We love visiting Lincoln City, during this trip we noticed a new Cafe called The Otis Cafe, we had to stop by and give it a try. As you drive up you cannot help to notice the red building with a classic Old Cafe sign off HWY 101. They have a unique story, the original Otis Cafe was located in the City of Otis in the 1920s, named after the Post masters nephew. They have ample parking in their own private lot, as you walk up to the building and the main entrance, they have outdoor seating. Key finding, depending the time you arrive you may be waiting a bit to get in, they seem to be very popular with good reason. Once inside you will notice a very open seating area, with various booths and table seating options. They make fresh bread, we could not resist we took home a loaf of homemade bread it was very tasty. The staff greet you as you walk in, it has a very friendly vibe, the staff cycle through the building repeatedly checking in with its customers throughout your visit. The food options are plentiful, also note their portions are huge. We finally decided on an Omelette with veggies and ham, with a side of bacon and German potatoes with wheat sourdough. We also ordered the French toast with Fruit, an egg, another huge portion of food ample for two or three. The food was served warm, to our options and extremely tasty. The bacon was huge, well cooked, the Omelette and potatoes were perfectly cooked, I really enjoyed the Omelette and bacon. We are still working through the French toast, we took 3/4 of it home with us. Some recommendations, review the menu, be ready to order they are fairly busy and turn tables quickly. Way too much if you are traveling and can't take half your meal home. So we enjoyed their food, but felt bad that we couldn't eat it all and it had to be wasted ( we were unable to take leftovers with us). The pancakes are enormous and tasty. Loved the chorizo scramble (they recommend the molasses bread but we weren't wild about it). The eggs Benedict ( southern style) had a large biscuit, sausage and egg. Heeping helping of hash browns. All good but could use more gravy as it got a bit dry. Would like the option of two over easy eggs which would bring a little more moisture to the dish. My sister liked her german potatoes and omelette, Bypass the Molasses Bread, choose a biscuit (good) or the sourdough wheat (good). Forget the nasty buttermilk pancake with stringy high-fructose corn (MAPLE-Ha!) syrup. Table of 6, expect to have a mandatory 20% tip added to your bill without asking. Cute place. It's small and fills up fast and I can definitely see why. The portions are generous and the food tastes great! Prices were reasonable. Sourdough wheat bread is made fresh and you can purchase a loaf to take with you (great if you're staying at the coast a few days). We ordered the redneck Benedict with a side of bacon and an omelette. Fantastic choices! Of course we both upgraded our hashbrowns to the German potatoes because who doesn't love Tillamook white cheddar and onion in the mix! The pies looked amazing and the cookies four for a dollar, I couldn't pass up. If you're thinking of trying this place, do it! They also have daily specials. Still a 5-star in my opinion. I will start by saying everything tasted good and the portions are more than adequate. I am stuffed. That said this was the "worst" plate I've had. I got French Toast and added a side of 2-eggs and a sausage patty. Eggs were slightly overcooked in that the yolk was starting to solidify on one. The sausage patty was tasty and had good spices without being over the top but it was slightly dry. I got the small size regular French toast made with their whole wheat bread. It was one thick slice cut into four points and had great flavor. The only downside was that only one point had soaked long enough to get that custard-like interior making the other points a bit on the dry chewy side. This is just nit picking but an honest opinion. So much enthusiasm covering each customer, genuine hospitality & smiles, and tastes that really pop. I love their breakfast but got in around noon so ordered a cheeseburger and wow, homemade bun, fresh ground beef, fresh tomato & lettuce topped off with Tillamook white cheese, it was perfect. They didn't have fries, must not have a fryer, but their German potatoes is something else, hash browns with sweet & green onion topped with Tillamook white cheese that I did not dare cover with my usual ketchup. It was busy, which I'm happy for the establishment that they are doing great business, can be a little too noisy but that is the price to pay for going to a great restaurant, plus I always love taking home a loaf of their sourdough wheat bread & a couple shakers of their own seasoning for my own grilling. read more

Came in here with my partner while we were visiting the coast. She recommended it very highly. She wasn't wrong. At first glance I thought the prices for the sandwiches were a bit high. I ordered a BLT. When it came, it was LOADED with bacon (and all of the other toppings were generous as well). Well worth the price. And their in-house made bread is really good. Got their seasonal soup (gazpacho). It wasn't the best gazpacho I've ever had, but it was still really tasty. The service was top-notch, and it was a delight to see how great all of the workers at the place were with each other. Everyone was constantly thanking each other and the manager was super nice to all of his people. Made for a wonderful atmosphere in the restaurant. I would definitely come back here. read more

We like to visit the coast and always look for a new spot to eat while we're there. We have heard of the Otis Café, but never got a chance to get there. We he finally got to go this last time to Lincoln city and we definitely need to go back again the next time we go to the coast. We were really hungry so we decided to go for breakfast one morning. I ordered the white cheddar and ham omelette and my husband ordered a quarter order of the German potatoes. I also substituted my hashbrowns for the German potatoes. Best decision ever. Otis café was quite busy, but we were able to get seated in a decent amount of time. Service was friendly and food came out hot. Let me tell you the German potatoes were the best. My husband ordered a quarter size and it almost took up the whole plate. I can't imagine what a full order of that would it look like. Food was wonderful and when we went to check out at the register, I noticed that they have in-house products that they sell. First one I saw was the mustard, and I took a chance and we bought two of them to take home with us. We also bought a loaf of bread that they bake in house and seasoning salt that was on the tables that we tried beforehand and was delicious. When we got home we tried the mustard with some meat sticks that we had and that mustard has to be the best mustard ever. I think I'm gonna have to go back to the coast just to buy that mustard again. Bread was delicious. We used it for sandwiches and toast and the seasoning salt is just so good. It goes on just about everything. It has a different flavor than anything I've ever tried. It must be the all of the herbs that they put in it because it was amazing. WOW, this is the way a restaurant should be run! Have driven by several times and the parking lot is ALWAYS full and People waiting outside. In less than 15 minutes we were in and in less than 15 min more we had our food... The table were CLEAN, not sticky, fully stocked with salt and pepper, jellies, napkins, silverware and condiments. Jorge, our server was one of the best servers anywhere and extremely attentive to all our wants and needs. We ordered coffee, ice tea, Chicken Fried Steak and with sausage gravy, eggs, hash browns and sour dough toast, Chorizo Scramble and two cinnamon rolls to take home. UPDATE, THE CINNAMON ROLLS WERE OUTSTANDING, very large!!!!!!! Everything came from the kitchen in no time, was hot and delicious. So much food with the Chicken Fried steak (so tender could cut it with a fork) had to take it home in a to go bag. We arrived at the restaurant at 11AM, waited, seated, ordered, ate and left at 12 noon. This is a well run operation, the staff was constantly cleaning, setting up new tables, bringing water coffee etc. NOT ONE EMPLOYEE WAS STANDING AROUND, they were busy little bees. Otis Cafe is hands down the best brunch spot in Lincoln City. It does get busy really fast, but it's absolutely worth the wait. Thankfully, we arrived at the perfect time and didn't have to wait long at all. Our order was taken shortly after we were seated, and compared to others around us, our food came out pretty quickly. The service was great and efficient. We ordered the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy, sunny-side-up eggs, molasses bread, and subbed the hash browns for their famous German potatoes. The chicken fried steak was seasoned to perfection--crispy on the outside while still juicy on the inside. The sausage gravy was very flavorful; you truly don't need to season this dish at all. The German potatoes are essentially Tillamook cheese with onions and green onions on top. I'm not usually a big cheese fan, so it was a bit much for me personally, but we wanted to try it--and I did love the onions mixed in. We also shared one sourdough pancake, which surprisingly was so yummy and just the right size for sharing. Everything was super flavorful, the portions were huge (even sharing, we couldn't finish everything), and the prices were very reasonable--around $31 total for all of this. So it's been several days since I've visited and I can't stop thinking about those tasty German potatoes I had. After driving down the coast, I popped in around closing time to grab a bite. This is a small (15 tables) local breakfast and lunch hotspot! They will get you in, and out in a very short amount of time, like 35 minutes. The atmosphere is loud and happy and seems to be filled with locals, which in my opinion is a good thing. The service was exceptions from the hostess, to server and bus person. All working hard to please! The food was better than average. I ordered some scrambled eggs with pancakes. The eggs were real eggs and fluffy, the pancakes were enormous! Well we are spending a couple days in Lincoln City. So, we thought we would try Otis Cafe. It was busy for a weekday morning, and we made our order of biscuits and gravy with hash browns. We got fresh coffee and water, and our waitress was very attentive. We got our order a few minutes later. So we were eating and both thought were is the biscuits? So we continued eating and no biscuits . We went on to eat a little more and were both puzzled we had no biscuits. I asked my wife did she want to bring it up to the waitress and she decided not too. We both realized this was too much carbs and ate very little. We went and paid for our breakfast and my wife brought up the concern to the cashier who was a little condesending over the discussion about not getting biscuits . She came across as though it was not the servers mistake it was ours. She did nothing to correct it by offering some resolution to make our experience better. We did not spend much but it was the attention to the customer interaction that could have been so much better. We looked at other tables and the food looks good. The cost is not too bad. What could have been done better is the waitress could have explained if you order this it only comes with this item so if you want another option here is xyz . Yeah we missed it on the menu that it is either biscuits and gravy or gravy and hash browns which is what we got. Would I recommend yes will I go back no.
