail. $35 down the drain. read more

We love Sprinkles and are so glad that they opened a location near us. It is pretty much mandatory to get a pupcake for our dog each year for his bday. All the cupcakes are delightful. The only reason I would knock off a star for this location is simply because it does not seem to be on par with the Newport Beach location. The cupcakes are just a tad less detailed, as the frosting may not be even and look a smidge more sloppy than the iconic Sprinkles look. However, the taste is exactly the same and it's also much easier to drive to the Spectrum location vs going out past Fashion Island for a cupcake pick me up. The staff is very friendly and the main change is that they request for customers to use the iPad in front of the register to submit orders. However, I've had the associates also help ring me up through their own kiosk without any complaints (for redeeming cupcakes through perks). The layout of the store is a bit interesting and may almost seem empty on one end, but the cupcakes are still on display for new customers that would like to browse. My only other complaint is that the pick up area does not seem very secure, and I would've been quite annoyed if a customer accidentally grabbed my entire Sprinkles cake when I had to order it in advance. They opened recently so they're still working out the kinks. When I went there it was a limited menu and the store is a bit small. But there's lots of seating outside and by the fountain too. It's easy to order using the tablets. I got the dark chocolate and it was decadent but not too sweet. Hopefully the next time I stop by they'll have more flavors. read more

Sorry Sprinkles. I love your location in Newport that serves fresh baked cupcakes to die for. This Irvine Spectrum location is lackluster compared to that. Cupcakes don't taste as fresh as locations that have the actual kitchen on site. Dreary stark shop Place seems to be operated by indifferent teens that don't explain the unique ordering system up front. Hot and stuffy no central air. These cupcakes are definitely not what they used to be. When I first tasted Sprinkles a few years back I thought it was amazing! Soft, moist cupcakes with just the right amount of sweetness. Now they're dry and disappointing. Flavors are not as bold. Tried one of their "special" flavors in rotation, the Avocados from Mexico Dark Chocolate Dulce De Leche - this was by far THE NASTIEST CUPCAKE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Like did they even taste that before making it available for public? Not only was this cupcake dry, but it also had the flavor of rotten bananas. We also got red velvet, dark chocolate, and strawberry (artificial tasting). The red velvet was the best one out of all of them. For $6-7 PER CUPCAKE, this was not quality dessert. This place needs to get their stuff together. I do not live close to this location, but it beats driving to Newport or LA. I saw online that they have banana dark chocolate, but you have to preorder it a day before? Don't really understand it, but I ordered 6 so I could make the trip worth it. I literally drove to sprinkles and back just for this flavor! I get home and they gave me the regular banana flavor, not the one with chocolate frosting. Normally not a big deal, but these cupcakes are expensive. I called customer service for a refund for just the one and they saw (do they take pictures of all packed preorders?) they packed me the wrong one. They contacted the store to save one for me so I could pick it up later in the day.... I was not really happy to make the drive again, but this silly flavor was the only reason I ordered anything in the first place! So I agreed to that instead of a refund. Later in the evening, I drive back down there. I say I'm there for a pickup and when I mention the flavor, the two young cashiers look at each other in panic. The girl immediately goes to the back and I hear the guy say "it was there earlier". Manager comes out and offers me a code for free cupcakes since at the time I returned, they were all out of banana dark chocolate. They tell me they don't know what happened, but it was there earlier in the counter for me... So y'all gave it away, or sold it to someone else AFTER being contacted by your customer service? Fast forward to a few days ago, I was in the area for an appointment so I make the stop in to get myself 2 cupcakes as a treat. They call my name and hand me a small box & a bag. I didn't understand why they separated the cupcakes, but I didn't open it to see. Then the guy called me back in as I was leaving. He gave me the wrong person's order! So now 3 times this location got my orders wrong or misplaced, but the 3rd time they caught their mistake before I left. I have ordered sprinkles from this location on several occasions and have never had a problem. However, I ordered some today to celebrate BFF day and I did not get my order. I super disappointed because I could not communicate with the driver about my order. She dropped off a salad and did not drop off the sprinkles. I tried calling the location and no one ever answered. There was no one to talk to and I could not get my matter resolved. Instead I'm just out the money for 4 cupcakes with no way to get a refund because there isn't a system in place to address an issue like this... had I ordered directly through door dash I would have been able to inform them about the mistake and would have gotten a refund. Greeting with a smile would be nice and also when in person ordering cupcakes a screen to wait 5-15 minutes when the employee needs to just grab the cupcake and give it to you makes no sense. That being said, still 4 stars because the cupcake is delicious. Location is clean and nice seating outside. No line, and the cupcakes were delivered in about 5 minutes, which is ok. Ordering is done on a kiosk that of course begs for a high tip for the privilege of being allowed to give them money. Worse, the cupcakes themselves are not on display in the store. Instead you just see a picture on the screen. I was disappointed that the only seasonal cup cake available was Pride, which is bizarre given the fact that Pride month ended three weeks before this store opened. What did they do, ship their leftover supplies here? I ordered an old favorite, Red Velvet. The cake itself was moist, but the frosting was dried out and flavorless, with not even a hint of cream cheese. I suspect it had been accidentally frosted with some old left over vanilla frosting from the previous day as I was in the store shortly after it opened this morning. They now charge extra for a box, so my single cupcake came in a bag with a cardboard insert, which means you have to rip the side of the bag open if you don't want to destroy your cupcake. Lame. On a positive note, the two women working at the store were very chipper and friendly. I really miss the old pre-pandemic Sprinkles.
