I was open to the BLTA being on brown bread, but the bread was hard and the bacon was overcooked.

I really wanted to write at least a 3 or 4 star review. Unfortunately, I can't because the meal I had was awful and the resulting stomach issues kept me awake most of the night. There was no menu available online, so I walked in about 7pm on a Thursday night and placed an order to go. I ordered a BLTA, I believe it was $17. My order to a reasonable amount of time and was accompanied by a little bag that included napkins, utensils, and ketchup for the fries that came with the sandwich. I wish I had listened to the woman I ran into who was leaving the restaurant when I was entering, she said her salad was terrible, but the two men who were with her said their meals were good. Rather than taking it back to my room I opted to sit at a picnic table just below the pool at the top of the stairs to the beach. I opened the container and was pleased with the way the sandwich appeared. There was a good amount of bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. The siracha mayonnaise seemed to be missing. The shoe string fries looked less appetizing, they were limp and lukewarm. **************** Instructions on How to Make a Bad BLTA: Use two slices of weird dark brown bread that is soft in some places and stale in others and has no special flavor profile Overcook the thick cut bacon so much that it has a hint of charcoal flavor Use the teensiest amount of the siracha mayonnaise, basically a thin stripe of the smallest amount you can put on a knife across one side of the bread. Serve at room temperature Add lukewarm fries and an unappealing pickle spear **************** I bit into the sandwich and began to chew. It wasn't great. I ate a few more bites and then decided it wasn't good enough to continue. I like crispy bacon, but this was thick slice overcooked bacon. The bread was hard in some places and soft in others and it had nothing to do with the crust being hard and the inside of the bread being soft, no it was very random, so maybe it was stale or frozen and defrosted, I don't know, but I ended up deconstructing the sandwich and eating the lettuce tomato and avocado which all tasted fine. I discovered a pickle underneath the fries, I like pickles so I took a bite, nope, that was it. I closed up the box and threw it away. Later that evening when I was getting ready for bed I started feeling nauseous, that continued for several hours. Sidenote: while waiting for my order, a couple of people were waiting for their to-go order, I learned it was supposed to have been ready before I arrived. It seems that someone else received their order and was bringing it back for the correct order. So by the time these guys got their burgers, they were cold because they had been off with some other people who had figured it out when they got the food back to their room.

The restaurant / bar has a cool tiki vibe and overlooks the ocean. Service was great and the beer / alcohol selection was abundant. We came on a night where the special was ribs (which were good 4/5 stars) and we ordered a pepperoni pizza (was huge!!!). The pizza is made in house and was excellent (5/5 stars). Great place to eat and drink when staying here.

It's been a long time since I've had pizza this good! Highly recommend. Staff service is on point and friendly. We were able to watch the Oregon State game in a clean welcoming environment.

Sadly, today will be our last visit! We began the day very much looking forward to celebrating my mom with a drive (from Salem) to Depoe Bay to dine at Tidal Raves. The experience was tainted from the moment we entered the restaurant. The service and the staff's careless attitude are certainly not welcoming! Starting with the first face you see upon entering, the young man is rude and arrogant, giving off a very negative, devil-may-care, "unhappy to be here" vibe. He was especially obnoxious and rude to my 89-year-old mother, whose birthday we were sharing today. He behaved this way with every patron! There is one server who is always pleasant and attentive (the man with tattoos); unfortunately, he was not our server today. A large brunette woman, who was abrupt and offered no appropriate response to our questions or comments, was our server. Out of the 4 of us, 3 ordered a cup of salmon chowder along with full entrees; for some reason, she delivered 2 cups and 1 bowl, never returning to check in. A young man delivered our food without a word. The food was fine- nothing special, but the heavy sauces and potatoes served with the steak overwhelmed the other tastes. Our experience was marred by the lacklustre staff, which created an unpleasant overall ambience. We were not the only patrons who felt ignored; many around us had the same experience. There are now, more than ever, terrific restaurants on the Oregon Coast where we would be welcome to spend our $ 150+ on a meal. I would have left our server the minimum tip, but my mother insisted on leaving a far too generous gratuity of $26 for the most basic of service. Very sad to see one of our tried and true restaurants going the way of so many: downhill. The only redeeming quality today is, of course, the ocean view.

As you drive up you cannot help to notice the red building with a classic Old Cafe sign off HWY 101. They have a unique story, the original Otis Cafe was located in the City of Otis in the 1920s, named after the Post masters nephew. They have ample parking in their own private lot, as you walk up to the building and the main entrance, they have outdoor seating. Key finding, depending the time you arrive you may be waiting a bit to get in, they seem to be very popular with good reason. Once inside you will notice a very open seating area, with various booths and table seating options. They make fresh bread, we could not resist we took home a loaf of homemade bread it was very tasty. The staff greet you as you walk in, it has a very friendly vibe, the staff cycle through the building repeatedly checking in with its customers throughout your visit. The food options are plentiful, also note their portions are huge. We finally decided on an Omelette with veggies and ham, with a side of bacon and German potatoes with wheat sourdough. We also ordered the French toast with Fruit, an egg, another huge portion of food ample for two or three. The food was served warm, to our options and extremely tasty. The bacon was huge, well cooked, the Omelette and potatoes were perfectly cooked, I really enjoyed the Omelette and bacon.
