I really like this place. The bartenders I've interacted with have been nice, one even offering suggestions and samples without making a fuss about it, as a lot of Brooklyn bartenders seem to do. There's a lot of space, really good food (I love the Belgian fries and the chicken brat) and a big drink selection, at two separate bars. My friends arrived around 1:30p on Saturday and were able to nab a great sun-drenched table inside, near the windows. The vibe was energetic and lively when I arrived and got more and more buzzy as the day developed. People come around to clear your tables of glasses but there is no table service, you place your order at the bar and pick it up when it's ready. I really enjoyed the casual vibe, the bartenders were attentive and quick despite the crowd and overall, it was a fun place to spend a lazy Saturday. I tried the vegan brat with jalapeño cabbage slaw and the french fries with maple banh mi Sriracha sauce. The brat was tasty and the fries were crispy but the dipping sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste, I prefer more heat! As we were leaving we noticed the fireplaces were lit as the sun dipped below the horizon. It seems like this place would be just as fun and comfortable for fall and winter as it is during the warmer months. Had a great time and would love to go back someday. read more

We were initially attracted to this place because of the open layout and extensive beer selection. However, like an STD carrying dime piece hooker, looks can be deceiving. Ten minutes after being seated we still were not approached by a server, only given water by the hostess (and the joint was not crowded.) We finally had to prompt the hostess to send a server over to take our beer and food orders. With all of the beers on tap, the one my hot date ordered was not available - of course. First round o' beers was enjoyable. Food came out looking tasty. My burger, despite ordering it without cheese, came with cheese, along with that doggone duo of lettuce and mayo - not mentioned on the menu. Overfall, food was good, but made my hot date vomit - seriously - as a result of how fried and greasy the chicken was. After leaving the table again to fetch a beer menu, neglected again by the service, the second round of beers arrived after our glasses sat on the table empty for another ten minutes. My $8 beer tasted like soy sauce. No joke. Had to choke it down in order to justify the price - no way was I going to leave a wounded $8 soldier. Cliff notes: - service was terribly neglectful and unknowledgable despite the amount of servers on staff and slow nature of the night - don't get the $8 soy sauce beer - or the chicken snitzel because you may have an up chuck reflex - setting was cool (pillows were available to nap on) - large beer list to choose from (beware, your first choice may not be available!) - service sucked hope this helps! read more

If allergic to anything, avoid this place. They have really bad attitude. I asked for gluten free dish. I got my dish and double checked - and the bratwurst was gf but thevbun was not! They told me I should have told to go bunless! How to know this that the bun is not gf? I also wrote feedback on email but the attitude was as bad, they claimed it is my fault. Service wasn't particularly friendly and the beer selection was just okay. The atmosphere is nice though... Civilized, pretty, and the kind of place you could hold a conversation in without rowdy pretzel dog ruckus and ubiquitous Happy Birthday singing and cheersing. This place was super crowded when we arrived at prime time around 7pm on a saturday. We had a group of 6 and we all split up and circled around looking for a table to no avail. Each time someone would leave, their table would be taken in 0.1 seconds. We finally found a few seats at the bar and settled with standing around. Traffic at the bar was a little overwhelming with people from tables coming up and ordering beer, shoving in-between us being drunk and rude. Maybe they shouldn't even have seats by the bar or should have a designated area for people seated at tables to get drinks. I'm used to being at crowded bars but this place only had one bar and it was the only one where ALL the tables from the ENTIRE giant beer garden were to get drinks. That was the only downside to my experience here. The beer selection here is incredible & the bar snacks are pretty good too. I recommend the pretzels & fries. The food portions here are not substantial and definitely are snack sized portion.It started emptying out around 10pm and suddenly there were free tables everywhere. read more

I went here on a Saturday night. This place is great for people in their 30s and it has a pretty attractive, laid back crowd for the most part. I had one of the ciders (the name is failing me) and it was probably one of the best beers I've ever had. The space and concept is cool. Love the German style communal tables reminiscent of Munich. It took quite awhile to get a drink at the bar and they weren't all that busy. Lastly, the food is just ok. First of all, I couldn't believe how big this place was. Moved here from Austin recently and my fiance is having a bit of a hard time getting used to the tiny, cramped restaurants and bars. When I found this place, I knew it would be a winner for him...not only for the long tables and big, open space but for the beer and brat selection. We took his family here when they were visiting for Thanksgiving, and you can imagine how tough it is to find a good place to bring two boys in their 20s (the brothers) and two very low key parents from Missouri. Plenty of space! Everyone found a beer (or three) to meet their needs. The soft pretzels are incredible and the fries are probably the best I've had in the area so far. Great dipping sauces. I had the Argentinian beef brat, which was really good. Future mom-in-law had the vegetarian which was actually really flavorful. The bartender was very mellow, just as helpful as he needed to be. I'll definitely go back, especially if I'm going out with a group. read more

I'm giving this place four stars because the decor is really amazing. Very fall appropriate - huge fireplace, delicious beer, sausages, etc. It really is lovely. I would say I thought the vegan brat was truly awful, though, and they won't buy back even on a tab close to $200. So...I'm not impressed with that. As a girl who loves beer, I always come here because they've got a tremendous selection of brews. Personally I lean toward the wheat beers - my favorite is from the Wiehenstephan brewery. Get the Wiehenstephan Vitus (my guy friends love it and chicks dig it too.) It's got a sort of smooth banana/bready finish with citrus top notes - goes great with an orange slice. If you want something light or fun - try the Rekorderlig cider (strawberry/lime). It comes in a huge glass with lime and it's got a pink hue. A guy friend actually recommended it to me and it's the cider I finish the night with. They serve all kinds of sausages like any biergarten and plus other delicious eats. I love the crowd here on weekends - gets packed and there are always interesting people. On weeknights it can be pretty empty which is great if you're just meeting a buddy and want a place to relax and talk. read more

Went there last night with a group. The place was not too crowded for a Wednesday evening and the open air layout of the place had a great cross breeze. We are a knitting group so that once the sun went down the place was a little too dark cause the lighting is kinda low but that is particular to our group. Anyone who was there just to chill would like the ambiance. The beer selection was huge and varied though not as creative as the other famous beer hall in Brooklyn. Beer prices were on par with the other place too. Also had creative and tasty mixed drinks but sadly no Happy Hour! I had the Kielbasa on a pretzel roll with onions and peppers and it was definitely better than most others I have had. Fresh, meaty and not overcooked to dryness. The down side is that unlike other places the fries are not included in the price of the sausage. Belgian fries are an extra $6 and include a dipping sauce. The fries were tasty, as fries go, but not true Belgians cut from fresh potatoes and definitely not worth the $6 price. There are other sides, also for $6 that I will have to try on my next go. My other problem with the place is that the order takers kept pushing for everyone to start a tab. Most people in the group did not and the 1 person who did was overcharged for extra items (notice the plural) that she did not order at the end of the night. I have only been here once but I really cannot wait to go back. Really loved the selection of food here, and from the reviews I have read on here, I definitely should be ordering a sausage next time. Spritzenhaus is one of my favorite bars in brooklyn. Great space, great staff, great food. I always have a great time, and last night was especially great. I went out with a large group for my 30th birthday. Zac the bartender was very friendly and attentive, so all my friends were very happy with the service snd kept talking about how much they loved the bar I picked for the party! They took my credit card and opened a tab, which I was initially fine with. Never again. When I went to close my tab the bartender couldn't seem to find my card and seemed to not be too concerned about it. Granted they searched, but what type of bar can't keep track of the tabs that they open. If you take someones card, at least make sure that you don't lose it. read more
