Don't get me wrong, I love ice cream from pretty much anywhere, and the ice cream was great. But why are we at the point in time where milkshakes cost $7.....I don't understand. Also annoying that they do not have any seating. I went outside of Vie de France next door to sit at a table, and someone working there yelled out "ICE CREAM PEOPLE MAKING A MESS." I've been going to sprinkles my entire life and never have I been treated worse. The owner has recently changed 1 month ago because the old man retired and now it is a couple. The woman has the worst attitude and she doesn't even know where the ingredients are. Also, I got a small and my cup was only filled up not even half way. What a rip off!!! And may I add there were barley any chocolate rocks on top. Unbelievable!! She treated me like I didn't know what I was doing and she was very disrespectful. Overall I was very disappointed. This has been and continues to be one of my family's favorite ice cream spots in the area. I heard that their was new ownership which,at first, made me nervous. However my recent experience with the new management was, if anything, an improvement. I found all of the staff to be helpful. We had a very unexpected visit to Sprinkles last Sunday during a terrible storm. After a visit to my mom with my three kids, I had to find a place to stop while the roads got better and the storm cleared. The staff were awesome - Erica, Phoenix and Alexis welcomed us and allowed us to hang out a bit while the kids enjoyed donuts, ice cream and hot chocolate. For this stressed mom, this was a wonderful treat to find a place where the staff is so kind and friendly. For the kids, they thought the ice cream and donuts were amazing. We'll be back! For a local dessert shop, you cannot get any better. The ice cream is absolutely delicious and the flavors rotate throughout the season, so there is always something new to try. I tried the coffee oreo and the peppermint. With both, I mixed in several toppings which are plentiful. You can have them use their ice cream mixing machine that distributes the toppies equally throughout the ice cream and making it softer. I've never seen a machine that does that before, and ice cream will not be the same without it! The inside is fairly small, but in the winter time, you should be able to find a seat after standing for a bit. Other than ice cream, you will find other treats such as donuts, bagels, and small take-home treats that are sourced from all over the city. This is truly a unique place because all the local favorites are available at this one location making it an efficient spot to stop. The only downside is there is no espresso, but they do have drip coffee and an automatic, self-served, latte/hot chocolate machine. If you are visiting, you must stop by for an amazing dessert! read more

As you can tell from my other reviews, I'm on a quest to try cool ice cream places all over the country. I've been to Sprinkles a few times now and I do like it. The last time I was there, I got the oreo (or was it cookies & cream?) frozen yogurt. It was quite good-- I liked that they had multiple flavors of frozen yogurt. I wasn't about to stand on the rooftop of the nearest building and instruct everyone walking by to go eat the frozen yogurt right then and there, but it was satisfying. I give this place a 6.5/10 on my potentially way too harsh ice cream grading scale. In yelp-review terms, it's about a 3.5... but I'm feeling generous today, so I'll round up to a 4. read more

I do not think I will be coming back anytime soon. Today I ordered a kiddie size ice cream cone which was posted as costing a bit more than three dollars. I got one small scoop of ice cream on a small sugar cone and was charged more than five dollars. When I asked why I was charged so much, I was told that I was given an "adult kiddie". No such option appears in the price list on the wall behind the counter. I pointed this out and to their credit, they reduced the price. They said that there is a sign which mentions "adult kiddie" at the front of the store. This may be the case but I think the sign behind the counter should ALSO contain a comprehensive list of all of the choices. This is where most people look when they are deciding what to buy. On my way out, I asked to see the sign which mentioned the "adult kiddie" option, and I was told that they were too busy to show me the sign. Not very customer friendly! In my opinion, the ice cream is also not cooled properly. It is very soft and feels like it could melt faster than you can comfortably eat it. Are these new owners? I did not see the nice man who always has been there in the past. If so, these new owners should make more of an effort to improve customer service. And they should definitely put up a new sign behind the counter which lists ALL of the sizes that they are selling. It is not good business to charge for an option that is not even listed in the place where people expect all the choices to be listed. It felt deceptive to me. read more

Visited Potomac this week and had a sweet tooth so I decided to give Sprinkles a try. The staff was very friendly and inviting. Their ice cream is to die for! Had the mint chip and the cotton candy and both were amazing. Went in a second time and got a smoothie that was blended to perfection. I had a pretty bad experience, but Maybe I need to try out some other flavors. I first asked for the mango sorbet. It was so runny and tasted of just colored syrup.. not of real mango. The owner was nice enough to let me choose a different ice cream because I was saying that it was way too soft and goopy. I then tasted the peach ice cream which was gag-inducing sweet and when I mentioned, "hmm this tastes artificial" the owner said that it was "actually made of real peaches, but it is hard to get the flavor exactly right". I finally chose the rocky road, which the owner affirmed was his favorite, but I thought that the ice cream itself was very gritty and not delicious. At least there were some real chocolate chunks and marshmallow, but I thought that the ice cream had either been not churned enough (which isn't the store's fault.. just the distributor), or that it had been perhaps melted and re-frozen too many times?? I wasn't impressed with the ice cream and I'd try to steer clear but I'd give it another shot if that is my only option. What's funny was that I went into Safeway (right nearby) for a few groceries and there were several brands of ice cream in HALF-GALLON containers on sale for 2/$5 , which was more than a dollar less than my single-scoop of ice cream.. :-( read more

Pretty consistently delicious. Lots of toppings and baked goods. Love the care they give to each order. They have a unique approach to designing novel ice cream and froyo creations (I'm thinking of their blend-ins and fronanas). Plenty of sugar-free, fat-free, and gluten-free options (and all of it tastes like the real deal!). Be aware: it's small- just one table and no great outdoor seating options directly in front. This honestly such a nice hidden gem. I live a bit far from it, about 25 minutes but the trip is always worth it. (Once or twice I came towards closing hours and they had ended up closing early like 10 or 15 minutes before) They have so many options and everything is always so fresh and delicious. I stick to Oreo ice cream in a cone with sprinkles and sprinkles on top. Sprinkle overload, but so good! It would definitely be 5 stars if it wasn't so overpriced. Been here once and maybe should give it another try because alot of people love it but I tried a banana concoction they had...supposed to be the banana aka healthier version of ice cream, and it was not good. Drove out here on the Yelper reviews. I didn't experience any of the quaint, personalized service everyone is raving about. Very average. Shop is small and cluttered. The flavors in the freezer case were jumbled about and some stacked on top of each other. I couldn't tell what flavor went with which bucket. I ordered a pistachio cone. The pistachio ice cream was in the back and apparently too hard to dig so I had to choose another flavor. I opted for the strawberry. Not very flavorful. Served too soft. Meh. read more

Just moved to the area and took my 3 children for the first time. At first we liked the place. The lady behind the ice cream stand was very nice and patient. Every time I come back to town, Sprinkles is at the top of the list for places to go, and it never disappoints. It's family oriented and has the friendliest staff who's always smiling at the customer and ready to dish out samples. No place can serve up soft serve with so many delicious flavors in the way that they do. To be frank, Sprinkles used to be the greatest gathering place for families, teams, friends, dates etc. However, the new management staff does not provide the same environment. Many people that I have spoken to feel the same way. It is very disappointing. I felt very disrespected and judged as I was ordering my fronana. As an owner of my own company, the feelings of my customers and the relationships I establish are the priority. It did not seem this way here unfortunately. This is one of the quaintest, most charming little dessert shops I've visited. While River Road might be a bit out of the way for some, I think this place (honestly, the whole plaza) is worth the travel. Their gelato, while not the best I've ever had, was pretty good. Putting it in a waffle cone added a whole 'nother dimension of deliciousness, of course. They have a diverse menu: donuts, gelato, fudge, milkshakes... everything you could ever want. The staff is friendly. The seating is minimal, but usually available. I probably should have sampled more of the menu before writing this review, but from where I stand now I think it's a great place to get dessert (or breakfast, for those of us who like to start off their mornings with a little indulgence). read more
