Everything was so beautiful and we kept asking "what is that?" We ended up with some specials of the day that were fantastic. More pricey than some others but well worth it. Excellent date night experience here - no reservations but extremely organized, sending you a text when your table is ready, while also offering you a drink. Even though the restaurant was packed, it wasn't super noisy and the seating was comfortable and fun for people watching. Knowledgable staff, diverse menu, and delicious desserts to boot. Best meal of the week and wow are we thrilled to have eaten here. Heard great things from other locations so tried it on a day trip to KW. Early arrival after opening and was seated quickly but the spot was already getting full. Cozy tables in the back with a view of the kitchen was cool. Didn't smell like fish which is always a great sign when doing seafood! The food was all outstanding. Deep rich flavors, generous portions of protein and the grouper was the star of the meal. Had it picatta style and the key lime sauce and caper combo was absolutely amazing! Calamari was lightly battered and flash dipped so you could enjoy the actual flavors and we loved the pork. I honestly can go on and on but this was a repeat for us. Service was attentive without being overbearing and the staff were all warm and friendly which is lovely when coming with kids. We ate here last night and for the most part it's a wonderful place and the food was great. Unfortunately I have to ding them: my wife ordered a filet med. rare, and it was completely raw. This is why I hate ordering steak in restaurants: chefs are terrified of patrons complaining about overcooking and they will have to cook a new cut. With undercooking they can just zap it for a few seconds and call it good, even though it ruins the cut. Listen up chefs: GET A MEAT THERMOMETER! They're only $20. Use it. All the great culinary schools teach this. That being said, I'll go back, just not for the steak. read more

Last Friday evening, four of us had dinner at the Square Grouper in Key West. Our server was very pleasant; unfortunately that is all that was good about it. One of us found a long hair in her salad. They asked if she wanted another, sorry about that. 'It happens'. I had asked for the appetizer of fried scallops as a dinner, and was told that could be done. The scallops tasted odd, unlike any I have ever had, and were actually distasteful. The server noticed that I was not eating but did not question whether I didn't like it, if it was okay, or if I would prefer something else. And for this accommodation. I was charged $50.00 for five scallops. Wow! I ate one and disposed of the rest. One of us had fried grouper, their alleged specialty, and it wasn't cooked thoroughly. It is understandable that they would aim for quick turnovers, however the hovering and repeatedly asking if we were finished when we clearly were not was too much. I have not one positive comment regarding the Square Grouper, and if you are considering patronizing this restaurant I would suggest you reconsider. read more

We had a wonderful dining experience at the Square Grouper Key West. Oysters were fresh and the variety they offered was impressive. We had two appetizers from the specials menu, wahoo carpaccio and the smoked swordfish tacos, both were melt in your mouth delicious! Don't skip the disco fries either! The really show stopper was the Grouper Picatta paired with jasmine rice. As a long time local I do not order seafood from just anywhere as it usually isn't fresh as advertised. Square Grouper is the exception! Fresh, flaky, and delicious grouper is what we were served. My boyfriend had the Ginger Coconut Tilefish and was equally impressed. The drinks from Megan were notably on point as well! We will most definitely be back! read more

We are regular visitors to Key West. We just had dinner and it was some of the best food we've eaten in a long time. We started with the Mexican Street Corn app. It was perfect!!! Honestly could have ordered a 2nd order of it for my entree. Great flavors!!! I had the Pork Mac & Cheese. Incredible. The pork was tender, well sauced and full of flavor. The Mac & Cheese was everything you want it to be. My husband ordered the Seafood Platter with shrimp. He enjoyed that as well. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
