Great dessert place with lots of fruity mango options. What's not to love? Like most Asian desserts, the options at Hui Lau Shan aren't too sweet. My favorite is the mango sago with fresh pomelo. It's an absolute luxurious bite of creamy coconut milk sago, fresh mango chunks, and pops of citrusy pomelo fruit. The staff are very nice and friendly. Ask for their recommendations if you're not sure!
Mango mango mango! I love mango and Hui Lau Shan has all the possibly mango desserts for you. It was really crowded in here and all the seats were taken. The employee working the counter was awesome explaining some of their desserts. I ended up going with their Mango and Coconut Sago drink which was great. Perfectly sweet. My buddy got the black sesame porridge which looked absolutely insane but I think he liked it. Next time I would definitely get one of their mango coconut bowls. Everybody was getting that so it looked really appealing.
I got the mango coconut with sago drink and the mango mochi. I highly recommend getting the mango mochi! It's perfectly chewy and the mango is so sweet. The mango coconut with sago is good too, but if you compare it to HeyTea, it's not quite as good. The mango coconut here tastes a bit diluted, it's not as sweet, and they don't include mango chunks. But I would come back for their mango mochi!
All mango lovers need to come here immediately (or don't, I'd love to keep this to myself). One of my absolute favorite desserts in Irvine with such reasonable prices. My go-to is the mango chewy ball A4 I don't know every single ingredient but it's basically a scoop of mango ice cream with thicker tapioca chewy balls (reminds me of Filipino Bilog Bilog), mango pieces that taste so ripe, and then the puree on the bottom. A beautifully, refreshing dessert for the same price as 1 coffee, haha. An honorable mention are the mango pancakes. Such a soft crepe-like pancake filled with a cream. My friend also got one with coconut jelly and that was SO GOOD!! I hope to come back every time I visit Irvine lolll
ITS SOOOOO DELICIOUS OMG. The mango is a little sour but also it's not mango season right now but it tastes really good regardless. I also tried egg waffle (original & portuguese). I highly recommend the portuguese one for people who like creamy custardy flavor & texture. the store itself is a little small but very cozy, there's outside seatings as well!! the girls were very nice and attentive, they explained every component that i was confused about and they were very happy about it!
First time here and everything was yummy! We got the mango chewy ball, coconut jelly with mango and aloe & aloe jelly in watermelon juice. The drink (they called it juice on the menu, but it was more of a slushy to me) was refreshing and paired well with the aloe jelly. The coconut jelly was my favorite - soft and creamy, goes nicely with the mango chunks. The mango chewy ball was also delicious - the icy slush underneath with the freshly made chewy balls has a nice and contrast. It was fairly empty when we came, so no wait for us! Our order was ready soon after we placed our order. They have a good amount of tables indoor to sit and chat while enjoying the desserts. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area!
I was Looking for a new dessert spot and saw this cute shop. I really wanted some good mango sago and this was it! Perfect size and loaded with mangos. Came here on a Sunday night and they were busy, but it didn't take long. Also got the coconut jelly with black rice. Which was equally delicious. There are so many options including mango mochi. I'll for sure visit this store next time I'm in the OC area. The inside is decorated so cute. Lots of outdoor seating.
We wanted to indulge in a little dessert after dinner so we placed an order online for pickup. The process was quick and easy. I received texts and emails about this order and headed over there based on the estimated time that the order would be ready for pick up. There were several tables inside and they' were all occupied with patrons eating their treats. The staff quickly bagged up our items. We ordered Mango Romance which is similar to a sampler plate. We also got the mango and coconut with Sago drink and mango crystal jelly bowl. We devoured the items quickly and forgot to take photos. If mango fruit is your jam, this is your dessert place. I likedthat it's not overly sweet and it's a nice pallet cleanser.
For all mango lovers, fruit lovers, and mochi lovers come here for a refreshing and light dessert or drinks! They are known for their famous mango Asian desserts but also have a variety of desserts in taro, black sesame, coconut, etc. too. I came here for their mango mochi balls (comes in a 6 pack) which is absolutely a (5/5)! They are about an inch wide and tall which is different from the big round ones size of your palms you may see in NYC. It was dusted in light coconut flakes which were perfect added texture to the outer chewy mango mochi. Inside when I bit in, you are met with fresh, sweet mango! I loved the combo together which was refreshing, not too sweet, and the perfect bouncy mochi consistency bite. I managed to eat 4 of these by myself because they were that good and bite size! I also have tried their mango puddings here with variety of toppings and they really don't disappoint. Come here for any sweet treat that isn't too sweet and with real, fresh fruit!
Their mango best seller was apparently the mango chewy ball and I asked ahead of time if their mangos were ripe and sweet - they do not use the Philippine sweet mango they used Mexican mango which was disappointing because the mangos were just not sweet enough or ripe. Their base taste like a really watered down slushi with 5% mango juice flavoring. The ice cream doesn't add enough sweetness. The dessert is just lack luster in general. Their durian pancake however was really good and very balanced durian flavor with whipped cream

The Hong Kong egg waffle was just the right amount of crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, toasted just right and flavorful for it. The durian pancakes were sweet and refreshing, as were the assortment of pomelo and mango with sago drinks and handmade desserts. I didn't get her name but the girl at the register was very sweet and helpful -- she helped us at around 2PM on Sunday, 9/28/25. There was a good amount of seating and the booths were very comfortable inside! There's a gender-neutral bathroom as well. This parking lot can get crowded since there's a lot of great food in this plaza, but it's a sizable parking lot. Overall, I've had good experiences here and will keep coming back!
Love love Hui Lau Shan for Hong Kong desserts. They are known for their mango desserts, esp the 楊枝甘露 and they have added other Hong Kong snacks and drink such as bubble waffle and red bean ice dessert. The price is a little high for desserts. Services are attentive and there are plenty of seating inside and outside. It's bright and comfortable inside the store. Don't forget to get their 'mango shaped' plastic spoons. Kids go crazy for the cute spoons!
got the jumbo mango chewy ball. on top it had fresh ataulfo mango chunks, a scoop of mango ice cream (it tasted coconut cream based), & balls of glutinous rice dough, followed by mango slush (which tasted of real mango as well) & mango pudding on the bottom (like the kind you get at dim sum). i was expecting the fresh mango to be sweeter since it is mango season rn, but it was a mix of sour & sweet. the chunks were also much bigger than what appeared on the menu. the dough balls had a nice chewiness but don't expect them to have any flavor. also if it weren't for the hint of coconut in the ice cream, this dessert tastes v same-y, so if i were to go again i'd try smth w other flavors mixed. service was fast & the tables were clean

We had the Durian Black Glutinous Rice (warm version) and Mango Coconut Duo Mix. Delightfully refreshing and light. We liked it that it was well balanced and not too sweet. The natural sweetness came from coconut and glutinous rice instead of some artificial sugar/sweetener. read more

Came here on a hot day to get shaved ice after a recommendation from a friend. I was not expecting the huge selection of mango items. We quickly decided to order the mango mochi, sesame porridge, and mango coconut sago and these were great choices. The mochi was perfectly chewy and soft and sweet. The mangoes were sweet. Sesame porridge and mochi--we ordered cold and it was refreshing for the hot day. The mango coconut sago was delicious. The coconut milk balanced well with the mango and the sago. I'll never forgive them for leaving the 626. Insane that this is the only SoCal location left. But I guess that make sense since there's so much competition there in terms of Asian desserts and some late night spots versus the OC which doesn't have that much due to being a suburban hellscape (no offense). 30 minutes before close, this place was popping on a Saturday night. There was a line the entire time we were there and all of the seats inside were taken, as well as most of the ones that were outside, but service is super efficient and on it. From ordering to preparing and packaging our desserts, it happened relatively quickly. I miss the Rowland Heights location with the cute yellow decor and the characters all over it, since this is a smaller shop and the characters are only on one small side of the counter wall. You do get a Yogurtland-esque spoon with the mango mascot and the other mascots are on their to go bags as well. There's food models of some of their desserts and they show what type of mango is in season and that they're serving currently. Menu is what I remember from the other locations before closure. Since we were already full from dinner, I staved off from getting the jumbo chewy mango ball dessert that I always get and each of us decided to get a drink and get the Mango Romance to try a bit of everything. Deliciously sweet mangos without any of the tartness or stringiness from lower quality ones. Yummy variety of all sorts of desserts and all of our drinks, leaned more towards the dessert side, but yummy nonetheless. They don't skimp out on the mangos nor the toppings, which is great. I'll come back here again as I mourn the loss of the ones closer to me. read more

Mango Sago! By far our favorite spot to grab this dessert. Mango is always fresh and sago is bouncy and chewy. Its not overly sweet and always the perfect dessert after a meal. Love their BOGO offering on Postmates! Our local Hui Lau Shan shut down a few months back so we're glad their Irvine location is still around. read more
Staff is friendly and desserts look fresh. The restaurant is well decorated with some cute plushies behind the counter. The dessert tastes yummy, but my only complaint is that the picture on the menu and what is served looks pretty different. Came here for a quick dessert on Sunday night. Despite so much mango options, there were still plenty of options for other fruits! I wasn't over familiar with some of the desserts, so seeing them on display was helpful. I got the Coconut Jelly with Red Bean. I loved this! Really didn't know what to expect but it exceeded my expectations. The coconut was perfectly sweet and the red bean wasn't chewy. There were a few indoor tables but a lot on the outside patio. I'll definitely be back! read more

The price isn't too bad and the freshness of the mangoes are worth it!! It's a really nice refreshing dessert. We liked the aloe coconut drink, highly recommend, not overly sweet just the right amount of sweetness. We also got the other mango thing with pearls and coconut, also highly recommend. I'd come back! Service was ok, idk if it's this generation but kinda rude and not very friendly. Their manager or someone came in and I was literally waiting for a while before anyone even acknowledged me. There was no line....even the manager didn't say anything as I'm waiting in front being ignored. Place is clean and has a nice photo-op ish sign with some tables inside and a couple outside as well. Fantastic dessert place. If you like mochi, mango, all things chewy :) you'll love Hui Lau Shan dessert. Yes, my type of dessert. We came here after a spicy dinner at Northern Cafe. While the boys were getting ice cream at Handel's next door, we went to Hui Lau Shan for our sweet treat. The store is very cute. Dessert is very yummy. I had #E5, I think. My sister ordered it for me so I'm not sure which number that was. All I know was it was good and refreshing. The mango topping was fresh and the aloe green jelly strings were fun to eat. Two of my sisters also had the same dessert as mine (they recommended it) and my other sister had a different kind with a pink liquid, not sure what that was. The was a long line but it moved quickly, so that was good. Service was also good. Definitely will re-visit again. read more
Food: The Mango dessert at Hui Lau Shan is nothing short of spectacular. They manage to add a level of complexity to an otherwise very simple concept. My favorite things to get are the Jumbo Mango Chewy Ball and Mango Mochi. I like that the fact that none of the items are overly sweet and really allow the mango flavor to shine. The accompanying ice cream, sago and mochi in their dishes are all made to be super soft and chewy. Service: No frills customer service where they take your order and have everything ready super quick. Ambiance: The inside is very modern, organized and I like that they have a display of their most popular items under their neon sign. Plenty of seating outside and a modest amount of seating inside. It's located in a very popular plaza, but I've never had a problem finding a nearby parking spot. This place is a must try for those who like mango desserts! read more

A nice dessert spot for a hot or warm day, or honestly any time of the year for me since I have a sweet tooth. They have lots of nice mango based desserts and drinks here for all the tropical fruit lovers. It's nice that they have a display case of how the desserts look except they serve them in plastic bowls and cups. I had to try their Mango Pomelo with Sago so I had ordered one of those along with their Passion Fruit Mango Icy. The best part of Asian desserts is that it's not overwhelmingly sweet. The Mango Pomelo with Sago was my personal favorite of the two as I enjoyed the texture and layers of flavor. The Passion Fruit Mango Icy was good too but it's more on the tart side but either way you will enjoy this place! There's a little seating inside but plenty outside. read more

A great place for light and refreshing desserts. The perfect place for any mango lover. There's a decent amount of parking in the parking lot, but it's shared with several other popular businesses and gets very crowded at times. There's both indoor and outdoor seating available. They use fresh mangos for their desserts and everything has really good flavor. read more
I have been craving some authentic Hong Kong desserts for a while and this one was pretty good. I loved that there was so much to choose from too. Inside is pretty nice and honestly I can't wait to go back and try some other offerings. Service was fast and efficient. The mango ice was pretty good as well. This is the nicest and largest Hui Lau Shan that I've been to. HLS used to be my favorite dessert shop in Hong Kong but they no longer exist over there. A long-lasting brand in Cantonese dessert, this store offers traditional treats like mango sago and pancake. We ordered both and the server was very efficiently in preparation. The durian pancake was very classic, with a smooth skin with rich durian flavor inside. I was looking for a place with refreshing and healthy desserts and found hui lau shan!! I usually order the mango pomelo sago. I tried the watermelon coconut juice this time around and it was so perfect for such a hot day. highly recommend!! the service is fast, the quality is excellent and the shop itself is cute as well read more
I absolutely love their desserts. The mangos are always so fresh and I love the mango romance, mango chewy ball, and mango mochi especially. I feel like you can't really go wrong with anything that you order here. All the desserts are not too sweet as well. I also like the ambiance of the place. They have a decent amount of indoor seating and the place is always really clean. My only complaint is the service. Everything comes out really fast, which I appreciate. But for both of the past times I've been there, I've had quite terrible service, with the person at the register not acknowledging any customer's existence even after seeing them. I saw a customer stand there ready to order for at least like 5 minutes before the worker even looked their way. read more
If you like mango, you gotta try the mango desserts and drinks at this OG mango shop, Hui Lau Shan, established 1960's in Hong Kong. Ironically many shops in the franchise closed in Hong Kong due to the pandemic, but there is a shop in Irvine. Always my go to for a pick me up, can't go wrong with the refreshing mango pomelo sago drinks or desserts, D7 or D8 are coconut milk based drinks. I also like the coconut jelly with mangoes and mochi on top. This is a super popular place for good reason! Yummy drinks and desserts, cute ambiance, friendly staff! read more

If you love mango desserts, you have to come here. Their desserts are so refreshing and it's not too sweet. I really enjoyed the fresh mango; it helped balance the sweetness with some tanginess. They also offer snacks that are easy to take out. I recommend their mochi with fresh mango inside. They're located in a plaza with lots of other cafes and stores. On a weekday, there was plenty of seating inside and the service was fast. There are also plenty of seats right outside. read more
Calling all the mango lovers to the best spot for fresh, delicious mango treats! Their pomelo with mango sago is one of my staples since it adds the right amount of sweetness from the scoop of ice cream and has chunks of citrusy pomelo to balance everything out. They have seating inside with adequate tables outside so it's the perfect spot to hang with friends. The service is also friendly and efficient as we got our drinks really fast. Is this place permanently closed? I came here on a Tuesday night at 9:10PM and it was all closed up with no sign explaining why they were closed.
