This review is directed to James H , owner. i and others are staying at this resort, yet you booked a wedding party for dinner and breakfast next morning. You left no opportunity for guests paying over 500.00 for two nights that planned to dine on property. No option for take out for either meal. The front desk says they have no control. So paying guests must drive 30 minutes for a meal or buy frozen options from the front desk store. I actually never planned to leave the resort for both days knowing the Spyglass was on site. At least , offer take away to confirmed resort guests. This is a public restaurant , not private catering. read more

It's convenient if you are staying at the inn. We went because we thought great, we don't need to drive anywhere. View is great. Location is great - but this restaurant is bleak. Bleak atmosphere, bleak furniture. There is no store. I expected more. I expected tablecloths and cloth napkins. We made reservations for gods' sake! On a Saturday night at 6pm there were 4 people in the restaurant. What we got was a paper menu and a listing of menu items not available on a Saturday night. The initial reviews of this restaurant were pretty bleak. However, I realized that they were during Covid and everything on the Oregon coast was pretty bleak in those times. My wife and I went for dinner anyway and were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is small and intimate, the service was very good and I suppose during the day the views of the ocean are spectacular. My wife had the double pork chops and cheese polenta and I had the sirloin steak. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and well seasoned. the steak, in particular, was tender and moist. All in all, a very pleasant experience and 7 minutes from our house! read more

Will start by saying staff is friendly. We had a BLT and there was really not much flavor to it, bacon not seasoned nor was the avocado, mayo bland. The 1/2 rack of ribs were so dry and chewy could not eat. They tasted old and reheated. Yes the view is amazing. We spend a couple weeks here each year. read more

Wife had the prime rib (only served on Thursdays) and she raved about it and how the baked potato was perfect. I had the chicken and chips. I expected typical chicken tenders but was surprised to see it was sliced chicken breast with very thin panko coating. It was excellent and will certainly be ordered again during out next visit. I really wanted to write at least a 3 or 4 star review. Unfortunately, I can't because the meal I had was awful and the resulting stomach issues kept me awake most of the night. There was no menu available online, so I walked in about 7pm on a Thursday night and placed an order to go. I ordered a BLTA, I believe it was $17. My order to a reasonable amount of time and was accompanied by a little bag that included napkins, utensils, and ketchup for the fries that came with the sandwich. I wish I had listened to the woman I ran into who was leaving the restaurant when I was entering, she said her salad was terrible, but the two men who were with her said their meals were good. Rather than taking it back to my room I opted to sit at a picnic table just below the pool at the top of the stairs to the beach. I opened the container and was pleased with the way the sandwich appeared. There was a good amount of bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado. The siracha mayonnaise seemed to be missing. The shoe string fries looked less appetizing, they were limp and lukewarm. **************** Instructions on How to Make a Bad BLTA: Use two slices of weird dark brown bread that is soft in some places and stale in others and has no special flavor profile Overcook the thick cut bacon so much that it has a hint of charcoal flavor Use the teensiest amount of the siracha mayonnaise, basically a thin stripe of the smallest amount you can put on a knife across one side of the bread. Serve at room temperature Add lukewarm fries and an unappealing pickle spear **************** I bit into the sandwich and began to chew. It wasn't great. I ate a few more bites and then decided it wasn't good enough to continue. I like crispy bacon, but this was thick slice overcooked bacon. The bread was hard in some places and soft in others and it had nothing to do with the crust being hard and the inside of the bread being soft, no it was very random, so maybe it was stale or frozen and defrosted, I don't know, but I ended up deconstructing the sandwich and eating the lettuce tomato and avocado which all tasted fine. I discovered a pickle underneath the fries, I like pickles so I took a bite, nope, that was it. I closed up the box and threw it away. Later that evening when I was getting ready for bed I started feeling nauseous, that continued for several hours. Sidenote: while waiting for my order, a couple of people were waiting for their to-go order, I learned it was supposed to have been ready before I arrived. It seems that someone else received their order and was bringing it back for the correct order. So by the time these guys got their burgers, they were cold because they had been off with some other people who had figured it out when they got the food back to their room. read more

The restaurant / bar has a cool tiki vibe and overlooks the ocean. Service was great and the beer / alcohol selection was abundant. I was at a conference yesterday, that was catered by the restaurant and the food was delicious. Everything was excellent, from the amazing carrot ginger soup to the salmon. Even my cranberry muffin in the morning was the perfect balance of sweet and tart, with a nice moist crumb texture. I'm definitely coming back. With both amazing food and breathtaking views, I would highly recommend it. read more

We had ours take out & accidentally spilled a salad dressing for our $17 Caesar, the guy we left a $8 tip disappeared to the back after wiping up with a napkin we thought he was going to get us another to replace but after 10" it was obvious he wasn't coming back. Sad to say that the quality of the restaurant had deteriorated with the new owner. The dining room is no longer in use. We had our wedding here and were SO pleased with the venue and the food. We had the ceremony on the grass lawn outside of the restaurant (on a cliff overlooking the ocean--just gorgeous) and the reception was held inside the restaurant. Chef James and his coordinator Matt and all of the staff members were helpful, attentive, friendly, and professional. All of our guests commented on how delicious the food was and the presentation was really nice, too. We also had a light brunch the morning after the wedding and the food was simple (bagels, lox, fruit, etc.) but also delicious and presented in a much fancier way than I expected. The views are very nice. The food is disappointing and overpriced. The chicken strips were tough and over seasoned. Two adults and two kids cost $80 for dinner and of course we tipped 20% to the nice waitress. The hamburger was large, but not tasty. Lunch with a view, not a bad seat in the house! I had fish and chips. Lightly breaded and crispy with homemade tartar sauce with dill. Creamy coleslaw and fries. It was very yummy, I would definitely order it again but get a half order. Ended up taking half of it home. Also tried raspberry lime ale, very tasty. How can you not rate this A five-star experience when the view is AWEOME, the food is great (even the chowder is as good as Mo's, and fries are freshly made) and you get to own the entire floor while taking your time to enjoy all these, in a clear winter afternoon at Oregon coast?! Food is mediocre at best - we only tried the dinner menu so and got the fish n chips, Caesar salad, grilled cheese, cup of chowder, and side of veggies for our daughter. The Caesar salad was a decent portion, and was the best thing we got. It was mediocre. The dish and chips were so dry- the fish they used was completely over cooked and hard to eat. Came with a few fries that were eh. The grilled cheese was a standard grilled cheese. We asked for a side of veggies for my toddler and he said he could charge me a side salad, then gave me 4 tomatoes cut for a cheeseburger and a few cucumbers. Not exactly what I pictured for a kid. Also this is part that bothered me: I ordered $80 worth of food, tipped the guy for bagging up our food items to-go, am visibly pregnant, and asked to use the bathroom while he rang me up. The guy said no that it's not available to "the public". I am staying at the Inn with my husband and daughter (gave my room number to even order). Additionally, I asked for an ice water to go with the rest of our drinks and the man looked at my perplexed and said he "didn't know how to ring that up" or what to charge me for it... when I stated that restaurants usually don't charge for a cup of ice water, he said ok he'll give me some "this time" this guy clearly takes his job WAY too seriously. The view from the little park outside gorgeous and the beach down below makes for a nice sunset walk. Not really to the restaurants credit but hence the 2 stars. read more

Really an exceptional challenge to locate. There are absolutely no signs indicating that a "Spyglass Restaurant" exists anywhere down this long resort road and we were very close to abandoning the idea instead of wandering around the resort grounds. Thanks to another Yelp review, we were informed the restaurant exists inside the old "The Lodge" restaurant. My family (our group of 5) is a seasoned group of diners, so we put our server through the ringer. We waited a bit too long after sitting down to get menus and order drinks. He forgot some stuff, but then remembered it. Took a long time to bring other things. Forgot some coffee refills after we asked for them. He was nice and friendly and humble about those shortcomings, so I didn't mind cutting him some slack. The food was pretty much just diner food and the menu isn't particularly interesting. I got the crab benedict and the hash browns were boring, but well salted. The hollandaise needed more lemon and was really just butter sauce. The crab was...crab. Tasty, but not enough of it to justify a $19.99 price tag in my opinion. My sister didn't like how the chicken fried steak was made using breadcrumbs instead of batter, giving it a pretty funky flavor. Only three alcoholic beverage options- mimosa, screwdriver, and Bloody Mary. Good view, but the dining room is boring. No decor, no music. And for goodness sakes, get bigger coffee cups unless your servers like running back and forth constantly for refills. It didn't seem like she did because she only came by once on her own and I had to ask the other times. Overall not terrible, but I don't feel the need to return. read more

My family and I ordered to-go meals for New Years Eve and everything we ordered was great (including fish & chips, a patty melt and a house salad). We had a gathering of 18 a year ago to celebrate our mom's birthday, and our thanks go to James, Corlean, and staff who really rose to the occasion to make it a very nice event, even through all of the COVID considerations and losses of patronage and staff. They had everything arranged beautifully - pretty flowers on the tables, nice wine selection, and the food was great - Everyone loved it! We had breakfast here two days in a row and were not disappointed. The first day was the green chili and bacon omelette for my husband and the chorizo burrito for me. The omelette was so good that I was never given a bite to taste. The burrito was amazing, but if you cannot do spicy, you might want to skip. I loved the fact that the cook was unafraid to have some heat and the tortilla tasted homemade. Today, my husband had the pancakes with a side of bacon and I had the half serving of biscuits and gravy. The pancakes were light and reminded me of the flavor of french toast. For me, I am very grateful that I did the half serving because I was unable to finish between the biscuits and gravy, hash browns and eggs . The gravy was excellent sausage gravy, the hash browns were perfectly crispy on bottom, and the eggs - I give thanks to the cook. See, I am very picky about my eggs. I like them so dry that there is a bit of crunch and both days were spot on. The staff were so friendly and very accommodating. I almost did four stars due to the wait time this am, but when we were told that one of the staff were out sick, we just sat back and enjoyed the beautiful view out all of the windows to the ocean. I had my dad's memorial lunch here. Owners are very kind. They prepared a lovely lunch. All in attendance were impressed with food.

They have bar seating only right now. We had a pizza which was pretty good for a coast pie but we'd come back to try the fish and chips next time. Portions looked big enough to share. Service was very good. The real treat is the views and they have binoculars at all tables to really take it in. read more

Judith was our waitress and she made the experience something unforgettable! Coffee was to die for; the Mimosa and Bloody Mary were excellent! Also, I have this thing with trying pancakes every place I go and their stack exceed my test! So fluffy and full of flavor.
