On the way back from my grandmother's Celebration of Life, we decided a burger might cheer us up - and we were hungry. We googled "burgers near me" and this place popped up! Exited off the highway, drove just a little ways and we were there. I remember stopping at this Malt Shop as a child on the way to Oklahoma, and several years drove by and saw it was closed. I was a little sad about that. I loved seeing it yesterday, bustling with business at 2:30 on a cool and damp Saturday! We ordered, the prices were reasonable, and we got our food relatively fast. Husband had the double bacon cheeseburger with jalapenos, I had a regular bacon cheeseburger. BOTH were fantastic!! Just a good old fashioned, fresh made burger. It was so good. We also ordered chili cheese tots - also really good!! They weren't greasy, and the chili tasted homemade. They weren't "heartburny" like chili cheese anything often will be. I also ordered both unsweet tea and a vanilla malt. As a tea snob, I can verify the tea was fresh and strong enough!! And the vanilla malt was like a trip right back to childhood. I hadn't had a malt in years, and this one was absolutely perfect. We will be back, and we're not waiting for funerals or Oklahoma trips of any kind. This place is worth the drive if you're a fan of the old time drive in experience. We've only had dessert here, but our experience has been good. It's a first come, first serve basis for seating (which happens to be a separate building from where you order). It can get busy, depending on when you come. Super cute, hole in the wall place. The food smells good and the onion rings were tasty. We love it here. When you live in the middle of nowhere; it's great to run down the road and take the teens to grab some fun. Food is great and they have a large selection. Drinks are a plenty and deserts: Well. They have so many it'll make your head spin. We usually spend ten or more minutes deciding what to get before placing our order. Forgot to take a picture of our shakes, but they were in styrofoam cups so it's not like there was a ton to see, we were in the area and we're looking for something sweet, this didn't disappoint! My mom got the cookies and cream and I got the marshmallow one. They were both amazing. They have the best bacon hamburger I've ever had. Their fries are pretty good as well, but the entrees are what's best here. They also make some killer fried oreos. I highly recommend them. The malts are wonderful! The cook time can be a little lengthy. And unfortunately we always have soggy buns. So we have not been back for a while. Might give them a try later again when Covid is over and we feel safe being served by employees that work in a closed room preparing our food. read more

I die of shock if I ever got out of there in under 15 minutes for just a burger and a coke. Thats my biggest complaint for sure. The wait times even when no one is there are way too long. They have a drive thru that you essentially only order at because theyll always send you around after you order to get out and go up to the window. The food is mediocre even taking into consideration what they're going for... a vintage drive car hop. Small town joint with 1950s theme. Order at the window and sit in your car or their climate controlled dining hall that has oldies playing and a sign that reads "bus your own table". We are from Seattle area and we drove from North Dallas to try this place out and were not disappointed! We got the boxed chicken tender dinners, one with fries, one with tots. Comes with gravy, toast, a side salad, and like everything fried in Texas, a pickle! The chicken was moist and tender and delicious. Seriously the BEST fried chicken tenders we've ever had. Off the dessert menu we had milkshakes, soft serve ice cream, and funnel cake fries. I seriously wish we had room for EVERYTHING on that dessert board because it all looked so good. Visited Spurlock's Malt Shop on a Saturday around 6:30pm to order food to go. Had a few folks ahead of our order but the wait wasn't long at all...maybe 10 minutes tops to get our food. The burgers are big in size (not thick though) which were winners for our group. French fries and onion rings were good. The onion rings were the best of the 2...super crunchy batter and the onion did not slip out of the coating when you bite into it . The steak finger meal is a good deal for the amount of food you get--5 steak fingers, cream gravy, fries, Texas toast, and side salad. All of it was tasty. Their chocolate malt is delicious..you can really tell it's a malt and not just a milkshake. I can't wait to go back and try something new! read more
