A+! Spuds is my absolute favorite restaurant in all of Sandpoint for breakfast and lunch. The food is delicious, fresh, and always made so beautifully. The ordering system is different than most restaurants (you walk in, order food at the beginning of the counter, order/receive drinks & pay at the end of the counter, then find your own seat and wait for your food to come out) but is so convenient for the space that they are in. The staff are kind and knowledgeable and I always have a great time here with friends, family, coworkers, etc. The restaurant have a casual vibe and the food is exquisite- with great portion sizes, I always leave with leftovers! An employee named Hannah S truly made my last experience one to remember. She was kind, cheerful, and made my family and I feel right at home. Spuds was excellent. We arrived at around 6:00pm on a Saturday evening. It was about 95 percent full. We got a seat instantly. Our service was excellent. We are lovers of sailboats, and the restaurant is sailboat themed. Wooden model boats surround you and beautiful black and white photos cover the walls. Food was excellent. The only reason Spuds dos not receive the five star rating was our server forgot some broccoli and they ran out of potatoes. Yes a restaurant called Spuds ran out of potatoes. We went here twice for breakfast. We ordered French toast, scrambled eggs and sandwiches. Food came out fast, staff was friendly and the food was awesome. The bacon strips are actually bacon like you have at home. Thick cut long strips very nice. First to know: it's an order then sit down type of place. But don't let that scare you off. Second: outdoor seating, you want it. The food is very good. Five of us went to Spud's for a late lunch. The food and the service was wonderful. All of the staff were happy and friendly. The food was served fast and hot. This place is known for its baked potatoes (hence the name) and its sandwiches. Both are excellent. read more

Breakfast last Sunday was delicious! Great French toast and bacon plus egg scramble with bacon and avocado. Breakfast selections are many and all looked wonderful. One of our favorite restaurants in Sandpoint by far. This is always our first place to stop for food when coming into town. We have been coming here every summer for the past few years. My only complaint - there are too many tasty options to pick from! Every time we are in Sandpoint we make sure to eat at Spuds. We love their soup so much we even order it in the summer! It's especially yummy in the winter though. I recently tried their falafel sandwich and it was excellent. Very generous portions here. Most sandwiches and spuds can be shared unless you have a very large appetite. Service is always friendly. I would rate this place as more than four stars but not a full five...it was close. They have delicious breakfast. I got French toast and potatoes. Both tasted great. I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee. It was not super good but it's restaurant coffee not coffee shack coffee. My husband's toast was home made English muffin. Yum! Our daughter got a scramble, which she said was better than any scramble she's ever had. Probably if I'd not gotten the coffee, I'd have given them five stars. soooooo.....we love the food at spuds - however this was the third time that the website said open and we drove company there to eat on Saturday and it was closed . the food is great , fabulous soups, but seriously? a 45 min drive , no message on website or phone when we called (says wrong number ) .....gas isn't cheap people - spent the one minute to say closed today so we don't waste an hour and a half round trip to see your open sign and the doors locked and closed for the day !!!! read more

Pro's-----Good food and a great location. The potatoes were perfectly done. Con's-----The owner Peter McDaniel. The restaurant has no signage concerning seating, no sign indicating "please wait to be seated" no reserved seating, nothing. On Saturday afternoon at 1:35 my wife and I entered and placed our food order, she asked me to secure a table. At the outside back of the restaurant I found one table empty and two others just about to be finished. I sat at the empty table and moments later was asked to leave (loudly) as this table had been promised to a "large group" I got up (awkward!) and asked if I could sit at another now vacant table and Peter said yes. He then returned, asked me if I had placed an order, as tables were only for guests who have ordered and paid (awkward again!) I explained I had but he clearly didn't believe me. Peter walked away but kept looking in my direction as he seated the "large" group of three (3). Still looking at me as my wife joined me he made NO attempt to soften the the interaction. He simply ignored us as our food was served. No----- "may I refill your drink" or "how was everything?" nothing. Peter, were you merely having a bad day? Maybe you were not socialized by your parents or possibly you were raised by wolves. Could you have grown up in a Soviet orphanage and been mistreated? My wife and I drove 65 miles to visit your potato palace and you ruined the experience. What could you possibly have been thinking? A properly dressed middle aged man is asked to leave (loudly) an unmarked table and then you approached again! Yikes!! We came with our three small children for lunch. The sign out front says to order and then find a seat. The line to order was long and snaked into the parking lot so I figured it was best to take the children to see if there were even seats available. There were two tables open on the patio so I sat down with the kids while my husband stood in line to order. An employee came out and when he realized that we hadn't yet placed our order, he sighed dramatically and loudly chastised me saying, "Folks, you really need to order BEFORE you sit down. People have been waiting 20 minutes for tables." I've never felt so unwelcome or uncomfortable at a restaurant before. The prices have gone way up, the amazing selection of soups has dwindled to just a few, and the food is only so-so compared to how it used to be. Kim was our server and she was very friendly. They close from 4-5 pm to prep for dinner. Monday and Tuesday they are closed. All the prices include tax which is great! Apparently their menu changes based on food availability. Menu is small but they have a big drink menu. The Caesar salad with wild Alaskan salmon and prawns was tasty and the salmon was cooked perfectly in my opinion. It was flavorful and I loved it!!
